From large institutions like the Arkham Sanatorium, prison, and government buildings, to smaller establishments like dentists, plastic surgery clinics, billiard halls, and even the prestigious Miskatonic University, almost everyone you can name is a troublemaker.

In Arkham, who doesn't have some kind of evil god worship?

"We are truly beset by internal and external troubles!"

Los sighed, feeling somewhat melancholy.

Originally, I intended to watch those players suffer, but in the end, I found myself in the most dangerous vortex.

Lost in thought, a knock came at the door, and a man in his late thirties walked in.

This person has a slightly high hairline, a square face, a high nose bridge, and a somewhat protruding chin and mouth, making his nostrils quite noticeable. The most immediate impression he gives is that he looks like a hairless gorilla.

This person's name is Daryl Crookm, the municipal manager of Arkham, thirty-seven years old, and is classified as a level 9, meaning he is a top-tier ordinary person in terms of overall strength.

One of his four core objectives.

This person is very capable and ambitious. His true identity is that of a spy sent by the Empire's high command, and the main target of his surveillance is the Arkham family.

In the original design, Daryl would have full control of the town of Arkham for the next three years and would try his best to exclude Los.

They also acted as smugglers, secretly developing the local coal reserves for sale and making a fortune.

The ostracized Los, through his knowledge, successfully converted his wife Lyra into a believer. Three years later, at Los's behest, Daryl would die by his wife's knife, becoming one of the sacrifices.

Seeing Daryl this time, Los didn't intend to follow the old path. He was now practically a lone wolf in the city, with everyone eyeing him covetously, vying for his position and power.

If one wants to turn Arkham into their own paradise of order, then they must have their own power and loyal servants.

Daryl now fits his requirements perfectly. This man has extensive connections and prestige in Arkham, and maintains good relationships with the eight municipal councilors. Apart from looking somewhat like a gorilla, he is otherwise very desirable.

"Mayor, did you call me?" Daryl didn't take Los seriously and didn't even bother to use the formal "you" when he spoke.

Perhaps in his eyes, this immature student was not even worthy of his attention.

Los smiled as he looked at the gorilla and then at Daryl: "Janet has already told you about my decision, hasn't she?"

Daryl nodded: "If you have nothing else to do, I'll go and make the preparations. The situation in the city is not optimistic right now."

Ross smiled and walked behind the desk, comfortably sitting down in the chair and saying, "No rush, sit down first."

Daryl frowned slightly: "Mayor, I..."

"Sit down!" Los interrupted him directly, his tone carrying a special kind of authority that sent a chill down Daryl's spine.

He glanced at the young man he had underestimated, and a sense of unease gradually rose within him. He then quietly sat down opposite Los.

Los leaned casually against the sofa and asked with a smile, "You've been in Arkham for almost ten years now, haven't you?"

“Two more months, ten years,” Daryl replied.

Los nodded, then suddenly asked, "What is your purpose in coming here?"

Daryl replied with great composure: "Naturally, it's about improving the lives of the residents here and helping the mayor to govern better."

"And, if necessary, get rid of me?" Los asked casually.

Daryl's heart skipped a beat upon hearing this, but he asked without changing his expression, "Mayor, what does this mean?"

Los casually picked up a pen from the pen holder, placed it in his hand, and with a slight twitch of his index finger, the pen began to spin nimbly back and forth around Los's thumb.

Daryl was somewhat dazzled and couldn't understand why it wasn't falling down.

"Aren't you a spy sent by the Empire to monitor my Arkham family?" Los asked casually.

Daryl was shocked. This surveillance plan was very secretive, and no more than ten people knew about it. Apart from himself, those who knew about it were all high-ranking personnel in their military intelligence department. How did this guy know about it?

“Mayor, what are you talking about? I don’t quite understand,” Daryl replied calmly.

Los smiled and said, "It's nothing. I just wanted to check things out because what I'm about to do is a bit crazy, and I don't want anyone stabbing me in the back."

Then, Los asked again, "Daryl, are you?"

At that moment, with Los's deep eyes fixed on him, Daryl felt an immense pressure for some reason, as if Los was a terrifying monster that might devour him at any moment.

Unbeknownst to him, sweat was already streaming down his forehead and cheeks, then dripping onto his well-tailored suit.

After a full ten seconds of silence, Daryl's strong mental fortitude overcame his fear, and he calmly replied, "No."

Upon hearing this, Los grinned, revealing a wide smile that seemed to reach his ears. The smile was filled with malice and a hint of madness, like a monster laughing at the human with its gaping maw.

Upon seeing that smile, Daryl felt a chill run down his spine and his scalp tingle. Instinctively, he wanted to draw his gun and blow the guy's head off.

“Very good, Daryl, I trust your character. Since we're on the same side, I intend to tell you my plan.”

As he spoke, Los revealed his gleaming white teeth and said, "Blood wine is far from enough. I believe the key to changing Arkham's poverty lies in blood healing!"

"Therefore, I decided to promote blood therapy on a large scale, starting with the poor in the central area."

Chapter 0008 Direct Attack on the Vital Point

Upon hearing this news, Daryl's first thought was that the young man had gone mad.

"Blood healing? That won't do! This is a technique that has been explicitly forbidden by the Empire and the Church! It has no scientific basis whatsoever and is illegal! You will only cause more people to die!" Daryl suddenly stood up and shouted righteously.

There have been two instances in history where blood therapy caused widespread plagues, both of which still terrify everyone today.

Los leaned back in his chair and casually said to the excited Daryl, "There's no scientific basis for this. It's just that people's minds are too barren and not strong enough. My improved blood healing technique can not only save their lives, but also make them strong enough."

Daryl, would you help me?

Daryl replied directly, "That's impossible! Not to mention me, even the eight municipal councilors wouldn't agree."

“Don’t rush to refuse. I think you should listen to my plan first,” Los said with a smile.

Daryl immediately refused: "No need! Mayor, you'd better watch your words and actions, or I will use the committee's power to dismiss you!"

After saying that, he turned and left.

Watching Daryl leave, Los suddenly asked, "How is your daughter doing lately? It seems she's gone blind, hasn't she?"

“Poor Trish, she was so beautiful and young.” Los said with a look of regret.

Daryl froze, turned to stare at Los, and said through gritted teeth, "If you dare touch my daughter, I will kill you!"

After saying that, he slammed the door and left.

After Daryl left, Los put his hands behind his head and sighed, "As expected, without enough prestige, it's still difficult to tame a servant."

"Yes, it's time to put my Blood Healing Technique to use!"

After that, Los didn't stay there any longer and went straight out and left.

While Daryl and the eight city councilors were still discussing how to deal with this crazy guy, Los, he had already arrived at 487 Peabody Avenue, in front of the Imperial Post Office building, humming a little tune.

This massive five-story building is Arkham's largest postal processing center and the only legitimate institution authorized to send mail outside the town.

Of course, Los didn't come here to deliver mail, but to a high-class apartment building behind the post office building, the Post Office Apartments.

Room 305 in Building 2 is Daryl's home.

Daryl works as a full-time municipal manager and earns an annual salary of 8000 Rosa dollars, which is considered a high income in Arkham.

His wife, Lyra Crookum, is a full-time housewife, and his daughter, Tracy, is sixteen years old but has lost her sight due to illness.

The daughter's illness cast a shadow over this wealthy family. Lyra had become a follower of Los because Los had promised to cure her daughter's eyes.

Following the clean and tidy stairs to the door of 305, Los composed himself and rang the doorbell.

Then the door quietly opened, revealing a well-maintained, rather pretty blonde woman.

Although she is a bit older, you can still see the beauty she had when she was young.

It's hard to imagine that a gorilla could marry such a beautiful wife.

"Perhaps, this is true love!" Los sighed inwardly.

“You’re Mayor Arkham!?” Leila recognized Los.

Ross smiled and nodded: "It's me, Mrs. Crookham."

Out of courtesy, Lyca untied the doorknob and welcomed Los inside, asking with some surprise, "What brings you here?"

She heard some things about the young mayor from her husband, and her instinctive impression was quite bad.

With a hint of sadness in his voice, Los said, "I heard that Trish's condition had worsened, so I came to visit her."

When her daughter was mentioned, a shadow fell over Leila's face.

Her daughter, Tracy, is only sixteen years old and about to enjoy her best years, but she was forced to drop out of Arkham High School and transfer to Rice School for the Blind because of her eye problems.

Every time she thinks about these things, she feels that her life is full of darkness and her heart is breaking.

“Thank you for your concern, but Trish hasn’t been in a good mood lately. She often locks herself in her bedroom for hours,” Lyra said sadly.

Los comforted her, saying, "Mrs. Cromwell, you don't need to worry. I've come across a whole new method that should help poor Trish."

Lyra managed a weak smile after hearing this: "Thank you for your kindness, but Trish's condition has been diagnosed by countless doctors, and so far there is no medical technology that can save her eyes."

Los looked at Lyra seriously and said, "Mrs. Crookham, you can give it a try. No matter what the result is, it won't be any worse than it is now."

“You should know that the eye injury is a huge blow to Trish. If this continues, she will soon fall into depression and even commit suicide. She should be showing similar tendencies now, right?”

Upon hearing this, Lyra's expression turned even more unpleasant, as if Los had hit the nail on the head. After a few seconds of contemplation, she tentatively asked, "May I ask what your method is?"

Los then explained his previous description of Trish: "Trish's illness is called brain nerve damage, which is caused by damage to the nerves in the brain, gradually leading to blindness in both eyes."

"Has Trish also experienced drooping eyelids, facial numbness, and lack of expression during this period of time, along with her blindness?"

Upon hearing this, Lyra was immediately shocked: "Yes, yes! You've never met Trish, how did you know?"

Los said, “Naturally, it is a deduction based on the cause of the illness. Mrs. Crom, a kind mother, please believe me, I can cure Trish. I am the mayor of Arkham, and I have no reason to frame my daughter, the city manager.”

Lyra didn't know much about Los, but she trusted his identity completely. So, without any hesitation, she said, "Mayor, if you can save Trish's eyes, our family will be forever grateful to you."

At this moment, Leila burst into tears.

Los said confidently, "Don't worry, Trish's eyes will definitely recover. Now please take me to see her."

Then, Lyra led Los to Trish's bedroom on the inside. The bedroom door was closed, and faint sobbing could be heard from inside.

“Dear Trish, please open the door. The mayor has brought the most advanced technology available today, saying it can cure your eyes,” Lyra said gently.

"Mom, you don't need to lie to me anymore. My eyes are incurable." A low, somber, and sorrowful female voice came from behind.

Leila said gently, "Child, it's never wrong to give it a try. What if a miracle happens? Mayor Arkham can clearly describe your condition, saying that you have brain nerve damage. He must know a lot about this disease."

There was a few seconds of silence inside, followed by the sound of groping as the door opened, revealing a tall, beautiful girl with blonde curly hair.
