Minnie nodded slightly, and then they walked into the cafe next door together.

The three found a private room and sat down. Gaspard spoke first: "The army outside the city has already started its operations, with a total strength of over eight thousand men."

"This includes thirty super soldiers from the Empire's secret experiments, with an average combat strength of over level 20."

"And a total of ten Eye of Insight investigators, who participated in this incident as mercenaries."

"These ten people are extremely dangerous. They are said to be all at level 25 or above, and some are even advanced superhumans at level 30 or above."

Upon hearing this, the two men were startled. Although they knew the army would take action, they did not expect to mobilize such a large force, and even summon investigators from the Eye of Insight.

After saying that, Gaspard smiled and said, "I'd like to know what exactly happened last night?"

Minnie replied, "The mayor used his hidden forces to annihilate all one thousand soldiers who entered the city, and then, by some unknown method, we couldn't even find their bodies."

Gaspard asked in a low voice, "How could he suddenly possess such great power?"

“We’d like to know that too,” Minnie said coldly.

Elizabeth seemed to have a strong aversion to coffee, and poured it directly into the trash can, saying, "As far as we know, he has a subordinate who is at least level 40, Lilith, as well as a butler who is level 30, Carrington, and a team of about 30 superhuman police officers with an average level of 20."

"Level 40!? Level 30!? Thirty levels 20??" Gaspard's coffee trembled upon hearing Elizabeth's words.

Minnie heard this and her fist clenched slowly under the table. Los Arkham's strength was somewhat beyond her expectations.

Elizabeth continued, "The army is expected to enter the city today, along with those superhumans. They want to gain control of the entire Arkham, and then, naturally, they'll wipe us out and turn this place into their military base."

"I think neither of you wants to see this happen, right?"

Chapter 0130 They Suddenly Went Crazy (Third Update)

Minnie and Gaspard reacted differently to Elizabeth's words.

Minnie dismissed the threat, saying, "If they dare to go that far, I'll make sure they never leave alive!"

Gaspard laughed and said, "I don't care. It seems that we, the Eye of Alama, don't have any direct conflict of interest with them. There is still room for maneuver."

Hearing their statements, Elizabeth knew that it was unrealistic to try to persuade them to confront the army directly.

After exchanging information, the three parties left one after the other.

After the two left, Gaspard did not leave immediately, but sat there and calmly drank another cup of coffee.

Then, a young man wearing glasses, who looked like a college student, sat down, took out a notebook, and asked, "Tell me about it."

Gaspard then said, "Arkham's strength is unknown. He has at least one maid around level 40, now called Lilith Arkham. She was already a superhuman ten years ago, but she was imprisoned in Arkham Asylum ten years ago and has been there ever since."

"Level 40?" The young man raised an eyebrow, scribbled a few lines in his notebook, and asked, "What about the others?"

"There is also a butler of level 30 or higher named Carrington. I have met this person before, and he seems to be involved in some kind of cult worship."

"And most importantly, he has a group of about thirty superhuman police officers under his command, all of whom are at least level twenty."

Hearing this, the young man frowned slightly: "Thirty people? At least level twenty?"

Gaspard nodded: "That's what Elizabeth said, and it's similar to my investigation. Police officers in the central district generally have superhuman strength."

"However, the specifics are unclear at the moment, because these citizens are unwilling to talk about their police."

The young man smiled and said, "Looks like you've been silenced."

"Alright, I have a general idea now. There's nothing more for you to do next." The young man said, putting away his notebook and preparing to leave.

Gaspard said earnestly, "Please remember your promise."

"Don't worry, our investigators from the Eye of Insight are always trustworthy," the young man said, and strolled away.

Inside the city hall, the bloodstains from last night have been completely cleaned up thanks to the tireless work of a large number of ghouls throughout the night.

“I didn’t expect ghouls to be so good at disposing of corpses. You did a great job, Danny,” Los said with a smile.

The most difficult part of handling a corpse is dealing with the blood, because no matter how you process it, it will always leave some traces.

But it's a different story with ghouls. These guys stick out their long tongues and lick the blood clean, bite by bite.

Yes, the blood in the entire city hall was licked clean by them with their tongues.

To them, blood on the ground was like honey spilled on the ground to a bear.

Danny, the ghoul lord, looked honored: "Thank you for your praise."

Just then, a knock sounded at the door, and Daryl came in and said, "Mayor, Major General Pig is coming into the city. Also, according to Sheena's investigation, at least five Eye of Insight investigators have entered Arkham, and their strength is generally between level 25 and 30."

Los nodded and said to Danny, "Now comes the main event."

"Understood!" Danny said, quickly turning and leaving.

Daryl continued, "The army's barracks are located a kilometer outside the town, and it seems they have no intention of coming in until the investigators find something out."

Los straightened his tie and said, "Of course. Last night's attack was just a test. They used these soldiers to lure out all the supernatural forces here. Once they make a move, they'll definitely leave some clues."

"Then send out investigators to quickly investigate and identify the target, and deal with it promptly. Once these hidden fangs are removed, Arkham will naturally no longer pose any threat."

Daryl sighed after hearing this, "That's ruthless! That's the lives of a thousand people!"

Los said calmly, "One general's fame is built on the bones of ten thousand. Great generals are built from the bones of soldiers. If he can completely control Arkham this time and solve the problem of Innsmouth, then Major General Pig will soon reach the rank of general."

"Get ready, this time a very important person is coming."

Major General Piqué's manner of entering the city was completely different from that of Lieutenant Colonel Norton before him.

There were only two military vehicles in total. Major General Pigu was accompanied by Charles and his adjutant, and the rest of the group consisted of twenty fully armed soldiers.

Of course, these soldiers are definitely the elite among the extraordinary soldiers.

Follow Peabody Avenue all the way to City Hall.

Before they even got off the vehicle, the two of them saw the shattered tanks and blood-stained camp facilities in the square through the window.

The equipment that was in perfect condition when it was brought out of the military camp yesterday is now a huge pile of scrap metal.

"As expected, they've come with ill intentions," Major General Pig said calmly.

Charles, standing to the side, laughed and said, "Major General, we are the ones who have come."

At this point, the vehicle stopped.

When the tall, imposing major general stepped out of the car, Los and the entire city hall were already waiting to welcome him at the entrance.

Both sides were well aware of each other's intentions. After some pointless pleasantries, Los led the group to the reception room of the city government.

As he walked through the lobby on the first floor and went up the corridor, Charles's eyes darted left and right, hoping to find some clue.

However, aside from a faint smell of blood, there was almost no useful information here.

The two sat down, and Major General Piglet, sitting there casually, exuded an aura completely different from that of Lieutenant Colonel Norton before.

"Where are Mayor Arkham, Lieutenant Colonel Norton, and his vanguard battalion? I just saw a pile of rubbish in the square that looked like wrecked tanks and tents."

The calm voice, when it reached Los's ears, gradually transformed into a condescending interrogation.

Los sighed and said, "Yes, those are indeed your army's scrapped tanks and tents."

"Oh!? What's going on?" Pigu's tone turned cold.

Los said, "I'm not too sure about that either. After I received Lieutenant Colonel Norton yesterday, I was placed under house arrest by him. Then, in the evening, I suddenly heard that Lieutenant Colonel Norton had gone mad!"

“He killed a lot of people, and then the others went crazy too. The soldiers started killing each other, and the whole camp was in chaos. Then, after midnight, I don’t know what happened, these soldiers suddenly ran away, and now I don’t know where they went.”

After saying this, Los thought to himself, "Whether you believe it or not, I believe it."

Chapter 0131 Los's Frenzied Assault (Fourth Update)

Hearing Ross's rambling words, Major General Pig frowned slightly. He knew that Ross was talking nonsense, but he had no evidence to prove it.

Charles, who had been observing Los ever since he entered, suddenly asked, "Mayor Arkham, were you at home all night?"

Los shook his head and said, "I stayed at home from morning until after nine o'clock in the evening."

At this point, Los said with an approving look, "I must say that your soldiers are truly brave. This afternoon, my residence was attacked by a group of crazed witches. The fifty soldiers outside fought desperately and, at the cost of forty-nine dead and one seriously wounded, repelled the witches!"

He then stood up with a serious expression, bowed, and said, "I want to thank your soldiers; they saved my life!"

Upon hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Pig's eyes, but he said without changing his expression, "Mayor Arkham is the mayor of an Imperial town-level city. Protecting Imperial officials is the duty of Imperial soldiers. Mayor, there's no need to be so polite."

Charles, who was standing nearby, corrected him, "Please continue answering my question."

Los sat back down and said, "Around nine o'clock, the soldiers started to go crazy. The soldiers outside my house ran away for some reason. When I came out of my house and arrived at the city hall, I found the ruins in the square. All the soldiers had disappeared. Only the crazy Colonel Norton was left, sitting stupidly in the lobby of the city hall."

This flawed explanation was so embarrassing that Charles felt like he was going to have an attack of embarrassment, but at this moment, they had no way to refute it because they lacked evidence.

After testing them last night, they have learned some of Los's true strength, so they cannot start a war now.

"Does the mayor mean that Lieutenant Colonel Norton is not dead?" Charles asked.

Los nodded: "Yes, but Lieutenant Colonel Norton seems to have gone mad and is seriously injured."

“His fingernails were pulled out, multiple joints in his body were dislocated, and four of his fingers were broken.”

"Oh! Poor Lieutenant Colonel Norton, it's truly pitiful that he has suffered such hardship."

Pigu looked at Los, who was putting on an act of hypocrisy, his provocative behavior amidst sorrow and flattery was practically like shitting on their heads.

He suddenly stood up and said, "Where is he? I have something to ask him."

Los replied, "I have now placed him in the most distinguished place in all of Arkham for the treatment of mental illness."

As he spoke, a smug smile crept across Los's face. "It's at the Arkham Sanatorium, just north of town."

Charles suddenly stood up.

Although he wasn't a local, he had heard of Arkham Asylum, a notorious place known for turning normal people into madmen.

If it were just ordinary madness, he might be able to get some clues out of Norton through some prompting.

Putting Norton in that hellish place now could very well cause him to have a complete mental breakdown, turning all his memories into mush!

"Quick! Take us there!" Pigu whispered.

Los didn't stop them after hearing this. He turned around and led the group out of the city hall, got into the car, and headed to Arkham Sanatorium.

Inside the car, Major General Piqué asked, "How much do you know about that place?"

Charles said in a low voice, "I've only heard that it's dangerous there, you could even say it's a prison for all sorts of special people. David Charlemagne from a few years ago is now imprisoned here, and I heard he's become neither human nor ghost."

Upon hearing this, Major General Pig turned to look at Los, who was sitting in the back of the carriage with the soldiers, and asked again, "Have you figured out his background?"

Charles replied, "His strength should be around level 25. He is very deep and thoughtful. He didn't even blink when I suddenly asked him questions, which means he has received special training in this area or has special abilities."
