The person who had been worried and fearful now looked relieved. This was the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow? Just as rumored, he loved drinking rum all day and was always drunk. And what he cared about most was how he was addressed; he didn't care about anything else, but the words "Captain Jack Sparrow" were always on his lips.
"I'm sorry, Captain Jack, it won't happen again." The man immediately admitted his mistake and obediently apologized to Jack.
“Yes, very good, very good.” Jack said, taking another swig of rum, no longer paying attention to the man, but turning his attention to the gambling table.
"Oh? Roulette? That's my favorite." Jack muttered to himself, then turned to look at Fujitora.
“Interesting.” After watching Fujitora place his bet, Jack also placed his chips on the color Fujitora had mentioned earlier. “Red? Looks like Captain Jack is going to have some luck today.”
Jack's series of strange actions finally caught Fujitora's attention. While others feared him, Fujitora was not afraid of him at all. On the contrary, he found him to be a rather interesting person.
Fujitora asked, "Why are you so confident? Aren't you afraid of getting a black or a 00?"
The roulette wheel has 37 numbers. Except for 00, each number is colored either red or black. You can bet on red or black, on odd or even, or on a specific number. In this case, Fujitora bet on red.
Jack, with his drunken eyes, looked at the spinning disc in the center and the steel balls rolling within it. He said casually, "Captain Jack placed his bet based on yours, so he's bound to be lucky."
This statement not only failed to answer Fujitora's question, but also made him even more confused.
Just then, the disc stopped, landing precisely on number 32, the red one.
"Hehe, look, it really is Red No. 32." Jack took another swig from the bottle and said happily.
However, he then pretended to remember something and apologized to Fujitora: "Oh! I forgot. I'm so sorry, you can't see the result."
"It's alright. Even if I can't see, I can still tell the result from the shouts of the people around me." Fujitora didn't seem to care at all. "See, you've already told me the answer, haven't you?"
"I knew it! Coming to the casino today was the right decision. I was sure to win money." Jack wanted to take another swig of rum, but this wasn't a nuclear-powered bottle, and it was already empty.
Jack could only toss the bottle aside in frustration, leaving it on the ground. Manners? Forget about them.
"Oh? Finished drinking?" Fujitora asked.
At this moment, the dealer started spinning the wheel again, and Fujitora quickly placed his chips on the red side.
"Finished it?" Jack was genuinely a bit drunk at this point; this wasn't an act. "How could Captain Jack possibly finish his rum? I usually bring several bottles with me when I go out."
Jack followed suit and bet his chips on red, just like Fujitora.
As he spoke, he took out another bottle from his pocket (actually from his spatial bag) and handed it to Fujitora without saying a word.
"If you let me win money today, I'll treat you to rum. Do you think that's an acceptable offer?"
Fujitora smiled as he took the bottle and asked, "Are you so sure I can help you win money?"
"Heh, I wouldn't dare say I'll win every round, every time." Jack opened the bottle to continue his drinking spree, "but if this continues, I'll definitely win overall in the end."
"Hey, look, we won again." Just then, the roulette wheel stopped spinning, and the small steel ball came to a steady stop in the red area.
Fujitora was a little surprised to hear Jack say that.
In fact, as someone who has honed his Observation Haki to the extreme, Fujitora possesses exceptionally keen senses.
Whether it's rolling dice or spinning a roulette wheel, Fujitora can predict or perceive the final outcome through the combined effects of his Haki and his senses. This is why he often wins at gambling.
Jack certainly thought that way, but he couldn't say it. They were still complete strangers, and yet he already knew about their abilities. From his perspective, wasn't that a bit much?
When Fujitora asked Jack for the third time why he felt that betting with him would greatly increase the odds of winning, Jack gave this answer.
"Hahaha, of course!"
In fact, not only Fujitora, but many of the gamblers around him were also curious. Was there a way to win money steadily in this casino? They all pricked up their ears to listen.
Jack laughed heartily before slowly explaining to everyone.
"It's a very simple principle. From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were sure to win. You're blind and you love gambling, so you must have been cheated a lot, like being told that the winning number was black when it was clearly red."
"That's true. There are quite a few people who cheat at the gambling table because they can't see me," Fujitora readily admitted.
“Right?” Jack took another swig of rum and continued, “Logically speaking, if Uncle didn’t have any tricks up his sleeve or any extraordinary luck, his money would have been swallowed up by others long ago. How could he have gotten here?”
"So, no matter what methods you use, or whether you're just incredibly lucky, I'm sure I'm right to bet with you," Jack said casually as he continued to bet with Fujitora.
“Hehe, that’s true. Come to think of it, I’ve gambled in casinos all over the world many times and rarely lost. It seems I’m quite lucky.” Fujitora smiled and took a sip of rum, just like Jack did. He said to Jack, “But you are really clever, discovering this problem from the slightest clues.”
After hearing Jack's explanation, the other gamblers around him suddenly understood and started shouting and betting along with Fujitora.
"Look at you, I had to say all this. Now look what's happened. If you keep leading this group like this, the casino will go crazy sooner or later." Jack looked at the frenzied crowd and said with dissatisfaction, "Then Captain Jack will probably be kicked out too."
"Oh, I'm so sorry, I keep forgetting."
Chapter 41 Clash
Just as Jack was saying this, a group of men in black, armed with weapons, quickly drove away the crowd and surrounded the area.
Meanwhile, Fujitora, Jack, and Haku remained leaning against the gambling table, pretending that nothing had happened.
“Hey, what did Captain Jack just say?” Jack finished the rest of the rum in the bottle in one gulp, stood up and said, “But it came true way too fast, not even a minute later.”
"Hehe, yeah, it shouldn't have come true so quickly, right?"
Fujitora didn't care that these people were armed and facing him. But what puzzled him was that even if what Captain Jack had said made sense, the casino didn't need to make such a scene.
"Hey! Hans," Jack shouted at the leader, "What do you mean? Captain Jack hasn't had enough fun yet? He hasn't even said a few words to this new friend."
"Oh, right, I forgot to ask this friend's name."
"Issho. Just call me Issho." Faced with this situation, Fujitora also began to imitate Jack, calmly taking a sip of his drink.
"Oh, Mr. Yixiao and I are having a great time. If you want to kick us out, wait until we win a few more times." Jack seemed unsteady on his feet, and his breath reeked of alcohol as he spoke to Hans.
Okay, not *seems*, he just seems a little unsteady on his feet. I mentioned before at the banquet on Baltigues Island that Leon's alcohol tolerance wasn't very high.
Now that Li Ang is cosplaying as Jack, don't expect him to inherit Jack's drinking capacity.
Instead, Hans, seeing the two of them acting in unison, roared angrily, "You're asking me what I mean? You're the one who means it, Jack!"
"Remember to call him Captain Jack, Hans."
"Why did we receive news that your men have surrounded our Ironwood Society headquarters? Are you trying to provoke a conflict?" Hans shouted, not caring about being a captain or anything like that.
It turns out that when Jack suspected that Hans was the real boss, he had already notified the others to surround the headquarters of the Ironwood Society. Once Hans was dealt with, the Ironwood Society could be taken over naturally.
"Don't misunderstand me. What do you mean by 'I want to start a conflict'?"
Jack, still in his drunken state, replied nonchalantly, "I'm here today to take over the Ironwood Society's assets, nothing more. I said at the door that it would be a great pity to demolish this casino. If you're willing to defect and surrender with reason, you can still retain your leadership position. Wouldn't that be wonderful?"
"It seems things won't end well today." Hans's forehead veins bulged, and he trembled as he said, "Kill them."
Jack knew perfectly well that it would be a miracle if Wang Situ's rhetoric made Hans surrender obediently. Hans's retaliation was only a matter of time, and Jack was prepared to deal with it.
Seeing the thugs rapidly approaching, Jack gripped the bottle tightly and smashed it over the head of the man in front of him, watching the bottle shatter and the thug fall to the ground.
They managed to make it look like a brawl between thugs and hooligans.
"Okay, that must hurt a lot," Jack said sarcastically, then drew his scimitar and began to fight off the thugs. Or rather, he started performing acrobatics, leaping and bounding about.
Haku, on the other hand, was much more formidable. He sent all the thugs flying with a single punch. Seeing this, Hans pulled out a wooden stick and began to fight Haku.
For a moment, the sticks and fists clashed back and forth, neither able to gain the upper hand.
Of course, a few went to Fujitora's side. You have to pick on the weak. I've never heard of this guy before, and he's blind. Who else would I hit if not him?
Little did they know, the seemingly easy target they had chosen was actually the most formidable one; the real easy target should have been the most famous Captain Jack Sparrow.
Fujitora didn't use any special abilities; he simply gripped the sword and easily took them all down.
At this moment, Jack was performing acrobatics with several thugs, dodging attacks from below while standing on a table. His steps appeared unsteady and swaying, but he managed to avoid being hit by a single blow.
Seeing that Fujitora had quickly defeated his opponent, he quickly leaped up, grabbed the large chandelier on the ceiling, and swung right in front of Fujitora.
He said nervously, "Uncle Yixiao, you seem very capable. Why don't you help me solve these problems?"
After saying that, he rolled on the spot and dodged another slash coming from behind.
Fujitora couldn't help but chuckle at this: "Oh dear, I never expected that I would encounter such a funny thing when I came to the casino just to have some fun today."
After he finished speaking, the thugs were also dealt with.
When Hans saw how powerful this man named Yixiao was, who had dealt with his men in no time, he no longer cared about hiding his strength. His muscles suddenly bulged, ripping his shirt.
The sudden surge of power caught Haku off guard. He had been able to overpower Hans just moments before, but now, under the force of the whistling wooden stick, he had no choice but to adopt a defensive stance, not daring to confront him head-on.
As Hans continued his attack on Haku, he said, "Hey, you over there, Yixiao-san, you're not with Jack, are you? Help me take down Jack and his two companions, and whatever money you want, I'll give it to you."
Fujitora raised an eyebrow and said in a relaxed tone, "Oh? That's a good suggestion."
Startled, Jack quickly said to Fujitora from behind, "He's a bad guy, don't listen to him."
These words made Fujitora unable to hold back any longer; he couldn't control his expression and started laughing out loud.
Hans nearly fainted upon hearing this. What the hell? Are you a three-year-old? What do you mean by bad guy or bad guy?
He Ku was used to this and calmly seized the opportunity to turn the tide.
After laughing, Fujitora turned to Jack and asked, "Aren't you a member of the mafia? Or a pirate? Aren't you a bad guy too?"
Jack quickly waved his hand and said, "That's different. Being a pirate and being a good person are not mutually exclusive. I'm a pirate, but I'm also a good person."
"Huh? This is the first time I've heard this kind of argument." Fujitora chuckled (feeling a little uneasy), "But they're offering me money, which is hard to refuse!"
“Yes, yes!” Hans shouted from the side, “I can get you a lot of money, as long as you help me kill these two.”
Fujitora's words were clearly a joke, and Jack understood that Fujitora just thought he was funny and wanted to scare him. Whether it was helping Hans defeat him or helping him kill Hans, it was impossible; he'd just treat it as a good show.
Everything Jack had done before was to attract Fujitora's attention, but this curiosity wasn't enough to truly impress him. They weren't even friends; he was just an acquaintance.
In order to truly gain Fujitora's trust and get him to join the Revolutionary Army.
Jack stretched out his right hand and tore off the beard hanging from his chin.
Chapter Forty-Two: Awakening
“Although you can’t see, I think it’ll sound better this way.” Li Ang tore off all the fake beard, then removed his hat and wig, and returned to his original tone of voice.
"Oh? Although I can't see it, this is your true face, isn't it? Captain Jack is just an identity you're disguised as."
“Yes.” At this moment, Li Ang no longer spoke in his drunken state and said seriously, “Let me reintroduce myself. I am Li Ang, the chief of staff of the Revolutionary Army. The Revolutionary Army is an organization established to overthrow the tyranny of the Celestial Dragons and the World Government.”
There were only four living people present. Hearing this, Hans and Fujitora were both moved.
Hans burst into laughter, saying, "That's hilarious! You think you can overthrow the World Government? That's the funniest joke I've ever heard."
Leon and Haku were unfazed by Hans's mockery, as such ridicule was all too common; almost everyone reacted this way upon hearing that the revolutionary army was going to overthrow the world.
