Medea's image... now that I think about it, her pale and delicate skin was practically porcelain.
That's a real porcelain doll.
However, Scott felt he could no longer look at Medea's flawless beauty when he thought of her aged soul.
"I understand."
Then, he lowered the second finger.
"The second question."
He looked at the Ravenclaw in the painting.
"Since you believe that the oath and Medea will not cause any real harm to the students, why did you agree to lift it?"
I still believe that way.
Ravenclaw said.
“A fair transaction is not a bad thing; it is an opportunity for students, and of course, a challenge.”
"I actually agree with that point."
Scott said seriously.
"Although I wanted to help my friend regain his musical talent, I still don't think this kind of trade is a bad thing; it's just a matter of personal choice."
Ravenclaw smiled and nodded.
“I’m not surprised you think that way, son. It’s not all bad… but there are conditions.”
She changed the subject.
"You should have heard me say that the operation of the oath consumes the castle's magic."
"What do you mean?" Scott looked at her in surprise.
Ravenclaw smiled helplessly. "I didn't expect... the magical environment would change so much after a thousand years. The magic contained in Hogwarts Castle can no longer withstand too much continuous consumption."
Scott raised an eyebrow. "It seems that Headmaster Dumbledore hasn't taken any action on this matter."
"He was powerless; he couldn't ask a student to go there and take on the challenge."
Ms. Gray took over the conversation.
"Moreover, although Mother said this, it was only from a long-term perspective. Even if the oath is not broken, the castle's magic can still sustain it for many years."
“I see.” Scott nodded.
Ms. Gray looked at him and asked, "So, are you willing to challenge Medea, Scott?"
"I'd like to think about it some more."
Scott answered.
He said that considering it meant he was preparing to refuse.
Whether the challenge succeeds or fails, Scott himself will gain nothing, and it will even cause his previous idea of seizing the magic of music to completely fall through ahead of time.
He felt he had absolutely no reason to do such a thing.
Will the magic of Hogwarts Castle be squandered by the oath?
Sorry, this isn't his home.
He liked this place, but not to that extent.
“I want you to go, Scott.”
At that moment, Ravenclaw suddenly said to him.
Scott looked at her in surprise.
"You should know that I am no longer just a simple portrait artist, but my time is running out."
Ravenclaw started negotiating terms.
"After you finish this task, you only need to help Helena with one more thing, and I will give you access to Helena's study and this room."
Scott blinked; to be honest, it held little appeal for him.
It's somewhat inferior to Medea's musical magic.
Ravenclaw, however, said, “Helena’s study is indeed nothing special, but I think you will need this portrait.”
“A portrait?” Scott asked.
Weren't you going to disappear?
"After I disappear, the portrait will turn into a regular magical portrait."
Ravenclaw smiled reservedly.
"But she's not so ordinary either; at least she possesses most of the magical knowledge I was proficient in during my lifetime. If you meet my conditions, the portrait will become your full-time professor."
“I’ll challenge Medea!” Scott immediately changed his mind.
What Medea?
What kind of musical magic?
what is that?
It's nowhere near as good as the terms offered by Ravenclaw.
Chapter 129 Heading to the Challenge
As the evening sun slowly sank towards the mountains of the Scottish Highlands, it painted the clouds in the sky with layers of warm colors.
At the edge of a vast forest, beside a deep lake, atop a steep cliff, stands a magnificent castle.
The seemingly ceaseless wind left the valley, causing the boundless forest to surge and ruffle the surface of the deep lake.
The wind howled past the stone bridge on the cliff by the lake, lifting the boy's black cloak and long blue scarf on the bridge.
Scott squinted in the wind, grabbed the collar of his cloak with one hand, and took a step forward.
Ms. Grey floated gracefully beside him, the wind passing through her transparent body, her hair and hem remaining perfectly still in the breeze.
"Let's just go down."
Ms. Gray said to Scott.
"If we go here, someone will see us, right?"
Scott stood inside the stone bridge railing, looking around.
"Everyone is still in class. Besides, so what if they saw it?"
Ms. Gray said nonchalantly as she slowly rose into the air.
"If you don't want to be seen, you should hurry up, get out of class is about to end."
She floated down the stone bridge over the railing.
"Ok."
Scott responded with a helpless sigh and looked up at the sky.
He put his left thumb and forefinger into his mouth and blew a loud whistle.
Accompanied by a "cawing" sound that grew louder as it approached, a completely black raven circled and flew down in front of him.
"Grow bigger quickly."
Scott waved his wand at the raven with his right hand, and the normally normal raven instantly became extraordinarily huge.
"I've grown bigger! Bigger! Scott! Hahaha!"
The raven flapped its wings excitedly and spoke in human language.
“I’ve found some tricks that can at least make you bigger.”
Scott smiled smugly.
"Thank you for your guidance, Professor Flitwick!"
He climbed onto the railing of the stone bridge.
"Take me down, Rimbaud."
As he spoke, he leaped up and landed on the raven's broad back.
"Gah!"
The raven cawed excitedly, and with Scott in its wings, it took flight and headed towards the bridge below.
“Go to Ms. Gray’s place.”
Scott gave the order.
At this moment, Ms. Grey was floating on a huge, horizontal rock on the cliff face below the stone bridge, looking up at the giant raven falling down.
The raven soon landed on the boulder, and Scott climbed off its back.
"This is not a real raven."
Ms. Gray looked at Scott with a complicated expression.
"This is your Transfiguration artwork."
"You didn't see wrong."
Scott nodded, waved his wand, and Rimbaud instantly returned to his original size.
It flew up and landed on Scott's shoulder.
"You cast a spell on your transfiguration artwork!"
Ms. Gray said somewhat excitedly.
"How is this possible? Even with just a simple Inflate Charm, your Polymorph didn't break down!"
“This is exactly where I’m researching now,” Scott said. “I’ve already gained some insights from learning combination casting from Professor Flitwick.”
At least I can use the Inflation Charm on Rimbaud now, although it can only last for a dozen seconds at most.
