“You’re out of luck, kid!” she said smugly, looking behind Scott.

Ramiro said anxiously, "Hurry, Scott!"

"He can't leave."

Someone emerged from the "maze" behind Scott.

"Put down your gun, kid," a man said smugly.

Scott glanced back and saw a disheveled, middle-aged man with a stubble beard pointing a gun at him.

"Put it down now!" the man said fiercely.

"There's really no other way." Scott threw the pistol away decisively.

Chapter 248 Inquiring about the robbers' purpose

"Is this a kidnapping?"

Scott put his hands back into his pockets.

"What is your purpose in kidnapping Ramiro?" he asked curiously.

"Take your hands out of your pockets!" The middle-aged man pressed the gun against the back of Scott's head.

“Tsk, be gentle.” Scott gripped his wand and raised his hand.

"Don't be nervous." He waved his wand casually. "Are you really afraid of a little stick?"

"Don't move!" the man shouted.

Ramiro said somewhat dejectedly, "I'm sorry, Scott, I didn't expect to involve you in this."

"Hmph, since he's your cousin, he must hold some weight in Caleb's eyes, right?" Candra smiled smugly. "With the two of you, things will go much more smoothly."

"So, what exactly is this all about?" Scott asked again. "You want the Hill family to pay a ransom?"

"More or less," Candela smiled mysteriously, without giving any specifics.

"Never mind," Scott sighed. "I was going to try and get some information out of him, but it wasn't that easy."

"Kid, have you been watching too many silly Hollywood movies?"

The middle-aged man behind Scott laughed loudly.

"Do you think you can become a hero just because you have a gun?"

Candela said impatiently, "Stop talking nonsense, we have to get them away immediately, otherwise that girl will call for help."

As she spoke, she moved her hand to Ramiro's waist, gesturing for him to turn and walk forward.

"Did you hear me? Move!"

The middle-aged man pressed the pistol against the back of Scott's head again.

“I can’t take this anymore,” Scott said, waving his wand again.

The next second, the plants on both sides of the "maze" suddenly started to move.

Their branches grew wildly in an instant, like a swarm of snakes dancing wildly.

Before the two robbers could react, the branches had already bound them tightly and dragged them to the ground.

"you you you you……"

The two robbers seemed to be so terrified that they even forgot to struggle.

"You're a devil!"

Both of them looked at Scott in horror.

"It really hurts a bit."

Scott rubbed the back of his head.

"What demon? I'm a wizard!"

He walked up to the middle-aged man and kicked him hard.

"Oh, Scott!" Ramiro ran to Scott's side, stammering, "You...you...you...you're a wizard?"

His voice cracked when he spoke.

"Calm down, cousin."

Scott reached out and slapped him hard on the back.

What's going on with these two people?

“Oh, this old woman isn’t Candela!” Ramiro said angrily.

“I know!” Scott said irritably. “I’m asking you what happened.”

Ramiro said to himself, "But I suspect that Candela is in cahoots with them!"

He took a breath before recounting what had happened: "Kandela asked me to bring her here to play today, but we were separated in the maze for a while, and then Kandra suddenly disappeared, and then this woman appeared."

"So, they might have a companion hiding nearby?" Scott became wary again.

Ramiro swallowed and nodded.

"What a hassle. I was originally planning to use it sparingly," Scott sighed, pulling a small glass bottle, about the size of a thumb, from his pocket and handing it to Ramiro.

“Feed one of them some of this,” he said.

"What is this?" Ramiro curiously examined the small glass bottle in his hand, shaking the half-full bottle of clear liquid inside.

“Truth serum,” Scott said irritably. “I went through a lot of trouble to get my hands on it, so we have to use it sparingly. Three drops per person is enough.”

"Truth serum?" Ramiro's eyes widened in excitement.

He hurriedly squatted down and enthusiastically fed the woman the medicine.

He collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

Scott then cast a stun spell on the man.

Ramiro turned and looked at Scott in amazement, then muttered to himself as he fed the woman the medicine.

"One, two, three, three drops, done."

Seeing him looking up at him, Scott said helplessly, "Go ahead and ask. She'll only tell the truth now."

"Veritable serum... Is this really real?" Ramiro's eyes lit up instantly.

Scott nodded affirmatively.

Ramiro coughed a few times excitedly, then asked the woman in a deep voice, "Tell me your purpose! And where is Candela?"

The woman spoke groggily, "Our goal is to kidnap Ramiro Hill, the youngest son of the Hill family, so we can negotiate with Caleb Hill. Candra was knocked unconscious and left in a corner of the maze."

“Oh, Candela isn’t with them!” Ramiro said happily.

Scott glanced at him and asked the woman, "What terms do you want to negotiate with Caleb?"

"We're tracking down an antique map," the woman said.

It really is related to the Reis map!

Scott frowned.

"What antique map?" Ramiro was a little confused.

“We don’t know,” the woman replied. “We just followed instructions.”

Scott narrowed his eyes and asked, "Who ordered you to do this?"

The woman replied, "A man we don't know."

Scott immediately understood.

It seems someone secretly hired these two thugs to test us.

Perhaps the other party is also unsure whether the Reis map is actually at Hill's house.

However, that's probably all the desperate men know.

"What time and place do you agree to meet next?" Scott asked again.

“There was no agreed meeting,” the woman said. “The man said that if we found the antique map, he would know as soon as I dyed my hair red, and then he would pay us the balance.”

Scott cast a stun spell on the woman and then used a spell to wake the man, having Ramiro give him three drops of truth serum.

He and Ramiro asked the same question again and received the same answer from the man.

After confirming that there would be no further gains, Scott struck the man with a Stunning Spell again.

He then waved his wand again, restoring the plants that were wrapped around the two of them to their original state.

"What's going on?" Ramiro stood up, bewildered. "How come I didn't know we had an antique map that people wanted?"

Scott bent down, picked up the three guns, and handed one of them to Ramiro.

Then he extended his palm toward Ramiro.

"What?" Ramiro asked, feigning ignorance.

“Truth serum,” Scott said.

"Oh dear cousin, can't you give it to me?" Ramiro was extremely reluctant.

“No,” Scott said. “Everything about wizards must be kept secret, or things will go into chaos.”

Ramiro reluctantly placed the small glass bottle in Scott's hand, muttering, "Are all wizards this stingy? What's wrong with sharing some of their magic with us?"

Scott put away the truth serum and said irritably, "You'd better find a way to contact Uncle Caleb quickly, otherwise how are we supposed to handle things here?"

"Oh right!" Ramiro glanced at the two unconscious people on the ground, then took out a black cell phone from his pocket to make a call.

"Oh my god! They're alright!"

Just then, Benita ran over with the driver who had driven them that day, accompanied by a group of staff members from El Capricho Park.
