Fred shook his head. "You idiot! No matter what kind of magic it is, it can't last this long without anyone maintaining it!"
“Let’s just take this rumor with a grain of salt,” Scott analyzed seriously. “I think the most likely explanation for what happened tonight is that someone is trying to use this rumor to do something.”
Fred agreed with him, “Perhaps there really is such a thing as a ‘Slytherin Heir’? Of course, that title might just be self-proclaimed by that troublemaker.”
“We don’t need to care whether the rumors are true or false, but this is definitely not a prank by ordinary students. I can tell from the petrified state of the cat.”
Scott spoke confidently, extending a hand to the twins.
He smiled at the two of them. "So I'd like to invite you two adventure experts to help us find that so-called 'Slytherin heir.' What do you think of that idea?"
"Oh! I find this very interesting!"
Fred took Scott's hand without hesitation.
"I think so too!"
George excitedly placed his hand on their clasped hands.

Chapter 053 Eddie's Reaction and Decision
Scott and the Weasley twins clasped hands and smiled at each other.
Fred and George were both quite excited; they clearly considered this an unprecedented event.
"Finding the 'Slytherin successor' hidden in Hogwarts is obviously a very challenging task."
George was the first to let go, then rested his chin on his hand, assuming a serious, thoughtful expression.
"That so-called 'successor' must be hiding very well."
Fred withdrew his hand and pretended to push up his non-existent glasses.
He said, "We must find a clever way to make the hidden 'successor' reveal his own flaws!"
“I think it’s about taking the initiative,” Scott said with a smile. “We can’t wait for that so-called ‘successor’ to commit another crime and then chase after him for clues.”
"It seems you already have some ideas?" Fred immediately understood and smiled as well.
"I do have some ideas."
Scott nodded, then took out his pocket watch and checked the time.
“But we need to go back to the college common room first. The professors might be making room checks tonight,” he told the twins. “We’d better come out a little later, around 1 a.m., still in this classroom.”
"It's already past 9 p.m."
George glanced down at the pocket watch in Scott's hand, then reached out and patted Fred on the shoulder.
“We must get back to Gryffindor Tower first so that Percy can see us before he goes to sleep.”
Fred immediately looked uncomfortable. "Otherwise, he'll write to Mom to complain? Oh! He certainly will!"
“See you at 1 a.m., Scott,” George said mysteriously to Scott. “You don’t know this yet, but we have a huge advantage in this matter that no one else has—a secret weapon!”
Fred looked at George with a serious expression. "Brother, have you decided to show Scott that secret weapon?"
“It’s necessary, isn’t it?” George met his gaze.
“Indeed!” Fred laughed. “And I’ve always looked forward to the day when I could use it to shock people.”
“Just as I thought.” George blinked.
The two of them smiled mysteriously at Scott, "Stay tuned!"
Scott returned to his dorm room only to find that none of his roommates were there. So he went to the bathroom to wash off the smell of food he had picked up at the dinner party.
When he approached the dormitory again with wet hair, Eddie had already returned.
He was sitting on the bed organizing his "goods" when he heard the noise and turned to look at Scott.
"Scott, why didn't you change into your pajamas after your shower?" he asked casually at first, then quickly realized, "Are you going out later?"
"Yes."
Scott walked to his bedside and put down the basket of dirty clothes he was carrying.
"So you've started dating too?" Eddie asked with great interest. "Is it a girl from our college?"
"It's not a date."
Scott turned and sat on the single sofa by the window, using a drying spell on his hair.
He told Eddie, "The Weasley twins and I are going to find out the so-called 'Slytherin successor.' And my plan needs your involvement, Eddie."
Eddie paused, turned around and looked at him in surprise, "Didn't that Potter do that?"
“Of course not,” Scott said. “I sensed the magic, and I’m certain that some kind of very powerful dark magic petrified the cat. Potter couldn’t have done that.”
Eddie stubbornly replied, "I thought the cat was dead, but who knows? You know, Potter defeated Mystic at birth."
“He’s special, isn’t he?” He got more and more excited as he spoke. “Maybe Potter is the destined new Dark Lord? And he’s already awakened…”
Scott stared at him speechlessly until he changed the subject.
“Okay, okay, you’re right.” Eddie raised his hands in surrender. “Potter is obviously a simpleton.”
He put down the cheap glass bottle in his hand. "Of course I believe you, Scott. But..."
His expression showed some worry.
"Since you know it's powerful and evil black magic, why did you investigate it? This is so unlike you."
Scott calmly reminded him, "You know about the rumors of the 'Slytherin Chamber of Secrets,' Eddie."
"Of course I know!"
Eddie suddenly realized something and his eyes widened.
Scott looked at his expression and couldn't help but curl his lips into a smile. Eddie, who was always keen on digging up all sorts of gossip, had a very keen sense of information.
“You mean…” Eddie’s tone was uncertain, “regardless of whether the message on that wall on the third floor is true or false, the person who did this might use the secret chamber rumors to target Muggle-born wizards?”
That's what I think.
Scott gave an affirmative answer.
“Given our background, this could be a crisis for us, and we must take the initiative,” he said earnestly.
Eddie remained hesitant and said, "If it's really as you say, investigating this is dangerous, Scott."
He even began to persuade Scott, "We all know that Headmaster Dumbledore and Professor Flitwick are already handling this matter, and we should trust them."
"Don't worry, Eddie."
Scott brushed his now-dry hair aside and put down his wand.
“There will be no danger,” he said with a smile. “My plan is not to confront the hidden ‘successor’ head-on, but to find a way to expose him.”
He stood up, took a clean black cloak from the wardrobe, and continued to say to Eddie, "And what you have to do is even simpler."
He turned to Eddie. "All you have to do is cooperate with me and Weasley's operation tonight, and spread a rumor among the students as quickly as possible after dawn tomorrow."
"Are you sure you and those two Weasleys won't be in danger?" Eddie looked at him with some skepticism.
"I'm sure."
Scott put on his cloak and a pair of gloves, saying with a smile, "We're just going to leave another line under 'The Heir's' message."
"what?"
Eddie asked curiously.
"Of course..."
Scott put on his gloves, walked over, and said something softly.
Eddie's eyes widened, and he asked uncertainly, "Like this?...Will it work?"
Scott chuckled. "Oh, don't worry, the twins and I won't give anyone any leverage over us."
Eddie shook his head. "No, I meant those Slytherin people might..."
“Trust me, Eddie. They can’t do it,” Scott said confidently.
“What about Professor Snape?” Eddie asked again.
However, judging from his expression, he was already eager to try.
“That’s why I had you spread the rumors among the students as quickly as possible,” Scott emphasized, “while making sure the professors heard about them more slowly.”
Eddie finally let go of his worries and smiled confidently.
“I understand, I can do it,” he said.

Chapter 054 Conversation with Ms. Gray
"Don't tell Roger and Milton about this yet."
Scott gave Eddie a word of advice, then dressed neatly and left the dormitory.
It was still far from the time he had agreed upon with the Weasley twins, but he decided to go to the empty classroom on the third floor of the main building to make some preparations.
However, as he passed the common room, he suddenly changed his mind—after he saw Ms. Grey floating alone in front of the library bookshelves.
Perhaps because it was Halloween Eve, there were no students reading in the small library, which belonged to the Ravenclaw College common room.
Scott walked into the library alone, stopped five steps behind Ms. Gray, and politely began to speak.
"Hello, Ms. Gray."
Ms. Gray turned around and looked at Scott with a very indifferent gaze.
"Is there something you need?" she asked casually.
Scott didn't care about the ghost lady's proud and aloof attitude; she was like that to everyone.
If the person greeting her isn't a Ravenclaw student, she won't even say a word.
Scott maintained a polite demeanor and slowly began, "Excuse me, but are you aware of what happened after the dinner party tonight?"
