Scott said calmly, "To be fair, when someone wants my life, it means they're betting their own life on the table. Although I don't gamble willingly, when I win, I take all the chips on the table."
Luna fell into deep thought.
Scott, on the contrary, became curious.
"Can you tell me what you see in me?" he asked.
Luna shook her head. "I don't know, but the brain-wracking fly living in my eyes reminded me that when I was reading the newspaper, oh, and then I saw you, and I felt I should talk to you."
Her words were incoherent, and Scott didn't immediately understand what she meant.
"You saw me in the newspaper?" He was extremely surprised. "You can even see the causal chain?"
"What?" Luna looked confused.
Scott shook his head without explaining.
He himself felt that his statement was too exaggerated.
Whatever the reason, whether he actually saw it or it was intuition, he knew that Luna was seriously connecting him with the contents of the newspaper.
Scott looked at Luna again, and seeing that she seemed lost in thought, he had no choice but to ask, "Luna, do you think I did something wrong now?"
“I don’t know.” Luna was even more confused. “I want to say you made a mistake. I don’t like revenge. Of course, your personality has always been completely different from mine, and I can tell that. I mean… but I can’t expect everyone to be like me…”
As she spoke, a troubled expression appeared on her face.
Scott said, "Yes, you're a forgiving guy, but I'm different. Whoever messes with me, I'll get my revenge. Of course, it'll be an equal revenge. If someone insults me, I'll just beat them up. If someone tries to kill me or threatens my life, they'll die."
He also wanted to learn from Luna and become a better person, but he couldn't.
"Why?" Luna seemed a little confused.
Scott shrugged. "That's fair, isn't it?"
He looked directly into Luna's eyes, wanting to know what choice the girl would make.
If she feels she should tell someone what he did...
So, while Scott wouldn't hurt her, he would choose to force her to sign a contract she couldn't tell anyone.
Chapter 395 Luna, who is about to become an accomplice
Scott looked at Luna, wanting to know her choice.
But after thinking about it, Luna asked Scott a question.
"What would you do?" she asked him with a curious look. "I know you wouldn't want me to tell anyone about your situation."
Scott was no longer surprised by her reaction.
He answered truthfully, "I will sign a contract with you to bind you to keep it confidential."
Luna didn't speak immediately after hearing this, but stared at Scott for a while.
She then nodded directly, "Okay, I agree to sign a contract with you."
Scott then showed a surprised expression.
Luna asked in a light tone, "Are you surprised?"
“I was indeed a bit surprised,” Scott said.
Luna smiled faintly again, with a hint of smugness.
“A contract should be between the two parties,” she said lightly. “I can keep it a secret and not tell anyone about your affairs, but you should also agree to my conditions.”
Scott raised an eyebrow. "Go ahead."
Luna said seriously, "My condition is that you won't lie to me."
Scott was taken aback.
He asked in surprise, "You mean, if I stop telling you any lies, you won't tell anyone about me, whether it's from the past or the future?"
"Yes!" Luna nodded affirmatively.
“I don’t quite understand,” Scott said, looking into Luna’s eyes. “This isn’t exactly a fair clause; in fact, it’s in my favor.”
Luna tilted her head and asked in confusion, "What does it have to do with anything? You said we're friends."
Scott asked softly, "But are you the kind of person who would indulge your friends?"
“I’m not,” Luna said, “so I’ll be watching you.”
Scott laughed. "But that means what I did in the past is in the past, and you can't stop me from doing what I want to do in the future. You can't even tell anyone."
Luna nodded again. "I know."
Scott said, "I can't think of a reason why you made this choice."
Luna lowered her head, looking somewhat troubled, and said, "Because I know I can't stop you, and I don't want to see you locked up in Azkaban because of those things."
As she said this, she looked up and met Scott's gaze, saying in an exceptionally serious tone, "You said we're friends, and I can tell you're serious."
As she said this, she extended her hand.
Scott felt her warm little hand holding three fingers of his left hand.
Luna continued, "If you can't lie to me, I'll know everything about you. If I can't stop you, I'll choose to get involved."
Scott was touched by her earnest expression.
He knew in his heart that although he did consider Luna a friend, the two of them treated each other differently in terms of attitude and effort.
At that moment, looking into Luna's pure and bright eyes, he even felt a little ashamed of himself.
At the same time, he also began to feel a headache.
After a long while, he spoke again.
At this moment, his voice was a little hoarse, "Do you think I'll have any reservations if you become my accomplice? Luna, I've always thought you were a smart girl."
Luna tightened her grip on Scott's fingers, and a smile returned to her face, tinged with a hint of slyness.
“You said we were friends,” she said somewhat stubbornly. “I don’t think I did anything unwise.”
Scott frowned, already considering whether or not to agree to Luna's contract terms.
Because he really couldn't bear to let such a little girl get involved in his affairs.
Luna seemed to sense his hesitation and quickly said, "Since we've agreed, we can't go back on our word."
She looked directly into Scott's eyes. "I'm prepared, and I've got your hand on my arm. You can't ambush me and force me to sign the contract."
"Okay," Scott said somewhat helplessly, "I give up."
Then Luna laughed again.
Scott was certainly capable of forcing Luna to sign a contract, but ultimately, he was still a normal person.
He can retaliate fiercely against malice, sometimes even going so far as to escalate the conflict. But he cannot repay kindness with malice.
Especially when faced with such pure friendship and care, he followed his heart and compromised.
"Then let's get started."
Luna released his hand and looked at him expectantly.
Scott took a piece of parchment from the shapeshifting lizard skin bag hanging at his waist, and then pulled out his wand.
He waved his wand, and words slowly appeared on the parchment.
Once the contents of the contract were fully visible on the parchment, he used his wand to draw several intricate, golden, shimmering patterns on the paper.
When the pattern disappeared, Scott released his grip, and the parchment floated in the air, the contract completed.
He told Luna, "Next, as long as we sign our names on the paper with magic, this contract will take effect."
"I'll go first." Luna raised her wand directly.
"Aren't you going to reconsider?" Scott asked.
Luna waved her wand, using magic to leave her shimmering name in the air.
[Luna Lovegood]
Watching her name fly up and quickly attach itself to the parchment, Luna turned to look at Scott.
Scott also waved his wand.
[Scott Trollope]
Two glittering names appeared on the parchment.
As the light from their names faded and they turned black, it signified that the contract had officially come into effect.
Luna reached out and took the parchment, carefully rolled it up, and put it in her pocket.
She jumped down from the flower bed and looked up at Scott.
“I’ll take care of it,” she said.
Scott shrugged. "I have no objection."
Luna put down the parchment, skipped a few steps, and then turned to face Scott.
“Now it’s your turn to answer my questions,” she said. “You can’t lie.”
Scott reminded her, "While I can't lie, I can choose not to answer."
"It's alright," Luna said, unconcerned.
She pointed to her eyes, "Even if you don't answer, the little guy living in my eyes will tell me the answer."
She blinked again, "Although it's a bit blurry."
Scott placed the wand into its sheath, which was secured to the lining of his robes. "Well, what do you want to ask?"
Luna composed herself, looking somewhat serious. "I want to know why you did what was in the newspaper."
“I already said,” Scott replied, “they all tried to kill me.”
“I want to know the details,” Luna emphasized.
Scott asked, "Do you really want to hear it?"
