Professor Flitwick frowned upon hearing this. "Dumbledore has been invited to London by Fudge."

Scott raised an eyebrow.

He never expected that it would be Fudge who led Dumbledore away.

Since Fudge wasn't on the Death Eaters' side, he probably wouldn't have the guts to betray Medea.

So, someone took advantage of him.

and……

He glanced at his companions, and there were still some things he didn't say to their faces.

“Let’s go back to the castle first,” Professor McGonagall said seriously.

Scott restored the "Oak Guardian" and then dismissed the crows.

"They sacrificed themselves to save us."

Luna said something softly, then silently picked up the dead crows' bodies and put them in her robe without any hesitation.

"We'll go help too."

Milton also began helping to clean up the crows' carcasses.

Roger and Eddie then started digging a hole.

Scott watched their movements and walked over to Roger and Eddie.

After the two finished digging the pit, Luna and Milton also came over carrying the crows' corpses in their robes.

"let it go."

Scott crouched down.

After Luna and Milton placed the crows' carcasses on the ground, he reached out, picked one up, smoothed its feathers, and gently placed it in the pit.

Everyone else followed his example and started doing the same.

Professors McGonagall and Frivi simply watched the students' actions without saying a word to stop them.

After all the bodies were placed in the pit, Scott filled it with soil by hand.

"Let's go."

He stood up.

They then returned to the castle and took the injured Thestral to the school hospital.

Before long, Hagrid and Grapland rushed over.

"Oh, thank you, thank you for saving it, the poor thing!" Hagrid said excitedly to Scott and the others.

Grapland still wore a friendly smile.

Scott and she exchanged a glance, but neither noticed anything unusual.

Although he couldn't see anything unusual, he was certain that the woman was involved in the matter.

If he wasn't mistaken, the magical fluctuations he sensed twice in the Forbidden Forest, which vanished just as quickly, belonged to Mr. Bode.

Today's surprise attack might actually have been orchestrated by Mr. Bode, with the Carlo siblings merely his pawns.

Unfortunately, Mr. Bode, who was hiding in the shadows, did not make any move, or rather, before he could do anything, the professors arrived in time.

Perhaps, like the Carol siblings, he underestimated Scott's abilities.

After leaving the school hospital, Scott said something to his companions and then followed the two professors to Professor McGonagall's office.

“I have informed Dumbledore,” Professor McGonagall said.

As they entered and sat down, Dumbledore emerged from the fireplace.

"Are the students all doing well?" he asked.

“No one was hurt,” Professor McGonagall said, glancing at Scott. “The students sent out a distress signal in time, holding off the two Death Eaters’ attack until we arrived.”

Dumbledore also looked at Scott.

Scott then recounted the entire incident in detail.

"So, there's someone else hiding behind the Carlo siblings?" Dumbledore asked, somewhat surprised.

He thought for a moment, then asked, "Who do you think it is, Scott?"

“Broderick Bode,” Scott said directly, “and Miss Stephanie Grapland.”

"them?"

Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick both looked at him with surprise.

Dumbledore, however, was not as surprised as they were.

"So, what's your basis, Scott?" he asked with a smile.

Scott said, "They were all members of the Scholars' Union. Miss Grapland was under Mr. Bode's command, and even my admission to the Scholars' Union was decided by Mr. Bode."

Chapter 400 Conversation in Professor McGonagall's Office

"Mr. Bode and Miss Grapland?"

Professor McGonagall was clearly trying to recall who Mr. Bode really was.

Professor Flitwick also looked puzzled.

Clearly, Mr. Bode was a very low-key person.

Only Dumbledore immediately recognized who the other person was.

"Broderick?" He looked very surprised.

Scott nodded. "We met him at the Ministry of Magic last time. The Silent One from the Department of Mysteries. You were the one who told me his name."

"It's him!"

Upon hearing the name of the Silent Man, both Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick immediately remembered who Mr. Bode was.

Professor Flitwick added, "No wonder we didn't think of it at first. It has to be said that the silent people in the Department of Mysteries are almost invisible."

Dumbledore was clearly more interested in what Scott had said.

He looked at Scott and said, "Since you say that, you must have some evidence."

Scott knew that since he had chosen to expose Mr. Bode and Grapland, he had to be reasonable and well-founded.

He tapped the eagle-shaped brooch pinned to his robe and played the recording he had prepared beforehand.

The recordings contained several conversations between him and Miss Grapland.

From the night Grapland invited him and his roommates to the classical music club's activity room through Cachini, every conversation thereafter was recorded.

The recording finished playing after about an hour.

Professor McGonagall was the first to react.

Her lips were pressed tightly together, and she stared at Scott with a stern look.

“What have I told you, Mr. Trollope?” she said angrily. “I’ve told you so many times, when you have a problem, go to your professor first!”

Scott lowered his head somewhat guiltily.

Professor McGonagall continued to criticize him, "But what have you done? You've kept so many things a secret until today, when you and your classmates were almost killed by two vicious Death Eaters, and only now do you finally tell us the truth!"

“Minerva is right!” Professor Flitwick also criticized him sternly, “The danger you all encountered today almost cost you your lives! Did you even consider the consequences?”

Scott lowered his head even further.

"I'm sorry," he apologized sincerely. "I've dragged my friends into this, and they almost suffered irreparable harm."

He wasn't without lingering fear.

He didn't have time to think when he was attacked, but he was still very scared afterward.

Whether it's his three roommates or Luna, whoever it is, he is to blame if any one of them gets hurt.

Not to mention... if someone were to actually die because of his negligence...

He couldn't even imagine that possibility.

If that were to actually happen, he wouldn't even know how to face it.

He will live with guilt for the rest of his life and will never be able to let go of it.

For these reasons, he tried to be conservative in battle and didn't even consider killing the Carlo siblings.

He was very clear-headed; in that situation, his priority should have been protecting his friends, not defeating the enemy.

Only he himself knew how much pressure he was under at the time.

So when the professors appeared in the Forbidden Forest just in time, he couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, and didn't even bother with the escape of the Carlo siblings.

Of course, this is also why he decided to tell the professors.

He was worried that if he continued to bear this threat alone, he might implicate his friends again someday.

Professor McGonagall was not entirely convinced by Scott's sincere apology.

“I’m angry not only because you almost got your friend into trouble, Mr. Trollope!” her stern voice rang out again, “but also because of yourself! Because you put yourself in danger without telling us professors!”

"I'm sorry, Professor."

Hearing her stern words, Scott was somewhat moved, so he sincerely apologized again.

Professor Flitwick was the first to soften his heart.

“I’m not blaming you, Scott,” he softened his tone, “but I hope you learn from this lesson.”

Scott nodded quickly.

Professor McGonagall disagreed with Professor Flitwick letting the matter drop so easily.

She gave a stern snort and said to Professor Flitwick, "Felius, we are responsible for the students' safety, so we must give Mr. Trollope the necessary punishment so that he will truly remember this lesson!"

Scott agreed with her and nodded.

“It’s alright, Minerva,” Dumbledore said. “Scott is a bright boy, and I’m sure he’s remembered it well.”
