"I am back."
Artoria, dressed in men's clothing, walked in from outside looking exhausted.
Upon seeing the food on the table, her eyes instantly sharpened.
Welcome back.
Yanan smiled.
"Ah, teacher, you're back after all..."
Artoria turned her head, but suddenly froze.
Guinevere, with a half-eaten piece of bread in her mouth, stared blankly at Artoria.
The two looked at each other, as if time had stopped at that moment.
Yanan still wore that calm smile on his face, but inside he was laughing his head off.
That's right! I wanted to see you two looking like this, completely bewildered!
Artoria was the first to come to her senses, her expression a mixture of strangeness and embarrassment.
"Teacher, what... what's going on?"
Guinevere was still a little confused. Why was there a man here who looked so much like her?
Yanan didn't keep them in suspense any longer and revealed Guinevere's identity in its entirety.
"Her name is Guinevere, and she is Morgan le Fay's sister. By blood, she is your sister, Lily."
Morgan's sister, my... sister?
Artoria was completely bewildered. She had indeed heard Merlin mention that she had an older sister she had never met, named Morgan le Fay, a witch who inherited the [Power of the Island] and was also her greatest enemy on her path to becoming queen.
But she had never heard of having an older sister named Guinevere.
Guinevere was even more confused. Wasn't this a man in front of her? Why would Yanan say that she and he were sisters?
So Anaen also told Guinevere about Artoria's identity.
"The future...King Arthur?"
Guinevere gently covered her mouth, looking at Artoria in surprise.
Kai suddenly stood up, looking exasperated, and pulled Yanan out.
Yanan did not resist and let Kai lead him outside.
"Do you even know what you're doing!" Kay glared at Annan. "That's Morgan le Fay's sister! You just told her Lily's identity so easily?!"
"Is there a problem?" Yanan asked with a smile.
Kai's face twitched. For some reason, seeing Yanan's appearance, he suddenly felt like he was facing Merlin—the kind of feeling that made him want to punch someone in the face.
"Morgan le Fay is the heir to the [Island Power], and by rights she should be the successor to the late king. But now Lily is destined to become King Arthur. Their relationship is like fire and water. Morgan will definitely do everything in her power to prevent Lily from ascending the throne!" Kay roared. "At a time like this, you actually revealed Lily's identity to the people around her. You bastard, are you trying to kill Lily?!"
boom!
An iron fist slammed into Kai's head.
"Ouch! That hurts..."
Yanan waved his hand: "I just told you that you should be polite to your teachers and elders. Don't be so disrespectful all the time."
Kai looked at Anahn with a resentful expression: "We're about the same age."
“I am the tutor hired by your father. A tutor is an elder. Is there a problem?” Yanan sneered.
"But don't keep hitting my head, it'll make me stupid," Kai complained.
"You can't even see something this simple? With your IQ, you're better off without it," Yanan sneered.
Seeing the questioning look in Kai's eyes, Yanan said calmly, "Do you really think Morgan doesn't know about Lily's existence?"
“Lily was hidden away by the late King and Merlin, so Morgan couldn’t possibly know that,” Kelley said matter-of-factly.
“If it were anyone else, it might be possible to be deceived, but Morgan is King Uther’s biological daughter, the inheritor of the [Island Power], and the magician second only to Merlin in all of Britain. Do you really think that with her abilities, she couldn’t find Lily’s whereabouts in more than ten years? If that’s the case, I think Camelot should just be destroyed.”
Kai was left speechless by the rebuttal.
"Even if Morgan truly didn't know Lily existed, she would find out someday. Would she then let Lily go?"
Kai muttered, "We can keep it a secret for as long as we can..."
“If Lily hadn’t grown up, you wouldn’t be wrong to say that. But now that the day of the election is approaching, Lily will have to step forward. If she doesn’t even dare to face Morgan, how can she shoulder the heavy responsibility of this nation?” Yanan said in a deep voice.
Kai was completely speechless.
Yanan sighed: "Actually, I've always felt that Morgan shouldn't be Lily's enemy. They are both children of the late king, sisters, and pillars of Camelot's future. If they can support each other, this country will surely go further."
“I advise you to stop daydreaming,” Kay said, curling his lip. “My father said Morgan is an extremely competitive and jealous woman. Once something is hers, no one can take a single thing from her. If she obediently relinquishes the throne, I’ll rip my head off and use it as a chamber pot!”
“No matter how difficult something is, you have to try it to see if there’s any chance of success. If you don’t even have the courage to try, what’s the difference between you and a coward?” Yanan patted Kai on the shoulder. “Besides, don’t we have a perfect opportunity right now?”
Kai raised an eyebrow: "Guinevere?"
“That’s right,” Yanan smiled. “Using Guinevere as a bridge to connect Lily and Morgan, don’t you think this plan is very feasible?”
Chapter Nineteen: Something's happened!
Although Guinevere was somewhat afraid of Morgan, it was clear that she had spent a lot of time with him, and given that there wasn't such a tense relationship between her and Artoria, she was perfectly capable of acting as the middleman.
This is why Anahn brought Guinevere back to see Artoria—as for satisfying his morbid curiosity about seeing iconic scenes, that was just a side effect, of course.
Yes, that's right, that's exactly it.
Kai looked at Yanan with a complicated expression.
He felt that Yanan was a strange person, a strange person who was different from everyone around him.
Neither his father nor Merlin considered Morgan, that crazy woman, to be someone who could be won over, especially since she had inherited the [Island Power]. Their relationship was practically irreconcilable.
But Anahn doesn't think so, and even fantasizes that Artoria and Morgan le Fay can put aside their differences and work together.
Is it naivety? But looking at Yanan's face, one can only feel his unwavering confidence.
Even the most difficult things must be done to find out if there's any possibility of success. If you don't even have the courage to try, what's the difference between you and a coward?
So that's how it is. That's why you came up with such a wild idea as using Guinevere as a bridge to ease the tension between Morgan le Fay and Artoria.
Because we haven't given up, we won't overlook any possible way to solve the problem.
Kai suddenly remembered the stories his father had told him about heroes—people who never despaired no matter what situation they were in, who could always complete all sorts of incredible challenges and turn the impossible into the possible.
Although it was surprising to hear, he seemed to see something truly like a [hero] in Yanan.
……
……
Back in the house, seeing Artoria sitting next to Guinevere chatting and laughing, Anahn looked slightly surprised.
They've only been gone for a short while, and their relationship has already become so good?
Yanan knew very well how timid Guinevere was; she was practically like a hamster, and the slightest touch would bring tears to her eyes.
But judging from how she interacts with Artoria now, she has clearly let her guard down completely.
They truly are a perfect match as "husband and wife"...
Yanan sat back down in his seat. Guinevere, far from being afraid of him as before, even gave him a slight smile.
"Are you done talking?"
"Ah? Oh... um, we've finished talking. It was just a small matter."
Yanan was slightly taken aback and looked at Artoria strangely. What exactly did this girl say to Guinevere? She seemed like a completely different person.
Artoria didn't meet Yanan's gaze, but simply lowered her head and ate the bread in her hand.
—Of course, she dared not tell Anahn that she had just been earnestly explaining to Guinevere that he was not a perverted magician who liked to play basement imprisonment games.
Kai returned to his seat, no longer showing the same level of hostility towards Guinevere.
The atmosphere at the dinner table suddenly became harmonious.
However, Yanan suddenly remembered something else strange.
"By the way, Lily, why did you come back so late?"
He had taken a long route and had been delayed by Guinevere for a very long time. Logically, Artoria should have returned directly after not finding him at the blacksmith's shop, so why was she lagging behind him?
"Because I ran into a scumbag on the road!" A rare hint of anger flashed in Artoria's eyes.
She recounted her entire experience.
"This is outrageous! How can someone be like this! Someone kindly took him in, and he still has his eyes on their treasure!"
Surprisingly, it wasn't Kay who spoke up first, but Guinevere.
She clenched her little fists tightly, her face full of indignation.
This made Artoria very gratified, and she said earnestly to Guinevere, "Guinevere, perhaps you could consider becoming a knight like me. With your sense of justice, you will surely earn the respect of many people."
"Huh?" Guinevere blinked, shrank her neck, and instantly reverted to her hamster-like nature. "I don't want to be a knight. I'm afraid of pain and I don't want to fight."
“Lily, you did the right thing. Keeping such an ungrateful scumbag in the world is an insult to knights!” Kai expressed his strong support for Lily’s actions.
Artoria hesitated for a moment, then said, "But I didn't kill him."
"Didn't kill him?" Kai was stunned.
Artoria nodded: "He is, after all, a knight. He was just blinded by greed for a moment. I wanted to give him another chance, so I held back a little."
"You..." Kai was speechless. There was no need to give a scumbag who could even hurt a pregnant woman a chance to reform.
Yanan frowned, and his expression suddenly became serious.
"Lily, what did you do with that peasant woman?"
"I took her home."
"Where is the dragon blood?"
“I put it back too. It was something she left for her child,” Artoria said honestly.
