Ark Undead

Of course, the Scout squad doesn't sleep at night; they have a lot to do.

Bloodthorn and the Undead shared a room, which was convenient for them. The Undead found a basin and some firewood and spent the night there, while Bloodthorn slept soundly in bed, not caring whether it was cold or hot.

The next morning, before the sun had even risen, Scout came to the Undead's place and knocked on the door.

They strolled around the area last night, figuring out the routes around the entire inn, and are here now to discuss something with the Undead and Bloodthorn.

"Your wanted posters are plastered all over Chernobog. Did you do something in Chernobog?"

Scout opens the Undead's room and his first question is to Bloodthorn.

This isn't an interrogation; it's about eliminating all potential dangers. If Bloodthorn runs into trouble, we can all work together to find a solution.

Bloodthorn then told Scout how he had saved a family from the Ursus search party.

Upon hearing this, Scout couldn't help but frown.

"You shouldn't go out during the day, and you shouldn't go to crowded places at night either, because you're still too conspicuous."

"I expected this. Anyway, I'm just idling around, so I can just stay in the hotel. At worst, I can just sleep."

Bloodthorn yawned, looking like he hadn't woken up yet.

"This is a good opportunity to catch up on all the sleep I missed before... Hmm, I'm sleepy again."

He stretched, lay back down on the bed, closed his eyes, and soon his breathing was back to its usual zzzzzz sound.

"..."

Scout blinked, completely bewildered. Wasn't Bloodthorn very energetic yesterday? Why is it acting like a hibernating bear today?

"He used to be forced to train by the Knights' Association in order to become a competitive knight. Now he looks much better than he did back then."

The Undead spoke up to explain, and although the reason still sounded ridiculous, at least it was a reason.

Since Bloodthorn is willing to stay in the room, one danger factor has been eliminated.

However, there is one more thing.

"Mr. Undead, do you have any other clothes you can change into?"

Scout glanced at the undead beside him. Feeling that it wasn't appropriate for him to stand in the doorway, he went into the room, closed the door, and sat down by the undead's campfire.

"Your armor is too conspicuous in Ursus; you'll easily be reported as an infected person."

The Undead clicked his tongue; he still didn't want to take off his armor.

Fortunately, Melanie thought of these things when she helped him pack his things. One of the two bags he carried happened to contain his work clothes and formal attire.

"Yes, don't worry."

"That's fine then, otherwise you'd just have to stay in the hotel anyway."

Scout breathed a sigh of relief. The undead were the hardest to deal with; heaven knows what price he would have to pay to get them to take off their armor. Fortunately, he knew it was a mission and was willing to remove his precious armor.

Now that we've entered the city, things proceeded smoothly.

The Undead's purpose in coming to Chernobog was simply to act as a reassurance and help stabilize the situation there; he didn't need to worry about anything else.

Scout and his team had their own mission. After explaining the things to be careful about to the Undead, Scout left the hotel with a few scouts.

They changed their equipment, concealed their gear, and disguised themselves as traveling merchants, wandering throughout the city of Chernobog to gather information about their target.

Changyin and Tuding were left at the hotel, protected by Yulan and Mimi.

Of course, this is also because Scout trusts the strength of the Undead and Bloodthorn; otherwise, he would have kept a few more people with him.

However, shortly after Scout left the inn, a young girl appeared outside the inn where the undead were staying.

Her black and red outfit, paired with her silver-white hair, made her stand out in the lightly snowy weather.

She looked up slightly at the building in front of her, which was so old that it could be called a dangerous building, and wondered whether she should go in.

Her crimson eyes revealed her race; she was a Sarkaz woman.

"A guest has arrived?"

The shop owner heard footsteps at the door, then looked up to greet the customer.

But when he looked up, there was nothing in front of the door. When he listened more carefully, he could hear nothing but the sound of the wind blowing snowflakes into the room.

Did I hear that right?

The shop owner muttered to himself, put his hands in his pockets, hunched his neck, walked to the door, and laboriously pulled his hands out of his sleeves before closing the door.

In this awful weather, it's probably best not to leave the gates open. And nobody's going to be coming into town at this time of year anyway.

Just as the shop owner turned around, he saw someone coming down the stairs.

"Oh, is the old man going out?"

The shop owner greeted the old man with a smile and asked.

"Are you planning to go stock up?"

"Ah."

The man who arrived was an elderly man wearing a black leather jacket and sturdy boots.

His long, snow-white but smooth hair gives the impression that he is still full of energy.

He had golden eyes and slender eyebrows, and a robust physique with near-perfect height proportions.

If he were a few decades younger, he would surely be a handsome man who could make many noble ladies gasp in amazement.

But now, his eyes no longer hold the sharpness and arrogance of his youth, only the gentleness and kindness that he has maintained despite countless hardships.

"The clinic is running out of bandages, and the authorities have been cracking down hard lately, so the kids are too afraid to go out. Only my old face is still worth giving face to some people."

The old man's lips curled slightly, and his snow-white beard swayed as he spoke, zipping up his leather jacket and putting his hands in his pockets.

"I'm so sorry to have stayed here for so long."

"Oh, it's alright. We don't have many guests anyway, and the house is just sitting empty. With you all here, it'll be a bit more lively. Besides, it was your clinic that saved my child's life, so it's what I should do."

The shop owner chuckled as he spoke. After thinking for a moment, he asked another question before the old man left the house.

"What do those children want to eat? I'll bring it in to them in a bit."

"As long as it's hot, and light. There's no need to be picky at this point."

The shop owner nodded and noted down the old man's request.

Just as he was about to bury himself in recording today's accounts, the old man in the black jacket seemed to remember something and pulled back the boots he was about to step out the door.

"Speaking of which, did you have guests last night? Were there any problems?"

He lowered his voice and asked the boss.

Ursus has recently been overly strict in its screening of infected individuals. Even this elderly man, who has dedicated half his life to Ursus, was somewhat surprised.

If the store manager is implicated because of our group, that would be terrible.

"It's nothing, they're just some ordinary guests staying on the floor above you. I'll introduce them to you when I have the chance."

The store manager exhaled and rubbed his hands together.

"We've all been talking about that mysterious infected person who helped Ulisa's family leave the city. We thought he had left, but it turns out he's still in the city. We don't know if he went out and came back, or if he never left at all."

"I see."

The old man frowned, thought for a moment, then looked up, his face returning to its initial gentle expression.

"Okay, let's meet sometime. I'm off now."

"Okay! Be back for dinner tonight!"

"Then keep mine, we'll try it when we get back tonight!"

crunch...

The iron gate was pushed open, and the old man, with his hands tucked into his pockets, blended into the predominantly gray city amidst the light snow.

Around the corner of the hotel, a girl peeked out, revealing two tufts of red hair on her head.

"Azazel's boss? All of Azazel's people are here?"

The girl's expression was strange, and she couldn't help but look up at the building again.

Using the informants he had left in the area, he found this place, but little did he expect to find another big fish.

But that wasn't her purpose; it was just an unexpected bonus.

After thinking for a while, she decided to go up and check the situation.

Someone said they saw a group of people enter the hotel last night, but they don't know if it was Scout and his group.

If so, that would be fun.

Thumbtack and Long Sound were resting in the room. Thumbtack was staring at the ceiling, while Long Sound was looking at the snow swirling outside the window. He pulled his clothes up with his still-functioning left hand, feeling a little cold.

Are you hungry?

Yu Lan was still preparing the medicine she carried with her, and Tu Ding's condition was not good. However, with the help of the Undying, his condition had been temporarily stabilized, and he was at least able to open his eyes and regain consciousness.

"Fortunately."

Thumbtack responded, and no one knew what he was thinking, but he just stared at the ceiling above his head.

For a moment, the three of them were at a loss for words. Even if Thumbtack was saved and received treatment, he might still suffer from chronic illness, and whether he could continue to go on missions with the team in the future was uncertain.

Everyone knew the importance of this mission. However, their main task wasn't to rescue the Doctor. Instead, while waiting for Nearl and Ace to rescue the Doctor, they were to carry out another mission of great strategic significance.

Kill the current mercenary leader of the Reunion Movement, the Sarkaz named Garson.

Of course, although they could confirm that the other party was in Chernobog, it would still take a considerable amount of time to investigate their exact location and situation, which would be a significant challenge for both of them.

Yu Lan poured the liquid from the bowl in her hand, soaking the entire clean gauze. Then, she carefully held the gauze, went to Tu Ding's side, lifted his blanket, and revealed his severely deformed legs.

Just as Yulan was changing Tuding's dressing, Changyin subconsciously turned around and glanced at Tuding lying on the bed.

In an instant, Changyin quickly turned his head and looked out the window.

Nothing.
