Instead of immediately opening the file bag, Mu Bai respectfully bowed with his hand on his chest, saying, "I offer you my highest respect, Inspector Camille."

“No need for that, you deserve it.” Camille shrugged and stood up as well. “Alright, this operation in the Ditch area is over. This safe house is yours. Whether you leave now or stay a little longer is up to you.”

"Okay, I look forward to our next collaboration."

"Yes. Also, if you need any more information, just ask—as long as you're willing to contribute a little bit of your labor."

“I will. See you later, Inspector Camille.”

"See you."

Camille came and went quickly, and she was decisive and efficient in her work.

Not long after the main door closed, Jinx's door opened.

She still had a cold demeanor, wearing a thin nightgown, her long blue hair casually hanging down to her waist, and holding the little book about Liu Bei that she had been trying to finish for days.

"Are you going to continue investigating codename C?" she asked.

"It's just a side note." Mu Bai was a little confused, but still answered truthfully, "If he affects me, then we'll find out; if he doesn't, then we can all go our separate ways."

"Oh."

Jinx reached inside her clothes and scratched her thin chest rather ungracefully.

"Count me in."

"Ok?"

"I said, take me with you. Don't you understand? Take, me, one."

The girl rolled her eyes at him and then said, "In exchange, I can give you some information. Just so you know, I don't know much, so don't come back with a disappointed look on your face."

"..." Mu Bai was stunned for a moment, and was about to speak when the familiar system notification sounded first:

[Mission: Final Battle]

[Description: His long-planned scheme has fallen through, but codenamed C is unwilling to give up. He's determined to fight to the death.]

Objective: Kill or arrest the target [codename C]

[Reward: Skill Points *1, [Storm Cutter] Equipment *1]

[Special Reminder: The skill [Wind Control Sword Technique] has reached level 3. There is currently 1 skill point remaining. Completing this task will upgrade Wind Control Sword Technique to the maximum level and unlock the second-tier rune amplification.]

"No problem, let's work together to find out who's codenamed C."

"That's more like it, Xiaobai." After several days, Jinx finally smiled, something she hadn't done in a long time.

Chapter 53 Your Period is Here?

Just like Jinx said, she really doesn't know much.

Her previous role in the "organization" was similar to that of an executor, only responsible for doing things and not for the reasons behind them.

The organization also offered very generous rewards—parts needed to improve the bang-bang gun, fishbone, and stun gun, as well as an inexhaustible supply of fire-chewing grenades.

The organization gave her extremely good equipment and had only one requirement: cause chaos, cause as much chaos as possible in Piltover.

Jinx was happy to accept this.

Madmen don't care about right or wrong, as long as they have the equipment. So she did a lot of bad things for codename C, but none of them resulted in death; at most, they caused property damage.

This collaboration continued until about two weeks ago.

Jinx's betrayal not only revealed Butler's hiding place but also defused all the bombs in the Dance Walk corridor, ruining years of effort by Code C.

Unfortunately, Jinx has never had a direct conversation with Code C. Whether it's delivering equipment or issuing orders, Code C always handles it via mail, so Jinx has no idea who he is.

As for the reason for her betrayal...

蔚。

Codename C was unhappy with Vi's transfer, so she defected, that's all.

"That's all I know." Jinx sprawled arrogantly on the sofa. "Tell me your plan?"

"The plan..."

Mu Bai shook off the jade-like foot that was resting on his thigh with a hint of disgust, and then said:

"Just follow the clues. The creator of the Alchemist Baron's robot should know something. The next target is to find him—Victor."

"You can find him?" Jinx had heard of the wanted criminal's name.

Viktor has been missing since he was driven away by Jayce a year ago. The Piltover Police deployed a large number of officers to conduct a thorough search, but still found nothing.

Some speculate that he may be dead or has fled to other parts of Runeterra.

But Mu Bai knew that he was actually in Zaun, and was alive and well.

“If I said I knew where he was hiding, would you believe me?” Mu Bai laughed. “Down to the street level.”

"Not bad, Little White." Jinx laughed along. "So, when do you plan to set off?"

"As soon as possible," Mu Bai said without hesitation.

Caitlin is still waiting at home. Finish things in Zaun soon and go home.

After we get back, we can sleep on the third floor... cough cough, mainly because the beds on the first floor are too hard and the lighting isn't good, the third floor is more comfortable.

"Okay, I'll go get ready." Jinx jumped up from the sofa, smoothing her hair as she walked into the room, looking very excited.

Looking at the girl's slender figure from behind, Mu Bai couldn't help but ask, "Are you on your period?"

"...?"

"Then why have you been wearing such a long face these past few days?"

It would have been better if he hadn't brought it up, because the moment he did, Jinx became unhappy again, her face darkening.

"Don't worry about it."

The girl slammed the door shut and collapsed onto the bed.

She buried her head in the pillow, a look of disappointment in her beautiful pink eyes, and muttered to herself:

"You're all like this... liars..."

"Whether it's Wei or Xiaobai... they're all liars..."

“You don’t care about me at all…”

"You promised to take care of me... but then you started getting all close to other people... You're all the same, you're all liars..."

"fraud……"

..............................

At the other end of the trench, Jayce, Piltover's youngest scientist, encountered some difficulties.

His wallet was stolen, as were his valuable gadgets. Now, all he has left is a set of clothes and a Hextech warhammer that he never lets go of.

Before coming down there, he never imagined that the environment in the ditch area would be this harsh.

Not only natural disasters, but also man-made disasters.

"damn it……"

Jess grumbled as he sat down on a relatively clean patch of floor, his stomach growling in protest.

If you have no money and no acquaintances, then you can only go hungry.

Who would have thought that just anyone here could be a pickpocket?

From eighty-year-old grandmothers to six-year-old children, anyone with two eyes and one nose will steal things.

Robbers and bandits are one thing; a simple swing of a warhammer can take care of them. But thieves are truly impossible to guard against…

That's...outrageous. It's truly a city teeming with talent, a hidden dragon and crouching tiger in the Gou District.

He hasn't found Viktor yet, and he's going to starve to death on this filthy street... How pathetic...

After resting for a short while, Jess struggled to prop himself up and walked step by step toward the end of the street. The Hextech warhammer in his hand emitted a faint glow.

This was his only way to find Victor—by relying on the Primal Crystal's own sensing capabilities.

The Warhammer's power core was a small fragment of primordial crystal, the majority of which was taken by Viktor.

With enough patience, and by following the direction you sense, you might be able to find Viktor's lair.

Of course, it's only a possibility.

Because it wasn't that he hadn't tried before. He had spent several months searching for those two places, the dance corridor and the mid-level plaza, but unfortunately, he couldn't find them.

The trench area is our last hope.

He had a feeling that Viktor was hiding somewhere in the ditch area...

The Hextech Warhammer seemed to sense its master's hopes, and a dazzling light suddenly burst forth from its handle.

"It's nearby!"

Jess shouted excitedly, all his previous fatigue vanished, and every cell in his body became unusually active.

This way... oh no, turn right!

Yes...this is it! The signal is getting stronger and stronger!

You can't escape this time, Viktor!

PS:

Let's talk about the pacing of the book's plot.

This is chapter 53. The Piltover arc will probably end in about 20 more chapters. I originally planned to write more, but it's clear that the Piltover arc hasn't been well received, so I've decided to finish it by resolving all the foreshadowing and completing the plot (I won't retcon or leave any plot holes unfilled; the story is complete, so please rest assured).

So, for the next volume, Cola is a bit conflicted, unsure whether to start with the Demacia arc or the Ionia arc.

I'm planning to start a small poll here to decide the next volume based on everyone's wishes.
