Lin Ye immediately started searching through the other pockets, but soon found that they were empty.

"What's going on?" Lin Ye muttered, "Did I actually time-travel?"

Lin Ye was certain he had brought the python with him before leaving; the heavy feeling was unmistakable. Furthermore, besides the gun, he should have had some other items in his pockets, like tissues in his shirt pocket. But now there was nothing; all the pockets were empty. This meant that regardless of whether this was time travel or not, Lin Ye hadn't brought anything here except the clothes he was wearing.

"This is a bit strange," Lin Ye muttered to himself. "Never mind, let's find Nightingale first."

Lin Ye knew very well that whether he had entered a dream or traveled to another place, he would definitely be able to find Nightingale, because his new ability was specifically designed to work on Nightingale.

After leaving the party, Lin Ye realized that the little girl he first saw was Officer Chen from his childhood. Her hair, her eyes, her horns—all confirmed this. But people can't travel back in time, and considering Nightingale's explanation, he hadn't left her sight when he passively used his ability. That's why Lin Ye believed he might have the ability to enter other people's dreams or mental worlds.

Therefore, if his deduction is correct, then this must be the nightingale's dream.

Although there are still many details that cannot be explained, finding Nightingale is still the most important thing Lin Ye should do right now.

After entering Officer Chen's dream, Lin Ye found Officer Chen almost immediately, so it can be inferred that Nightingale should not be far away from him.

Thinking this, Lin Ye walked down the passage.

The further he went, the more certain he became that it was a tunnel. The walls became increasingly dilapidated as he went down, and behind the dilapidated walls was soil. Moreover, the entire passage had no windows, and the only light came from an oil lamp.

"Why would Liz dream of a place like this?" Lin Ye murmured.

He saw the young Officer Chen in Officer Chen's dream, so will he see the young Nightingale here? Could this be their past?

Nightingale's past... Shining didn't tell her, and Kal'tsit seemed unwilling to say more either.

However, since Nightingale suffered such psychological trauma before arriving at Rhodes Island, it suggests that her past...

Walking through the dimly lit tunnel, Lin Ye's mood gradually grew heavy.

After walking through the tunnel for about a minute, we finally emerged from the tunnel and arrived at a rather spacious area.

The area consisted of dozens of rooms separated by wooden slats. No, not rooms; to be precise, they were prison cells.

Is this the Sarkaz underground prison?

Lin Ye frowned, then walked to one of the cells and looked inside. In the dim light, the female demon, dressed in tattered clothes, had a blank expression, as if she had gone mad.

It's not a nightingale.

Lin Ye didn't know if he should breathe a sigh of relief. Although he really wanted to find Nightingale, he didn't want to find her in a place like this. Even so, he still had to continue searching, so he walked to the next cell. This time, the cell contained a male Sarkaz, but his hands and feet had been cut off, and he was struggling in the blood. Lin Ye couldn't bear to look at him, so he walked to the next cell.

They searched five or six prison cells but couldn't find Nightingale.

Lin Ye also discovered a problem.

Do the people here not see themselves?

He was almost right up to a female demon's face, but she acted as if she didn't even see him.

Is it because they've become stupid, or because they truly can't see themselves?

Lin Ye was somewhat puzzled, but his doubts were quickly resolved. Heavy, rapid footsteps echoed from the tunnel once more, and soon four male Sarkaz warriors rushed in, carrying a blood-soaked male demon on a stretcher.

They moved so fast that before Lin Ye could find a hiding place, they had already run right past him.

One of the demons bumped into him again.

But still, no one glanced in his direction.

Sure enough, they couldn't see themselves.

Lin Ye breathed a slight sigh of relief upon reaching this conclusion. After all, he didn't even have a single weapon to defend himself, and when he encountered this group of male demons... well, it seemed that even if he had a weapon, it wouldn't be of much use against these guys.

In short, we don't need to deal with them.

Lin Ye was able to watch with peace of mind as these people went about their business.

"The centurion is wounded!" Sarkaz, who was carrying the stretcher, shouted. "Quickly, get the medics over here, quick!"

Before long, a ragged, thin girl was dragged out by a burly Sarkaz warrior.

Lin Ye's eyes widened.

"Hurry up!" The Sarkaz warrior pressed the little girl down next to the centurion and roared, "Heal her quickly!"

The little girl trembled all over, her eyes filled with fear, but she still stammered, "I... I have no strength left."

The Sarkaz warrior slapped the little girl across the face.

The little girl's face immediately swelled up, and blood oozed from the corner of her mouth.

"If you can't be cured, I'll kill you!" the Sarkaz warrior roared.

The little girl didn't even dare to cry. She could only tremble as she picked up the staff and pointed it at the centurion. But even after chanting the incantation several times, her hollowed-out body still couldn't squeeze out a single bit of healing power.

"Useless!" The Sarkaz warrior kicked the little girl again, knocking her to the ground. "We've been supporting you! Fighting for you! And you can't even do something this simple! Get up now and heal the centurion! If the centurion dies, you'll all die! Get up, you piece of trash!"

The Sarkaz warrior kicked the little girl again and again. The little girl was covered in blood but could not fight back. She could only cover her head and cry.

However, the next second, something unexpected happened.

As the Sarkaz warrior raised his foot once more, a sharp wooden club thrust upwards into his anus.

Fresh blood spurted out.

"Aaaaaaahhhhh!" The Sarkaz warrior clutched his anus, collapsing to the ground and writhing in agony.

The remaining Sarkaz warriors were stunned.

The little girl instinctively raised her head and was immediately pulled into someone's arms.

"Damn it, I wouldn't dare bully her! Who the hell do you think you are?!" someone cursed.

Lin Ye held the still-young Nightingale in one arm, then pulled the bloodstained wooden stick from the back of the fallen Sarkaz and ran away.

"Who is that guy?!"

"Where did you come from?!"

"Damn it, kill him!"

By the time the remaining Sarkaz warriors realized what was happening, Lin Ye had already run into the tunnel with Nightingale in his arms.

Chapter Seventy-Eight Nightmare

The nightingale is very thin.

When Lin Ye held her in his arms, he could barely feel her weight. Moreover, she hadn't grown her waist-length golden hair yet; instead, she had short, straw-like hair that draped over her shoulders, just like the children in the refugee camps in the documentaries from his previous life.

"Who...who are you?"

Nightingale, no, Nightingale was her codename after she joined Rhodes Island. Now she is Liz, the little devil of the Sarkaz.

Doesn't she recognize herself now?

Lin Ye glanced at Nightingale and comforted her, "Don't worry, I'm here to save you, Liz."

"...Why do you know my name?"

Lin Ye didn't know how to explain to Liz, and he didn't have time to explain either, as the male demons had caught up and their footsteps echoed throughout the tunnel.

"Damn it! Kill him!"

"He must be a spy sent from over there to steal our medical personnel!"

The noise was deafening.

Liz looked at Lin Ye, her eyes filled with panic: "You're a spy!"

"How the hell do I look like a spy!" Lin Ye shouted as he ran for his life, one arm around Liz and the other gripping a bloodstained wooden stick. "Were you always this obnoxious when you were little?!"

“But you just attacked my kin…” Liz looked at the wooden stick in Lin Ye’s right hand, even more frightened. “Are you going to treat me like this too?”

"...I already told you, I'm here to rescue you!" Lin Ye said, panting. "So, how far is the exit?"

Lin Ye suspected he had taken the wrong route; the path he was on now didn't seem to be the same one he had just taken.

Liz then asked, "Will you help me take it to the other side?"

"I don't know what you mean by 'the other side,' I just want to get you out of here. Once we're out, you can go wherever you want. If you have nowhere to go, come back to Rhodes Island with me."

What kind of place is Rhodes Island?

Lin Ye almost wanted to find a rag to gag Liz; why did this girl talk so much? But when he saw Liz's thin body and scarred skin, he suppressed the thought.

"I'll tell you once we get out." Lin Ye ran a few more steps forward and found himself at a fork in the road.

The underground passage even has branching paths!? Is this some kind of tunnel warfare?!

Hearing the footsteps getting closer, Lin Ye became increasingly anxious, unsure of which way to go. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a small hole beside one of the roads. On a whim, he immediately grabbed Liz and ran over, and the two of them crawled into the hole together.

The hole was so small that Liz had to duck to get in, let alone Lin Ye, who was practically curled up like a turtle before he could squeeze in.

They had barely entered the cave for two seconds when the demons caught up with them.

Lin Ye immediately covered Liz's mouth.

"Damn it, where did that guy go?!"

"Never mind, each of us will go our own way, he can't outrun us."

After the commotion subsided, the demon's voice and footsteps gradually faded away.

Lin Ye finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Only then did he realize that Liz's beautiful blue eyes were still filled with panic.

"Don't be so afraid of me." Lin Ye smiled helplessly. "Really, how can you not recognize me?"

He lowered his hand.

Liz said in a low voice, "I really don't know you."

“You will recognize me,” Lin Ye said, “ten years from now.”

Liz's lips parted slightly, not understanding what Lin Ye was saying.

"Don't talk. Let's hide here for a while, and then figure out a way to get out of here." Lin Ye patted Liz's head.

Perhaps it was his talent that came into play again, and Liz's unease gradually disappeared.

"Are you really going to take me out?" Liz asked cautiously.

"Yes."
