Conan, I'm an actor

"Has something happened?" Conan asked somewhat seriously.
"Yes, our research institute in Tokyo was just hacked, and the data inside was stolen," Shinjo said, frowning. "The investigation shows that it was done by foreigners."
"Could it be the FBI or the CIA?"
“Impossible. I’ve already made a deal with the FBI. They wouldn’t need to resort to such extreme measures.” Shinjo suddenly laughed. “Don’t look at me like that. It’s nothing serious. The research institute hasn’t been used since it was shut down last time. It only stores some less important company data.”
"Oh."
Meanwhile, Tokyo
Inside an apartment, a young man stared at the computer screen in front of him. Countless documents scrolled past him at such a fast speed that they were impossible for the naked eye to see clearly, but the young man seemed to be able to read this information.
Beside him were several hard drives, the contents of which were all his enemies.
"I didn't expect there to be a giant server here. This data isn't very valuable." The young man looked up and stretched. "Now that you know I'm here, what will you do, Cognac?"
Just then, his eyes looked out the window, and the next second, his pupils contracted sharply. Almost instantly, he stood up and hid in the nearest toilet.
As the sound of shattering glass rang out, a drone crashed into his apartment, and flames engulfed the entire interior.
Chapter 312
The violent explosion rendered the young man unconscious. The wall was not load-bearing, and the bomb blew it down, burying him inside.
Before he lost consciousness, his only thought was—how did they find this place?
Half an hour later, Karen found Shinjo, who was returning to Tokyo.
"I launched an attack on a suspected Rum target using a suicide drone, located in Tokyo." Karen's voice was calm, but her words were terrifying.
"Could you please not use such cruel methods? The explosion was very loud," Shinjo said helplessly. "The cleanup afterwards will probably be very troublesome."
"If we can take care of that guy, it will all be worth it," Karen said with a hint of helplessness. "I don't know what kind of luck that guy had, surviving a bomb."
"Not dead?" Shinjo immediately perked up. "Do you know which hospital he's in?"
In this kind of sudden attack, death is quite normal; if he doesn't die, then there's something wrong. If this guy really is Rum, Shinjo says he wouldn't mind sending him on his way.
Just then, an unfamiliar number came in.
"Hello, who is this?" Xincheng asked, frowning. Few people knew this number. He recognized the other numbers, but that one just now...
"That's impressive. Rum just arrived in Japan and got bombed. He'll probably be quiet for a few months." A familiar voice came from the other end of the line.
“Vodka? How did you get my number?” Shinjo’s eyes narrowed. “Was this call your own doing, or was it Gin’s idea?”
“The boss doesn’t know what’s going on here yet. Making this call to you is my personal decision and has nothing to do with the boss. Although you’re a traitor, we can still cooperate on dealing with Rum.” Vodka snorted. “As for the number, I have my own connections.”
"Is this some kind of show of force?" Shinjo said with a laugh. "Japan, how many people do you still have left?"
Vodka seemed to realize he had said the wrong thing and immediately shut up.
"May I assume this is the collaboration you proposed?" Shinjo said with a smile. "But before we cooperate, would you mind revealing your motives? I know Gin quite well. If he wants to deal with someone, he usually does it himself. If it weren't for that personality, he wouldn't have gathered a bunch of useless people around him, would he?"
Vodka was speechless, unable to catch his breath after hearing what Shinjo said. What kind of talk was that! He wanted to refute it, but after thinking about it carefully, it seemed that Shinjo's words were impossible to refute.
A driver who can only drive, along with two snipers who can't kill anyone, seems to be all the forces Gin can currently mobilize.
“Rum, he doesn’t deserve it,” Vodka said bluntly.
"Rum taking over the Japanese branch was a decision made by the organization." Shinjo rested his chin on one hand. "Do you think you're unworthy just because you say so? Or are you, Vodka, already prepared to betray the organization?"
"All I need to do is not betray my elder brother. No one is allowed to covet what belongs to my elder brother."
"But now the Japanese branch is in my hands."
“That’s what your older brother asked you to keep for him,” Vodka said coldly. “He’ll get it back sooner or later.”
"Are you worried that once it's in Rum's hands, you won't be able to get it back?" Shinjo sneered. "Do you think you can easily and legitimately take it back from me, a traitor?"
“That’s right.” Vodka coughed. “I know you have a very skilled hacker or a very powerful intelligence organization by your side. I won’t play any tricks on you.”
“This time you’re not playing dirty tricks, you’re playing openly, that’s smarter.” Xincheng rubbed his temples with his fingers. “But have you considered this one thing?”
"what?"
“Gin may not know about today’s phone call, or about every phone call to come.” Shinjo paused. “But he will know that there is a mole in his life, a mole who is working with me. You should know his attitude towards moles, so don’t do anything to make things difficult for him.”
After saying that, he hung up the phone. Knowing who Rum was was enough; at most, he could make that guy disappear from the world within a week.
Hospital bed
Rum lay on the hospital bed, eyes closed, pondering a solution.
He woke up shortly after the explosion, but by then he had lost the ability to move. Moreover, the police outside were investigating his identity, and it wouldn't be long before they discovered that his identity was problematic.
If those guys who attacked me were to stab me in the back, I wouldn't even have the chance to pretend to faint in the hospital.
What's bothering him most right now is how he was discovered.
From the day he prepared to enter Japan, he began to make preparations. He had sent out almost all of his previous doubles. Except for Antarctica, his "figures" appeared in every other continent. Those intelligence organizations should be completely fooled by these illusions.
It must be the people who infiltrated the research institute who caused the problem, but the informant was four or five people away from me, and he didn't even know me. So how did they track me down?
Just then, the door was opened.
“This is the victim of the bombing.” Officer Takagi walked in from outside. “We investigated this guy’s identity and found that he had no entry or exit records, so he was very likely an illegal immigrant.”
"Are you sure?" Inspector Megure frowned. "I've investigated this apartment. The information shows it was bought by a foreigner, and that guy's information..."
Just then, someone rudely interrupted Inspector Megure.
“I think we don’t need to investigate anymore. We’ll handle the rest.” Kazama held up his notebook. “Inspector Megure, what happens next…”
"I'm sorry, but I can't let you take over this time." Inspector Megure put his hand on his hat and said seriously, "I have to find out who is causing trouble in Tokyo. I've been transferring cases to the Public Security Bureau before, but the security situation in Tokyo hasn't improved since the Public Security Bureau took over. Now there are even bombings."
"Regarding this, I think I can explain..." Kazama's expression was somewhat embarrassed.
“No need for explanation. If we absolutely must transfer the case,” Inspector Megure said sternly, “our Metropolitan Police Department is assisting in the investigation, so at the very least, we should have the right to know.”
Just then, Shiratori walked in from outside. "Inspector Megure, these are the results of this investigation."
"Thank you for your hard work, Inspector Shiratori." Inspector Megure nodded.
Upon hearing the word "superintendent," Kazama frowned, realizing that today's events were unlikely to end well.
He had forgotten that the Metropolitan Police Department had compensated the "victims" of the previous transfer incident. Now, the First Investigation Division has two superintendents, several inspectors, and one superintendent. If these people were to unite and confront the Public Security Bureau, the Public Security Bureau would have a real headache.
"I need to consult my superiors on this," Kazama said with a hint of helplessness.
"Then you should ask for permission before coming over," Inspector Megure said, staring at Kazama.
Kazama shrugged. Having failed to receive the mission, he didn't linger and left immediately.
Watching Kazama leave, Shiratori's expression turned grim. "Inspector Megure, are you sure you want to leave this guy here? The police are here; that proves he's dangerous enough."
"And then?" Megure stared at the young man on the bed and said, "Brother Takagi, prepare a few more restraints, and then call a few workers to install iron bars on the windows of this room."
“This…” Takagi was taken aback. “He’s not a criminal yet.”
“Now that we’ve got the person in our hands, we need to keep a close eye on them,” Inspector Megure said, knocking on the wooden door of the ward. “Also, this wooden door needs to be replaced with an iron one.”
"Isn't this a bit too cautious?" Takagi said, frowning. "And what about the hospital..."
“I’ll handle things with the hospital,” Shiratori said seriously. “Our family has some connections with the hospital’s shareholders, so this little matter will be very easy for us.”
Takagi opened his mouth, wondering if this was the world of the rich.
“Well, I’ll handle this. Don’t drag the Shiratori family into this. You and that Ayanokouji from Kyoto have already faced a lot of criticism because of your family background.” Inspector Megure shook his head. “Using personal connections will only give others something to talk about.”
“I used to care about these things, but now I don’t,” Shiratori said very seriously. “After all, family background is also a part of strength. Let them say what they want; it won’t hurt them anyway.”
Overhearing the officers' conversation, Rum cursed Gin in his heart hundreds of times. "Look what you've done to the Tokyo police! How is he going to escape if this continues?"
Takagi was very efficient; he completed the task Inspector Megure had assigned him in just two hours. The iron gate was a complicated matter; it usually needed to be custom-made, and obviously they couldn't wait that long, so they opted for a quicker method: moving one from the prison.
After everyone left, Rum on the bed opened his eyes, observed for a moment, and then chose to lie back down and pretend to be unconscious.
He couldn't escape on his own; all he could do now was wait for rescue. The only good news was that he could feign unconsciousness; rescuing a target in a hospital was easier than in a detention center.
What he didn't know was that someone was already watching him from afar.
"That's strange, why didn't Kazama take the case?" Shinjo asked, somewhat exasperated. "Do you know why?"
“I think there might have been obstacles when transferring the case,” Karen quickly gave her answer. “The Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division has a lot of resentment towards the Public Security Planning Division, especially Kazama. After the last transfer incident, Megure and Shiratori were both promoted to superintendents. With both superintendents expressing their opposition, Kazama couldn’t force the transfer of the case.”
"Is this their personal choice, or is someone manipulating things behind the scenes?" Shinjo turned his gaze to the rocket launcher beside him.
He was all prepared. Once the case was handed over to the police, he would send a rocket-propelled grenade to take away the guy who looked like Rum.
Who knows what got into Megure, he actually left the case to the First Investigation Division. Now that Rum has been killed, the blame will definitely fall on Megure. He might lose his hard-earned position as Superintendent, and he might not even be able to keep his Inspector title.
“Actually, you should have opened fire the moment Kazama appeared,” Karen said with a hint of displeasure. “If there’s a problem with the handover, the two sides will get bogged down in wrangling. With a little maneuvering, Inspector Megure will at most get a reprimand.”
"Can't we think of a way to silence that guy?" Shinjo said, frowning. "It's best if we don't involve the First Investigation Division."
“Kazama has already applied for a joint investigation. If the application is approved…” Karen paused, “There’s a phone call coming in from Shizuoka. It sounds like it’s that Yokomizo officer.”
"Officer Yokomizo?" Shinjo was taken aback. "Bring him in."
"Is this Mr. Shinjo? We have a few questions for you," Officer Yokomizo said seriously. "Village Chief Murakuma has now awakened, and he told us that you were the first to discover the treasure."
"If he's referring to that gold, I think it must be me." Xincheng said with a slight smile. "What's wrong?"
"We just had experts appraise them, and those gold coins are all modern artifacts with no historical value."
"fake?"
“It can’t be called fake, the gold is real, but it’s not an antique,” Officer Yokomizo said with a headache. “Including the iron urn you found, that’s a fake too.”
"I thought I was lucky enough to have discovered Tokugawa Ieyasu's treasure," Shinjo said with a hint of helplessness. "Looks like I was overthinking it."
"According to the village chief's description, you were the first to find the gold. May I ask where you found it?"
"The section of the stream near Black Gold Pool, I suppose." Xincheng paused for a moment. "Didn't the village chief and the others find it too?"
"Um, we're just checking the situation."
"Um, Ms. Masuko, she..."
“She should be detained for a while to cooperate with the investigation,” Officer Yokomizo said with a smile. “Don’t worry, the police won’t make things difficult for a kind-hearted person like her.”
“Okay, if she needs legal aid, she can let me know. I know quite a few lawyers,” Shinjo said seriously.
"You're worried we'll make things difficult for her, huh? Don't worry, we won't," Yokomizo laughed heartily. "The case has been investigated and cleared up. At most, she'll be able to go home and reunite with her family in a few days."
