"Mr. Dumbledore," York turned his head abruptly and asked abruptly while Victor was pouring tea, "Is magic dangerous?"
"Hogwarts shouldn't have any regional or identity discrimination, right?"
“Witt was quite mature from a young age and couldn’t get along with many of his peers, often being isolated at school.”
"He thought I wouldn't know if he didn't mention the old man."
York let out a deep breath and said in a low voice, "I read in the admission letter that Hogwarts is a boarding school, and students only come back once every six months..."
The old man's silence and calmness met Dumbledore's gentle gaze.
“Nowhere is absolutely perfect,” Dumbledore said gently and politely. “I can assure you that there is no safer place in the wizarding world than Hogwarts.”
“If we don’t go,” York said in a low voice, as if afraid that Witt would hear.
“Mr. Witt possesses exceptional magical talent,” Dumbledore said solemnly, “far surpassing most wizards I have ever met.”
Praising Witt means hoping that Yorke won't waste Witt's talent.
Most parents hope their children will excel.
Praising someone's child is more effective than giving advice.
"Okay, you've convinced me."
York lowered his head and ate his meal slowly. He knew all the strange things Victor was doing. The reason he was so stubborn was purely out of concern for magic and his reluctance to part with Victor.
"You make it sound like I'm going to the battlefield to die." Witt said speechlessly, picking up a piece of meat and putting it in his mouth. "I'm just going to school. I think you're just worried that no one will cook for you in the future."
"Why don't you just go for Aunt Mei next door? She's so old and still so shy and hesitant, not decisive at all."
"Eat your food."
York looked up angrily, his sadness instantly vanishing.
"Fine, I'll eat."
Witt spoke in the harshest tone, but with the most cowardly words, and politely picked up some food and put it in Dumbledore's bowl: "Please eat more, especially this pumpkin. It's the best quality pumpkin the farm grew this year, and it's very sweet."
"You absolutely must try it."
Dumbledore scooped up a piece with a spoon and put it in his mouth.
It was fragrant, soft, and glutinous, with a rich pumpkin flavor and distinct main and secondary tastes, which made him subconsciously take an extra bite.
“I think you would be a perfect fit for Hufflepuff.”
Dumbledore expressed high praise for Witte's culinary skills.
"So, will I be assigned to Hufflepuff?"
Witt quite likes Hufflepuff; it's close to the kitchen, so he'll never have to worry about not having food.
You'll find out at the Sorting Ceremony.
Dumbledore winked mischievously at Witte, then scooped up another piece of pumpkin, deciding that when he got back, he would tell the house-elves how to make this dish.
The dining table at Hogwarts definitely needs a change.
"alright."
Witt really couldn't understand why there was anything to hide about something as simple as the Sorting Ceremony.
They successfully kept it a secret for over a thousand years.
The wizard's perverse sense of humor is incredibly boring.
After dinner, Dumbledore reached into his pocket, pulled out a book, handed it to Victor, and said with a smile, "Thank you for inviting me to this very pleasant dinner."
"I left in a hurry today and didn't bring much with me, so consider this copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard as my return gift."
"It contains many interesting and meaningful stories that can help you learn more about the magical world."
After seeing Dumbledore off, Witt turned around and asked in a low voice, "Old man, what did Dumbledore talk to you about that made you so happy?"
"This is none of your business."
York touched the Tooth-Strengthening Potion on his chest and began to think about whether he should buy some candy to eat tomorrow.
Magic is truly amazing, much more reliable than those dentists.
"If it's unrelated, then it's unrelated."
Since his grandfather wouldn't tell him, Witt didn't press the matter further.
"When are you going to accompany me to Diagon Alley? This must be something that concerns me, right?"
"Tomorrow, I'll go with you tomorrow."
Chapter 5 The Serpent Demon and the Sorcerer's Stone
Break the Cauldron Bar.
York, who had been brought in by Witt, curiously looked around at the bar's decor.
"There really is a bar here. I almost thought you were kidding me."
With his car parked outside, York couldn't see the Leaky Cauldron at all; in his eyes, the bookstore was just past the record store, with walls in between.
Unexpectedly, after being led a few steps by Vitra and squeezed through the wall between the two store entrances, there really was a bar inside.
"This place has a really great vibe, I love it."
The Leaky Cauldron's dimly lit and simple environment unexpectedly suited York's taste, and he pulled Witt to the bar, ready to try what the wizarding world's liquor tasted like.
After much deliberation, York finally opted for the croquet spirit recommended by bar owner Tom.
According to the bar owner, this drink will involuntarily remind people of happy and joyful times, causing them to giggle.
It was named after this.
It is a very popular type of alcohol in the wizarding world.
"A chug of spirits," York added after ordering. "Do you have any drinks that are safe for minors?"
"If this is your first time here, I recommend Butterbeer—don't look at me like that, sir. I can assure you that although Butterbeer has 'alcohol' in its name, it has no alcohol content. I wouldn't dare violate the laws of the Ministry of Magic."
"By the way, we don't accept Muggle coins, but we can allow you to buy on credit temporarily. You can pay later after you exchange your coins at Gringotts."
"The Ministry of Magic?" York was intrigued and struck up a conversation with the bar owner while he was mixing drinks.
Victor could only look around at the people appearing in the bar with boredom.
Most wizards are old-fashioned and conservative; their aesthetic sense is basically stuck in the era before last.
The most common outfit is the classic combination of a pointed round hat and a wizard's robe.
Wealthier wizards would wear formal attire, the kind of clothes that are difficult to wear and even harder to wash.
Some wizards, who were not good at taking care of themselves, wore dirty, dusty clothes that looked as old as the Leaky Cauldron.
Soon Witt got his butterbeer and sat down at an empty table with Grandpa York.
I took a small bite, and it was sweet, filling my mouth with the rich, buttery flavor that seemed to waft right out of my nose.
After tasting it carefully, you can still taste the aroma of malt.
Even Victor's upper lip was covered with a layer of white beard from the foam of butterbeer.
Delicious.
"Hiss~ (That guy over there gives me a really familiar feeling.)"
The Serpent Demon looked up at a guy wearing a headscarf, with a somewhat timid face and an occasional fawning smile.
Witt glanced up at him briefly before turning away again, whispering a warning: "Shut up. You'd better stay away from him. He's not someone we can handle right now."
The most dangerous time at Hogwarts, besides the seventh year, is this first year.
For Witt, this year is the most dangerous year yet.
The source of the danger was, of course, Quirrell, who wore a headscarf and looked weak and easy to bully.
Witt lowered his head and pretended to drink his butterbeer, his face looking rather grim; he certainly didn't want Voldemort to notice him.
York, on the other hand, was flushed and looked happy and excited after drinking the strong liquor.
He urged Victor to finish his drink quickly and led him toward Diagon Alley.
Quirrell didn't even glance in his direction until Victor left.
At this stage, Voldemort's corruption of Quirrell is not deep enough, and Quirrell is still in control of this body. If Voldemort were to become more powerful later, he might be able to detect the abnormality of Serpent King, but Quirrell clearly does not have that ability now.
Witte's worries were completely unnecessary.
At the small courtyard behind the Broken Cauldron Bar.
"Count three squares directly above the trash can, then two squares horizontally, and knock three times."
Upon receiving the signal, the wall surged like a tide, revealing a winding, endless cobblestone street before them.
"It's done."
York, like a mischievous old man, puffed out his chest triumphantly.
"Yes, yes, Grandpa, you're amazing."
Witt praised the other man at the right time, which made York very happy.
"Come on, Grandpa will take you to exchange money."
Gringotts.
York looked up at the crooked pillar, then peered inside and saw the strange-looking goblins with sharp teeth and claws.
"This is a wizard's bank, but it looks more like a robbers' den to me."
"Are you sure this is the place?" York's hand unconsciously reached for the revolver at his waist.
“Didn’t someone go in ahead of us? Judging from their attire, they’re dressed the same as us; they’re all Muggles, as wizards call them.”
Witt pointed to a couple with a child ahead and said, "Let's follow them and see what happens."
Gringotts has two main entrances: an outer bronze door and an inner silver door.
At the entrances of both gates stood fairies dressed in scarlet and gold gowns, who would bow to each guest who entered.
