Hogwarts: Me? Fight Voldemort?
Page 66
How did these two completely unrelated things come together? Has Professor Sprout gotten senile?
Professor Sprout smiled and opened the door to the third greenhouse. "Alright, let's go to the third greenhouse today."
“Harry! I’ve been wanting to talk to you.” Lockhart caught Harry in the crowd as he tried to hide himself. “Professor Sprout, you won’t mind if he’s a few minutes late, will you?”
“Of course, but don’t take too long,” Professor Sprout said generously.
Jimmy didn't know what Lockhart and Harry said; he only knew that Lockhart was strange.
He wondered how Lockhart, who could use healing charms to the point of being able to vanish, managed to heal the Whomping Willow. Could it be that he made the Whomping Willow forget that it was injured?
During class, Justin Finley of Hufflepuff came up to Jimmy and the others and excitedly grabbed their hands and shook them.
“My name is Justin Finley, of course I know you, the famous Harry Potter, you are Hermione Granger—the eternal number one… Jimmy, 333 Diagon Alley! Hahaha!”
"Huh?" Jimmy was stunned. Although it was his own advertisement, being copied in front of him made him feel so unfamiliar and ashamed that he saw stars.
Justin Finley struck a pose as if tossing cards while lifting his jacket, laughing excitedly, "I've seen your report, it's so cool! 333 Diagon Alley!"
Jimmy rolled his eyes at him. "Thank you so much!"
He's preoccupied with Lockhart right now and has no time for jokes.
Chapter 113 Taking Photos
Justin Finley wasn't going to let Jimmy off so easily; he was so talkative it was annoying, and he kept talking about Lockhart while he was mixing dragon dung into the flowerpots.
"That Lockhart guy, what's his name? He's really brave. Have you guys read his books? If I were cornered in a phone booth by a werewolf, I would have been scared to death, but he was so calm. Tsk tsk, he's really amazing."
“I saw it too! Lockhart used a clever Restoration Charm to turn the werewolf back into a wizard!” Hermione had little resistance to this topic. “But I can’t find that Restoration Charm.”
Putting Lockhart himself aside, the plot of the book is indeed very captivating.
It's unbelievable that Justin Finley is a fan of Lockhart; very few boys are fans of Lockhart.
"Perhaps it's a spell that only Lockhart can use. Even Professor Sprout couldn't handle the Whomping Willow, but Lockhart cured it, didn't he?"
The topic of Lockhart spread like wildfire, and eventually, Jimmy was surrounded by discussions about Lockhart.
"He's just showing off and flaunting himself all along. Doesn't anyone notice? How can so many people like Lockhart?"
Harry nodded in agreement, recalling Lockhart's words before class, and his expression turned sour. "I can't really describe what kind of person he is. He just said I wanted to show off, but I don't actually want to."
"I really don't understand why so many people like him," Ron said, turning over the soil.
Neville, who was standing to the side, didn't say anything.
They were like a group from another world, hiding in a corner playing with dragon dung.
After class, the crowd headed towards the castle.
Hermione and Jimmy went together and she asked him, "Lockhart...didn't he say he could only use the Oblivion Charm?"
"I don't know..." Jimmy thought about it for the entire class but still couldn't figure it out. He could only say, "But the next class is Defense Against the Dark Arts. By then, we should be able to see Lockhart's true nature as a good-for-nothing! No, we definitely will!"
After class, the young Gryffindor wizards rushed to the Transfiguration classroom, which was right after Herbology class.
Once everyone was present, Professor McGonagall stood up from behind her desk. "Today we're going to turn a beetle into a button. If you've studied hard over the summer, I don't think it will be difficult."
The young wizards all wore long faces; who would study Transfiguration during summer vacation?
Jimmy absentmindedly poked the beetle with his wand, and it quickly turned into a button, but several legs still stuck out from the edge of the button.
Professor McGonagall, who was passing by, saw this and said with some disappointment, "Pay attention, Blaine."
Jimmy is very talented in other subjects, but his talent in Transfiguration is not as outstanding as his talent in Spellcasting. She hopes to see an all-around genius.
As Gryffindors, shouldn't they put in a little more effort in their Headmaster's classes?
After receiving the warning, Jimmy looked closely at the table and saw that the button he had conjured had grown legs and was trying to crawl around on the table.
He quickly banished Lockhart's thoughts, restored the button to a beetle, and cast the spell again. This time, the beetle transformed into a delicate, milky-white button with numerous patterns on it.
This didn't make Professor McGonagall happy, as it meant Jimmy had been distracted and hadn't improved the beetle. However, she still gave Jimmy an extra 5 points.
In the mornings, there are only Herbalism and Transfiguration classes, while in the afternoons, most students eagerly anticipate Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
The second-year Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs were fortunate enough to be among the first to take Gilderoy Lockhart's Defense Against the Dark Arts class, much to the excitement of countless young witches.
Jimmy couldn't figure out how Lockhart's abilities had increased after two lessons, so he simply stopped thinking about it, since it had nothing to do with him anyway.
There's no way there could be any crisis in the second year. He's already handed the notebook over to Old Deng. The basilisk in the secret room can't possibly come out and cause trouble without orders, can it?
Upon arriving at the Great Hall, Jimmy waited for dinner to begin. Next to Hermione's book was her class schedule, which he craned his neck to take a look at.
The schedule was clean, and Defense Against the Dark Arts class wasn't circled with a heart, which made Jimmy feel much more relaxed.
Lunch was served, and Jimmy continued to be a glutton, showing off his meat and tearing food into pieces.
Halfway through the meal, Harry, sitting across from him, whispered, "I feel like there's a weird person among the freshmen who keeps watching me."
Ron glanced over and indeed saw a freshman looking at Harry. "Harry, you know, Ginny is your fan."
“No, I wasn’t talking about Ginny.” Harry was speechless. “I was talking about that skinny little boy with gray hair.”
Jimmy dismissed it, saying, "He's your fan too."
"Yeah……"
After the meal, the group went to the courtyard to rest, away from Lockhart, who was always interacting with fans in the auditorium.
When they arrived at the courtyard, the gray-haired boy who had been staring at Harry during lunch also came along. He rushed up to Harry, raised his hand, and snapped a picture. The white light from the camera in his hand, which was bigger than his head, dimmed the surrounding light.
After the photo was taken, the skinny boy excitedly exclaimed, "Hi Harry! I—my name is Colin Crevey!"
The boy told Harry a lot about Harry's exploits and even got Harry to sign a photo at the end.
Draco, who was looking for Jimmy, overheard this and immediately yelled in a shrill voice, "Autographed photos? You're giving out autographed photos, Pott?"
Draco, as if he had discovered something amusing, shouted to the crowd not far away, "Everyone, line up quickly! Harry Potter is going to give out autographed photos!"
"Malfoy!" Harry couldn't be stopped by anyone and rushed forward to strike repeatedly. Draco immediately followed behind, circling around Jimmy and Hermione, making Harry run around in circles.
That was fine, until a person dressed entirely in green appeared.
"What's going on? What's going on?" Lockhart strode towards them, his turquoise robes billowing behind him as he walked. "Who wants autographed photos? Harry, or Jimmy? I know! It'll be both of you together!"
Jimmy hadn't expected Lockhart to drag him into this, and before he knew it, Lockhart had put his arm around his shoulder and pulled him close to Harry.
“Come on, Mr. Crevet, a photo of the three of you would be perfect!” Lockhart flashed his smug smile again, putting his arms around Harry and Jimmy on either side.
Colin Crevy indeed obeyed Lockhart's words and raised the camera. Jimmy, whose scalp tingled at the sight of the camera, immediately drew his wand and tapped the ground, casting two instantaneous spells.
The cutting spell cut a section of grass off the ground, and the transformation spell turned the grass clippings into a huge stone slab, completely blocking the camera.
He thought everything was foolproof, but the stone slab vanished in an instant, and the flash of the camera slapped Jimmy across the face like a slap.
Chapter 114 The Quiz on Defense Against the Dark Arts
Colin Crevy's camera wasn't an instant camera; he had to go back to his dorm to develop the photos. But if he used the correct developing solution, the photos could move.
He was very satisfied with the photo, and Lockhart was also very satisfied.
After calming down a bit, Jimmy said to Colin Creevey as calmly as possible, "You didn't get my permission. I don't want my photos to be circulated. You can take a separate photo of Harry and Lockhart and then destroy this one."
"I don't want to have my picture taken either," Harry said weakly.
Lockhart strode forward and stood in front of Colin Crevy, asking him for the roll of film. "Give me that roll of film. I'll develop the photos. They're just a little shy."
"Shy?" Jimmy tightened his grip on the wand.
Harry's face was also flushed with anger.
Colin Crevy, as if he had found his pillar of support, immediately took out the completed paper and handed it to Lockhart, his face showing an expression that begged for praise.
Lockhart, having received his paper, put it in his pocket, turned around, and earnestly advised him like an old father, "Very good, Jimmy. I used to be troubled by fame like you, and always wanted to disappear for a while. After all, as a public figure, you always have to maintain a perfect image."
But you're being too extreme. You should learn to adapt to this fame; it can feel like a burden, but you must always remain humble.
I'll handle this for you. And Harry, I don't think you're famous enough to give out autographed photos yet.
He moved closer to Harry, who recoiled in disgust.
"I'll take pictures with you so you won't seem arrogant..."
After speaking, Lockhart turned around, his cloak leaving a trail of afterimages, and left gracefully.
Jimmy and Harry were so angry that their noses were crooked.
Jimmy really wanted to teach Lockhart a lesson, but he wasn't sure of Lockhart's abilities.
He turned around, and the stone slab that had just appeared was teleported behind him.
How did Lockhart manage to conjure his stone tablet behind him? He didn't seem to have heard of such magic before. Could it be a summoning spell?
The more confused one is, the weaker the anger becomes.
"Jimmy, are you alright?" Hermione asked as she came forward.
Jimmy casually turned the stone slab back into grass clippings, and hesitantly replied, "I'm fine..."
He noticed Hermione's conflicted expression and asked, "What's wrong?"
"No, it's nothing. Class is about to start, let's go to class."
Quirrell's classroom reeked of garlic, while Lockhart's classroom had been converted into an empty room on the left side of the third floor. The classroom was filled with portraits of Lockhart.
Lockhart is painting, Lockhart is promoting his new book, Lockhart is cleaning up household pests... The portraits all have the same smile, constantly winking at the students in the classroom.
The Hufflepuff students were already waiting in the classroom. The girls had taken up all the front seats, but Susan Burns of Hufflepuff reserved a middle seat in the first row for Hermione.
Jimmy didn't sit with Hermione, but instead sat with Neville in the last row.
The school bell rang, and Gilderoy Lockhart pushed open the door and entered. He had changed into a violet robe again and was carrying a cage wrapped in red cloth.
Lockhart placed the cage on the podium, then turned around, revealing the same smile as the portrait hanging on the wall, and picked up a copy of "Walking with Trolls" from the desk of a girl in the front row.
“Me!” He pointed to his photo and winked at the people in the classroom. “Giddro Lockhart, a third-class Sergeant of the Order of Merlin—I know one of you is a first-class Sergeant of the Order of Merlin.”
But I no longer pursue the honor of the Order of Merlin; now my goal is to nurture the next generation, just as I continue to write books about my experiences, hoping that more wizards can learn true knowledge from my adventures.
The girls stared at Gilderoy Lockhart with infatuated expressions, while the boys looked at Jimmy.
"At the same time, I am also an honorary member of the Defense Against the Dark Arts and have won the Wizarding Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award five times—but I don't want you to focus too much on my honors. I don't exorcise the ghost of Wanren with my smile."
