There was no room for refusal.
They left the arena and passed through another hidden passageway into an area that resembled a laboratory. The temperature was low, and the smell of formaldehyde and blood was strong.
The room contained dozens of cylindrical glass jars filled with various biological specimens. There were complete hybrid carcasses, separated organs, and even embryos at different stages of development.
A researcher in a white lab coat approached and said, "Mr. Tanaka, your order is ready."
He led the group into the inner room. The jars there were even larger, and inside were not corpses, but living beings.
Frillie saw three girls, each sealed in an individual life support pod, immersed in a pale blue nutrient solution. Their eyes were closed, their bodies connected to various tubes, their chests rising and falling slightly—they were still alive.
"These are all high-purity mixed-race individuals collected from all over the world, with a bloodline ranging from C+ to B-," the researcher explained. "After drug treatment, they are in a deep coma, but their vital signs are stable. They are very suitable as living samples for long-term research."
Tanaka leaned closer to examine it, as if he were selecting merchandise.
"This blond one is quite good. His Word of Power is 'Eagle Eye,' giving him eyesight twenty times that of an ordinary person. I've been researching the enhancement mechanisms of the visual nerve."
"This dark-skinned creature is from Africa, with a 12% degree of dragonification and skin hardness approaching that of an alloy. Her skeletal sample is very valuable."
“And this one,” he said, walking to the third life support pod. Inside was an Asian girl who looked only fourteen or fifteen years old, with delicate features and a beauty mark at the corner of her eye. “This one is the most special. Her bloodline is only D-grade, but her genetic sequence contains a rare stabilizing factor, making her perfect maternal material. I plan to use her for cloning experiments.”
Frillie recognized the girl.
She had seen it in the medical records at Morishita Clinic; it was a mixed-race girl who had gone missing three years ago. Her parents were both alumni of Kassel College and had been searching for their daughter.
So that's where she was.
“I want this one,” Tanaka said, pointing to the Asian girl. “Leave the other two as well, I’ll come back for them next time.”
“Yes, Mr. Tanaka,” the researcher nodded. “Do we need to perform pretreatment now? For example, extracting bone marrow or cerebrospinal fluid?”
“No, I want it intact,” Tanaka licked his lips. “I want to handle it myself.”
Chapter 519 Fallen Humanity - Frillian (Part 2)
The transaction was completed, and Tanaka paid a huge sum of money in the form of bearer bonds and cryptocurrency.
As she left the lab, Frillie glanced back at the life support pod. The girl lay asleep, oblivious to her impending fate.
It was 2 a.m. when they returned to the ground. The party at the Elysium was still going on, but Tanaka was already drunk and asked Frilian to take him back to his room.
"Miss Qianyu, please stay with me tonight," he said, his arm around Frillie's shoulder, reeking of alcohol. "I'll give you money, lots of money."
Frillie resisted the urge to push him away and said meekly, "Mr. Tanaka, you're drunk. Let me take you back to your room to rest."
"I'm not drunk!" Tanaka shouted, but his steps faltered.
Frilian helped him toward the VIP guest room area. Along the way, they passed a courtyard where moonlight shone on cherry blossom trees, petals falling, a scene of unreal beauty.
Tanaka's room was one of the most luxurious suites in Gokurakukan. After entering, he pushed Frilian away and slumped onto the sofa.
"Wine, bring more wine!"
Frillie went to the liquor cabinet, took out a bottle of whiskey, poured a glass, and handed it to him.
Tanaka downed the drink in one gulp, then stared at Frillie, his gaze gradually turning dangerous.
“Qianyu, you look just like my daughter,” he murmured. “She’s sixteen this year and is studying in Switzerland. But she never contacts me; she thinks I’m a dirty businessman.”
Tanaka stood up and staggered toward Frillie.
"But do you know what? Without my filth, how could she live such a good life? The school she attends costs 30 million yen a year, and the apartment she lives in costs 2 million yen a month. Where does all that money come from? It all comes from these businesses!"
Tanaka grabbed Frillie's arm.
"You women will never understand the hardships men endure. We bear the weight of our entire families, our entire companies, and the entire society. What's wrong with taking a break every now and then?"
Frilian didn't struggle; she just looked at him calmly.
"Mr. Tanaka, you must be tired. You should rest."
“Rest? No.” Tanaka laughed, a twisted smile. “I bought that girl, and now I need to inspect her. Chiyu, you know medicine, come help me. I want to see how a hybrid’s body differs from a normal person’s.”
He pulled Frilian toward the bedroom.
In the bedroom, the Asian girl had been brought in and was lying unconscious on the bed. She had been dressed in a white kimono, like a sacrificial offering awaiting slaughter.
Tanaka began to unbuckle his belt.
"Let's start with something simple. How about a blood test? Qianyu, the tools are over there."
Frillie looked at the bedside table, where a medical kit was placed, containing various blood collection and surgical instruments.
She walked over and opened the box.
Besides the standard equipment, there were some unusual items inside: an electric shock device, restraint straps, and several bottles of drugs labeled "stimulant" and "pain enhancer."
"Let's start with 200cc," Tanaka said, taking off his shirt to reveal his obese body. "Then we'll try this—"
He picked up the stun gun, pressed the switch, and blue sparks crackled. "I've heard that hybrids have a high pain tolerance. I wonder, with this added, how long can she hold out before collapsing?"
Frillie picked up a lancet and walked to the bedside. She looked at the unconscious girl, then at Tanaka, whose face was full of excitement.
Magical perception was activated. There were no security cameras in the room; the privacy of the VIP room was absolute. There were two bodyguards outside the door, but they were at a sufficient distance.
There is a chance.
“Mr. Tanaka,” Frillian said softly, “do you know the difference between the blood of a hybrid and that of a normal person?”
What's the difference?
“The blood of hybrids contains trace amounts of dragon gene fragments,” Frilian said, removing the cap from the lancet. “These gene fragments produce interesting reactions when they come into contact with certain substances.”
"What substance?"
“For example, alcohol,” Frillie said, “especially high concentrations of alcohol.”
Before Tanaka could react, Frillie had already moved.
Instead of drawing blood, a lancet was inserted into the field's carotid artery, avoiding a fatal spot, but enough to cause him to bleed rapidly.
"You!" Tanaka's eyes widened, as if he wanted to shout.
But Frilian covered his mouth with her other hand. At the same time, she used magic to create a false image inside Tanaka's body, simulating the symptoms of alcohol poisoning: rapid heartbeat, soaring blood pressure, and cerebral vasospasm.
"Ugh, ugh," Tanaka struggled, but the combined effects of blood loss and magic caused his strength to rapidly diminish.
Frillie whispered in his ear, “You’ve had too much to drink, Mr. Tanaka. Alcohol poisoning leading to brain hemorrhage is a very common cause of death.”
She let go, and Tanaka collapsed to the ground, his eyes wide open, white foam beginning to ooze from the corner of his mouth.
Frillie quickly cleaned up the scene, throwing the lancet into the trash can and placing the whiskey bottle next to Tanaka to fake the scene of him collapsing drunk.
Then she went to the bedside to check on the girl. Her vital signs were stable, but she had been given a large dose of sedatives and would not wake up for a while.
Frillie took an antidote from the medical kit and injected it into the girl. Then she picked her up and hid her in the closet of the room, which was big enough and had a ventilator.
"Just take a nap," she whispered to the unconscious girl. "When you wake up, it will all be over."
Next were the bodyguards outside the door.
Frillie straightened her kimono and opened the door.
Two bodyguards stood on either side of the corridor. When she came out, one of them asked, "Where is Mr. Tanaka?"
"She's drunk and resting," Frillie said, head down. "Let me get her some hangover medicine."
This was a reasonable request, and the bodyguard nodded and let them pass.
Frilian headed toward the maids' quarters, but at the corner, she turned in another direction, leading to the back door of the courtyard.
She needed Tanaka to die "reasonably." There was a two-meter-deep ornamental pond in the garden of the Gokurakukan. A drunken accidental fall into the water would be the perfect accident.
But first, she has to get Tanaka out of there.
Back in the room, Tanaka was unconscious, but not dead. Frilian used magic to maintain his vital signs, making him appear to be merely drunk and asleep.
She struggled to lift him up; Tanaka weighed at least ninety kilograms, but that was nothing to Frilian, who had enhanced her magic.
There was a servants' passageway leading from the room to the back door of the courtyard, a passage rarely used. Frilian dragged Tanaka, avoiding the patrolling guards, and arrived at the courtyard.
Under the moonlight, the surface of the ornamental pond shimmered with silver light.
Frillie dragged Tanaka to the edge of the pond. Just then, Tanaka suddenly woke up.
The magic effect has weakened?
"Who...who are you?" Tanaka asked weakly.
Frillie knelt down and looked into his eyes.
“A passing mage,” she said in her original voice, “and on behalf of the girls you treat as commodities, I send my greetings.”
Tanaka's pupils contracted. He wanted to scream, but Frilian's hand pressed against his forehead. Magic - Memory Blurring. Tanaka's last memory remained in his drunken state, forgetting her face, forgetting everything that had happened.
With a gentle push, Frilian sent Tanaka tumbling into the pond.
Water splashed up. Tanaka struggled a few times, but intoxication and blood loss rendered him unable to float. A few seconds later, the water returned to calm.
Frillie stood by the pool, watching her reflection in the water. Moonlight shone on her face, half bright, half in shadow.
She felt nothing. No pleasure in revenge, no guilt in killing; it was like disposing of a broken tool.
"Clap clap clap," applause rang out as she turned to leave.
A person emerged from the shadow of the cherry blossom tree.
Sakurai Kogure, dressed in a white kimono, looked like a ghost under the moon, with a half-smile on her face.
“Excellent. Chiba, or rather, Doctor, your performance was truly brilliant.”
Chapter 520 Frilian: I'm here to save you
Sakurai Kogure's applause was soft, but it was jarringly clear in the quiet courtyard. She walked on the fallen cherry blossoms, the hem of her white kimono fluttering slightly in the night breeze, like a walking ghost flower.
Frillie didn't move; she simply stood by the ornamental pool, the moonlight casting a long shadow behind her.
"It was handled very cleanly." Sakurai Kogure walked to the edge of the pond and looked down at the body in the water. "A drunkard accidentally fell into the water. It's a typical accident. Gokurakukan has a few such cases every year. It won't attract much attention as long as the family doesn't investigate further."
“But you know his family won’t investigate further, right?” Sakurai Kogure smiled. “Mr. Tanaka’s wife separated from him three years ago, and his daughter lives in Switzerland and doesn’t contact him even once a year. His business partners are only concerned with dividing the assets. The death of a lonely old man is like a pebble thrown into the ocean; the ripples will soon disappear.”
Frillie remained silent.
“Let me guess,” Sakurai Kogure said, circling Frillie as if admiring a work of art. “This isn’t your first time killing someone, but you’re not a bloodthirsty person either. You killed Tanaka because he crossed your line, that girl. You wanted to save her, but taking her away directly would expose you, so you chose to let the threat disappear.”
