Flamel whistled, his fat cheeks jiggling with excitement. "Wow, great, just like you."
He raised his glass, "Cheers to you."
Angers raised his glass and clinked it against his, the glasses making a crisp sound. He downed the wine in one gulp, his Adam's apple bobbing, the ice gurgling in the empty glass.
“So,” Angers put down his cup, the white rose trembling slightly against his chest, “in order to make it possible to launch a nuclear bomb at the Nibelungen, I need your little bit of help.”
He paused, looking directly at Flamel, "I've run into some trouble lately."
Flamel immediately clutched his stomach, his face contorted in exaggerated pain. "Ouch, ouch, I suddenly feel a stomachache. It must be because the pizza wasn't fresh."
He made a move to get up and slip away.
Angers sighed and tapped his fingers lightly on the table. "Your acting skills are far inferior to your alchemy."
Flamel sat back on the sofa awkwardly, his beer belly swaying under his clothes. "What can I help you with?"
He narrowed his eyes warily. "I hope it's nothing troublesome."
“In the board of directors,” Angers said slowly, his fingers gently tracing the white rose petals on his chest, “the Gattuso family is putting pressure on all the board members, preparing to fire me, the principal.”
Flamel's jaw nearly dropped to his beer belly. "Huh? Are you kidding me! If we fire you, who will take your place? Frost Gattuso volunteering to be the principal?"
Angers chuckled coldly, took out a cigar from his inner suit pocket, and slowly trimmed the end with a cigar cutter. "Heh, at first I also thought that no one in the Secret Service could replace me."
He lit a cigar, took a deep drag, and the smoke formed perfect smoke rings in the air. "But recent events have given Frost an excuse."
Flamel's expression shifted from shock to contemplation, finally settling on a look of sudden realization. "You mean Six Flags?"
“Yes.” Angers chewed the last ice cube in his glass, the sound of his teeth grinding against the ice making one’s teeth ache. “Chu Zihang used the high-risk Word of Power, Lord Flame, in public. The Board of Directors suspects whether Chu Zihang’s bloodline has reached the critical point.”
Flamel frowned. "In the Nibelungen Project, Chu Zihang is also a strong competitor of Caesar."
“That’s right,” Angers exhaled a puff of smoke. “Through the SS-level documents they obtained from China, they can find out that Chu Zihang went to the Nibelungen.”
He sneered, "The Gattuso family has two cards up their sleeve: either prove that Chu Zihang's bloodline is dangerous and needs to be eliminated, or use him as a key to enter the Nibelungen. Either way, it will disqualify me from being the principal of Kassel."
Flamel paused for a moment. "So what do you need me to do?"
"The Board of Trustees will hold an emergency meeting next week. As the Vice Principal, you have the right to attend."
Flamel gave a wry smile: "You know I hate those pretentious meetings the most."
“I need your authoritative support in alchemy,” Angers said, looking directly at Flamel, “to prove that Chu Zihang’s bloodline is stable, to prove that the Nibelungs do indeed exist, and…”
He paused, then said, "It proves that only I can lead the Secret Service to victory in this war."
Flamel sighed, his stomach rising and falling with his breath. "You know how the school board won't easily believe this. Especially the Gattuso family, they've been waiting for this opportunity for far too long."
Angers laughed, a laugh that sent a chill down Flamel's spine. "So they need a shock."
He took out a small, silver USB drive from his pocket. "This contains the weaknesses and incriminating evidence against the board members, enough to make them, sitting in their ivory towers, face reality."
Flamel took the USB drive, weighed it in his hand, and said, "You prepared all this a long time ago."
“I have been preparing for over a hundred years,” Angers said, his voice as soft as a sigh.
Flamel grinned. "Alright, old friend. To see the day you drop a nuclear bomb on the Nibelungen, I'll reluctantly wear a suit to this damn meeting. As for Chu Zihang's matter, I'll send in professionals to handle it."
He patted his protruding belly. "But you'll have to prepare a suit that fits me well enough."
Angers smiled, reached out and adjusted the white rose on his chest, "Deal."
He walked to the door and picked up the black umbrella leaning against the wall.
Before opening the door, he glanced back at Flamel. "By the way, prepare a detailed report on the Nibelungen mark. We'll need evidence if the board of directors asks about Chu Zihang."
Flamel gave an exaggerated salute. "Yes, Angers. But you have to promise me one thing."
"what's up?"
"If we really find a way to enter the Nibelungen, let me be the first to study it. That's the holy land of alchemy!"
Angers opened his black umbrella, the post-rain breeze lifting the hem of his suit jacket. "I promise you."
Flamel stood in the doorway, watching Angers' retreating figure, and shook his head. "You really are a vengeful god."
Chapter 85 My Sloppy Roommate
Lu Mingfei pushed open the dormitory door, and a familiar smell of fried food wafted out, making him wrinkle his nose involuntarily.
There were seven or eight KFC and McDonald's wrappers scattered on the ground, some still containing ketchup and fries crumbs.
Fingel slumped in his creaky computer chair, holding half a spicy chicken burger in one hand and typing on the keyboard with the other.
“Hey Fingel,” Lu Mingfei kicked away an empty Coke cup at his feet and carefully made his way through this fast food dump, “how many times have you ordered the same takeout this week?”
Without looking up, Fingel replied vaguely, "I can't remember, but there were coupons."
He swallowed the food in his mouth and looked away from the screen. "What, you have a problem with that?"
"It's not that I have a problem with it," Lu Mingfei sighed, tossing his backpack onto his bed. "I'm just curious, won't your taste buds protest if you eat the same burgers and fries for a whole week?"
Fingel spun his chair to face Lu Mingfei, his face bearing the expression that said, "Young man, you're still too naive."
“Mingfei, you don’t understand. Ordering takeout is a profound art, involving three major factors: decision paralysis, time cost, and budget.”
He solemnly raised his finger and said, "When you are faced with hundreds of restaurants and thousands of dishes, the simplest solution is to choose the one you ate yesterday."
"Is this your reason for eating spicy chicken burgers for seven days in a row?" Lu Mingfei couldn't help but complain.
“Wrong!” Fingel declared righteously, “The day before yesterday I had a spicy chicken burger, it was a completely different experience!”
Lu Mingfei rolled his eyes and decided to give up on this debate that was destined to fail.
He bent down and began to pick up the trash on the ground, at least clearing a path for himself to walk through.
Fingel turned back to the computer, his fingers flying across the keyboard, occasionally letting out a strange laugh.
"What are you doing?" Lu Mingfei asked curiously as he stuffed a bunch of packaging bags into the trash can.
“Post it,” Fingel said smugly, turning to show him the screen. “Rational Discussion: Who is stronger, Lu Mingfei or the Polar Bear? How about that, eye-catching title, right?”
"What the hell? Me and a polar bear? Fingel, are you out of your mind?!"
“This is called an academic discussion,” Fingel said seriously, a smile creeping onto his face. “Look, it’s only been three minutes since it was posted, and there are already more than twenty replies.”
Lu Mingfei leaned closer to the screen; the comments below the post were growing rapidly.
[Can a polar bear crush a seal's skull with a single paw? Could Lu Mingfei do that?]
The comment above is too superficial. Can the physical attributes of mixed-race individuals be calculated using normal methods?
I bet five cents that Lu Mingfei will win; I saw his physical test data last time.
Polar bears win, after all, they have their own fur coats, making them resistant to the cold, and they have an environmental advantage.
"How idle are these people?" Lu Mingfei thought speechlessly as he watched the increasingly absurd discussion.
Fingel seemed to enjoy it, occasionally replying to a few comments and adding fuel to the fire.
He turned to Lu Mingfei and said, "Don't be so serious. Forums are for chatting. Besides..."
He blinked. "Maybe it can help boost your popularity at the academy?"
"Boosting popularity by fighting polar bears?" Lu Mingfei slumped on his bed. "I'm a normal person, okay? How could a normal person possibly beat a polar bear? Those things are almost three meters tall when they stand up, and one slap could shove me into the wall and I wouldn't be able to get out."
Fingel shook his head, adopting a professor's lecturing posture, and even pushed up non-existent glasses. "That's not right, Lu Mingfei. Any hybrid of B grade or above, with full equipment, can defeat a polar bear without taking any damage."
He paused for a moment, then added, "In other words, a hybrid that can't beat a polar bear can go home and go to sleep."
Lu Mingfei grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, "You're the one who should wash up and go to bed! Who in their right mind would go and fight a polar bear?"
Fingel easily caught the pillow and chuckled, "Don't be so insecure. Look, you have quite a few people supporting you on the forum."
He turned back to his computer and continued to fan the flames, "Oh, someone suggested organizing a field test. Isn't there a small polar zoo behind the academy?"
Lu Mingfei immediately jumped out of bed: "You dare!"
He rushed over to grab Fingel's keyboard, and the two wrestled in the cramped dormitory room.
After playing around for a while, the two returned to their respective spots, panting.
Fingel casually grabbed two cans of cola from the bedside table and tossed one to Lu Mingfei. He then pulled the tab.
"Seriously," Fingel took a big gulp of cola and changed the subject, "How are things going with you and Frilian lately? Any progress?"
Lu Mingfei wiped his mouth. "What progress could there be? It's just like that."
"Come on," Fingel said with a "I know you too well" look. "I saw you two worked together quite well in the last practical class. She even helped you organize your equipment."
Lu Mingfei's face flushed slightly. "That's because we're partners. Isn't it normal for partners to help each other?"
Fingel sighed dramatically, "Mingfei, Mingfei, when will you ever find a partner?"
He sat up straight, adopting a strategist's posture, "Take my advice, senior: when pursuing a girl, you have to take the initiative. For example..."
His eyes lit up. "You can pretend to get injured during training and see her reaction. If she takes extra care of you, then there's a chance!"
Lu Mingfei looked disgusted: "What a terrible idea! Wouldn't it be even more embarrassing if we got caught?"
“Then let’s try something else!” Fingel exclaimed, getting excited. “Let’s stage a hero-saves-the-damsel-in-distress scenario! I can play the bad guy, and you suddenly appear.”
"Stop, stop, stop," Lu Mingfei quickly waved his hand, "Why do all your ideas sound like they were copied from third-rate romance dramas?"
Fingel retorted, "Art imitates life! Besides, how do you know it won't work if you don't try?"
Lu Mingfei shook his head, deciding not to continue this dangerous topic.
He knew Fingel too well; once the guy entered "strategist mode," he could come up with all sorts of outrageous suggestions.
The dormitory fell into a brief silence, broken only by the sound of Fingel typing on his keyboard and the faint shouts coming from the distant playground.
Lu Mingfei stared blankly at the ceiling, involuntarily thinking of Frillie.
"And what about Zero?" Fingel interrupted Lu Mingfei's reverie.
"Huh? Who?" Lu Mingfei didn't react for a moment.
“Zero, that cold Russian girl,” Fingel said, looking at him meaningfully. “I think she’s interested in you.”
Lu Mingfei's eyes widened, as if he had heard something out of the blue: "Zero has feelings for me? Senior brother, have you taken the wrong medicine today?"
He touched Fingel's forehead dramatically. "No fever."
Fingel slapped his hand away: "I'm serious. Didn't you notice the way she looked at you? And she always tacitly agrees to be in your group for every group assignment."
