"That's because we cooperate efficiently, okay?" Lu Mingfei retorted. "Everyone says Zero is the 'Snow Queen' and won't fall in love with anyone."
Fingel shrugged. "Who knows? There might be a volcano under the iceberg."
Lu Mingfei shook his head, deciding to ignore Fingel's ramblings.
How could someone as aloof as Zero possibly be interested in him? Just imagining that scene made him feel like it was unreal.
"Alright, alright, stop with the nonsense. Want to play some games? I just bought a racing game."
Fingel perked up: "You should have said so earlier! I'll show you what a Kassel racing legend is all about!"
The two frantically connected the game console and turned the monitor to a more suitable angle for two-player gaming.
Fingel pulled out a bag of potato chips that had been sitting there for who knows how long, and the two of them sat cross-legged on the floor like that.
"I'm warning you, don't choose the Rainbow track!" Lu Mingfei warned in advance when selecting the map.
Fingel looked completely innocent: "Why? That map is so beautiful."
"Because you always manage to knock me off that bend!"
“That’s called tactics, don’t you understand?” Fingel said confidently. “A true race car driver knows how to make good use of all terrain advantages.”
Once the game started, the dormitory was filled with the two people shouting and the clicking of the controller buttons.
As he predicted, Fingel didn't miss any opportunity to use underhanded tactics, either throwing a tortoise shell at a crucial moment or deliberately slowing down and blocking the way.
"That's so despicable!" Lu Mingfei protested after being tricked by Fingel for the nth time.
Fingel grinned like a fox who had just stolen a chicken: "All's fair in war, you taught me that."
"When did I ever teach you this?"
"Didn't you say last week that 'in battle, we should make good use of all our advantages'?"
"That's for fighting enemies, not for playing racing games!"
Fingel ignored him and continued his ruthless playing style.
After several rounds of the game, Lu Mingfei was a little tired and stretched. On Fingel's computer screen, the forum post had reached more than 300 posts.
"Hey, is your polar bear battle still going?" he asked, pointing at the screen.
Fingel glanced at it and chuckled: "Oh, now it's gotten to the point where someone's suggesting we introduce variables, like 'the case where Lu Mingfei is armed' or 'the case where the polar bear has been starving for a week'."
Chapter 86 Investigation Team
Andrew Gattuso, head of the special investigation team dispatched by the Board of Trustees, looked smugly at the scenery rushing past the car window.
He, Andrew, graduated from the law school of Yale University in the United States. That's right, the school from which several US presidents and countless judges graduated.
Unfortunately, his bloodline purity is low, and his Word of Power is weak. Currently, he serves as the Gattuso family's legal advisor, working on the family's legal affairs and has never been involved with Kassel College. This is the family's largest investment, incredibly expensive, but one they have no choice but to make.
“Bloodline purity.” Andrew tapped on the edge of the car window, his eyes darkening.
Every time he thinks of this word, he feels a sharp pain.
In an ancient family like Gattuso's, bloodline is everything. Because of his mother's "impure" bloodline, he could never enter the inner circle of the family.
Andrew looks younger than his actual age, thanks to the genetic advantages of being of mixed race, but he ages much faster than his kind who are of pure blood.
"Damn bloodline," he cursed inwardly, then straightened his back.
It's okay, today is his chance to prove himself.
Kassel College is a gathering place for elites from all over the world, and its tenured professors are all exceptional individuals. No matter how successful a mixed-race person is, if they don't meet the standards of these tenured professors, they are considered second-rate.
Andrew chuckled softly. Today, he was going to Kassel College to impeach the principal who had broken the law and violated discipline.
What he held in his hand was the great "Abraham's Bloodline Contract," and he was about to display his brilliance before the lifelong professor and successfully impeach Angers!
"Commander," a gentle voice came from the carriage door.
Andrew turned his head, and there stood Patrice Gattuso. The young man always kept his head slightly lowered, his long blond hair obscuring his eyes, making it impossible to see his expression.
Percy was sent by Frost Gattuso to "assist" him in the impeachment process, nominally as an assistant, but in reality...
Andrew sneered inwardly; they were nothing more than spies sent by the family to monitor him.
"what's up?"
"The train is about to arrive at the station. Please prepare accordingly."
Andrew nodded slightly, indicating that he understood.
"Does the academy know we're coming?" Andrew asked casually, adjusting his cuffs.
"We have already informed them that they will be waiting for us at the platform."
Andrew smiled. "Not bad, not bad, they were quite polite. How are they doing? Are they panicking because they heard they were going to be investigated?"
"Uh, well, he didn't seem panicked on the phone."
Andrew narrowed his eyes. Angers, that old fox, was indeed very composed.
But it doesn't matter, he has enough leverage. Chu Zihang's dangerous lineage is enough to plunge Angers into a media storm.
“Percy,” Andrew said seriously, “we are traveling on behalf of the Board of Trustees, and we must not have any contact with Kassel College in private!”
"Yes!" Passy hesitated for a moment, then asked, "But to impeach Angers, we still need to win over the tenured professors. Should we soften our stance a bit?"
Andrew stood up. "Reconciliation? There's no need for compromise! Chu Zihang's dangerous lineage is enough to give Angers a hard time! The Board of Trustees has enough evidence; this impeachment is inevitable!"
“One is the principal of Kassel College, and the other is the president of the Lionheart Society. I am worried that being too forceful will lead to resistance from the student body.”
Andrew sneered. So what if they resisted? The Board of Trustees, or rather the secret society behind them, was the most powerful and evil organization. What was there to worry about?
These students are nothing but greenhorns. Even if there are a few geniuses with pure bloodlines, they are no match for true power.
"Prepare a plan for me," Andrew commanded. "I will meet with each of the tenured professors and department heads one by one, dismantling Angers's defenses one by one, leaving him no way to escape!"
"Yes!" Percy replied and left the carriage.
Andrew sat back down, his heart pounding with the impending power struggle.
This was the opportunity he had been waiting for. In the Gattuso family, he would always be a second-rate figure who was "not pure enough."
But today, as the head of the special investigation team dispatched by the Board of Trustees, he will face those mixed-race individuals whose bloodlines are far purer than his, and read out the verdict against Angers.
The thrill of about to pull the high and mighty down from their pedestal made him tremble slightly.
The train began to slow down, and the scenery outside the window gradually became clearer.
Andrew took a deep breath, straightened his tie, and made sure every detail was perfect.
The train came to a complete stop. Andrew picked up his briefcase and strode confidently toward the door. Percy was waiting there and opened the door for him.
“Remember,” Andrew whispered to Percy, “from now on, we represent the Board of Trustees. Don’t give the college any special treatment.”
Percy nodded slightly, still without looking up. "Understood, Commander."
Andrew stepped off the train, ready to receive a formal welcoming ceremony. The Board of Trustees' special investigation team had arrived, and Kassel College should have been trembling with fear, as if walking on thin ice.
Ok?
On the platform, students dressed in Kassel College uniforms stood in two neat rows, holding bright red banners that read in both Chinese and English: "Warmly welcome the Board of Trustees' investigation team to visit and provide guidance."
As Andrew appeared at the car door, the students began to clap rhythmically and shout in unison, "Welcome! Welcome! A warm welcome!"
Andrew's lips twitched. What... what was going on? An exaggerated Chinese-style welcoming ceremony?
He had heard of this uniquely Eastern style of hospitality, but never imagined he would see it at Kassel College.
"Commander Andrew! Welcome!" A loud voice came from the end of the welcoming party.
Andrew looked in the direction of the sound and saw a middle-aged, slovenly man wearing a flashy Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses striding towards him, followed by several people who looked like faculty members of the college.
“I am Flamel, the vice principal of Kassel College,” the man said, extending his hand warmly. “You can call me vice principal, or old Flamel.”
Andrew hesitated for a second before extending his hand. "Andrew Gattuso, head of the Board of Trustees' special investigation team."
He deliberately emphasized the words "investigation team" in an attempt to make the atmosphere more serious.
Flamel grabbed his hand and shook it vigorously. "Oh, we've been waiting for you! Our entire college attaches great importance to the Board of Trustees' inspection and has prepared a special welcome ceremony!"
He turned to the students and shouted, "One more time, with more enthusiasm!"
"Welcome! Welcome! A warm welcome!" The students' voices grew even louder, and some even took out ribbons and small flags and waved them.
This was completely different from what Andrew had expected; Kassel College should have been tense, wary, and even hostile.
“Mr. Vice Principal,” Andrew said, barely managing to maintain a serious expression, “I think you understand that the purpose of our trip is not an inspection, but an investigation. The Board of Trustees has expressed serious concern about the situation at Kassel College in recent years.”
Flamel patted Andrew on the shoulder. "Of course, of course, investigations should be conducted in a friendly atmosphere! Come, come, we've prepared a welcome feast for you, authentic Chinese food. Do you like Sichuan cuisine?"
Andrew glanced at Percy. He liked Sichuan cuisine, but how did such a personal preference get to the vice principal's ears?
Percy shook his head, indicating that it wasn't him who revealed it.
“No need,” Andrew said coldly. “Let’s get straight to work. First, I need to see Principal Angers.”
Flamel's smile remained unchanged. "Guests from afar are welcome, so we should have a meal before discussing business."
Andrew's eyelid twitched; he had a bad feeling.
Percy coughed lightly. "Commander, perhaps we can accept the academy's arrangement first."
After a moment's hesitation, Andrew reluctantly nodded, "Alright, but please arrange my meeting with the principal as soon as possible."
“No problem!” Flamel waved excitedly. “Come on, the float is ready, please get on.”
Chapter 87 A Warm Welcome
Andrew's temples throbbed, and he felt like he was being rubbed into the ground by a group of lunatics.
The area around them was noisy and filled with cheering students. Lu Mingfei and Frilian were also among the cheering crowd.
"Frilian, do I look stupid dressed like this?" Lu Mingfei tugged at his Santa Claus costume.
“A bit, the vice principal’s quirky sense of humor,” replied Frilian, who was cosplaying as the Fairy Queen.
Five minutes ago, Vice Principal Flamel was just overly enthusiastic.
Now, this old man in a Hawaiian shirt had his alcohol-smelling arm tightly around Andrew's neck, and with his other hand holding a champagne glass, he shouted loudly to the hundreds of cheering students below the stage:
