Seeing the group leave, the smiling doll-like girl's expression immediately fell, and she slumped onto the table, scattering the surrounding documents all over the floor. Everyone around her stared in astonishment.
"What a disastrous day..."
Isaac and his companions continued to wander aimlessly through the streets of Leiden.
"Speaking of which, Claudia, what do you want to do after the war? Continue serving in the army?" Isaac asked Claudia, having nothing better to do.
Claudia was surprised by Isaac's question, but she still replied, "Me? I want to start a post office after the war."
When the topic of opening a postal company came up, Claudia's face lit up with longing.
"Really? I thought you were going back to take over your family business."
“I am the second son in the family, and the family business was inherited by my eldest brother,” Claudia said with a smile.
“I see. So, if we were to open a postal company…” Isaac seemed to have thought of something and said to Claudia, “I think you could poach that young lady from them.”
"what happened?"
“I think an Auto Memory Doll as good as her would definitely be popular, after all, she can swear.”
Is all you can think of anymore?!
However, Claudia sighed and said, "I'll give it a try."
I know her quite well and am very familiar with her professional abilities; she is indeed an excellent auto-notebook doll.
"I wonder if my letter ever actually reached the President."
Ah ha~ then it definitely won't be delivered.
Claudia desperately wanted to laugh, but she held it in. She muttered, "It will definitely be delivered."
"That's good."
The group continued walking. Claudia continued chatting with Isaac, and through their conversation, he managed to glean some information about the young man.
Money-grubber, you're out of your mind.
This is Claudia's assessment of Isaac. It must be said that as the child of a merchant family, he is indeed more observant than the average person.
"Speaking of which, is Miss Violet really just your subordinate?" Claudia asked, somewhat curiously, looking at the silent girl following closely behind Isaac.
"What else did you think it was?"
"I always thought this was your girlfriend," Claudia joked with a laugh.
“I’m only 17, how could I possibly be in a relationship?” Isaac said.
How could a 17-year-old go to the battlefield?
"So, where are we going now?"
"How about we find a shop for afternoon tea first? I'm a little hungry," Claudia suggested.
Just as the group was about to look for a place to have tea, a soldier in military uniform approached them.
"Excuse me, are you Mr. Isaac?"
“Yes, it’s me.” Isaac looked at the soldier with a puzzled expression.
“Lieutenant General Bastian asked me to inform you that the instructors have been found,” the soldier said.
"You're very efficient. Okay, I'll be there in a bit."
After receiving Isaac's reply, the soldier saluted and went back to report.
"Looks like afternoon tea won't be in the way," Claudia chuckled.
"When the opportunity arises later, I'll go to the headquarters to see them first."
The group headed back to the Army Headquarters.
As I walked in, I saw several burly soldiers standing next to Bastian.
Bastian went to greet Isaac and the others when he saw them arrive.
“Isaac, I’ve found you the instructor you wanted.”
After listening, Isaac looked at the group of people, and the instructors were also looking at Isaac.
"So you're the one we're supposed to train?" One of the taller instructors seemed to look down on Isaac's small frame, assuming that he must have gotten into the army through connections.
“Oh, it wasn’t me,” Isaac said nonchalantly.
"I don't think so, someone like you..."
“It’s her.” He then pointed to Violet behind him.
"What!" The instructor seemed unable to believe his ears, and the other instructors also looked surprised.
"You want us, a few people, to teach a little girl? Are you kidding me! What do you take us for?" the tall instructor roared.
In his view, this was even worse than teaching Isaac, that spoiled brat; it was an insult to them.
"Stop talking nonsense, are you guys going to teach me or not?" Isaac looked at the group impatiently.
"I was called here before I even had afternoon tea, not because you monkeys were making excuses."
"Damn it, kid, you're asking for it!" The tall instructor threw a punch at Isaac.
But the fist stopped halfway through swinging the knife.
His wrists and elbows were firmly held in place.
It was Violet who made the move.
She rushed out as soon as she saw someone attacking Isaac.
"Stop it, all of you!" Bastian shouted as he saw the men start fighting.
"Damn it, you little bastard, let me go!" The instructor roared, feeling humiliated that he had been captured by a little girl.
The other instructors saw this and immediately wanted to rush forward.
boom--
Before they could rush up, a sudden burst of lightning flashed around them, and to their horrified eyes, stone pillars rose from the ground, pinning them to the ceiling.
"As a soldier, disobeying military orders is utterly despicable."
Isaac looked at the somewhat embarrassed Bastian and said, "Find me a new group of people."
Chapter Thirty-Nine: Let's Go Downstairs and Play Running
Isaac simply left those people plastered on the ceiling and didn't bother with them. He then left with Violet and Bastian.
Claudia left when Isaac came to headquarters, and no one knows where she went.
"Speaking of which, what's going on? Logically speaking, how could these guys not obey orders given by a lieutenant general like you?" Isaac was very puzzled by the instructors' behavior.
"They're from the conservative side; I guess they're here to trip me up."
Bastian hadn't expected this to happen either, and gave a wry smile.
“Isaac, don’t worry. This time I’m introducing you to a friend of mine, someone I trust.”
"Okay, I'll trust you one more time."
The two walked on until they arrived at the military camp next to the headquarters.
In a training field.
"Too slow! Speed up the time by one minute!"
"What are you dawdling for? If I were the enemy, I would have killed you by now!"
"Who told you to stop?! Keep running!"
Before even stepping inside, one could hear a series of loud, reprimanding voices coming from within. The faint sounds of gunfire could also be heard.
After the group went inside, they found that many soldiers were training hard in the training ground.
A group of soldiers were running, fighting, and doing push-ups on the training ground, while others were practicing shooting at the shooting range next to them.
Just then, Isaac spotted a white-haired old soldier leaning on a cane, cursing loudly. He must be the one who had been yelling at them. He was currently berating a group of soldiers who seemed to be moving at a slower pace as they crossed the barbed wire.
"You bunch of idiots, if you fail again, go back to your hometowns and masturbate—" the veteran cursed at the soldiers who were bowing their heads.
It has to be said, it's very impressive.
"Hey! Barnett, still as energetic as ever!" Bastian said with a smile as he walked toward the veteran.
"Bastian? What brings you here, you old rascal?" Barnett was quite pleased to see Bastian, who was completely different from the devilish instructor he had been just moments before. He patted Bastian on the shoulder with a smile. "What? You've been targeted so badly by your superiors that you want to become an instructor here?"
They seem to have a pretty good relationship.
The two were originally comrades-in-arms, but Banat was injured in the leg by a grenade during a mission, which made him somewhat inconvenient to move around. So he gave up his military service and came here to become an instructor.
"Don't joke around, I'm perfectly fine!" Bastian glared at the old soldier named Banat.
"Hahaha, really? That's a real shame." Barnett didn't seem to care at all. "So, what brings you here this time?"
"Someone asked me to find an instructor, and that's how I ended up finding you."
"Who would dare to ask you for a favor?" Barnett was also quite curious. Although his old comrade-in-arms had always been targeted by conservatives in the army, it was not something an ordinary person could do to persuade him to help.
“This is the kid.” He said, pointing to Isaac beside him.
Barnett scrutinized the boy closely, then looked somewhat surprised.
He sensed that the boy exuded the aura of a soldier, the kind of aura that comes from a soldier who has experienced countless battles and bloodshed.
This young man is extraordinary.
“Of course, it was this boy who asked me to do it. The one who really needs your training is this little girl.” He then pointed to Violet next to Isaac.
“A little girl?” Barnett also noticed Violet.
This little girl doesn't have the air of a soldier, but somehow... she seems a bit dangerous.
"Are you sure it's this little girl?" Barnett asked again to confirm.
"I'm sure."
Barnett didn't speak, but looked at Violet: "Little girl, the training here is very tough. It's not too late to give up now."
“I’m willing to accept training as long as it can help Mr. Isaac,” Violet replied without hesitation.
