"Tom?"
Dumbledore opened the diary. The ink that had seeped out from Bobby's touch had not completely disappeared. The old wizard recognized it at a glance, and the name Tom Riddle was so conspicuous.
“An evil Horcrux…” Dumbledore murmured. “Bobby, where did you get it?”
Bobby chuckled and replied, "It's in the women's restroom on the second floor. I was just using the toilet when this diary was suddenly thrown into a stall, hitting my head and making it hurt so much." Bobby patted Fox's head, returned to his seat, and said very seriously, "What's worse is that this diary even looked down on me and asked what I was! It's the thing that's something!"
In just a few words, Dumbledore unleashed a torrent of complaints from who-knows-where.
But Bobby's attempt to change the subject failed, and Dumbledore continued, "Then why did you go to that toilet? If I remember correctly, that toilet on the second floor is occupied by the ghost of Myrtle, and very few people go there."
“This is a complicated problem,” Poppy said seriously, leaning back on the table, his hands crossed and resting on his chin (similar to Shinji Ikari’s father). “I feel the call of the will of the universe. It tells me that if I want to sleep well tonight, I must use the women’s restroom on the second floor!”
Dumbledore stared at Bobby, smiling but saying nothing.
After a moment, Bobby realized he couldn't get away with it, so he had no choice but to tell the truth: "Okay, okay! I'll tell you, alright?"
“Before school started, I saw Lucius Malfoy slip this diary into Ginny Weasley’s book, so I arranged for the house-elves to keep a close watch on Ginny. I can explain this! I was just afraid something would happen to her, wasn’t I?”
Dumbledore maintained his smile and remained motionless.
Hagrid hates smart people, and so does Bobby!
“Okay, I just want to taste the basilisk.” Bobby’s eyes sparkled. “A basilisk! Aren’t you curious, teacher?”
Dumbledore finally spoke, "Bobby, I'd like to know how you knew that the Basilisk's appearance was related to Ginny Weasley."
“It’s just a dream, Mr. Dumbledore!” Bobby said seriously. “Every time I have such a vivid dream, it turns out to be reality when I wake up.”
If there's anything that can't be explained, just attribute it to prophetic abilities; it's always right.
It's not entirely untrue; being well-versed in the original work is, to some extent, a form of prophetic ability.
She leaned back. "I dreamt that Ginny Weasley opened the door to the secret room in the women's restroom on the second floor and summoned the Basilisk. But she communicated with the Basilisk in Parsleyan, which I couldn't understand."
"So, when I found out that Ginny had taken the day off for no apparent reason, I just waited for her there."
"Just to eat a bite of basilisk meat?"
"It's all for a bite of basilisk meat, what else?"
"Isn't it to use the basilisk to achieve your ambitions?" The voice that spoke to Bobby was completely unfamiliar; the person in front of him was not his teacher!
She jumped up from the chair, and lightning and flames instantly rose from her body.
With a bang, another Dumbledore appeared in the office.
"Alright, Gail, that's about enough."
The "Dumbledore" behind the principal's desk gradually transformed into the likeness of Professor Gail Depp.
Poppy relaxed, then said angrily, "Dumbledore! How could you conspire with your old friend to deceive me!"
To be honest, Poppy was really fooled. In her eyes, the nature and frequency of Grindelwald's magic were exactly the same as Dumbledore's. She really didn't know how the first Dark Lord managed to do that!
Dumbledore and Grindelwald both looked at Bobby: "How do you know we're old friends?"
Bobby didn't even blink before blurting out, "Hmph, I know a lot! This Mr. Gail Depp is none other than the famous Gellert Grindelwald!"
Grindelwald wasn't surprised and chuckled, "Did you dream about it again?"
"more or less."
Dumbledore extended his right hand in a gesture of shooing, and Grindelwald stood up and gave up his seat.
"Gellert, have you made up your mind?"
Grindelwald shook his head, walked to Bobby's side, bent down to look him in the eye, and repeated his question: "You really don't have any other purpose in looking for the basilisk?"
Bobby rolled his eyes: "First, I don't speak Parsley, and I'm not a descendant of Slytherin, so that basilisk won't listen to me; second, that piece of junk can only scare ordinary wizards and Muggles, what good is it? I could smash its head in one punch, only the naive sixteen-year-old Voldemort would treat it like a treasure!"
Poppy is right. If the Basilisk really worked, Voldemort could have summoned it last semester. Wouldn't it have been great if the Basilisk had fought Cerberus?
"So you were spying and stalking me, all for a bite to eat?"
"Ugh, Grindelwald, you're so annoying!"
Bobby jumped up from his chair, went around the desk, and hid behind Dumbledore: "You don't understand life at all! Isn't the point of living to eat well?"
Bobby argued vehemently, "Don't underestimate this wish. How many people in this world can eat whatever they want?"
Her beautiful green eyes glared at Grindelwald. "Can you eat whatever you want?"
"It's not that I look down on you! There are many Muggle delicacies that you've never even heard of!"
Grindelwald laughed loudly: "So all you do—running trade associations, taming goblins, investing in the Muggle world, and planting people in Muggle governments—is it all for food?"
Bobby was startled. "How did you know? This is a secret between the teacher and me!"
Grindelwald's smile vanished, and he said very seriously, "I dreamt about it."
Ugh, so annoying!
Bobby, no longer grinning, asked seriously, "Uncle Grindelwald, do you know what will happen in fifty years?"
Grindelwald remained silent.
Bobby said, "Muggle technology is advancing faster and faster, and you are probably the most aware of the advancements in weaponry. You saw the power of the atomic bomb decades ago."
“Muggles’ other weapons are more efficient at killing than wizards’, and they also have more of them. So in a head-on confrontation, the wizard’s chances of winning are zero.”
“In every other aspect, Muggles are beginning to catch up with wizards. I think wizards are only a threat to Muggles in two areas now: one is the ability to teleport long distances instantly, such as Apparition, Portkey, and Floo Powder; the other is the Imperius Curse.”
"I see a not-too-distant future where there are cameras everywhere, and satellites floating in space that are constantly monitoring the ground. Muggles will be able to know exactly what is happening in every corner of the world. Wizards will no longer be able to appear and disappear mysteriously."
"And the Imperius Curse... In the future, Muggles will be interconnected by something called the Internet, and social management will become increasingly depersonalized. Can you control ten or twenty people, or even tens of thousands?"
Having imprisoned himself in Nurmengard for so many years, Grindelwald was already disheartened and naturally wouldn't bother to understand the progress of Muggles. If it weren't for Bobby's glimmer of hope being so strong that even he, far away in Austria, felt it and wanted him to come out, it would have been impossible.
"So what are you going to do?" Grindelwald asked.
He was a senior figure and a pioneer of the revolution, yet he was able to humbly seek advice from a twelve-year-old girl. How many people possess such magnanimity?
"The solution remains to abolish the secrecy laws and merge the two worlds into one."
"However! There is no question of one side ruling the other; both sides are equal."
Grindelwald frowned. "If wizards don't rule over Muggles, the Muggles will turn around and oppress the wizards! Only when wizards rule over Muggles can the rights of wizards be guaranteed!"
“No,” Bobby laughed, “you’ve got it wrong. You didn’t become rich because you had power; you had power because you were rich.”
Bobby hugged Fawkes and gave him a couple of hard rubs, then said, "Let's take it one step at a time. First, we need to change the wizarding world, and I think we should start in England."
"There's no need to start any revolution, just let nature take its course. I currently control 60% of the British wizarding world, and the entire Gringotts is mine. In the next ten years, countless Squibs will become wizards, and those people's fates will be changed because of me."
"So who will be the future head of the Ministry of Magic? I can't say, but I was only in my early twenties at the time."
"Next, my investments in the Muggle world will come into play. I've invested in several people, including Bill Gates, Sergey Brin, and Steve Jobs, and I can't say what their future holds. But I can see clearly what the cutting edge of Muggle development will be in the next ten or twenty years."
Using capital to pave the way and the internet to amplify its voice, gradually getting Muggles to accept wizards—in my opinion, that's not difficult.
Grindelwald listened in stunned silence, while Dumbledore chuckled and stroked his beard, his azure eyes never leaving him.
My old friend's reaction to this was the same as mine back then—completely bewildered… What the internet? He had no idea what that was! But that didn't stop me from believing in Bobby.
Grindelwald gathered his thoughts and asked, "It's the same question: you've made such a grand plan just for food?"
Bobby nodded very, very seriously: "Yes, for food."
"If Muggles invade the wizarding world in the future, many species will face extinction due to their barbaric development."
Take the Forbidden Forest as an example. Muggles can't find any economic use for the giant eye spider, and they have no ornamental value, so extinction is the only fate awaiting them. It will be even more difficult for me to get my hands on a giant eye spider leg again.”
"If the wizarding world and the Muggle world are merged, but I don't have the power or the say in public opinion, how can I expand the scale of magical creature breeding and then establish a magical creature food industry chain?"
Thinking of the magnificent future, surrounded by an endless supply of spider leg meat and all kinds of fire dragon meat, Bobby couldn't help but drool.
Bobby chattered on and on, leaving Grindelwald completely bewildered.
This little girl is great in every way, except she's too greedy.
But it's all good. Gluttony, as one of the seven deadly sins, can be considered a desire that drives human progress, which is better than having no desires at all.
Whatever the motive, the little girl's plan sounded plausible.
As for the Muggle nuclear threat, Grindelwald scoffed. Nuclear bombs? We have even more powerful jinxes here.
—Any nuclear missile fired at an area with wizards will explode on the spot.
Are you scared?
This is the most important reason why Grindelwald approves of Poppy!
Grindelwald nodded and smiled at Dumbledore with satisfaction, then beckoned to Bobby, "Child, come here, Grandpa has a gift for you."
Bobby walked up to Grindelwald with a puzzled look on his face.
He took a pendant from his pocket and personally hung it around Bobby's neck. The design on the pendant was of the Deathly Hallows.
"Grandpa doesn't have much to give you, but I have a group of very loyal subordinates, so I'll give them all to you."
Bobby stared wide-eyed, ears perked up like antennas, incredulously at Grindelwald, who had regained his aged appearance.
"This...this isn't appropriate."
"What's inappropriate about it? It's just a gift from Grandpa to his granddaughter."
"Granddaughter?" Bobby keenly grasped the key word, looking completely bewildered.
“Yes, granddaughter!” Grindelwald’s old face beamed with joy; he had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Albus hadn’t lied to himself; teasing little Bobby was indeed endlessly entertaining.
He pulled out another piece of identification from his pocket (there are no identity cards in the UK), which read:
Name: Gail Depp (formerly known as Johnny Evans)
Sex: Male
Date of birth: April 1899, 7
Immediate family members: None
Closest relative: Selvi Evans (son of Rod Evans, Johnny Evans' cousin)
Bobby Evans (daughter of Selvi Evans)
ID number:………………
Does the Dark Lord think he can do whatever he wants? Old man, tell me honestly, did you use the Imperius Curse to create this thing?
