"Bobby is preparing to hold a signing event. Anyone who buys a product from Ant Merchants can have Bobby sign it there. Of course, there will also be many more limited-edition products available for sale on-site!"
"The two beautiful ladies went to the scene first to help maintain order."
"Judging by the time, the book signing should be starting soon. We originally came back to put our things away, and then we'll go help out."
"But my foolish brother has wasted our time."
Before Ron could refute them, they heard deafening cheers coming from the other side of the arena.
The cheers were just repeating one name: Bobby Evans.
Chapter 95 Betting
Ludo Bagman blocked the twins at the tent entrance.
"Aren't these the Weasley owners?"
The title "boss" immediately made Gemini stop in her tracks.
The two exchanged a glance: He calls us boss!
If you can talk, then say more, Mr. Bagman!
"Hello, Mr. Bagman, as the director of the Department of Sports and Recreation, you should be very busy right now!"
Harry looked at the middle-aged man, whose obviously bloated and out-of-shape body was covered by an old-fashioned Winboon Hornets Quidditch jersey, the hornet logo on the chest stretched several sizes too big, making him look as fat as he was.
With short blond hair, round eyes, and an overall demeanor somewhat resembling Dudley Dursley, Ludo Bagman addressed everyone in the tent:
"I'm currently busy with matters related to the competition. You might not know this, but the ministry has passed a resolution to legalize betting on this World Cup! Thirty percent of the profits will be used for a project to lift the werewolf curse!"
Harry shouted, "This must have been done by Cousin Bobby!"
Bagman looked at Harry. "Ha! This must be Harry Potter!" Although he looked much more handsome than the two Dursley men, Harry just felt that Ludo Bagman was the same kind of person as them. "You're right! Harry, your cousin did this. She's such a kind person."
"Oh, let's not talk about irrelevant things anymore, kids. You can place your bets now. With the Ministry and the Ant Chamber of Commerce backing us, this betting platform is absolutely trustworthy!"
Ron was the first to speak: "I want to place a bet! I have 37 silver siecos, all of them for Ireland to win!"
He just lost two Galleons and needs to recover his losses.
“No, no, no!” Bagman shook his head repeatedly. “Child, the odds are a little different this time.”
Everyone looked at Bagman, who explained, "When this betting first started, everyone was betting on Ireland to win, not a single person bet on Bulgaria to win."
Fred exclaimed in surprise, "Even the Bulgarians themselves aren't buying it?"
"Yes, everyone is in complete agreement on the result of this final: Bulgaria had absolutely no chance."
“In the past, although the Irish team was strong overall, Viktor Krum had the ability to turn the game around, and Bulgaria might have been able to fight back.”
“But now,” Bagman looked at Harry Potter, “with Miss Evans on the Irish team, everyone thinks Krum has no chance of catching the Golden Snitch before she does.”
Ron asked anxiously, "Then how should we place the bets?"
"Haha, you can bet on Bulgaria to win, the returns will be absolutely huge, the odds are already 960 to 1! You only need to place a bet of one Galleon, and after Bulgaria wins, you will win 960 Galleons!"
Ron shook his head repeatedly, saying that no matter how high the odds were, Bulgaria couldn't win the championship.
Ron rejected this enormous temptation, and instantly thought himself incredibly clever.
Bagman continued, "To bet on Ireland to win, you have to guess the goal difference correctly, otherwise you won't get the prize money."
The twins' eyes lit up, and while Bagman was still explaining the odds to Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Percy and the others, they quietly slipped out of the tent.
"This betting platform is run by the Ant Merchant Guild!"
"So Bobby must know what to buy!"
"Hehehe..." ×2
The two immediately took out their modified two-way mirrors and sent a communication request.
"Hey, George, Fred, what are you doing? Don't you know I'm busy here?"
Bobby's lightly made-up face appeared in the mirror. She was clearly walking quickly away from the autograph table, with a long line of people waiting to sign autographs behind her.
"Please wait a moment! Miss Evans has some personal business to attend to, she'll be right back!" This was Matilda maintaining order.
“Oh, Bobby, it’s like this,” George lowered his voice, and Fred continued in an even lower voice, “Mr. Bagman asked us to place a bet, and we’d like to ask for your advice.”
Bobby paused for a moment, then smiled. “I see,” she said, glancing behind her to make sure no one could hear her. Then she mumbled, “250 net points, bet as much as you have.”
The twins grinned and turned off the two-way mirror, then ran back to their tent.
Harry and Ron both placed bets. Harry bet 2 Galleons on his cousin catching the Golden Snitch at the start, so he would have a net win of 150 points. Ron thought that Krum could at least keep up with Bobby for a while, and given Ireland's level, there was a high probability that they would lead by 40 or 50 points, so he bet 20 Silver Scouts for a net win of 190 points and 17 Silver Scouts for a net win of 200 points.
George patted Bagman on the shoulder, his face showing some displeasure because Harry and the others had come down so few times.
"We're betting 4,000 Galleons on Ireland to win, with a net gain of 250 points!"
Bagman's slightly sour face immediately brightened up. "As expected of the Weasley boss! So generous! The odds for a 250 net point differential are 9 to 1. Here are the tickets, you two keep them safe!"
Bagman tossed the money pouch handed to him by the twins into his seamless stretch bag and left the Black family's tent with a smug look on his face.
The Geminis rushed to the stadium, as they were needed for Poppy's autograph session.
Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Ginny visited each other's rooms at the camp. After not seeing each other for almost a summer, classmates and friends always have endless topics to talk about.
Happy times always pass quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to head to the stadium.
Led by Arthur, the group quickly entered the forest following the path illuminated by the magic lantern.
There, countless Quidditch enthusiasts strolled around, their laughter, discussions, and even singing filling the entire forest.
A forest shrouded in thick fog should be eerie and terrifying, but at this moment, the dense fog only makes one feel like dry ice on a large stage.
Harry loved the atmosphere so much that he couldn't help but smile.
He glanced at Ron beside him, who was already grinning foolishly, his left hand still in his pocket. Harry clearly remembered that his "little cousin" was in that pocket.
Hmm... Ron should just be a good friend to me, but I'll pass on the idea of him being my cousin-in-law.
Take my advice, Ron, and give up that idea.
Harry looked at Hermione on his right, who was also smiling. Her attention was almost entirely focused on the Irish team badge on her chest. Touching the badge would project a 3D image of a shamrock, but if she was lucky, the shamrock would turn into a four-leaf clover. Whenever this happened, Hermione would squint her eyes happily.
Percy, carrying two large bags filled with holographic telescopes and various snacks, still had an excited blush on his face. Just now, he had spoken to his idol, Mr. Barty Crouch! Although Mr. Crouch called him Weatherby, if he could gain Mr. Crouch's favor, he would even change his name to Weatherby Weasley... Clearly, Percy still valued his surname.
Ginny followed silently behind her father and brother, her eyes never leaving Harry. She glanced disdainfully at Ron, who had his left hand in his pocket, but in her heart she thought that it would be great if Harry could become a Quidditch player, so that she could have her own statue.
But then she thought, why make a statue? Wouldn't it be better to just take down the real person? She didn't want to be like that spineless Ron.
They walked for twenty minutes, through the woods, and arrived at the huge stadium.
The golden walls shimmered beautifully under the magical light. "It can hold 100,000 spectators!" Arthur explained to Harry, seeing his surprised expression. "Our five hundred colleagues in the Ministry of Magic have been working on this competition for a whole year! Just setting up the Muggle-repelling charms around the area took a lot of effort."
“Hey, Dad!” George and Fred emerged from the huge shadow cast by the stadium, followed by the two girls.
"George, Fred!" Arthur asked with a smile, "Is Bobby's autograph session over?"
"It's over a long time ago. We've been waiting for you for a while."
Sirius Black ran over from the stadium entrance. "Ha! I've checked everything. The security in the penthouse boxes is fine, Harry, it's safe here!"
Arthur nodded. "Now that we're all here, let's go up together!"
Chapter 96 The Grand Finale Has a Unique Style: Avada Kedavra Arrives from the Sky (Part 1)
The group climbed the steps, stepping on the crimson carpet, and arrived at their private room.
Harry, with his sharp eyes, noticed that the Ant Guild's logo was also printed on one corner of the carpet.
Out of curiosity, he gently tapped the logo with his wand.
Sure enough! Every trademark of the Ant Chamber of Commerce inevitably features a performance by our little cousin.
Poppy, dressed in a suit, popped out of the carpet's logo, beaming with a beautiful, gentle voice:
"Ant Brand Carpets! Tighter, denser, and never fades! Plus, they come with a ten-year self-cleaning spell. Say goodbye to those deceptive carpet cleaners!"
This can't be my little cousin, how could my cousin be so cute...
Their box was located at the highest point of the stadium, directly opposite the golden goalposts; twenty purple-gilded chairs were arranged in two rows.
There was no one in the private room except for a house-elf.
"Dobby?" Harry asked uncertainly.
“No, sir, I am Sparkle, not Dobby.”
Sparkle's voice was even higher-pitched, and Harry guessed it was a girl.
"I'm sorry, Sparkle, I admit my mistake."
“No, sir, you don’t need to apologize. Besides, I know Dobby too.” Sparkle tilted her head and saw the scar on Harry’s forehead. “Oh, sir, you must be Harry Potter. Dobby talks about you and Her Majesty the Queen all the time.”
Sparkle was trembling as she spoke. Harry asked, "Sparkle, are you feeling unwell?"
With her big, bright eyes blinking, she said, "Sir, I'm afraid of heights."
"If you're afraid of heights, why are you still here?"
"Because the owner let Shiny reserve the seat, Shiny must obey orders."
Harry was extremely puzzled. Wasn't this private room supposed to be one seat per person? Why did they need to reserve a seat?
Just as he was about to ask more questions, he heard an arrogant voice: "Weasley? You can actually afford first class? Did you sell some of your ancestral heirlooms?"
Harry looked in the direction of the sound and saw the Malfoy family standing at the door of the private room. Lucius Malfoy was still dressed in his old-fashioned aristocratic attire, but his energy and spirit were obviously not as good as they were two years ago.
In the past, Arthur would have been angry and argued with him, and might even have gotten into a fight.
But the Weasleys are now very confident. He said with a smile, "Malfoy, don't worry about our family. I heard your family business suffered heavy losses last year, and didn't pay a single copper nut in taxes?"
Arthur, looking as if he were proud to pay taxes, loudly proclaimed, "Last year, our family paid a total of 3000 Galleons in taxes!"
His voice was so loud that even passersby outside the private room could hear it clearly.
Lucius Malfoy, his face ashen, glared at Arthur fiercely before silently taking his wife and son to sit in the back row near the door.
