Konoha Drunkard

"Tch, what's so great about you? If you hadn't knocked me out and given me a headache, how could I have lost to a little brat like you?" Jiraiya had just finished speaking.
"boom!"
Jiraiya lay down again.
"Ugh, idiot." Orochimaru mocked in a manner reminiscent of Rukawa Kaede.
Tsunade wasn't wrong in her praise; she does possess the bloodline of Hashirama Senju. While her physique isn't as monstrous as Shanks', it's still incredibly powerful within the Senju clan. The fact that Orochimaru and Jiraiya, two commoners, could keep up with her is already quite impressive. Didn't you see Hiroshi Sarutobi standing there dumbfounded? "I should have just asked the Hokage to let me tutor this year's first-year students!"
He originally didn't want to teach this year's first-year students because Tsunade herself is a descendant of Hashirama Senju. Even if she's incredibly talented, people say, "That's the bloodline of the God of Shinobi. Even if my grandmother taught her, she could still succeed."
Some people still say he was lucky to be able to teach Shanks and Sakumo Hatake, both of whom were already famous geniuses.
Unexpectedly, there are two commoners this year who are no less talented than Tsunade. That makes all the difference. If he can train two commoner geniuses, what can anyone say?
Hiroshi Sarutobi stroked his chin, pondering how he could become Tsunade's homeroom teacher.
The fact that the school is headed by the Senju clan elder is easy to resolve, since he was Shanks' former homeroom teacher. He'll definitely agree to him becoming Tsunade's homeroom teacher. The problem is whether teachers from other schools will have any objections.
Shanks is unaware that his lecherous teacher is trying to get transferred to be Tsunade's teacher in the first year.
otherwise,
"Heh, you have no hope. Hiruzen Sarutobi's chosen disciple will graduate after just one year at school. You should just stick to teaching."
..........
After Tsunade and the others were assigned to classes, Shanks and Sakumo Hatake said goodbye to Hiroshi Sarutobi.
Walking down the street, Shanks suddenly remembered that Sakumo Hatake's father had also gone to the Land of the Moon for peace talks with Tobirama Senju. Since the manga didn't specify how many people escaped, Shanks guessed that his father might have died in that ambush.
"I heard you've been taking care of your dad's work lately?" Shanks asked. Since they were both promoted to Jonin, their Hiruzen squad had disbanded. Sakumo Hatake remained in the Anbu, and since his father was accompanying Tobirama Senju to the Land of the Moon, Tobirama had put him in charge of his father's duties.
"Ah, more or less, but there are some things I still need to discuss with Lord Kima, since he's the vice-captain," Hatake Sakumo said nonchalantly.
"It's fine for Brother Kima to lead a team into battle, but asking him to handle intelligence gathering is really asking too much of him," Shanks remarked.
Hatake Sakumo shared the same sentiment. Senju Koma was too honest and simple-minded. He wasn't cut out for intelligence work, but the people Senju Tobirama trusted most and who could maintain order were Hatake Ito and Senju Koma. Sarutobi Hiruzen and the others didn't have that kind of authority yet; they'd have to wait another two years.
Hiruzen Sarutobi was able to secure his position as Hokage thanks to the support of the Senju clan and Mito. Otherwise, who would have paid any attention to a mere member of the Sarutobi clan? The Uchiha and Hyuga clans, in particular, wouldn't have given him a second thought.
29. Tobirama Senju has passed away. (Requesting flowers and adding to favorites)
In February of Konoha Year 14, the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, along with the Hatake clan leader Itō Hatake and his six disciples, led a group of Senju clan members to negotiate peace with Kumogakure in the Land of the Moon. Midway through the meeting, they were ambushed by a group of Kumogakure ninja led by Kinkaku and Ginkaku. The Second Raikage was killed while protecting the Konoha people during their retreat. Kinkaku and Ginkaku, wielding their Six Paths tools, pursued the Konoha group relentlessly. To cover the retreat of the Konoha members, Hatake clan leader Itō was killed by Ginkaku wielding the Seven Star Sword.
Tobirama Senju led his men in a breakout attempt, but they were eventually overtaken by Kinkaku and his subordinates. After a fierce battle, all of Tobirama's clansmen perished. Tobirama left behind a test for his six disciples. Due to Danzo Shimura's objections, Hiruzen Sarutobi volunteered without hesitation, and Tobirama appointed him as the Third Hokage. To protect the young talents of Konoha, Tobirama decided to stay behind alone to cover their retreat.
After a fierce battle, Tobirama Senju successfully killed Kinkaku using the Flying Thunder God Technique and the Sixth Sense he developed from Shanks. However, he was also seriously injured and was killed by Ginkaku who arrived later. Ginkaku was then killed by the Third Raikage, Yotsuki Mochi.
When this information came out, everyone was shocked! In World War I, all the Kage of every village perished. If we include Hashirama Senju, Konoha lost two Kage in two years!
However, at this point, no village was capable of waging war anymore; they were all licking their wounds behind closed doors.
For Tsunade, this is the saddest time of her life. She locks herself in her room, neither crying nor making a fuss, staring blankly at the paintings her great-uncle taught her to draw, and the dice she used to play with her grandfather. Tsunade has never hated this world so much.
A door couldn't stop Shanks. He saw Tsunade sitting on the bed with her knees drawn up to her chest, staring blankly at an abstract painting and three dice in front of her.
Shanks walked over and sat down next to Tsunade. "Tsunade, I was very sad when my uncle died. I stayed at the Hokage Rock every day. Later, my second uncle told me, 'Those who are alive should try harder to live for those who have died.' Your great-grandfather and great-grandfather don't want to see you so depressed every day. They hope you can live well and try harder to live for them." After Shanks finished speaking, he patted Tsunade on the shoulder and left.
Shanks believed that Tsunade would definitely recover; he just didn't want her to keep these emotions bottled up inside.
Konoha is very busy right now, and many clans are busy too. The Second Hokage is dead, and the head of the Hatake clan is dead. The Senju clan members are also busy, and even if Kinkaku and Ginkaku are killed in the end, the Senju clan elders still need an explanation from Kumogakure.
The explanation given by Nozomi Yotsuki, the third Hokage of Kumogakure, was quite domineering: he wiped out all the high-ranking families who participated in the coup.
Konoha had nothing to say. The Third Raikage would also fulfill the terms agreed upon by the Second Raikage and the Second Hokage. Now, all that was left was for Hiruzen Sarutobi to take over and for the Third Raikage to sign the agreement. Then, World War I could truly end.
This war had an even greater impact than the wars of the Warring States period. After all, all five Kage from the five major ninja villages perished.
However, Hiruzen Sarutobi is having a hard time now. He never expected his teacher to make him Hokage. When he offered to cover the rear, he didn't think much about it. He just didn't want his teacher and teammates to die somewhere.
Who knew that Tobirama Senju would pull this stunt? After they returned to Konoha and conveyed Tobirama Senju's will, no one mentioned the Hokage position at all.
Currently, only the Sarutobi clan supports him, and of course, his former teammates from Hiruzen's squad also support him.
However... it's useless. Shanks can only represent himself, not even Mito. The importance of this matter is that Mito represents the Senju clan.
He can't represent the Uzumaki clan either, after all, he's just the son of the mistress... The clan leader of the Uzumaki clan is his uncle!
As for Sakumo Hatake, very well! He can represent the Hatake clan, but the Hatake clan only gets one vote at clan meetings, so it's useless.
Hiruzen Sarutobi felt his smoking addiction was getting worse.
"Uncle Hokage, don't worry, I'll take care of everything! Calm down!" Shanks was really afraid that Hiruzen Sarutobi would smoke himself to death as the smoke around him grew thicker and thicker.
"Hey! Tell me, what ideas do you have?" Hiruzen Sarutobi looked at Shanks and saw that he seemed confident, so he figured he might actually have some clever ideas.
"That's easy. Don't go looking for my aunt now. Wait until things calm down after my second uncle's matter. Anyway, the Senju clan is the least of our worries. The only Senju member qualified to be Hokage is Brother Koma. But my aunt said my second uncle has already discussed it with her."
"Koma-nii isn't cut out to be Hokage!" Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded in agreement. To put it nicely, Senju Koma was honest and simple; to put it bluntly, he was a blockhead. Being Hokage required playing politics!
"And then?" Hiruzen Sarutobi thought the kid's words made some sense.
"And then? Go and take Tsunade as your disciple, and also take two commoners as your disciples. That will greatly improve your image among the commoners in the village. You know, commoners have a lot of influence too."
"Yeah, how come I didn't think of that!" Hiruzen Sarutobi exclaimed, slapping his thigh. Taking Tsunade as a disciple was tantamount to binding the Senju clan to him. And if he took two commoner disciples along the way, in the villagers' eyes, he, the Hokage, would treat commoners the same as his own clan. As for the two talented disciples, that was even easier; wasn't this kid's former homeroom teacher a school teacher?
"Including my Sarutobi family, we already have four pieces. So what?"
"Then it's even simpler. All you have to do is bribe the Nara family and say that from now on, the Nara clan leader will be Konoha's strategist. No one will object, unless Konoha has someone from the Azabu clan." Shanks shrugged.
"I didn't expect you to have so many clever ideas. What are you planning to do by being so eager to give me suggestions?" Hiruzen Sarutobi finally realized!
"It's nothing. You know I promised Uncle Hashirama I'd take good care of the village. If those clans make a mess of the village, it wouldn't be good if Uncle came to talk to me about ideals at night, right?" Shanks said nonchalantly.
"...It's that simple?" Hiruzen Sarutobi was somewhat skeptical.
"You politicians just think everyone is as complicated as you are!" Shanks mocked.
"If my second uncle had chosen Brother Jing instead of you, I would have run away from the village and become a traitor immediately," Shanks continued.
"Ah! Kagami is too easygoing and can't control the Uchiha clan. The teacher knows this, so he didn't choose him." Hiruzen Sarutobi didn't care about Shanks' previous words.
"Alright, I've thought of everything I can for you. The rest is up to you, Uncle Hokage!" Shanks said, then disappeared with a "bang" above Tobirama Senju's head.
Hiruzen Sarutobi gazed intently at Konoha below. Shanks' words were easy to make, but putting them into practice was far more difficult. As for the Senju clan, just as Shanks had said, there was no need to worry. He was chosen by Tobirama Senju, and no one in the Senju clan dared to object, especially since Mito was still alive.
The Hatake and Sarutobi clans are the original ticket holders.
The two commoner disciples are fine, the problem lies with the Ino-Shika-Cho trio. They are not particularly familiar with these three families, and the Nara family are all intelligent people.
Hiruzen Sarutobi's greatest hatred in life is talking to intelligent people, because they can't keep a secret from him. So the key is figuring out how to get information out of the Nara clan.
Aburame, Inuzuka and Uchiha, Hyuga, Kurama, Shimura and some other small families.
The smaller clans are alright; they all follow the Senju clan. Kurama is similar. The most troublesome ones right now are the Uchiha, Hyuga, and Shimura.
Hiruzen Sarutobi recently felt that Danzo no longer loved him. The day after he returned, he went to the Shimura clan. Hiruzen felt that he and Danzo were childhood friends and that he should support him at this time, but he received an ambiguous answer instead.
Hiruzen Sarutobi expressed his sadness that his childhood best friend was not as good as a teammate he had spent less than a year with.
The decision of whether to switch dorms depends on Koharu's attitude, but seeing the loving look in Koharu's eyes when she looks at Kagami, Hiruzen Sarutobi felt it would be better to persuade Hyuga instead.
"Am I really not as handsome as Jing Shuai? I'm almost a child, and I still want to ruin other people's lives."
Hiruzen Sarutobi looked down at Konoha and took a deep breath, his eyes hardening. "I must fulfill the promise my teacher made before he died."
.......
White cloths were hung everywhere in Konoha Village; today was the day of the burial of the Second Hokage, Hatake Ito, and those members of the Senju clan killed by Kinkaku and Ginkaku. School was closed for the day, and the entire village came to pay their respects to their heroes of Konoha.
In the crowd, Shanks led Tsunade, whose eyes were swollen from crying, walking slowly. Sakumo Hatake, wearing a white cloth over his head, stood silently before Ito Hatake's coffin.
Shanks walked over and patted him on the shoulder.
"I'm fine! My father is a hero, and I'm proud of him," Sakumo Hatake said, sounding somewhat downcast.
"You are the White Fang of Konoha, and your father is proud of you!" Shanks didn't know how to comfort Sakumo, after all, Sakumo knew more than him.
30. Matt Day is really difficult (1) "Please give flowers", "Please add to favorites"
In the cemetery, the soon-to-be Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, began a long, rambling speech praising Tobirama Senju and Itō Hatake. After more than an hour of this, he delivered a statement saying, "I love Konoha, and Konoha loves me," before the burial began.
After the burial, Sakumo Hatake stood before his father's grave for a long time, lost in thought. As Shanks was about to leave, he saw a handsome man quietly contemplating life under a large tree.
"Your name is Orochimaru, right? Tsunade's classmate," Shanks asked as he approached Orochimaru.
"Well, it's Orochimaru. Lord Shanks." Orochimaru was always so polite.
“Just call me Shanks. I’m not much older than you. I saw you contemplating life just now?” Shanks said.
"I'm just thinking about a question. Lord Shanks, do you think everyone has to die?" Orochimaru looked at Shanks with some confusion.
"Call me Shanks. I can't answer that question, because even I haven't thought about it," Shanks said, looking at Orochimaru with some surprise. "Wasn't it said that Orochimaru only started thinking about this question after his parents died?"
"Alright, Lord Shanks, I'll take my leave now." Orochimaru said, turning and leaving without a trace...
"I told you, just call me Shanks!" Shanks waved his hand.
......
A few days after Tobirama Senju's burial, Konoha was in turmoil. Just the previous night, Danzo had found Hiruzen Sarutobi, and the two spent the entire night together. It's unclear what kind of shady deal Danzo and Hiruzen made, but the next day, the Shimura clan began supporting Hiruzen. Later, Hiruzen met with Kagami Uchiha, and it's not just them who had some kind of deal; the Uchiha clan also supported him. Therefore, Hiruzen's position as Hokage was practically secure. The Uchiha and Senju clans supported him, along with the Ino-Shika-Cho trio, the Hatake clan, the Shimura clan, and other families. Even the Hyuga clan followed suit.
.........
In the Hokage Building of Konoha, Hiruzen Sarutobi, dressed in the Hokage robes, stood atop the building, looking down at a group of Konoha ninja and villagers. He spoke at length about the policies that would be implemented in Konoha from then on, and delivered a moving speech that ignited the passion of the ninja and villagers below. From that moment on, the era of Hiruzen Sarutobi began in Konoha.
After Hiruzen Sarutobi became Hokage, he promoted Kima Senju to head of the Anbu and Sakumo Hatake to captain of the Anbu operations team. The position of vice-head was abolished. This meant that Sakumo would be appointed head in a few years once he had matured. Currently, Kima Senju only held the title; Sakumo was responsible for the Anbu's daily operations. He wasn't promoted now because some people would bring up his age.
Shanks remained obediently a regular Jonin, accepting an A-rank mission at the beginning of each month and then training in Haki, swordsmanship, and researching the Flying Thunder God Technique in the village. He had made sufficient progress in both types of Haki and his swordsmanship was also quite good. However, the Flying Thunder God Technique frustrated him. He was certain that he had a spatial attribute talent, but perhaps his talent points were not high enough, so he was stuck at the stage of sensing space and could not move forward.
"Lord Shanks." Shanks was walking down the streets of Konoha, heading to Konoha Hospital to pick up Haruko from get off work. A green figure ran towards Shanks.
"Dai, just call me Shanks, no need to call me 'sir'." Shanks said helplessly. Ever since he and Sakumo Hatake defeated Shamon, many people have called him 'sir' when they see him. At first, it was quite nice, but after hearing it so many times, he realized that it didn't seem to fit his persona.
"Haha! Actually, I'm not used to it either, but that's what everyone calls me," Maite Day said with a silly grin.
"What do you need?" Shanks only then noticed that Dai was also wearing a ninja headband.
"Haha, it's like this. Because I can't cultivate chakra, I can only focus on taijutsu, which is quite expensive. Our team is currently doing some D-rank missions, so I wanted to ask you for a favor. You're a Jonin, so you should be able to take on B-rank missions. Don't worry, I can do it myself. I'm very strong," Might Guy explained.
After listening to Might Guy's account of Shanks, it dawned on me that Might Guy had no chakra and remained a genin his entire life, looked down upon for over a decade. If it weren't for his final act of opening the Seven Gates and kicking the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, leaving everyone stunned, his son would likely have remained a genin forever. Back then, Guy could at least take C-rank missions, enough to support himself and his son. Now, he's only recently graduated from academy, and his father is just a commoner, not wealthy. Especially since he's currently growing and needs a lot of food. Otherwise, he wouldn't even be able to run a lap around Konoha.
“Alright, let’s go to the mission room.” It’s a small matter, and Shanks has no reason not to help.
