"Is it some kind of honey?" Helen guessed.

"It's animal fat, lard."

The doorbell rang, and Helen turned to open the door.

Gwen has arrived.

When Gwen entered the room and saw that Li Qun had taken off his shoes, she also put on slippers.

Peter and Harry arrived shortly after, followed by John Wick and Wade. Everyone changed into slippers and moved around the house.

Wade, carrying his mixed-breed pug, followed John to the dining table. Wade saw Peter, Gwen, and Harry eating something with strange expressions.

"What are you tasting? Let me have some too?" Wade asked.

"It's chicken feet."

John Wick casually uttered the answer; he recognized it at a glance—he had eaten it before when he was on a business trip in Southeast Asia.

"It's just chicken feet."

Chapter 113 Cold Jellyfish Salad

"Hello, Harry, I didn't expect to see you here!"

"Quick, say hello to Harry!"

Wade held up the little pug and shook his paws at Harry Osborne twice, and the little pug stuck out its tongue and licked its lips.

"What's its name?"

Helen came to Wade's side, her eyes completely drawn to Wade's ugly little dog.

"Its name is Mary Pabins, isn't that a very formal name?"

"You can also call her Peggy."

"It's a little girl!"

“It’s both ugly and cute, can I touch it?” Helen asked.

"Peggy, can you let the mistress touch you? Oh, sure!"

"It says yes!"

Helen scratched the little pug's head and then its chin.

Wade's little dog had a silly air about it, didn't bark, and just panted with its mouth half open, wearing a pet-style hooded outfit.

"Harry, how did you and Wade meet?"

John Wick asked in a low voice next to Harry.

“That’s not easy to explain…” Harry smiled awkwardly.

Wade, with his keen ears, glanced at Harry and John Wick, then moved over to John Wick's side with the puppy in his arms, and whispered in John's ear, "This kid suspects his dad is having an affair."

John Wick glanced at Wade, who was grinning mischievously, then at Harry, who had an awkward smile, and raised an eyebrow.

"So, what were the findings of the investigation?" John Wick asked Wade in a low voice.

“His dad is just a workaholic, he doesn’t have time for affairs,” Wade said.

“No, John, I don’t suspect my father of having an affair…” Harry felt he had to clarify something.

“My father hasn’t been home for a long time, and I’m just a little worried that he has started a new family with someone else.”

John Wick nodded to Harry. "I understand."

John Wick patted Harry on the shoulder and said, "Your father loves you very much; you're his only son."

"Kid, why are these chicken feet boneless? Are chicken feet even chicken feet if they don't have bones?" Wade teased Li Qun as he approached him.

"People are more likely to be able to eat chicken feet without bones."

“I’m also afraid of chicken feet that are perfectly shaped,” Li Qun said.

"You're scared just like that..."

"John, what comes to mind when you look at this?" Wade asked John Wick with a smile.

"Let's not talk about this."

“I won’t let you indulge your urge to vent,” John Wick said to Wade.

"What did Wade think of?" Helen asked innocently and curiously.

“It might be cold jellyfish salad,” John Wick said, glancing at Wade with concern.

Wade shouldn't have taken on so many bad jobs in the past; he's seen too many crazy things while carrying out assassination missions.

Wade Wilson, who retired from the world of assassins long ago, always had a hint of madness beneath his calm exterior.

“A little bug, the same color as a chicken foot, with a wrinkled body,” Wade whispered in Li Qun’s ear.

"Wade, have you ever eaten bamboo worms? They look just like the ones you described. They're delicious when fried, fragrant and crispy," Li Qun whispered to Wade.

“This is not funny at all,” Wade said.

"I have to keep an eye on this little guy, so I can only watch you eat."

Wade teased the puppy he was holding for a moment, then walked over to Peter and snuggled the little pug against him.

"Peter, Peter, do you like puppies?"

Peter was bewildered by Wade, feeling like Wade was about to throw his puppy at him to hold.

"Peggy, people hate you."

“I didn’t, I didn’t…” Peter waved his hands repeatedly.

Gwen was chopping vegetables with a cleaver, mincing tomatoes, green peppers, and bell peppers into small pieces. Wade didn't approach Gwen.

“We need to get away, or your dog hair will fall in,” Wade said to his dog.

"Let's make dinner tonight."

John Wick rolled up his sleeves, washed his hands, tied on an apron, and struck a pose befitting a chef.

"I have to take a picture."

Wade held the puppy in one hand and took a picture of John Wick with his phone in the other.

"John Wick's cooking, sold to the Duke of the High Table for $18888," Wade captioned the photo he took.

John pulled a kitchen knife from the knife rack and started sharpening it while watching Wade, who slowly stuffed his phone back into his pocket.

John Wick peeled the potatoes with a knife, cut them into chunks, and cooked them in a pot of stock. He planned to make some mashed potatoes.

Harry poured the ground beef he had bought onto the cutting board, picked up a knife and chopped it again, adding a little salt and black pepper to taste.

"Gwen, I'm starting!"

Harry heated a skillet over low heat, then added olive oil and sautéed minced garlic. The aroma of garlic began to fill the kitchen, and Harry then added the ground beef to the skillet.

"This is a thickening sauce; it's made by mixing cornstarch with water until smooth. We'll pour it in when we're simmering it later," Li Qun said to Harry.

What role does it play?

"It's hard to describe, but you'll understand when you see it," Li Qun replied.

Harry excitedly worked on the pan. When the ground beef was almost cooked, he poured all the diced tomatoes, green peppers, and bell peppers that Gwen had chopped into the pan and continued to stir-fry. The tomatoes released water in the pan, and Liqun reminded Harry. Harry then poured the cornstarch slurry into the pan.

Cover and simmer over medium-low heat.

"Is that about right?"

After simmering for about three minutes, what appeared before them was a pot of something similar to spaghetti tomato meat sauce, but with a completely different flavor.

"Wait a moment." John Wick took out his cooked potato chunks, mashed them with milk, and then covered them with the meat sauce Harry had made.

"Let me try it!"

Helen took a bite with a spoon from the plate and found it tasted exceptionally good.

The acidity of the tomatoes, the saltiness of the ground beef, the spiciness and sweetness provided by the green and bell peppers, and the lingering aftertaste of the mashed potatoes left Helen with a lingering sense of satisfaction.

“This meat sauce is the best accompaniment to staple foods,” Li Qun said.

“I completely agree.” Helen gave a thumbs up.

“You picked some great tomatoes, Harry. Where did you buy them?” Gwen asked.

“I took it from the kitchen at home; I don’t know exactly where I bought it,” Harry replied.

"You can use canned tomatoes with fresh tomatoes; the taste won't be bad either," Li Qun said.

“Have you noticed that the tomatoes you buy in the supermarket are all hard, and so are some other fruits?” Peter said.

"To facilitate transportation, the varieties of tomatoes and some fruits grown on a large scale have been changed, sacrificing taste in exchange for long-term storage," Li Qun explained.

"This is terrible. I remember eating tomatoes of this quality when I was a child."

“Capitalism is bad!” Wade said to his dog.

"Woof woof?" The puppy had no idea what Wade Wilson was talking about.

Chapter 114 The Woman Sings, the Man Dies

"belch!"

Wade let out a super long burp to announce the end of dinner.

"I'm the hiccup champion!"

Helen kept laughing, and it felt like Wade was constantly trying to make her laugh.

Wade was the strangest person she had ever met, and she didn't know how a serious man like John Wick could have met Wade and become good friends with him.

"I can't wait to watch a sweet little movie with my dear John."

"Hold Peggy!"

"And I want to hold you."
