America: A Prodigy of Stereotypes

Peter and Li Qun exchanged a glance. Peter reflexively assumed that the police had come to the school because of what happened last night.
Li Qun and Peter followed Vice Principal George to the Vice Principal's office.
"Let's sit down and talk. There's a lot to discuss."
Li Qun and Peter sat down at the desk, and old George took out several documents and handed them to Li Qun and Peter.
"You are ranked first and second among all 12th grade students in the school."
“I’ve been keeping an eye on your college applications, but I’ve noticed that you seem to only know about Regular Decision (RD) and not about Early Decision (ED) and Early Action (EA).
"Although the first round of early applications for top universities has already ended, you can still make it to the second round."
"The deadline for the second round of applications is in January next year, which is the same as the regular application period," Old George told Li Qun and Peter.
"Vice Principal, so that's what it is."
Li Qun gave Peter a look, reassuring him that Old George wasn't there to discuss last night's events.
Some say that the first step to truly understanding society is calling the police. Li Qun thinks there's some truth to that, and Peter did just that last night.
"If you're considering Queen's College or Macaulay Honors College, you'll know the results by mid-December," old George said, making a suggestive remark.
Liqun nodded.
At home, Uncle and Aunt were also seriously discussing college applications with Liqun. His cousin Shuangxi was in eleventh grade this year and would also be facing college applications next year. Liqun was leading the way to help Shuangxi explore the options.
Queens College and Macquarie Honors College are the highest expectations my aunt has for my cousin Shuangxi. Both colleges are popular choices for local students, and 70% of the students admitted to these two colleges come from Queens.
“Peter and I both want to go to Columbia University,” Li Qun said.
"That confirms the only university you've chosen through Early Decision." The vice-chancellor wrote it down in his notebook.
"Are you planning to register for the ACT (American College Testing) exam?" Old George asked again.
"Isn't it enough to just take the SAT?" Li Qun didn't understand.
"It is on par with the SAT, an alternative to the SAT, and the test date is exactly opposite to the SAT. It is prepared for students who do not perform well on the SAT," the vice principal explained.
"I know you guys have been having a blast these past two months since the start of the semester, and you almost forgot about preparing for your college applications and even forgot to register for the SATs in October and November."
When the vice principal called on them, Li Qun and Peter lowered their heads.
"I look forward to your SAT scores. I feel that your scores should be above 1400."
“I have internal statistics. This year, the number of students taking the SAT is around 1.3 million. In previous years, the average score of students was around 1020. Last year, more than 500 students got a perfect score.”
“Mr. Principal, a score of 1400 represents 1% of the total SAT scores in previous years,” Peter finally said.
“You two are in the top 1% of students in our school, so your scores will also put you in the top 1% on the SAT.” Old George looked at Li Qun and Peter with confidence in his eyes.
“Peter, you are number one,” said George, the vice principal, to Peter.
"Me? What? Me?"
"I'm number one?"
Peter Parker stared incredulously at the vice principal, then glanced at Li Qun with a shifty look in his eyes.
"In the official transcripts sent to the universities you are applying to, your overall grade is higher than that of Lyon."
"The reason is that Lyon only transferred here last year," old George explained to Peter.
“Lyon, you don’t mind if I reveal some of your personal information, do you?” Old George looked at Li Qun.
“You can tell Peter.”
“Tell me what?” Peter asked, puzzled.
Before transferring to Midtown High School, Lyon's grades were only average to above average at his previous school.
"It's hard to imagine that someone's academic performance could undergo such a dramatic change..."
Old George remarked something in front of the two students.
For an ordinary person, experiencing a tragic accident like Li Qun's, where their family was destroyed and they lost everything, would naturally lead to a sharp decline in their academic performance.
"I said something I shouldn't have again." Old George covered his face, his old-fashioned sentimentality suddenly kicking in.
"Prepare well. Even though Thanksgiving is only a four-day holiday, don't go overboard."
"When I get back from the Thanksgiving holiday, I'll help you sort out all these troublesome things about college admissions."
"Thank you so much!"
Li Qun stood up, and Peter quickly followed suit. Li Qun bowed in thanks, and Peter bowed in return.
It's impossible for Li Qun to accept being helped by a person in their seventies to handle troublesome matters without feeling at ease.
"That's all I can help with," said Vice Principal George with a smile.
Peter and Li Qun walked out of the vice principal's office.
Unbeknownst to them, the college application process for the top five students in 12th grade each year is handled by Vice Principal George, and the standard application process that college counselors go through is a necessary procedure that every student must go through.
"You've finally come out."
Outside the school building, Harry and Gwen were waiting for Stephanie, Peter, and Lillian. The fact that all three of them had been called away at the same time made Harry and Gwen a little worried.
“We’re also talking about getting into college,” Liqun explained to Gwen and Harry.
"...What? That old vice-principal is going to personally help you organize and mail your application materials and contact the university admissions office? Don't tire him out," Harry said in shock.
"Do you know who has the best grades in school?" Li Qun asked with a smile.
Harry and Gwen smiled when they saw the smile on Li Qun's face. Wasn't that a rhetorical question?
“It’s you, isn’t it?” Harry said with a smile.
"No, no, it's Peter."
"Our Queens champion, Peter Parker!!"
Li Qun hugged Peter tightly, and Peter looked somewhat shy.
Chapter 215 If my ex-wife's nickname was Widow...
Become Spider-Man, or get into Columbia University...?
In Li Qun's eyes, there was no choice between these two options; he could only choose to enroll at Columbia University.
If Liqun hesitates for even a second, it would be letting down its Aurora heritage.
Peter's choice was to have both.
Peter Parker wants to become the Spider-Man who gets into Columbia University.
With Thanksgiving just days away, Liqun may not celebrate Thanksgiving, but the Thanksgiving atmosphere is spreading throughout New York City.
Crime rates in New York City show a clear correlation with holidays. Areas with worse crime rates tend to see an increase in crime rates before and after holidays, while areas with better crime rates show a clear decrease.
Despite such significant fluctuations in crime rates, the New York City Police Department precincts have simply increased police presence in safer areas while reducing it in less safer areas.
Make the good better and the bad worse.
……
In the afternoon, Wade returned to his apartment, and his face turned grim as he stood at the door of his room.
"My door."
Wade's apartment door was forcibly broken into; the lock was half-hanging on the door, and the old door frame was cracked.
Wade gently pushed open the apartment door. The hinges were working properly, preventing the door from tipping over when he opened it.
"Damn it," Wade cursed.
The room was a mess, and all his belongings were scattered everywhere.
Wade searched for a place to stand in the room, picking up items along the way and carrying them in his arms as he made his way to the bedroom.
As Wade picked up more and more things, he realized that the items he valued hadn't been taken by the intruder, and it seemed that nothing was missing. So Wade simply threw the things he was holding back onto the floor.
"Don't let me find out who did it."
Wade felt a surge of relief; thankfully, his puppy was with John, otherwise, who knows what terrible things might have happened if the puppy had been at home.
Wade stood in his bedroom and saw that his 20-centimeter-thick mattress had been ripped open with a knife, and the metal springs inside had popped out.
"Hold!!"
I confirmed that none of my belongings were missing, but the mattress was damaged.
Wade treated his bed like a lover, spending eight or nine hours together every day. Since his divorce from Natasha, Wade slept in his own bed every day. He had brought the mattress with him when he lived with Natasha, and when they divorced, he asked Natasha who the mattress should go with. Natasha reluctantly awarded the mattress to him.
It's gone. Who killed the mattress now?!
"A blood debt must be repaid with blood..."
Wade's tone was calm, and his face lacked its usual rich expression.
Wade rummaged through his toolbox and squatted down by the door to fix the apartment door.
The door lock was also broken, so Wade made a temporary lock out of things in the house, with the added feature of exploding when the door was opened.
After setting up the explosive door, Wade left his rented apartment building to find someone and ask who had come to his house and murdered his mattress.
Standing on the street, Wade thought for a moment.
Could this have been done by Gwen's father, Officer George?
Wade shook his head.
Intuitively, Wade felt it couldn't have been Officer George Stacy who did it.
George Stacy wanted to tidy herself up; she didn't need to go to his house to do this kind of thing.
So who did it?
Only someone who knows themselves well would do something like this.
Wade narrowed his eyes; he seemed to have guessed who it was.
Wade walked toward the "Next Life" bar.
It's a bit far, but that doesn't matter. When he gets to "Laisheng," it will be dinner time, and he can have a unique dinner set meal at the Laisheng Bar.
