As is customary for tourists, Mosen first strolled around the shopping street near the pier, buying some souvenirs characteristic of Water Seven, such as exquisite postcards depicting the sea train and fountains, local glass crafts, and a box of "water meat" that is said to have a unique flavor.
It wasn't until nearly noon that he entered a small, clean-looking restaurant with quite a few customers, intending to have lunch there and also inquire about some information.
The restaurant is small but has a warm atmosphere, with wooden tables and chairs that are polished to a shine.
Mosen sat down on a high stool at the bar and ordered a signature seafood risotto and a locally brewed light beer.
While waiting for his food to be served, he sipped his beer and casually struck up a conversation with the owner, who was wiping glasses behind the bar.
"Boss, this place truly lives up to its reputation. The architecture is very unique, and the sea train is one of a kind in the world." Mo Sen chatted casually, starting the conversation with the kind of things locals love to hear.
The owner, a kind middle-aged man, listened to Mosen's words and smiled proudly, "Of course, the sea train is only available in Water Seven. This is the first time you've been here."
“Yes, just passing through for a few days.” Mosen nodded, then naturally got to the point: “By the way, boss, I’ve heard that there are many shipbuilding companies in Water Seven. I wonder if you know which shipyard in this city has the best craftsmanship?”
Upon hearing this, the boss stopped wiping the cups and smiled, "If we're talking about the best shipbuilding in Water Seven, it has to be Carrera Company!"
"Our mayor, Mr. Iceberg, is the president of that company. His technology and management are top-notch, and the quality of the ships built by them is absolutely superb!"
He then gestured with his chin toward the other side of the bar and said, "And coincidentally, that man over there is the boatswain from Carrera. You can ask him directly for more details."
Mosen turned his head in the direction the boss indicated.
On the other side of the bar, a few seats away, sat a young man.
He was wearing a dark work hat, under which was a slightly thin young face.
What is most striking is his long, square nose with distinct angles.
He was holding a beer, seemingly enjoying a moment of leisure at midday.
Seemingly noticing Mosen and the boss's gaze, the square-nosed young boatman turned around, revealing a slightly shy but friendly smile. He nodded to the boss and then looked at Mosen curiously.
Chapter 27, Shipwright Kaku, Custom Orders
[In the first half of the Grand Line, on a pirate ship flying the skull and crossbones flag, one pirate after another was beaten black and blue and knelt in a neat row on the deck.]
Two slender arms inexplicably grew from the backs of each of them, firmly binding their hands.
At the very front, the woman in the antique shop was sitting on a wooden tub, holding a newspaper, her beautiful eyes wide open.
She also had a record pointer on her wrist, with the word "Alabasta" written below it in small print.
"My name is Kaku, and I'm a shipwright with Carrera. Does this gentleman have any business related to ships that he needs to discuss?"
"If it's just boat repairs, maintenance, or a simple condition check, I can take a look for you on my way."
Mosen's gaze lingered on that iconic square nose for a moment, and memories in his mind quickly surged and combined.
With a square, long nose, Kaku... He's one of the members of CP9, now working as a shipwright in the Carrera Corporation.
Mosen never expected that he would run into a World Government agent while casually asking for information at a restaurant.
Despite the turmoil in his mind, Mosen showed no sign of distress on his face. He simply gave a perfectly timed smile and explained, "Hello, Mr. Kaku, my name is Mosen."
"Repairs aren't needed for now, because I'm just starting to order my own boat."
"Oh? Customize a ship?" Kaku's eyes seemed to light up. "That's a big deal!"
"Don't worry, our Carrera Company's craftsmanship is absolutely the best in Water Seven!"
"If you're not in a hurry, I can take you to the company to ask Mr. Iceberg after we finish eating."
“That’s wonderful, thank you so much, Mr. Kaku.” Mosen thanked him sincerely, “I’ll treat you to this meal as a token of my gratitude for your introduction.”
This agent is quite nice; has he perfectly integrated into his persona?
Kaku, unaware of Mosen's thoughts, simply scratched his head sheepishly: "I couldn't possibly accept that; I was just passing by and delivering a message."
"Of course, consider it making friends," Mo Sen said with a smile.
Perhaps to reciprocate Mosen’s generosity, Kaku became unusually talkative on the way to Carrera.
Not only did he take the initiative to introduce Morsen to the local customs and historical changes of the Seven Waters City, but he also talked in detail about the changes brought about by the sea train, his tone full of understanding and love for the city.
He even pointed to some distinctive buildings, explaining their ingenious design and their relationship with the waterways, behaving like an excellent tour guide who was proud of his hometown.
Mosen listened with great interest, nodding occasionally in agreement, and asked several questions about shipbuilding technical details, which Kaku answered fluently, demonstrating solid professional knowledge and clear logic.
Mosen even "casually" asked a few questions about Kaku's personal experiences and how he became a boatman during the conversation, and Kaku's answers were watertight.
She recounted her inspiring story of how she was captivated by Mr. Tom's greatness, how she diligently studied shipbuilding technology, and how she eventually joined the Carrera Company, her words filled with a sincere love for the shipbuilding industry.
"This guy... no wonder he's a professional agent, his disguise is truly ingrained." Mo Sen listened while secretly admiring him.
If he hadn't known Kaku's true identity beforehand, judging solely from Kaku's enthusiastic and professional demeanor, as well as his work ethic and helpful nature, he would have definitely considered him a promising and outstanding example of a shipwright.
This level of acting skill and immersion in the role would definitely make him an award-winning actor in the world before Mo Sen traveled through time.
Along the way, one was performing earnestly, and the other was watching intently; it was quite amusing.
A moment later, Kaku led Mosen to the area where the Carrera Company was located, a large-scale shipyard complex.
As Kaku led Mosen to the door, a blonde woman wearing glasses and a business suit, with a capable demeanor and a serious expression, strode out from inside.
"Kalifa!" Kaku called out to her as soon as he saw her.
Kalifa stopped when she heard the sound, pushed up her glasses, and glanced at Kaku before fixing her gaze on Morsen with a calm yet businesslike scrutiny.
“Kalifa, this is Mr. Morsen, who wants to consult with Mr. Iceberg about custom ship business,” Kaku introduced.
Kalifa's expression remained unchanged after hearing this, and she simply said in her characteristically cold voice, "Mr. Iceberg has a very full schedule; he has a municipal meeting this afternoon."
"For general shipbuilding business consultations, you can go directly to the foreman on duty at dock number one or two, and they can handle it."
After saying that, she glanced at Kaku with a hint of dissatisfaction, her eyes conveying a clear message: You know how busy the president is, why did you bring someone directly to the office building for this kind of consultation? And you even said you wanted to see the president?
Kaku scratched his head sheepishly when Kalifa looked at him like that; he had indeed been negligent.
Although he had been pretending, he had indeed had a very congenial conversation with Morsen, which made him subconsciously regard Morsen as an "important client" who might place a large order, which is why he brought him along.
Now that Kalifa had reminded him, he realized he had been somewhat rash.
Seeing this, Kalifa was about to leave, and Kaku was also preparing to apologize to Mosen and then take him to the shipyard to find the foreman.
Just then, Mosen suddenly spoke up: "What I want to order is a ship made from the Adam Tree."
Kalifa paused slightly as she adjusted her glasses, her gaze behind the lenses suddenly sharpening.
Kaku also showed obvious surprise and turned to look at Morsen.
Adam Wood is a legendary type of wood. Just who is this young man? How dare he ask to use Adam Wood to build a ship?
Kalifa's professionalism allowed her to quickly compose herself, but her tone became noticeably more cautious: "Adam the Tree? Are you sure?"
“Of course, I need a top-of-the-line ship.” Mosen nodded, meeting her gaze.
This is another Best Actress award, and a perfect secretary role. Speaking of which, these secret agents are really professional at everything they do, it's just a pity they have such a stupid boss.
“I understand.” Kalifa finally nodded, her attitude much more formal than before: “Mr. Morsen, please wait a moment.”
"I need to check Mr. Iceberg's upcoming schedule first, and see if I can spare a little time. Please rest in the meeting room next door for a moment."
After saying that, she looked at Kaku thoughtfully and said, "Kaku, take Mr. Morsen to the reception room."
"Okay!" Kaku replied immediately as he received the signal.
The person who could casually suggest using the Adam Tree to build a ship was no ordinary person. Next, he would try to subtly gather information about Morsen, which was a basic skill for an agent.
Chapter 28, The Exorbitant Order
After Kalifa left to consult Iceberg, only Morsen and Kaku remained in the reception room.
Kaku naturally struck up a conversation with Morsen again, his tone still warm, but the topic subtly began to shift towards probing.
"Mr. Mo is truly bold; he immediately mentioned Adam Tree."
"I remember the last time this legendary wood was used was on the Pirate King's ship."
Kaku spoke casually, observing Morsen's reaction.
Mosen picked up his water glass, took a sip, and nodded calmly: "Yes, I've always heard that the Adam Tree is the most premium material, which is why I made this request."
"Since I'm going to build a ship that can accompany me on my sea voyages, I naturally want it to be sturdy and reliable enough. The Treasure Tree Adam is a good choice."
Mosen's answer was frank and his goal was clear: he wanted a top-notch ship.
“That’s true. But what industry are you in, Mr. Mo? After all, the materials for the Treasure Tree Adam aren’t cheap.” Kaku asked with just the right amount of curiosity.
“I’m just an adventurous collector,” Mosen said casually, putting down his cup.
"I was lucky before, and I just happened to make a fortune, otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford the Adam Tree."
"By the way, Mr. Kaku, you are a professional shipwright. In your experience, if we use Adam Wood as the main material, how much can the stability and seaworthiness of the ship be improved compared to an ordinary wooden ship of the same size?" Mosen suddenly asked.
“That’s naturally much stronger, but I haven’t dealt with it specifically…” Kaku quickly adjusted his thinking, stopped his analysis, and picked up where Morsen left off.
The conversation then shifted to Mosen occasionally throwing out questions about the ships, which Kaku answered one by one.
Occasionally, he would be stumped by some of Mo Sen's whimsical yet reasonable ideas, and would pause to think for a moment.
The two seemed to be getting along very well, but Kaku had to maintain his shipwright persona and answer fluently, while also being careful not to reveal any insights beyond his shipwright identity. At the same time, he was trying to extract more information from Morsen's words. His CPU was running at high speed and almost overheated.
Fortunately, the chatter didn't last long before Kalifa returned: "Mr. Mo, Mr. Iceberg has a little time now, please come over."
Kaku breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this and quickly stood up: "Then I won't disturb you any longer, Mr. Morsen. I wish you and the president a successful meeting."
“Thank you, Mr. Kaku. It was a pleasure chatting with you; I learned a lot.” Morsen smiled and then, led by Kalifa, headed toward Iceberg’s office.
Iceberg's office is spacious and bright, with views of the azure sea and the cityscape of Water City outside the window.
Behind the large desk in the middle sat a composed middle-aged man with meticulously styled short blue hair. He was none other than Iceberg, the mayor of Water Seven and president of Carrera Corporation.
"Mr. Mosen, please have a seat." Iceberg said softly, looking at the young man who proposed to build a ship using the Adam Tree with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.
After all, the precious tree is priceless, and using it to build a ship would cost an astronomical sum. Does this young man really have that kind of financial resources?
"Mr. Iceberg, I apologize for disturbing you." Mo Sen sat down with a calm smile.
“I heard from Kalifa that you want to customize a ship using the Adam Tree,” Iceberg said bluntly.
"Excuse me for speaking frankly, Mr. Mosen, the price of the Treasure Tree Adam is extremely high, and the channels for obtaining it are extremely rare and difficult."
"Using it to build ships would cost an astonishing amount of money. Are you really sure?"
