Reincarnated As A Chameleon And Eating Everything To Evolve

The white haze started to gather around both of Matthew's hands and it didn't take longer than 5 seconds for the aura gauntlet to form on Matthew's hands.

Matthew wanted to create an aura blade right away, but when he poured out more aura towards his hands, the aura gauntlet just formed more naturally. So he lets his aura form the gauntlet first before taking his time slowly to create the aura hand-blade. 

With his hands covered in a solid aura gauntlet that had its fingers in a fist position, Matthew was forced to rely on his tongue and his legs to stay glued to the tree trunk as he still couldn't make fully functioning fingers on the aura gauntlet due to the complexities of the shape.

But it wasn't a hard task for Matthew since his tongue has plenty of strength and half of Matthew's weight was actually supported by his legs. So he was able to pour his focus on shaping the aura on his hands instead.

'Since I want to cut a tree then should I make an aura saw?'

'No, no, no. Even creating aura claws was hard enough, not to say saws that were made up of small pointy edges on one of its sides. I can maybe try to make them later if I'm already more proficient in doing this aura bending thing.'

'And besides, even the hand-blades were strong enough to cut through the general's steel armor. If I pour more aura into it then a thicker wood branch should be manageable right?'

Slowly guiding and manipulating his aura to go out from his core to his hands while imagining the aura to create the hand-blade shape on his hands, Matthew started to learn and understand more about how to manipulate his aura better to create the solid aura.

'I think I could even make an armor fully made of aura in the future when I was good enough at this and if my aura reserve had grown large enough to supply it for at least a few minutes. Making solid aura to cover my whole body will probably dry my current aura reserve out in only a few seconds…'

The two hand-blades on both of his hands were finally formed and the kids who were looking at him with interest from the start had started to stare at Matthew even more as they saw Matthew using the same ability that he had used to defeat the human general.

'Hmm… Since I will only be using the aura hand-blade on my right hand, maybe I should try to retract the aura on my left hand.'

Feeling the aura running inside his body, Matthew then slowly stopped supplying aura to his left hand and then relocating it towards the aura hand-blade on his right hand.

The aura hand-blade on his left hand started to shorten and after about another 10 seconds, his left hand was only covered by the hazy white aura just like the rest of his body. But in change, the aura hand-blade on his right hand started to become more solid and it glowed significantly brighter than before.

Putting his left hand back to grab onto the tree trunk, Matthew focused his eyes on the target of his aura-hand blade which is a thick tree trunk that was about as long as himself and had a trunk that was as thick as 2 of his hands lined up side by side.

Looking at the mere size of it, doubts started to appear inside Matthew's head whether he could really cut the thick tree trunks with one swift slash.

'Well I won't lose anything if I fail to cut it with one movement, but I have high hopes for this shining aura hand blades' strength and I would be slightly disappointed if it wasn't strong enough to cut through a tree branch.'

"Back up, kids. Getting a concussion and seeing stars above your heads will be the best possible outcome if you were hit by the falling tree branch."

Matthew then took several deep breaths to prepare himself for the possible disappointment that he was about to feel. And after calming himself down, Matthew brought up his right hand directly on top of the base of the tree branch, tightened his tongue grip on the tree trunk, and adjusted the positions of his legs so that he didn't fall. 

And finally, using the muscles on his hɨps, his back, and his arm, Matthew swung down his right hand as strong as possible.

Instead of closing his eyes and hoping for the best to happen, Matthew opened his eyes wide to observe the action carefully just in case there is something that he could improve if he happens to really fail.

However, Matthew didn't get to see how his aura hand-blade had cut the tree trunk.

Matthew had expected to feel the tree branch giving him a powerful resistance or even stopping his aura hand-blade. But the moment his aura hand-blade touched the tree trunk, he felt no resistance whatsoever. Instead of having the feeling of cutting through buŧŧer with a hot knife, Matthew didn't feel anything as if the branch had parted on its own from the tree trunk and created a way for his aura hand-blade to pass through.

'Wow…' Matthew said in his mind

"Wow…" The kids said not in their minds.

The thick tree branch fell down to the soft dirt ground with a loud sound as the smaller branches that stemmed from the thick branch were rubbing against another tree and the bushes on the ground.

Knowing the kids are definitely safe, Matthew didn't even bother to look at the falling tree branch and instead focused on the base of the thick branch, particularly at the part that he had just cut with the aura hand-blade.

Afraid of accidentally cutting the whole tree down, Matthew turned off his wolf aura ability and retracted his aura to go back inside his aura pathway before touching the smooth-looking surface of the tree branch that he had just cut.

His fingers ran through the smooth white part of the tree that had the tree rings on them and Matthew couldn't help but feel awe towards the aura hand-blade as it could cut the thick tree branch so smoothly that it looks as if Matthew had used a laser cutter to do it.

'Even using saws would leave rugged parts here and there… But this…' Matthew thought while still rubbing the smooth surface of the branch with his eyes closed to focus more on his sense of touch.

"Brother Matthew, the branch had already fallen down for quite some time now, what are you doing up there?" The first kobold kid asked him.

The first kobold kid's voice finally woke Matthew up from his tree admiring session and he quickly climbed down from the tree.

Matthew then checked his aura core just to see how many aura he had used in those 30 seconds to use the aura hand-blade.

'It takes quite a significant amount compared to just using the ordinary chameleon or wolf aura ability, but it was still manageable for about 10-15 minutes, I think.'

Matthew made a mental note to himself to remember that 10-15 minutes will be his limit if he were to use the solid aura to fight before returning his focus back on the task at hand, which is to make a water container for him and the kids.

Matthew dragged the thick tree branch away from the bush while simultaneously cutting the smaller branches on the ends of the thick part of the branch using his claws or just simply tearing them apart by pulling on them.

'And now, I still need to cut this two-meter branch in two since the kids won't be able to easily carry them if I kept it at 2 meters long. And it would also make it easier for me to hollow out its inside to store the water. I guess I need to use the solid aura once more.'

'But the aura hand-blade would be too big for this, I need to make something smaller to do more precise cuts.'

Matthew was about to activate the wolf's aura ability once again to use the solid aura technique, but then suddenly an idea came into his mind,

'Do I really need to use the wolf's aura ability first every time I want to make the solid aura? I can somewhat control my aura without the abilities' help since I need to be able to at least have a decent control on my aura to activate the ability in the first place.'

'Let's try it!'

Doing it slowly as if it was his first time learning to use the aura abilities, Matthew connected his consciousness with the aura core and tried to manipulate the aura to flow towards his right hand.

The aura moved just fine when it was still inside his body, but when it was about to go past his flesh, Matthew felt a slight resistance and needed more willpower to send the aura out.

He would certainly fail if it was his first time controlling the aura inside his body, but after using the chameleon's and the wolf's aura ability for quite some time now, Matthew was able to replicate the feelings and movements of his aura when the abilities were activated and he succeeded in making the white hazy aura to cover only his right hand.

Matthew tried crushing the smaller branch that he had cut before using his right hand and the strengthening enhancement from the aura worked just fine even though he didn't use the wolf's aura ability.

'And now, it's time to make the smaller aura blade.'

'If I used my whole hands to make the aura hand-blade, what if I only used one finger just to make one tiny knife?'

Matthew then imagined a small blade made of aura was formed on top of his right index finger and pushed his aura to move according to the image in his mind.

Although with some difficulties and using more willpower than before, Matthew had succeeded in creating a 5cm small knife on the tip of his index finger.
