Hiding in between the thick bushes and the tall trees of the forest, Matthew is currently observing the demihuman village in front of him.

Unlike the kobold village, the walls aren't made out of wood. Instead, it was fully made out of solid earth that stood about 2 and a half meters tall with square holes every few meters at the topside of the wall allowing Matthew to see what is inside the village.

Matthew couldn't see much, but just from the few small holes, he was able to recognize square houses also made out of solid earth with wood as its roof.

'But without a doubt, this place is way bigger than the kobold village.'

The size of the village is at least twice as big compared to the kobold village yet there's still a lot of space left in the forest clearing, enough to fit half of the kobold village.

However, the thing that interests Matthew the most is not the size of the village nor the unique building material that the village used. It was the demihumans that were currently living inside the village.

First of all, they didn't have any fur or animal characteristics on their bodies like the kobolds. Their bodies are covered with skin just like any ordinary human. But there's no way that somebody will mistake them for a human as their skin is green.

Not only that, they were at least 3 meters tall, even taller than the walls that covered their village. Their bodies are also big enough that some of them are even larger than the bears that Matthew had fought before.

Their bellies are so bloated that Matthew dared to bet that it could at least fit 2 and a half deers whole into its stomach. And with a large mouth that had thick and large teeth, at least twice the size of Matthew's own teeth, Matthew didn't doubt that such a feat may actually be possible for them.

Matthew was sure that this is the first time he had met something that looks like this in both of his lifetimes. However, he had seen something similar to the creature in front of him when he was still a human back on earth.

It was neither in the woods nor in a haunted house. Instead, he had seen them on his computer screen. Both in video games or anime, he has seen creatures that look very similar to the creatures in front of his eyes.

'If I remember correctly, they should be called trolls right?'

Just like goblins that are a trademark for fantasy fiction works, trolls, although not as common as goblins, is also one of the most popular monsters that can be found often in many fantasy stories.

Matthew is currently thinking about whether he should just leisurely walk towards the entrance of the village and say hi towards the two troll guards that are standing guard there with two big clubs made of bones and stones.

Although the troll village was quite a long distance away from the kobold village about 5 hours walk from the wolf den, Matthew was sure that sooner or later the humans would also come knocking at their doors.

He had no connection whatsoever with the trolls, but he wouldn't refuse if he was to gain an ally in fighting against the humans.

'They surely don't want to be enslaved by the humans. If they are smart enough then they would understand.'

'But will they even be willing to talk to me? I certainly look different than them. Will they think of me as a beast from the forest? What if they start attacking me the moment they see me?'

'I should keep a safe distance first and make sure that they aren't too powerful for me to handle. And I need to prepare myself to act any second they start showing signs of aggression.'

Hence, he decided to just come forward with both his hands in the air to show that he is not hostile, but he had already connected his mind with his aura core and was ready to use solid aura at any moment if necessary.

His control over solid aura is already as good as using an ordinary aura ability as he could now form a solid aura construct in a second. Solid aura glove for defense or solid aura boots to boost his speed, Matthew can create them whenever he wants to as long as he still has aura left in his aura core.

Although creating aura gauntlets without using the wolf's aura ability is still quite hard for him to do due to the amount of aura that he needed to control, it is now possible as long as he was given enough time to do it.

But still, using the wolf's aura ability to create the solid aura construct will always result in a stronger and more durable solid aura being created.

So his plan if the trolls did not listen to him and decided to start attacking him, Matthew would use the solid aura boots first to run away or solid aura gloves to block an attack before quickly activating the wolf's aura ability. And depending on the situation and the strength of the trolls, he would either fight or run away back to the forest where he is confident that he could lose them with his superior agility.

When he got out of the forest into the clearing, the trolls didn't notice him right away and Matthew kept on walking closer towards the entrance.

When the two troll guards finally noticed him, one of the trolls said to the other,

"Hey! What is a beast doing here? It looks weird, but let's catch it! I've never seen something like that before, I wonder how it tastes..." He said while ŀɨċkɨnġ his lips.

The other troll then replied,

"Its body is so thin! It won't have enough meat to even fill half of our stomach. You can eat it if you want to, I will be staying here. It's probably just a stray beast, it will run away before you get close to it."

"Humph! Let's just see if it will be able to dodge my stone throw!

Matthew, who heard what the two trolls were talking about, wanted to quickly say that he was not a beast from the forest, rather he was another demihuman just like them. But before he was able to open his mouth, one of the troll guards had already grabbed a rock, the size of his fist, which is two and a half times bigger than Matthew's, and threw it towards Matthew.

Matthew kept his eyes locked onto the rock and he was shocked when he saw the rock was moving at an incredibly quick speed towards him.

But Matthew's sharp eyesight was not something to be trifled with as he could follow the rock's movement and moved his body accordingly to dodge the stone that was aimed towards his head by tilting his head sideways.

The stone then missed its target and landed on the ground with a loud dull sound.

'That is dangerous…' Matthew sighed with relief.

The troll who couldn't believe that he missed his throw was about to grab another rock and wanted to throw it to Matthew, but this time, Matthew acted first and shouted at the top of his lungs,

"STOPP!"

The troll stopped his hands and turned his head towards Matthew. The other troll had also turned his head towards the source of the voice which surprisingly came from the creature that they thought was a beast that came from the forest.

"Did you hear that…?"

"Yes… Did that creature just say something…?"

Shaking their heads while laughing, the two trolls then said to each other,

"There's no way. Your ears must've been broken!"

"It's yours that's broken, fool! There's no way I would mistake something like that."

Matthew had somehow guessed where their conversation is going into and before they throw anything at him thinking he was an animal, he shouted once again,

"Yes, I can talk. So please, can you release the rock in your hand right now?"

This time, the troll heard Matthew's voice loud and clear for the second time and the doubts in their hearts disappeared when they saw that the voice really came out of the weird creature's mouth.

"It really talks! What should we do??"

"How am I supposed to know!? Get the village chief or one of the village mages to come here! Quick! I will catch it first so it doesn't run away!"

'Hoo, they also have mages here. I guess it makes sense, there's no way they would be smart enough to create all that solid earth construct based on their way of talking.'

One of the trolls then ran inside the village while the other one started walking towards Matthew.

"It's okay, I won't try to run away, in fact, I do want to talk with your mages or your village chief."

"Be quiet beast! Although you can talk, you're still a beast!"

'Hah… I somehow guessed this would happen after hearing them talk but…'

'Whatever, let's test out their strength first.'

The troll was only a few steps away from Matthew and it started raising its club, aiming to hit Matthew's shoulder.

"Stupid creature! Although you can talk, you don't have a brain! You should've run away when you can!" The troll said before swinging down its club.

The troll smiled widely as it is its first time hitting a creature that was stupid enough to not move when being threatened. He already imagined the creature's bones breaking into pieces when his club hit the creature's small and fragile body.

However, contrary to the troll's expectation, Matthew was already prepared for the troll's club and he activated the wolf's aura ability while simultaneously forming solid aura gauntlets on his hands.

He crossed his hand together and received the troll's club. 

A louder dull sound than before was heard and the troll's club was stopped in its place.

"Whoa! Nice power you got there! Why don't you try mine now?" Matthew said to the troll who looked at him with confused eyes.
