Reincarnated As A Chameleon And Eating Everything To Evolve

Chapter 154 - Testing Out The Troll's Strength

With the troll's club still stuck to his solid aura gauntlets, Matthew purposely pushed down the bone club to the ground, making the troll lose his balance.

The troll's body tilted forward due to his hand that was still holding onto the bone club that had touched the ground. Matthew could have changed his aura gauntlets into aura blades before quickly separating the troll's head from its body probably with only a single slash depending on how tough the troll's skin and muscles are, but killing the troll in front of him is not his main goal right now.

He was currently testing out how strong the troll is and he also wanted to talk peacefully with them and tell them about the impending threat which is the humans. Hence killing the troll in front of him would defeat both purposes.

'Who would want to talk peacefully to someone that had just murdered your own kin?' He thought.

So, instead of using the opportunity to cut the troll's head off, Matthew moved his body closer towards the troll that had its hand pronated outwards and did something less fatal.

Extending his hands forward then joining his fist together, the two aura gauntlets are now sticking with each other. And without wasting the opportunity the troll had given him, Matthew brought up both of his fists together before bashing them down as hard as he could, aiming at the troll's elbow.

With his balance disrupted and his body in an uncomfortable position, added with Matthew's quick and excellent timing, the troll wasn't able to dodge Matthew's strike and it connected squarely on the troll's elbow.

Instead of the dull sound that was heard when Matthew defended against the troll's attack, this time when Matthew's fists made contact with the troll's elbow, a resounding crack was heard before the troll's elbow visibly contorted into an unnatural angle.

The pain from getting his elbow broken caused the troll to scream and reflexively release his grip on the bone club. The troll that had a huge body, two and a half times bigger than Matthew, jumped backward while clutching his elbow in pain.

'Wow, I expected that it would result in his muscle tearing open or his bones protruding outward if I hit it that hard. It's either their toughness is above average or their levels are too high for me.'

While the troll was still busy with his broken elbow, Matthew picked up the troll's bone club that was almost as tall as himself from the ground and tried swinging it around.

'No wonder his balance was affected so much, this thing is heavy!'

Keep in mind that Matthew was already using his wolf's aura ability and his overall strength has been enhanced with the aura. His hands were also covered by the aura gauntlets that boosted his arm's strength even more, but the bone club was still considerably heavy for him.

'What animal bones are they using to make this…?'

Matthew planned to stop attacking the troll because he thought that breaking the troll's elbow would be enough to make it give up trying to attack him.

However, something that Matthew couldn't imagine before suddenly happened in front of his eyes.

The troll's bent elbow was slowly but surely returned to its natural position with several cracking noises every time it moved.

The troll's elbow visibly healed at an impossible rate and just in about 10 seconds, it had fully healed back to its optimal state.

'Now that's… unfair…'

When he saw that his elbow had completely functioned as normal, the troll turned his head from checking his elbow and looked at Matthew.

This time, instead of looking at Matthew as if he was only a stupid beast, the troll looked at Matthew with vicious eyes filled with anger.

Matthew didn't expect that his attempt to make the troll give up fighting as soon as possible backfired and made the troll furious.

"Umm… Sorry?" He said while giving a slight smile towards the troll.

But the troll didn't even give a reply before roaring and charging forward with its huge body.

With the bone club still in his hands, Matthew was curious and decided to try something.

Extending his aura to cover the bone club, the bone club was now also covered by the hazy white aura from its handle to its tip.

When the troll had reached the club's reach, Matthew swung it hard horizontally, aiming towards hitting the troll's side.

The troll is of course not a fool and raised his hand to block Matthew's attack.

But with the bone's club naturally heavyweight and added with the enhancement by Matthew's aura, along with Matthew's own strength that was multiplied by the solid aura gauntlets, the hit was way stronger than the troll had expected.

The moment the blunt weapon hit the troll's hand, another crack was heard. And by the time Matthew pulled back the bone club, the troll was already left with a broken forearm.

Matthew couldn't help but feel that the bone club in his hand was actually quite effective to be used as a weapon. If he could bash it right to a creature's head, then he would probably be able to break the creature's skull in one hit.

But the size of the weapon is quite problematic for him. Matthew wasn't sure whether he would be able to wield the bone club properly if he didn't use the wolf's aura ability or without the solid aura gauntlets.

And even though it was a good weapon to use, it wasn't that effective against his current opponent.

The troll's broken forearm didn't stay that way for long as the broken bones started to reattach themselves and its forearm soon returned back to normal as if nothing had happened to it.

Matthew could only sigh as he accepted the fact that it's probably impossible to make his opponent give up fighting without much effort.

'If it's gonna be like this then let's just experiment and try things out.'

Matthew dumped the bone club towards his back into the woods to prevent the troll from using it and he changed his solid aura gauntlets to solid aura blades.

With its forearm healed, the troll started planning to attack Matthew once again. At first, he was quite alert with the bone club in Matthew's hand as he had already experienced firsthand what would happen if he got hit by it.

However, after seeing Matthew had dumped his bone club, the troll didn't hesitate anymore and gained his confidence once again to charge forward towards Matthew. Matthew brandished his aura blade and instead of standing still waiting for the troll to come towards him, he dashed forward to meet the troll head-on.

But with the type of weapon he is using right now, Matthew didn't plan to just run forward while pointing his weapon straight to the front. He was using blades, not a javelin.

When Matthew and the troll were right in front of each other, the troll raised his right hand and launched a punch towards Matthew's face.

Matthew, seeing the punch coming from a mile away, stepped to his left while swinging his aura blade to the right to once again cut the troll's forearm.

Matthew didn't put much force in his slash as he only wanted to see how tough the troll's skin is and just did a casual swing with his ordinary solid aura blade.

The solid aura blade succeeded in cutting through the troll's skin, but it only went as far as halfway through the troll's forearm before it was stopped by the troll's thick bones.

After pulling back his aura blade, Matthew jumped backward and gained some distance away from the troll.

Just as Matthew had expected after seeing the troll's rapid regeneration ability, the cut wound healed even faster than the broken bones, only taking a few seconds before it completely closed up.

But seeing this, Matthew still heaved a sigh of relief and thought,

'If it's about that much then I'm confident enough that I can slice his hand off with a single swing if I put more strength to my arms and pour more aura into the aura blade.'

'Now let's test other stuff.'

Matthew then closed the distance between him and the troll while changing his solid aura blade to solid aura gauntlets once again.

With his hands protected by the aura gauntlets and his strength enhanced, Matthew didn't try to dodge all of the troll's attacks. Instead, he exchanged fists with the troll while still dodging the heavy hits to put less pressure on his aura gauntlets that suċkėd more and more aura from his aura core every time it clashed against the troll's fist.

After several more exchanges, Matthew finally had a better grasp on the characteristics of the troll,

'His strength is quite similar to the bear, but he is on the slightly weaker side compared to the beast. While I can't say he is agile, he can't be considered slow even with that huge body.'

However, there's still one question in Matthew's head.

'Does his regeneration ability even have a cooldown or a limit…?'

Matthew then planned to test that out by using the aura blades to cut the troll all over its body and see whether the regeneration ability will stop after a certain point.

But before he was able to do that, Matthew saw that the other troll had come back from inside the village. Behind him, was another troll that carried a white staff that seemed to be made out of a large bone, similar to the club.

However, with his sharp eyesight, Matthew was able to see that there are also familiar-looking symbols carved into the staff.

'That's definitely a mage.'

The troll mage walked closer towards Matthew who was still busy fighting the troll and he stopped walking after some distance.

'Finally, I hope we can stop this useless fighting right now.'

"Hey I want to-"

Matthew was about to say that he come in peace and wanted to talk with the troll mage, but he stopped midway as he heard the words that came out of the troll mage's mouth,

"Through the earth authority that was given by the gods to the trolls, hereby I command the earth elements to bend for my will and realize my dėsɨrė!"
