The Adventurer System
Chapter 221 - Back On The Track
Carol was staring intently at the unconcerned man sitting in his chair. They were concerned in this case after Grim received a new skill from the system.
To put it simply, the moderators knew if the adventurers learned a new skill, but not which one. As a result, even they were unable to reveal the true strength of each adventurer participating in this game.
"Grim Draigh, as far as I'm aware, did not commit any violations during this game. But, Sir Gin, take a look at him right now." Carol politely indicated the screen that beamed their eyes with her hand. "He's in the Nefas Dungeon, completing the Queen's quest."
Gin deeply exhaled along with a white smoke released by his mouth. "What can I do about this, Carol? I'm not the main creator of this game, I'm just here to guide since Harley is still coming back here."
Well, Gin is quite right since he isn't the main creator of this game.. That means only Harley Blun could answer all the questions that bothered Carol at this point. Also, Harley could briefly explain why Grim Draigh is always taking remarkable quests like this.
"Carol, Harley, and I are good friends. But, to be honest, if we talked about how Harley made this game, I couldn't tell you." Gin stated as she observed the young man passing through the tunnel. "Carol, Harley is a more enigmatic character than you might expect. We just kept working and let him fix it when he got back."
Carol nodded slowly as she agreed with Gin's decision. "I get it, Sir Gin." She remembered something as soon as she turned around. "Oh, Sir Gin, I have something to tell you."
Gin moved closer to his desk, indicating that Carol had piqued his interest. "Carol, what is it? Is this something significant?"
She nodded her head once more at him. "Yeah, I believe you should be aware of this." Carol approached him and said. "Sir Gin, Mr. Tusei is getting up. There's a rumor that he used his considerable power to send an invitation directly to Grim Draigh's home."
His eyes widened slightly, as if he was expecting something like this to happen. "Is this really how that old man works? However, used the GPS to locate him and send him an invitation."
Carol was wise to Mr. Tusei's strategy of recruiting all of the country's strong adventurers. His plan was to defeat the Legendary Dungeon in order to return an item to the real world.
He quickly reasoned based on Mr. Tusei's desperate moves. Tusei desired to obtain an item that would grant him immortality. Everyone could tell, even for an old man like him, that he had ulterior motives.
And then, all of a sudden, she shook her head and said, "Sir Gin, we can't do that. This is a violation of our policy."
"Carol, pay attention. If he's desperate to get Grim, we should do everything we can to stop him." Gin stated matter-of-factly.
Carol blinked in confusion; even though she usually saw Gin with a serious expression, this was the first time he demonstrated that no one could stop him.
"Sir Gin, why are you doing this?" She inquired in a perplexed tone.
"You must listen to me if you do not want to lose the balance. Mr. Tusei is planning something that could affect your life."
...
The adventurers, on the other hand, were still cheering on all of the participants in the 5v5 valor match inside the Adventure Stadium.
Each of them was excited to see which adventurer would stand out in the final round.
Two adventurers, one of whom was the captain of the specific guild, were walking down the corridor.
"Captain Verden, before we go to the guild captains' location, I'd like to tell you something." Aoiri approached him with courtesy.
"Hello, Amiya. Didn't I tell you to talk to me casually if it's just the two of us?" Verden said with a tense expression on his face.
"It's fine, Captain Verden. Also, don't use my real name here." Amiya responded casually.
"That's fine. But what exactly are you trying to say?" Verden inquired.
"Hmm... I'd like you to know that I received an invitation from Mr. Tusei, the game's famous investor—" She paused for a split second as Verden stepped in.
"W-Wait a second, please. Didn't you say Mr. Tusei?" Verden wanted to make sure his ears weren't playing tricks on him.
Amiya smiled broadly as she nodded her head at him. "Captain Verden, you are correct. That means I can't go to the guild a lot."
Verden suddenly hugged her tightly and patted her on the head. "Don't be concerned about the guild, Amiya. This is the opportunity you've been looking for too long, and I'm delighted for you."
Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes as it appeared Verden, the Guild Captain of the Radiance guild, witnessed Amiya's sacrifice for the sake of her brother.
She didn't tell him that the invitation wasn't really for her. "Captain Verden, you are correct. We'll find the best doctor to treat my brother's condition once we've saved enough money."
Verden said, raising his brows slightly. "Is that your brother again? Think about yourself first from time to time, okay? Also, once your brother is healed, you will be able to live a beautiful life."
"Yes! I'll do it—"
They both moved away from each other when they noticed a blond-haired woman passing next to him.
"Un- you're the Radiance guild's silver wing marksman, aren't you?" Amiya was approached by a blonde woman who inquired.
Amiya slowly nodded her head at her, her face flushed. "My name is Aoiri. What can I do to help you?" She politely responded.
"I admired your abilities—" When she heard Gino's voice, a blonde woman came to a halt.
"Within the next three minutes, all participants must be on the platform, or your party will be disqualified from the match."
"Aoiri, may I inquire as to the quickest route to the platform?" The blond woman questioned hastily.
"Simply go straight there and turn in the left corner. The entrance could be seen from there." Amiya responded casually.
"Thank you so much, I'll never forget this," she bowed. While waning her hand, she said cheerfully.
The blond-haired woman vanished from Amiya's vision in a matter of seconds.
"Do you know who she is, Amiya?" Isn't she quite close to you?" Verden expressed himself as he felt intense heat towards her.
"No? This is the first time I've seen that woman. Why? "Do you type that lady?" Amiya made fun of him.
He shook his head uncontrollably. "Of course not, she's not my kind of girl."
"All right, let's just get back because the battle is about to begin."
Back on the vast platform, Gino began to introduce a battle between Kaiyo's and Madness' parties.
"Oi! Oi! Oi! Today is going to be an icy battle! Our current location is in Arctic dent."
A blue portal appeared in front of each party. Even though they were only at the entrance, the audience could feel the freezing wind on their bodies.
"Let the battle begin!" Gino exclaimed cheerfully.
The first thing that surprised both parties when they entered the blue portal was a powerful blizzard. Furthermore, the extreme cold was absorbed by the metal, so some of the participants decided to remove their armor and replace it with a fur-lined robe.
Kaiyo, on the other hand, appeared to be unaffected by the coldness, as he had a 12 percent immunity to it. He did notice, that his party members were moving slowly.
"Who could stand the cold? How are we going to beat them if you act like that?" A man with black hair, tanned skin, and blue fur all over his body who appeared to be half-human and half-beast.
"Kaiyo, your zexel is made up of wolf genes. So you must be able to deal with the cold." A blonde woman with long hair said.
The three other adventurers, who were kneeling on the icy ground, cast a glance at this woman. In their minds, this woman was not only beautiful, but she also had a good heart.
The blizzard was intensifying, making it impossible for them to see the object in front of him.
"If no one can get back to their feet, let me win this match by myself. I can outrun them with my speed and keen senses." Kaiyo stated confidently.
The blonde woman exhaled sharply. "Hais... Kaiyo, don't be so careless. We should avoid all unnecessary scenarios that could occur to us. Is this what the adventurer I met in this game taught me?"
Kaiyo cast a glance her way. "Roshy, you're spitting it again. Isn't it true that man abandoned you? So you don't have to remember him all the time." While looking at the three adventurers, he said. "If you want to keep fighting, use your skill against them." He proposed.
Roshy couldn't stop herself from approaching her party members. "I'll handle it, Kaiyo."
