The Comprehensive Evolution of American Comics
#926 - Wei Family Courtyard
After ensuring that the identities of the Young Justice League kids were not leaked, the children were allowed to go home.
Cyborg even assured the kids as they left that he would be monitoring the internet just in case, and he would eliminate any problems in their infancy.
Now Dick and the others could finally get a good night's sleep.
Oh, right, because Mount Justice was no longer safe, Conner and the others who considered it their home obviously couldn't go back to live there.
Originally, the Justice League intended to have them stay at the Watchtower temporarily, but Wally's suggestion was more accepted by everyone.
"Why don't we just have Conner and the others stay at our place?" Wally said matter-of-factly.
"We have so many people, if we split them up evenly, everyone will have a place to stay, right?"
Dick didn't say anything. Actually, he could have taken everyone to their place, but the owner of Wayne Manor was Batman, and although he lived there, he could only be considered an adopted son.
If it were an ordinary manor, there wouldn't be so much to consider, but considering Batman's personality, he really couldn't make a decision on this matter.
"I can stay with Uncle J'onn," Megan said, raising her hand. "You don't have to worry about my living arrangements."
Martian Manhunter had an Earth identity. He was currently using the identity of a deceased Earth sheriff, and naturally lived in the sheriff's house. Fortunately, it was big enough; before moving into Mount Justice, she had been staying there.
"My house can also accommodate a member," Wally added. "My family knows my identity, so anyone is welcome."
Jackson shook his head and refused, saying, "I can return to Atlantis, so you don't have to worry about me."
Donna also indicated that she could return to Paradise Island, but at this moment, Courtney wrapped her arm around her.
"Come to my place. I live in Central City like Wally now, and my house has spare rooms."
"This…" Donna hesitated for a moment, but finally agreed.
Artemis, like Dick, didn't speak up, but unlike the latter, her family was too poor. She lived with her mother in a small room of a dozen square meters, which could only fit two beds and some furniture.
It was already a bit crowded with her and her mother living together, let alone hosting a guest.
Now, the only ones left without a place to go were Conner and Habie. Wally was a little embarrassed. Although his house was a standard American villa, it wasn't that big and couldn't accommodate two guests.
"Let Conner go. I can stay on the Watchtower," Habie said indifferently. He really didn't care; staying on the Watchtower was more fun than being on Earth.
"Or you can come back with me and Dick."
Conner was about to say something when a low voice interrupted him from outside the door. It turned out to be Batman and the others; they had obviously finished their meeting.
…
Habie was still a little surprised. He had actually entered Wayne Manor, and with Batman's approval.
"Welcome back, Master Wayne, Master Dick, and Master Habie."
Alfred's etiquette was impeccable. Even when he saw Habie's unusual appearance, he didn't show any extra emotion. It could only be said that he had been with Batman for so long and had seen everything.
"Prepare some supper, Alfred. Dick and the others have just finished their mission and have been on the Watchtower for so long. They must be hungry."
Batman took off his cape and handed it to Alfred, then walked towards the Batcomputer on his own, obviously preparing to do some more work.
A trace of helplessness flashed in Alfred's eyes. After a light cough, he said, "It's almost time for the rest you scheduled for yourself, sir. I don't think you'll push it back any further, will you?"
"Don't worry, Alfred. I know what I'm doing," Batman said without turning his head. "Oh, and prepare a cup of coffee for me."
He accepted the advice humbly but resolutely refused to change. This was Batman's old habit, and Alfred was used to it.
"Yes, sir." Alfred turned to Habie. "Please come with me. I'll arrange your room first, and then take you and Master Dick to have something to eat."
Habie had no objections and obediently followed Alfred. As for Dick, he declined Alfred's invitation.
"You guys go ahead. I'll go to the dining room after I report the mission to Batman."
Hearing this, Alfred showed a trace of helplessness. The older one was like this, and the younger one was like this. What would the guests think of their Wayne family?
He must find time to complain to Bruce.
After making the decision, Alfred led Habie away from the Batcave. After seeing the two of them leave completely, Dick walked to Batman's side.
Then Dick told Batman everything he and Jackson had discussed.
"Hmm."
Originally, Dick had hoped to get something from Batman, but he didn't expect the latter to just nod and say "Hmm."
"I know. It's good that you and Jackson know about this. Go have supper now."
Then Batman ignored Dick and turned to continue his work. The latter wanted to speak several times, but ultimately didn't say anything.
In the end, Dick could only leave the Batcave with a gloomy face, and at the same time, he once again made up his mind never to become Batman.
Little did he know that after Dick left, Batman opened the Batcomputer, which displayed the information of one Justice League member after another.
After looking at it for a while, Batman closed the information and instead called up the information of the Young Justice League.
It had to be said that Dick did provide him with an idea. Compared to the Justice League, there were indeed many in the Young Justice League who seemed like spies.
First of all, there was Artemis. Although Green Arrow covered up her identity, the cautious old bat still found out her true identity. The child of a super criminal was indeed very suspicious.
Then there was Megan. This niece of J'onn, who didn't know where she came from, was also worth questioning.
Then there were Conner and Habie. No one could guarantee whether there were any instructions engraved in the brains of these two.
Originally, Batman wanted Martian Manhunter to find out about this during virtual training, but Megan's powerful mind powers disrupted their plan, and they had no choice but to give up.
