Se Heon was the one who attacked first, which made Mi Young think that the boy is indeed serious with the battle. Mi Young realizes she had no choice but to attack as well, or she would look totally stupid standing on the battlefield not doing anything.

When Se Heon throws her another attack, Mi Young realizes he was using one of the Geo battle techniques he had learned from the Silent Dwarves.

The rock formation he made moved on its own as it tried to catch Mi Young who was lucky enough to dodge it.

"Sh*t. It's fast." Mi Young whispers to herself as she tries to get away from the huge hand formation who kept on following her and crashing everything on sight. "This is not good."

Aside from that, she can't seem to land an attack because the rock formation just keeps on coming, which results in Mi Young running all over the field.

She can even hear someone shouting from the crowd with how cowardly she is. Mi Young tried hard not to throw a middle finger at that person because 'Who the hell does he think he is? How can someone land an attack when there's a huge hand running after you?'

"Se Heon stop this!" Mi Young pleads as she runs across the battlefield once more.

"Sorry! I have my goals!" Se Heon answers back.

"F*ck those goals!" Mi Young whispers to herself as she skids to her right and goes running towards the back of the hand.

She jumps as high as possible to get on top of the huge formation.

The giant hand stops for a moment, trying to find its enemy. However, it was too late to notice that Mi Young was on top of it as she punched the center of the hand where its weak spot was.

If there is one thing Se Heon missed out is that Mi Young also knows this technique so she knows what is the weakness of his formation.

When the huge hand finally disintegrated into nothing but sand, Mi Young stops for a moment to catch her breath. She can even hear Se Heon asking her if she's tired.

Mi Young threw him an angry look. The other party just laughed at her.

'At least Se Heon is still himself.' Mi Young thought. The boy's action made her heart a little lighter so she continued her attacks with another battle technique she had learned from the Silent Dwarves as well. She can't let Se Heon hogged all the spotlight.

When Se Heon saw what battle technique she was doing his eyes widened.

"No…you don't." Se Heon says.

Mi Young smirks at him as she ends her battle technique with the final move. "Yes, I do."

And with that, Mi Young fires a flaming phoenix towards Se Heon's direction. The phoenix soared into the air as it screeched before flying towards its opponent who had his rock shield already at the ready.

But the phoenix was fast and it was a battle technique made to attack and destroy any type of shield. Se Heon's rock shield cracks before the phoenix turns into a blazing fire.

Some of Se Heon's clothes caught on fire as well.

"Ow! Hot! Hot! Hot!" The raven haired boy says as he distinguishes the fire on his shirt.

"Are you kidding me? A Jeon afraid of fire?"

"Load of bullsh*t, right?"

"Se Heon, what the hell are you doing?! You're a Jeon for god sake!"

Mi Young can hear a lot of other students cursing and asking Se Heon about his weak performance when it comes to battling with fire and Mi Young clenches her hands as she hears them.

She might be fighting with the boy but she doesn't like it if someone calls out her friend like that.

Se Heon stopped for a moment before he took a deep breath.

When he looks at Mi Young once more, the black haired girl knows that this time, the boy is indeed serious.

After that, Se Heon landed nonstop attacks on Mi Young who was also doing her best to block all the attacks.

When she calls out her Hydro element to create a water barrier between Se Heon's attacks and her, everyone from the crowd roared in excitement.

"That's what I'm talking about!"

"A dual user? This sh*t is so exciting to watch."

"Se Heon, you're a dual user as well right? Let's see your Pyro skills!"

"Yeah Se Heon! Show us what a Jeon is!"

When those words left the crowds mouth, Se Heon fired an attack at Mi Young using his Pyro element.

Mi Young knows that it was a huge attack which means that Se Heon's mana depleted by a huge sum.

"Se Heon stop it! You don't have to listen to them!" Mi Young tries to say. She remembered Ji Sung telling her that if Se Heon loses control, he will fire Pyro attacks one after another until his mana energy will burnout and can result in him having a coma.

However, the boy looks like he doesn't care what Mi Young was saying as he continued firing Pyro attacks at her. The crowd cheered. To their eyes, Se Heon was getting good with his Pyro skills, little did they know he was losing so much mana and he's already out of control and going completely berserk.

"Damn." Mi Young says as she pushes more of her Hydro element to create a better water shield for her. She can feel each attack coming from Se Heon getting stronger. She knows her water barrier won't hold for too long based on how strong each attack was getting.

Mi Young tried to search for Se Heon's eyes. But when she saw the look on the raven haired boy's eyes, she completely stopped.

Gone was the gentle look on the boy's face. It was now replaced with coldness and rage.

This is what Mi Young was afraid of. She's scared that during their battle, Se Heon would lose control of himself and Mi Young doesn't know what to do.

She remembers Ji Sung's words.

"Mi Young, if you and Se Heon end up battling against each other, please make sure he doesn't lose himself." The senior says as he looks at Mi Young with a pleading look. "He might get into a coma if he overuses his mana. It happened before and he woke up after two months. I don't want history to repeat itself, so please."

 

"But what if I can't stop him?" Mi Young asks, afraid that they will end up in that situation.

 

Ji Sung looked at Mi Young gravely before he answered, "Do your best as his caranam."

When Mi Young heard what Ji Sung said, she didn't immediately get it. She wanted to ask more about it but a professor called the senior so she lost the chance to ask him.

She tried to search about caranams but she found nothing at all.

Mi Young also asked Lady Ning Gwang about it but the librarian just shrugged and told her she doesn't know anything about it. The only thing the librarian said was that 'If what you said was true and that you share a deep connection with him, stop blocking his attacks and receive them.'

 

Mi Young frowned when she remembered what her teacher said.

"Receive them?" She whispers to herself.

Mi Young looks at the raven haired boy who looks like he was out for some blood and keeps on firing attacks one after another. She then looks at the shield she was forming.

"Receive them." She repeats.

Slowly, Mi Young distinguished her water barrier while Se Heon continued attacking.

She managed to get lucky when the attacks didn't hit her.

Mi Young hears her teammates telling her what she was doing and she needs to block Se Heon's attacks but she ignores them all as she starts walking towards Se Heon, unprotected at all.

"Se Heon! It's me!" Mi Young shouts.

Se Heon continued his blazing and strong attacks. But it seems like luck was definitely on Mi Young's side because none of them hit her, or maybe Se Heon was just too unfocused that his attacks kept on passing Mi Young.

"Die." Mi Young hears Se Heon say before he makes another battle technique. This time, Mi Young doesn't know what technique it was.

She frowned as Se Heon continued his movements.

However, Mi Young heard the familiar voice of Jeon Shi Yun.

"Mi Young! Get back! Run as far as possible!" Shi Yun shouts. "That's a secret Jeon art! That's a killing attack!!!"

Mi Young's eyes widened in surprise upon hearing what the younger Jeon said.

Is Se Heon completely out of his mind? Did Mi Young really fail in saving him?

Mi Young couldn't move a muscle as she looks at Se Heon who has a blank look on his face as he finishes his technique. He looks at Mi Young dead in the eyes before he says, "Begone."

And with that he sends a huge fire shaped like a spear towards Mi Young's direction.

Everyone started shouting for the girl to move but Mi Young couldn't move a muscle. She was so overwhelmed with shock and mixed emotions that she couldn't tell her feet to move.

The black haired girl closes her eyes as she waits for the attack to hit her.

If this is the way she's going to die, at least it's in the hands of her friend. That was all Mi Young could think of as she waited for the fire spear to hit her.

However, just like it has a mind on its own, the spear completely dodges the black haired girl.

Mi Young heard shouts from the crowd and a huge blast coming from behind her.

When she looks back to where the spear hit, there was a huge hole on the bleachers and the part of the battle arena where the spear landed was reduced to nothing but ashes.

If it really did hit her, Mi Young could have died.

When she looked back at Se Heon, the boy was already lying on the ground, unconscious.

Just in time, the bell rings, signaling that their battle has ended. Mi Young hears the MC announcing her name as the winner but all she can think of was Se Heon.

She runs towards where Se Heon's unconscious body was as she holds him in her arms.

"Se Heon!"

Then Ji Sung was already beside her as well. "Quick! Take him to the infirmary!"

The battle continued while Mi Young was in the infirmary, waiting for the academy nurse to announce that Se Heon was okay. She was waiting outside Se Heon's room with Ji Sung.

There was a moment of silence between them when Ji Sung decided to speak, "Do you know why his attacks avoided you?"

Mi Young looked at the other party, she didn't say anything but she knows that Ji Sung knows she was waiting for his answer.

"It's because you are caranams."

"What about us being caranams?"

Ji Sung smiled before he puts his hands on the pocket of his jeans. "Caranamans can't hurt each other. It's not that you dodge his attacks or he dodge yours, it's because your mana energy knows that the other party is your caranaman which is why it keeps on avoiding the both of you."

"Why didn't you tell us about that earlier?" Mi Young asks, glaring at Ji Sung.

The older boy just sticks out his tongue at her.

Just then, the school nurse comes out from the room announcing that the patient is in a stable condition.

Mi Young didn't even wait for her other words before she ran inside Se Heon's room.
