The Villain's Bodyguard
21 Chapter Twenty-One
"You! What did you see!" Meng took two steps back until her lower legs hit against the couch behind her. Her eye grew wide as they darted around in search of an escape.
"Calm dow-"
Before the librarian could finish his sentence, Meng threw herself at him head first, forcing away her fear to the back of her mind.
Even at her level six martial cultivation level, she still couldn't see the librarian's aura, which meant he exceeded her martial level by two. From her short experience with the guards earlier, she knew that she was at a serious disadvantage here.
Her lips turned into a thin grimace. 'Hopefully this sneak attack actually works.'
Meng covered the ten foot distance within a second. However, regardless of how fast it seemed to her, she had an instinctive feeling that her sneak attack already failed.
Ignoring the feeling, she attacked viciously. Meng drew a hair pin from her hair before pushing off the ground straight toward his jugular.
Without any fighting experience, the move was clumsy and left her wide open to attacks. A wave of a hand disarmed her, forcing Meng to only tumble past him and onto the floor.
The librarian looked toward the hair pin in his hand with a raised eyebrow. "You nearly had this old man fooled! Truly a wolf in sheep's clothing. However let's coo-"
Feeling the blood lust aura behind him, the librarian threw away the hair pin before swiftly turning around. He knew that behind him laid a ten or so year old girl, however with a blood lust aura like that, he couldn't ignore it.
Meng was still pushing herself off of the ground with unsteady steps. The body she inhibited might of had experience cultivating, but from the pain in her muscles, it seemed that Ru Gu Meng didn't know much about actual combat.
As a certified hermit who spent the mass majority of her life in one room, Meng also didn't have the knowledge it took to hold up in an actual fight.
Her eyes turned downcast and her hair, that was now unpinned, slipped over her face. Meng's choices in this fight were becoming limited and she knew it. Her thoughts flew around in her head, bringing up images of 'Defying Moonlight'.
With little time, she focused in on one fight the protagonist had early on. It was one of the only ones that didn't require harnessing spiritual power, therefore became her only option. This all occurred in seconds, before Meng's feet, now stabilized on the floor, once again rushed toward the librarian.
No, she wasn't an experienced assassin like the main character, but in an almost trace like state, some of the moves were manageable for her.
