After hearing Haniyev's recommendation, many professors, scholars, and academicians were very curious. Editor-in-Chief Baninkov adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and asked, "Did you bring the articles that Deputy Director Haniyev mentioned? If they are really good, we can definitely add these excellent articles to the textbooks."
Haniyev nodded and glanced at Ganur, who hurriedly took out a thick stack of printed copies from his briefcase and distributed them to the many editors present.
Haniyev also took one, opened the title page, and pointed to the first article titled "Marshal Zhukov and Commander Eisenhower." He introduced it, saying, "This article is very vivid. It not only focuses on the bravery and fearlessness of the Allied and Soviet generals and soldiers, but also reflects the powerful force of cooperation between the United States and the Soviet Union. It was thanks to the close cooperation between Marshal Zhukov and Commander Eisenhower that the Red Army and the Allied forces were able to capture Berlin, eliminate fascism, and let justice triumph over evil..."
Following Haniyev's introduction, everyone began to read the article carefully.
[The bright morning sun shone into the window through the gap in the curtains, and the guard, Little John, carefully opened the curtains.
"Commander, have you not slept all night again?"
Allied Commander-in-Chief Eisenhower put down his pen and blew out the kerosene lamp.
He looked outside and smiled: "Another night has passed. Time flies so fast. How can I not seize the opportunity?"
The guard said, "Commander, please don't get too tired."
Commander Eisenhower smiled and said: "Let's go out for a walk!"
When I came out of the military camp, I saw that the mountains and hills were covered with white snow, but mixed in the snow were the remains of burnt trees, as if accusing the evils of fascism.
Down the mountain, heroic Allied soldiers emerged from their bunkers, preparing for another day of fighting.
Commander Eisenhower walked quickly down the mountain. When the soldiers saw the commander, they hurried up to greet the great world-class military strategist!
The commander-in-chief asked the soldiers kindly, "Is it cold at night?"
"not cold!"
"Do you have the confidence to persevere and achieve victory?"
"Under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief, we have great confidence!"
At this time, a signalman came: "Report to the commander-in-chief, Zhukov, commander of the Soviet Red Army, is here."
Eisenhower said: "Why don't you invite Marshal Zhukov over?"
Inside the camp, guards poured tea.
Eisenhower warmly greeted Marshal Zhukov: "Please have some tea. We are in wartime now, and conditions are not very good. This is the only way to entertain you."
Marshal Zhukov looked at Commander Eisenhower with admiration: "Under such adverse conditions, you still persist in taking the initiative to attack fascism! We admire you very much, and our Soviet Red Army should also learn from your great spirit!"
Eisenhower said: "In order to protect world peace and freedom, we will spare no effort and spare no cost!"
Marshal Zhukov said: "Only under your leadership can the Allied forces have such great strength!"
Eisenhower said, "Don't say that. Do you still have any help? Is there any difficulty in fighting fascist imperialism?"
Marshal Zhukov said: "There are many difficulties. Without your help, we would have no confidence. It was very difficult when we fought the fascists in Moscow and Stalingrad."
Eisenhower said: "We Allied soldiers have rich experience in fighting fascism. We can guide you. If we work together, we will definitely be able to enter Berlin and destroy fascism!"
Just as the two were laughing and talking happily, an alarm suddenly sounded outside the camp!
A soldier came in and reported: "German planes are coming." The people around him immediately became nervous.
Commander Eisenhower waved his hand and said, "What are you afraid of? If they come, strike them!"
Soon, the roar of planes, the explosion of bombs, and the sound of gunfire echoed among the mountains.
Commander Eisenhower took a 98K Mauser rifle and said, "Let's go out and take a look!"
Guard John said: "Commander-in-Chief, this is too dangerous!"
Marshal Zhukov also tried to dissuade him. Commander Eisenhower smiled and raised the gun in his hand: "I captured this gun from the Germans. Face-to-face combat was definitely more dangerous than it is now, right?"
Commander Eisenhower came to the cave entrance with a gun, and saw several fascist imperialist planes dropping bombs back and forth. Every time they flew over, an explosion sounded on the ground. The brave Allied soldiers kept shooting at the German planes!
Eisenhower frowned angrily as he saw another German plane preparing to fly over his position. He raised his gun and aimed at the enemy plane.
Marshal Zhukov encouraged the commander-in-chief: "Your Excellency, shoot down the German planes!"
When the enemy planes aimed at our positions and were about to fly down to bomb, His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief opened fire!
In an instant, a huge ball of fire exploded and burned in the air, and the wreckage of the German planes fell down one after another. The soldiers cheered, and the remaining German planes were stunned. They had no courage anymore and fled!
The soldiers on the battlefield cheered to Commander Eisenhower and Marshal Zhukov standing next to him: "Long live the great spirit of the Allies! Long live the great spirit of the Red Army!"
After reading this article, everyone fell silent.
As veteran American admirers, old professors, academicians and other intellectuals from the National Textbook Editing Center have always been keen on praising the American system and American heroes, but they still find it difficult to accept the blatant praise of the Allied forces and Allied commanders in this article.
As senior intellectuals who are familiar with history, Baninkov and others naturally know the history of World War II. Obviously, the Soviet army was the most critical force in the attack on Berlin, and it was also the Soviet army that involved the most German forces in World War II.
First of all, the meeting between Eisenhower and Zhukov in this article is not true history, and it is impossible and unnecessary for Zhukov and the Red Army to learn from the Allies how to fight the German army. Although this article successfully establishes the majestic image of Eisenhower and the Allies, it does ignore the facts.
And everyone also doubted whether Eisenhower really had the ability to shoot down German fighter planes...
However, since it was recommended by Haniyev, everyone was still skeptical.
Baninkov asked, "Comrade Hanyev, why haven't I seen this article before? Who wrote it?"
Haniyev said without even a frown, "This article was written by an American war correspondent after the end of World War II. Ganur, Deputy Director of our National Education Press, discovered it among old World War II documents. The author is Donald Trump. Ganur and our Ukrainian cultural scholars believe that this article is an important historical document and fully reflects the contemporary spirit of Soviet-American cooperation and embrace of peace. Therefore, we all agree that this article is suitable for inclusion in Soviet elementary school textbooks."
Chapter 182: Grandpa Stalin Shoots Down NATO Satellite
After Haniyev pushed this extremely disgusting article to an American war correspondent named Donald Trump, Baninkov and other Soviet professors and scholars fell silent.
Because Haniyev had already discussed this with Ganur and others, and Ganur, as a Soviet bureaucrat who was eager to make progress, was very cooperative with Deputy Director Haniyev, and Gonchar and others also trusted Haniyev very much, so they had no doubts about the source of these articles.
Draco, Akar and Gonchar, as representatives of Ukraine's education and cultural circles, have long recognized Haniyev's theory.
Seeing that the Russian academicians remained silent, Draco and the others exchanged glances and said, "Although this article has artistically reworked the characters and events of that time, the core idea of Soviet-American cooperation and the defeat of fascism remains unchanged. After discussion, our Ukrainian Textbook Editing Center has unanimously agreed to include this article, 'Marshal Zhukov and Commander Eisenhower,' in the textbooks for Soviet elementary school students."
Although Draco, Akar, and the others were Ukrainians, they held considerable influence in the Soviet cultural and educational circles, having participated extensively in previous textbook editing projects. Editor-in-Chief Baninkov took out a cigarette from a pack, lit one, and exhaled smoke rings. "This article has a clearer purpose," he said. "It's certainly in line with the new requirements of our educational reforms in this era. I think it could be included in third or fourth grade textbooks. What do you think?"
Although all those present were influential figures in the Soviet education and cultural circles, more than 90% of them were reactionaries who admired and looked up to the United States. They applauded and fully supported Gorbachev's Westernization reforms, and were also quite supportive of Yeltsin's accelerated promotion of comprehensive Westernization. Driven by such ideological motivations, after just a little thought, everyone accepted the inclusion of "Marshal Zhukov and Commander Eisenhower" by American war correspondent Donald Trump in elementary school textbooks.
Openly praising the United States and secretly disparaging the Soviet Union, spreading American culture to replace Soviet culture, these are what the dozens of scholars, professors and academicians present here have been doing silently for many years. Now that Ukrainian education experts such as Haniyev have brought better works, they have no reason not to adopt them.
As for whether what is said in this article is the true history of World War II, they think that how can Soviet children aged seven or eight, or eight or nine know it? Besides, they don’t pay attention to the real history. The main thing is to let the world see the true face of the evil dictatorship of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and the Soviet Union, so that the Soviet Union will embrace freedom and democracy after several years and become a beautiful country like the United States.
All we need to do is reform education and revise textbooks so that Soviet children can know through textbooks that the Soviet Union and the United States had worked together decades ago, and that Eisenhower, the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, was a great strategist and military strategist.
After the editors of the Soviet State Textbook Editing Center unanimously agreed to include "Marshal Zhukov and Commander Eisenhower" in the elementary school textbook, Haniyev laughed, turned to the second article in the printed version, pointed to the title and said: "In addition to Donald Trump, Comrade Ganur also found an article written by the young hero Pavlik Morozov.
This article, titled "Grandpa Stalin Shot Down a NATO Satellite with a Stone," was written by Pavlik Morozov, a Young Pioneer we all studied in our childhood. Let's take a look at it. This article reflects the wisdom and greatness of our great leader Comrade Stalin and the strength of the proletarian revolutionary force..."
Pavlik Morozov was an advanced model of the Young Pioneers created by the Soviet Union in the 30s for everyone to learn from and emulate, because he had the courage to report his father, was unwavering in his thinking on class struggle, and was not influenced by personal emotions. He was a selfless and fearless little hero who dared to fight against class enemies. At that time, Comrade Gorky emphasized that the propaganda department should make Morozov an advanced model of revolution and a fearless fighter.
It can be said that Pavlik Morozov's deeds are well known to several generations of Soviet people. They have been part of the childhood of Vladimir and Haniyev. He is a positive figure that three generations of the entire Soviet Union have been educated about since childhood.
After Haniyev mentioned Morozov's name, many old academicians, scholars and editors frowned unconsciously. They were very disgusted with the so-called "class struggle" in their hearts, and they were also extremely disgusted with the little hero Morozov of that year. Naturally, they would not like the article written by this little hero that boasted about Stalin, and they did not want to include the article that promoted and praised Stalin in the Soviet textbooks at all.
But the Soviet Union is still ruled by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and Stalin is still the second-generation leader of the Soviet Union. He is a great thinker, military strategist and politician in the Soviet Union and even in the world.
These textbook editors were unable to express their disgust for Stalin and could only pretend to read the article.
"Grandpa Stalin, returning from a visit abroad, completely disregarded his physical fatigue and spent the night with a few of us, the pioneers of the Young Pioneers, to discuss arrangements for Children's Day. The discussion ran late, so he sent us out and asked the driver to take us home. On the way to the gate, we said, 'Grandpa Stalin, go back and rest. You just came back from abroad.'"
Grandpa Stalin shook his head. "It's not a problem. You know, many people in the world now regard socialism as an enemy and are constantly causing trouble for us. You are the future of our motherland. Your affairs are the affairs of the country and are of top priority."
We were all very excited, with tears in our eyes: What a good Grandpa Stalin is..."
The beginning is unremarkable, just like an ordinary Soviet elementary school textbook. Obviously, this is also an old textbook that praises Stalin as before.
Editor-in-Chief Baninkov was just about to find a reason to reject the article when he heard several editors exclaim in surprise. He frowned, then patiently continued reading.
Stalin looked up at the sky and said, "It would be great if the world were as peaceful as this sky. But there are some countries like Britain and France that want to mess up the world. They are sinners."
As he spoke, Grandpa Stalin bent down, picked up a stone from the flowerbed, and then looked up at the sky and said, "Damn Ansar!" He threw the stone upward with all his might, and soon a satellite in the sky suddenly burst into a dazzling light and then fell down.
Baninkov exclaimed in surprise. He felt that this article was complete nonsense. In this article, Stalin no longer seemed like an ordinary person, but more like a magician and a superman.
"What's this……"
Baninkov muttered as he continued reading:
"These are NATO spy satellites. They have been hovering over Moscow, violating our sovereignty. I have tolerated this for a long time."
Grandpa Stalin said angrily.
The children all applauded and felt proud that their country had such a leader.
After a while, Grandpa Stalin called his secretary and asked where the satellite had landed.
"It seems to be around Kiev." said the secretary.
Grandpa Stalin was startled and said, "Send someone to check if there is any problem."
Afterwards, Grandpa walked us to the gate and waved until he lost sight of us. On the fourth day, we heard something was happening in Ukraine. We were very nervous, but then Grandpa Stalin called us over. He was still so kind, asked us to sit down, and said, "War always requires sacrifice. Those who sacrifice for the cause of national independence are great." He lowered his head and said, "But I must admit that my action in shooting down the enemy satellite was reckless. I apologize to the people of this country and will explain the situation to them."
Tears welled up in our eyes. What a wonderful grandfather! He remembered his small mistakes during the fight against the enemy and even apologized. In our future studies, we must learn from Grandpa Stalin's broad mind and his willingness to learn from others!
The impact of this article far exceeded the first one. Many old professors and academicians were amazed when reading it, and after reading it, they couldn't wait to discuss it with people around them.
Baninkov scoffed and said, "The author of this article couldn't be Morozov, because this little hero was murdered around 1932, reportedly by a relative. NATO was founded after World War II, so how could it have existed in 1930? Furthermore, Comrade Stalin was only human, so how could he have shot down a NATO military satellite with a single stone? This clearly defies common sense and is unbelievable. This story is riddled with holes. How could it even be in an elementary school textbook?"
Many editors nodded, obviously agreeing with the editor-in-chief's point of view.
Haniyev smiled slightly and said, "Mr. Baninkov, you are right. An article like this, full of errors and omissions praising Comrade Stalin, is certainly not suitable for inclusion in elementary school textbooks. But what if this article were included in middle school textbooks?"
Baninkov was startled and asked, "What do you mean?"
Haniyev knew that many old professors were dissatisfied with the successive leaders of the Soviet Union, especially Ukrainian intellectuals, who hated Stalin to the core because of the Great Famine in Ukraine.
Looking at Draco, the most famous figure in Ukrainian education, Haniyev said, "I think our Ukrainian professors know the most about this issue. Professor Draco, please help the many academicians and professors in Moscow to solve this problem."
Draco stood up, adjusted his glasses, and spoke loudly, "Our Ukrainian Textbook Editing Center recommends that this article be included in the middle school textbooks because it's filled with errors and omissions. Pavlik's portrayal seemed successful, but his so-called heroic deeds were actually contrary to human nature. Today's children will never appreciate Pavlik. Furthermore, Pavlik's so-called article, which excessively praises Stalin and embodies mythology and extreme personality cult, what do you think the reaction of middle school students and their parents will be?"
Will you believe the text and thank Stalin and admire Stalin?
Or did they realize that Stalin promoted personality cult and used every possible means to commit despicable acts?
We are educators, the conscience of Soviet intellectuals, and we have an obligation to let children know the truth..."
Since Gorbachev implemented reforms, speech in the Soviet Union has become increasingly free. In the past two years, there have even been many Soviet jokes about leaders such as Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev circulating in the streets and schools.
Many people would openly insult and slander leaders such as Stalin and Brezhnev in squares and streets, and for some reason the Ministry of Internal Affairs would not arrest the people who insulted the leaders.
With such an open atmosphere of public opinion, Draco did not hide his negative emotions and opposition to Stalin when he stood up to speak. After Draco's speech, Baninkov and others suddenly realized that this article, which was nominally written by the little hero Pavlik Morozov, seemed to be praising Stalin, but anyone with a discerning eye could see that it was full of loopholes. Primary school students are young and ignorant, and may take the content of the text seriously, but if this text is put into middle school textbooks, middle school students who already have some ability to distinguish right from wrong will be able to see the errors and loopholes in this text at a glance. They will never believe that Stalin would use a small stone to knock down a NATO satellite. The praise of Stalin in this article will also be seen by middle school students because of the loopholes, and thus they will be disgusted with or even resentful of Stalin who is pretending to be a god and fooling the people.
Draco's eloquent speech moved dozens of Soviet education and cultural elites in the conference room. After hearing the words "conscience of cultural people", they all puffed out their chests.
Yasen Zasulsky, director of the Department of Journalism Education at Moscow State University, was also a member of the team that edited the national textbooks. He always considered himself an independent cultural figure and deeply sympathized with Draco's speech. He was the first to applaud and led the applause.
After the applause died down, Yasen Zasulsky spoke again, "Professor Draco's speech was very truthful. This so-called little hero wrote an excellent article. Its existence is like a sharp blade, piercing the lies of Stalin's personality cult. It allows our young people to learn to think independently and understand, like American teenagers, to treat everyone fairly and impartially, even national leaders. Americans are free to insult the president if they are dissatisfied with him. How enlightened is that?"
I think the article "Grandpa Stalin Shot Down a NATO Satellite with a Stone" is very good. It's good because if it were included in middle school textbooks, it would awaken our Soviet youth, teach them to think independently, and help them break the decades-long deceptive tactics of the Soviet bureaucracy."
After Zasulsky took the lead in expressing his support, intellectuals in Moscow excitedly rushed to speak. Everyone expressed their own views, and it was difficult to reach a consensus.
After everyone expressed their opinions, they were roughly divided into two camps: those who supported the inclusion of "Grandpa Stalin Shot Down a NATO Satellite with a Stone" in the middle school textbooks and those who opposed it. However, regardless of whether they supported or opposed it, everyone had a very low opinion of Stalin and was very contemptuous of the young hero Pavlik Morozov.
Chapter 183 Low-level Red and High-level Black
Since the editors have different opinions and cannot reach a conclusion for the time being, the issue of whether the second article should be included in the textbook has been temporarily put on hold and will be discussed further later.
In line with the principle of striking while the iron is hot, Haniyev continued to open the printed version and explain the subsequent six articles to the editors.
In fact, these texts written by Soviet and American figures such as "Donald Trump", "Johnson Joe Biden", and "Pavlik Morozov" were all written by Haniyev himself.
However, Haniyev could never admit that these articles were written by him. Firstly, it would be difficult to gain people's trust without using the name of domestic and foreign celebrities. Secondly, these articles would be labeled as poisonous textbooks that "poison the flowers of the motherland" in the future. Haniyev certainly could not bear the infamy and become the author of poisonous textbooks.
Based on various practical considerations, Haniyev pretended that the author of each article was an American during World War II or a famous but deceased figure in Soviet history. His goal was to clear the blame by leaving no evidence behind.
The printed version with these eight articles and some short stories, exercises, theorems, etc. as the main content is a seesaw for Haniyev to intervene in the Soviet Union's toxic textbooks and change the future. This uses the highest wisdom of Haniyev in both his lives.
Haniyev went deep into the field of education, mixed with old professors and scholars who were anti-Soviet elements, and insisted on participating in the adaptation of textbooks in order to use "low-level red" and "high-level black" methods and excessively anti-Soviet means to destroy their plan of compiling poisonous textbooks to undermine the ideological foundations of Soviet children.
Haniyev mainly wants to protect the children of Ukraine. He does not want the tragedy to happen again, so that future Ukrainian youths will not be able to find a home that is consistent with their national history, and will not be able to find the values of their parents and grandparents.
Both publicly and privately, Haniyev hopes to preserve the integrity of the thoughts and the inherited spiritual core of this critical generation of children before and after Ukraine's independence.
In addition to this lofty goal, Haniyev also wanted to infiltrate the ranks of anti-Soviet senior intellectuals by participating in or even leading the compilation of "toxic textbooks", because he knew that before the collapse of the Soviet Union, anti-Soviet people's movements had emerged in Russia and Ukraine. These senior intellectuals, headed by academicians, professors, poets, and scholars, had enormous influence. They were the pioneers and promoters of the people's movement for independence and division.
Haniyev wanted to infiltrate the enemy and use these people to launch a campaign that would benefit him in the future.
In Hanyev's plan, Sherbitsky's comeback and his return to the highest power stage in Ukraine are inseparable from the "Rukh (Ukrainian People's Movement)", which currently has no political demands. However, Hanyev knows that in the future, "Rukh" will mobilize millions of people to participate and shake the political foundation of Ukraine. The founders of Rukh are senior Ukrainian intellectuals headed by Draco, Akar and Gonchar.
In order to get hold of "Rukh" and use him for his own purposes, Haniyev had to disguise himself and win over Draco and others by trying to please them.
Writing the most innovative and toxic textbooks that represent the latest direction of reform is a necessary means for Haniyev to win over these intellectuals.
