Guild Boss's Ambition
Page 40
I didn't care about his laziness. Even if I did, it wouldn't change anything. I followed his topic and looked at the Temple of Life and Death in the distance: "The sunset here is magnificent and beautiful, and the temple is also very grand, but I remember that there is a more moving scenery somewhere in the world. It is a scenery that I want to see again with my own eyes no matter what."
He glanced at me sideways, and after a long while, he said, "The most beautiful scenery here is the people."
"Yes, the most beautiful scenery is often people."
I sat back on the edge of the rooftop and looked down.
In the bustling lights of the streets, I saw the vitality of an era, I saw joy and happiness, and also loneliness and sadness. The world is so different, and people’s emotions and bonds are so similar. I still miss my hometown now, but when I gradually leave behind all kinds of causes and effects here, will I want to go back in the future?
This world is real. I have confirmed this since I met that pure white girl.
But who is that girl in pure white?
Why am I in this world, with a gaming system installed on me?
I asked myself unanswered questions, and the unknown answers made me upset. I hated the boredom of having no answers.
So, I handed another question to someone else to distract myself.
"Well, uncle, why didn't you keep that guy called Sauna here a while ago?"
"Uncle... uncle?"
Stallone seemed shocked by the way I addressed him. I found it funny and asked impatiently, "So I want to ask you, uncle, why didn't you follow through and keep the sauna guy here?"
He replied, "Because it's very troublesome to go against your guild leader."
I turned around in surprise.
"What do you mean by I, I, I... Family Chairman?!"
The decadent uncle smiled at me playfully: "Aren't you and her in a guardian and ward relationship?"
Guardian and guardian? Who is guarding whom?
I glared at Stallone with gnashing teeth. This uncle was not an ordinary uncle. He looked decadent, but in fact he was full of dirty tricks. Just a few words from him almost changed the subject.
I ignored his strange remarks and brought the topic back: "To put it another way, why did you try to keep Sauna in the first place? He was a chef who couldn't cook good food. What good would it do you to keep him in the kitchen?"
He sat up, sighed lightly, and pursed his lips, handing me, a minor, a cigarette: "As a young poster girl, you ask too many questions. Would you like to have a puff? It tastes very good──"
I shook my head to refuse his cigarette and waited for his answer with silent eyes.
He withdrew his hand with a bored look on his face and replied calmly, "Due to an accident, Sauna has become unable to distinguish the taste of ingredients, and he can no longer rely on his taste buds to season food. He has even lost his established impression of ingredients. But if he can break through this dilemma, then how much will he grow? What will the food he cooks taste like?"
“Isn’t that very exciting?”
The uncle gave a charming smile.
I was stunned by it.
What followed was a nauseous feeling.
"Uncle, you seem to be unusually attractive to men──"
"Eh?"
He hadn't expected that I would suddenly have such a thought, and was so shocked that the cigarette in his mouth fell to the ground.
After a while, he seemed to think of me as a certain person. He immediately widened his eyes and busied himself explaining his innocence: "Ms. Lan Nong, please don't think wrongly. That guy and I only have a very simple, clean, violent, and cold relationship between superiors and subordinates! At most, we are childhood sweethearts! It is definitely not what you imagine..."
"Childhood sweetheart? I think I heard some great news again?"
Looking at this lazy uncle with a nervous look on his face, I suddenly felt happy. According to what the sauna guy accidentally revealed last time, Miss Luoluo should be in love with someone in Water World, and Uncle Stallone in front of me happened to be from Water World. Oh no! No! No! My curiosity has been completely aroused by this relationship!
Hey!
I gave Uncle Stallone a knowing smile.
He responded with a bitter expression that said “Fuck, I was careless!”
So, dear audience, gossiping is really a necessary skill for working people.
As long as we properly integrate the information of different people, sometimes we can draw some shocking conclusions and get hold of the evidence against certain people. Once we have the evidence, many things will become easy to deal with.
"Uncle Stallone, don't worry! I won't say anything nonsense!"
I gave the decadent uncle a sweet smile, and he seemed to be frightened and paused.
"Well, I believe you."
He nodded heavily at me, the subtext of which was: Please raise your hand, my lady, and we can negotiate the conditions.
Gee tut.
I just love talking to smart people!
But for the time being, I don't want to take advantage of the uncle's cuteness to do anything interesting or fun. Before we do big things, we need to collect comprehensive information first. The most important person involved in this gossip is Miss Korolo. Without her testimony, it would be easy to get out of hand with just one technical mistake. The sinister uncle is not easy to mess with, so we must act with caution.
So I just patted Stallone on the shoulder as if I was entrusted with a great responsibility, and then left the scene in a cool manner.
"Uncle, I really won't discriminate against you──"
Of course, I didn't forget to deliver the final blow.
"..."
He could only remain silent.

13. The people watching the scenery upstairs are watching you (Blannie)
(Branny Erhard)
The world is full of beautiful scenes worth describing.
The dew on the leaves reflects the colorful light in the early morning...
The crowds coming and going on Qingyun Road at noon...
The scene where the Fire Mage performs his fireball acrobatics...
The moment when the wind blows the leaves off...
The world is waiting for us to discover its beauty.
It’s July and the autumn wind is a little chilly. Today, Sister Meng’er forced me to take a day off for my period.
But my familiar friends were either working or on a mission, and I was just bored staying in the stone house alone. But then again, as the poster girl of an adventurer's guild, the number of my friends seemed a bit ridiculous. But I just hate making friends for the sake of making friends. Those meaningless chats always make me impatient, and I am indifferent to unnecessary communication.
I can't tolerate myself wasting my limited life.
When I got up in the morning, I did all the housework I could do, and made some delicious desserts for Sister Meng'er and the other girls on the façade. Unfortunately, after a while of hard work, it was only three o'clock in the afternoon.
I have done everything that needs to be done.
It seemed as if the stone house no longer needed my presence.
I felt like I was betrayed by everyone.
"I decided to run away from home!"
I laughed to myself at my own thoughts, took out my sketchbook and charcoal pencils, took my apple and sandwich, and walked out of the stone house.
Where should I go?
I have no direction, and the autumn wind is blowing towards the south.
I got the direction. To the south was the clock tower directly opposite the window of my room.
The sunset view from the bell tower is beautiful, but what about watching the twilight from the bell tower?
I immediately found my target, and my steps became lighter.
The bell tower is not far from the stone house. After walking on Qingyun Road for about fifteen minutes, I arrived at the bottom of this tall building. There was an old woman guarding the counter at the door of the bell tower. She was a retired teacher. In addition to taking care of the bell tower, she also did some research. I didn’t know her name, but I only remembered that she once commissioned a task in our store.
She once had a water blue demon cat.
But our adventurers only found a dead body.
She is much thinner than before.
I nodded to her regretfully and she gave me a smile.
"Are you here to paint, little girl?"
"Ah."
"It's cold up there in the autumn, how about wearing an extra layer of clothing?"
She handed me a sweater. It was a very old style, but it exuded the scent of daffodils from the incense smoke, giving people a vague sense of the leisure and thoughtfulness of an elderly person. I took it with both hands and put it on with gratitude.
I left the apples for the old woman and went upstairs.
The stairs inside the clock tower are difficult to walk on, and there is a constant noisy sound of gears coming from inside, clicking, clicking, as if some monster is quietly chasing me from behind in the dark path, and the adventurous factor in my body is gradually excited.
Then, nothing special happened.
There were no monsters, no bad guys, and not even a mouse. I successfully arrived at a small balcony in the bell tower. The balcony was high enough to overlook the stone house and be at eye level with the Tree of Life. Just as the old woman said, the autumn wind on the balcony was cold. I tightened my clothes that were dancing in the wind, opened the dense paper package, and took out the sandwich wrapped inside.
Tomato, cucumber and tuna sandwich - my favorite.
I ate a sandwich and leaned on the balcony railing, gazing at the blue road in the wind. From this angle, the world suddenly became more magnificent. Each figure looked like an industrious ant, and the buildings looked like stones and trees. They seemed to be disorganized, but they were vaguely following some invisible rules.
Man is free but not free.
I freely searched for the scenery, and all I saw were beautiful things, but there was only one focus missing, an inspiration that scared me so much that I dared not pick up the brush to record it immediately. So, I had to put on the old woman's sweater, with the autumn wind blowing, silently watching the afternoon on the road to blue sky, waiting for the focus to appear in front of my eyes.
Time was blown into the streets and alleys, and I seemed to have gained nothing, yet also seemed to have gained something.
I stayed there until sunset, about half past six.
"It's time to go back, so that Sister Menger won't worry."
I unbuttoned my sweater and tried to withdraw.
But suddenly I caught a glimpse of a small figure out of the corner of my eye.
A little black-haired girl in a pure white dress emerged from the rooftop of the stone house. She instantly drew my attention back. I only saw her do a few silly stretching exercises before slowly approaching the edge of the rooftop.
Wait! What does she want to do?
My heart suddenly rose to my throat!
In the end, she just wanted to sit on the edge of the rooftop...
I must teach this idiot a lesson when I get back!
I was worried and angry, but looking at Xiao Lan who was alone from afar, a strange feeling suddenly surged in my heart.
Her red eyes were gazing at the Temple of Life and Death in the north. Her feet were swaying back and forth like the claws of a migratory bird that couldn't find land. Her slender back looked even thinner in the twilight tones. She might as well disappear into the distance if a gust of wind passed by.
"Little Blue..."
I was uneasy about Xiao Lan's background, but another impulse was even more distinct and intense.
I quickly turned to a new page in my portable sketchbook and held the charcoal pencil that she and I had slightly improved. My mind was filled with the idea of painting. With so much inspiration, it only took me a moment to work out the composition of the scene, sort out the perspective of the scenery and characters, and decide on the focus of my pursuit - the girl in white who seemed so close yet so far away.
The charcoal pencil quickly made a draft on the drawing paper. I had held several midnight workshops with Xiao Lan earlier. She taught me basic sketching techniques. I also felt that I could not handle too many colors for the time being, so I have been practicing using only black and white to depict things recently.
Through a month of attempts, both large and small, I was gradually able to depict the softness of clouds, the hardness of stones, and the sharpness of sword blades. I also tried to depict the bell tower again and the gentle light of the autumn sunset.
I seldom draw portraits, but now I just want to capture that little back view!
I moved my charcoal pencil quickly, fearing that the sun would sink into the city wall and the darkness of the long night would obscure the scene before my eyes.
Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding
In the end, my charcoal pencil failed to catch up with the sunset, and the clock tower under my feet made a loud and clear time signal as if announcing the end of the world!
Night has fallen.
In the faint moonlight and the lights on the street, I could no longer see the stone house in the distance. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the scene just now was still vivid in my mind!
I rushed downstairs with the picture album and asked the old woman for a magic crystal lamp.
I don’t know how long it took, but I restored my memory on paper.
I put down my pen and looked at the girl on the paper with some uneasiness.
At the side, the old woman squinted her wrinkled eyelids and affirmed me and it.
"This is really beautiful, even more beautiful than the one recorded in the crystal photo. You are born with a pair of skillful hands, little girl..."
