It was a little boy, his hands wrapped in heavy sleeves, floating behind him as he ran, very similar to the running posture of a ninja.
Coz asked, "Do you want me to kill them?"
"Kill him, but don't get hit by the bullet, it hurts." Wop handed him the fragment.
Koz nodded and quietly disappeared into the darkness.
The men ran past him, but no one noticed him.
Coz was not in a hurry to kill. He was waiting for the only man with a gun, and when he passed by, he jumped on his back and slit his throat with a fragment.
Koz moved as fast as ever. He picked up the scrap gun on the ground and put it in his arms. Before the other men could react, he rushed into them and ruthlessly harvested their lives with the fragments.
The boy continued running and did not stop because of this sudden change.
But as he passed by Wop, Wop kicked him back.
"Go collect your father's body."
The boy stumbled to his feet. He glanced at Wop in fear, then turned back to look at the gangsters, only to find that they had fallen in a pool of blood. A boy of his age was searching for spoils from the gangsters.
The boy whispered, "He's not my father, he's my brother."
He returned to his brother's body and placed his hands beneath it in sorrow.
Where can he collect the body?
When people die, they are eaten, but he doesn't want to eat his brother.
The boy was desperate. He lay on top of his brother and closed his eyes.
"What are you waiting for?" asked Wop.
"Wait till you die," the boy said. "I won't eat my brother."
"I didn't let you eat it, get out of here."
Wop kicked him away and offered the choice considerately.
"Do you want to leave your brother's body intact for rats and bugs to eat, or leave it intact so that it won't be eaten?"
The boy hesitated and said, "I don't want him to be eaten."
Wop nodded, he respected the choice of the deceased's family.
Looking at the body of the man in front of him, Wop clenched his five fingers together and squeezed them hard.
A thin layer of ice condensed on the ground, and the glow of psychic energy poured into the man's body. After a brief delay, the man's body was 'exploded' from the inside, and his body exploded like dust.
"Is this edible?" Koz came to Wop with a bunch of sticks.
"Corpse starch, edible." Wop recognized at a glance what he had been eating for five years. It wasn't a good thing, but at least it tasted better than the nutritious porridge made by Fili.
Koz nodded, took out a piece of corpse starch and threw it to Fili, then picked up the rest and started chewing on it.
Fili hurriedly caught the corpse starch stick. She had never eaten anything so delicious in her life.
Even the Blood Claw Gang can't eat these things every day. Only the upper-class masters are qualified to eat them.
"So sweet." Fili munched on the corpse starch and squinted her eyes happily.
Wop frowned, snatched the starch from Fili's corpse and took a bite at the place where there were no teeth marks.
It was bland and tasteless, with the pure smell of corpse starch, so he gave it back to Fili.
Corpse starch can taste sweet, most likely due to heavy metal contamination. Fortunately, it was a false alarm, and it was just that Fili's sense of taste was damaged.
There is no need to worry about Koze, just let him eat whatever he wants. It is just right for the Primarch to eat more heavy metals to supplement nutrition.
"Let's go."
Wop called out to Koz and Fili to follow and continue on their journey.
The boy stopped dead in his tracks, his brother's body scattered all over the ground.
He looked at Wop's back and hesitated for a long time before following him.
Soon after they left, scavengers hiding in the dark rushed over and greedily shared the corpses on the ground.
"How extravagant! They don't even want the best corpses. Gangsters are the most delicious. Their meat is sweet, not astringent at all."
"Don't grab it, this piece of meat is what I like!"
"This is mine, I'll kill you!"
"Hurry, kill him! We are waiting to eat his meat!"
……
"He was following us the whole time," Coates said.
Wop: "That mutant kid? Don't worry about him. Just follow him if you want."
"Mutants?" Fili shrank her neck nervously.
"He has no hands, but he has a pair of tentacles under his sleeves, so that's why he's so limp, and that's easy to tell," Coates said.
Fili asked, "Don't you think mutants are scary?"
Coze didn't care. Wop smiled and said, "No matter how scary it is, can it be scarier than human nature? Besides, do mutants want to mutate on their own?"
A small number of people who believe in chaos do so voluntarily, but most mutants are the result of genetic mutations.
The reason why there are a large number of mutants in human society is thanks to the radiation of humans in the dark technological age.
Chapter 10 Be my son!
In the Dark Age of Technology, humans introduced alien technology into their own technology to further improve efficiency, and used alien genes to make bold modifications to the human genome, building a huge army of genetically modified humans.
As a result, by the 30 era after the end of the Age of Strife, purebred humans had almost become extinct.
Only immortals like the Emperor, who have survived from before the Dark Age of Technology, or a few remote colonies that had no contact with human society even during the Dark Age of Technology, possess pure human genes. All other humans are genetic hybrids, and the genetic similarity between two different human individuals may not be as high as that between a human in the M3 era and a fly.
It's not surprising that mutants appear in such a society. The fact that most humans can still maintain their human form is a miracle.
But it is precisely because of these alien genes that the people of the bottom nest can survive in such a difficult environment. This can also be regarded as a kind of natural selection.
"The body has been disposed of."
Koz, who has grown into a teenager, returned to the house. He had just killed several members of the Blood Claw Gang and occupied their house.
The corpses were also thrown outside and would soon be eaten by scavengers, leaving nothing behind.
"How much longer?" asked Wop.
Fili huddled in the corner.
"This is already Blood Claw Gang territory. The people you killed were Blood Claw Gang patrolmen. I don't know where the elevator is. I've never been there."
She explained tremblingly, fearing that it would arouse Wop's anger.
"It's okay, just stop here, we'll find it ourselves from now on."
Wop could understand Fili. She was just a scavenger, and bringing them to the Blood Claws' territory was already the limit. The elevator to the upper floors must be strictly controlled by the Blood Claws. If she had seen the elevator, she would not have come out alive.
Fili whispered, "Are you going upstairs?"
Koz looked at Wop. He followed Wop, and went wherever Wop went.
Wop: "I'm not a very organized person. Let's find the elevator first."
"The Blood Claws have a lot of people and they have a lot of guns," Fili warned them.
"I'm good at killing people," Coze said calmly.
"I know someone," Fili said hesitantly, "who might know how to get to the elevator."
"Why didn't you say it before?" Koz looked at her, which made her feel uneasy.
She looked at Wop, felt relieved, and took off the scarf that wrapped her tightly.
The skin on her neck was also pale, but there were a few blue scales on the pale skin.
Fili: "I'm a mutant."
Wop: "She too?"
"She's not, but she has adopted a lot of mutants."
"So you're worried that we'll discriminate against mutants, or that we'll kill them?"
Fili nodded.
Koz suddenly asked: "Then why are you telling us now?"
Fili whispered, "I think you are good people. You never killed him."
He was referring to the boy who was outside the house and had been following them for the past two days, not coming close, just following from a distance.
Wop: "Koz, go and bring him in."
Koz nodded and walked out of the room.
He returned with the boy a short while later.
The boy's eyes were filled with fear, and he stammered nervously, "I, I mean no harm, I'm just passing by."
"What's your name?" Wop asked.
"Book."
"have you eaten?"
Ben exclaimed, stunned.
"Give him a stick of corpse starch."
Koz threw the corpse starch stick to him. Ben held the corpse starch stick with both hands and said thank you softly.
Wop asked, "Am I a good person?"
Fili nodded, and Koz nodded as well.
Wop raised the scrap gun and shot the boy, who fell to the ground and did not move.
"Now?" asked Wop.
Fili's eyes were filled with fear and confusion, but Koz still nodded.
Wop shook his head: "Don't trust others easily, it might just be someone's disguise."
Curze nodded. He could see the prophecy and no one could escape his eyes.
Wop: "Filial piety is the most important virtue. Judging by the heart, not the deeds, there are no filial sons from poor families. Lust is the root of all evil. Judging by the deeds, not the heart, there are no perfect people in the world. Coze, do you understand the meaning of this sentence?"
Coz nodded, and Wop nodded to everything he said.
"I understand that you shouldn't blame others for things that didn't happen."
"Get up."
Wop kicked Ben, who wolfed down the corpse starch and climbed to his feet.
The bullet missed him and hit the wall, glancing at his ear. He fell to the ground subconsciously.
After finding out he wasn't dead, Ben began to eat with peace of mind. The people in the bottom nest were always hungry, so even if he died, he wanted to die well-fed.
Wop: "Are you full?"
Ben nodded, but he was never full, so anything to eat was good.
Wop: "Take your hands out."
Ben didn't hesitate for too long, letting the curled and folded tentacles extend from his sleeves. His tentacles were twice as long as a normal person's arms and longer than he was tall.
"Give him another one," Wop said to Cozee.
Coz took out a stick of corpse starch and handed it to Ben, who thanked him and caught it with his tentacles.
But when Koz's fingertips touched the tentacles, Koz's body suddenly froze...
He saw the boy's future. He saw a tall warrior in blue-black armor kneeling before him along with countless other warriors in the same armor.
The warrior bore no resemblance to the boy, but Curze recognized him as Ben.
Wop: "What did you see?"
