The little girl, who had been caught by Chopper, came running back as soon as she landed and plopped herself on his neck; the little boy, who was tired from chasing the fox tail, also came over and hung on his other arm.
The two little ones tugged at his hair and giggled.
This man, who could shatter a continent with a single punch, dared not use even a fraction of his strength at this moment.
"Daddy," the little girl riding on his shoulders suddenly tilted her head and asked in a childish voice, "why don't you ever go to work? All your friends' dads go to work every day."
Renn lay on the grass, gazing at the azure sky above, and lazily replied:
"Because...all of Dad's chores have been snatched up and done by others."
The little girl gave a half-understanding "oh," then, satisfied, tugged at his hair and urged the "warhorse" beneath her to spur it on.
"I think you're getting more and more unruly!" Gion walked over with her hands on her hips, intending to give her daughter a good talking-to. But when she saw her daughter's smug little face as she nestled against her father's neck, she couldn't bring herself to be serious.
Renn wasn't annoyed and let the two little ones fuss over him.
The afternoon sun was warm and cozy, mingling with the unrestrained giggles of the two children, Lily's long and drawn-out lullaby, and Hancock's murmurs of "Am I beautiful or not?"
All this noise and commotion made Ryan feel very warm.
He squinted, lost in thought.
If only life could continue like this forever...
It seems pretty good.
However, this idea had barely taken shape when this rare moment of leisure was ruthlessly shattered.
"Ray! En!!"
A furious roar, fueled by gritted teeth, came from the gate of the mansion.
Suddenly, Smoker, exuding a murderous aura, stormed into the door. His face, so black it looked like he'd been owed wages by Ryan for years.
"He's hiding here slacking off again, just like always!"
The little girl on Ryan's neck blinked her big eyes and exclaimed "Oh!" as if suddenly realizing something.
"So... Uncle Smoker is the one who does the chores for Dad!"
"..."
A vein suddenly bulged on Smoker's forehead.
And so, under Smoker's "escort" tactics, this naval admiral, who was known for his laziness, was forced to deal with a mountain of documents for an entire afternoon.
It wasn't until the sun set that Ryan finally had a moment to spare from the endless pile of official business.
After leaving the office, he didn't rush home. Instead, he walked alone up the deserted stone steps to the highest point of the Marine Headquarters.
Standing here, the boundless sea, now reconnected, stretches out before me. At this moment, it is being bathed in a gentle golden-red hue by the slowly sinking sunset.
He stood quietly, looking down at the sea that he had personally "suppressed".
In a daze, his thoughts drifted back to that afternoon many years ago.
Who could have imagined that from that desperate afternoon to this newly born sea beneath his feet, he would have come so far, step by step.
A gentle sea breeze swept by, fluttering the hem of his marshal's cloak.
Raine slowly raised his head, gazing at the slowly setting sun, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously turned up.
He spoke softly, as if addressing the vast ocean, or perhaps as addressing the boy who, many years ago, squatted in an alleyway, vomiting uncontrollably.
"This is what the ocean should look like."

When I typed "The End," I stared at the screen for a long time.
I wanted to take this opportunity to write a closing statement, but my fingers hovered over the keyboard while my mind was blank. I felt a strange sense of bewilderment, as if I had just woken up from a long dream and suddenly realized I was in another world.
From the first word written on October 18, 2025, to today, it has been exactly 247 days and 168 million words.
This achievement, compared to many other authors on Qidian, is probably quite insignificant.
But for me, it carries immense weight; it's the first book I've truly finished writing in my life.
Moreover, I didn't take a single day off during those 247 days.
There were bound to be some mishaps along the way: once I forgot to set a timer and accidentally sent out the next day's chapter ahead of schedule; I also had to have minor surgery in the middle of it all. But even so, I gritted my teeth and refused to let the updates stop, not even for a single day.
The so-called "account nurturing" is roughly based on this principle: letting readers genuinely see your determination and action. That way, when you publish your next book, as long as the subject matter still appeals to them, they will still be willing to accompany you for a while longer.
Now that it's truly coming to an end, looking back on the journey I've taken, I belatedly realize that I seem to have accomplished something quite remarkable.
To be honest, when this book was first released, I really didn't have high hopes for its performance.
The reason is simple: the beginning was indeed poorly written.
When I started writing, the books I referenced were all four, five, or six years old, and their formulas were inevitably outdated now.
The deviation in thinking led to a large number of unappealing "pretending to be a fool" scenes in the early stages, as well as the training camp phase that even I found lacking in enjoyment when I looked back at it.
These obvious flaws certainly deterred many readers who clicked in with high expectations. By the time I truly realized there was a major problem with the pacing, it seemed too late to correct it, as a large ship is difficult to turn around.
Fortunately, I wasn't willing to let it end so poorly. So in the later parts of the story, I tried my best to salvage it, adjust the pacing, and write the climax and ensemble cast that I truly wanted to depict.
To my own surprise, this book, which was full of ups and downs, miraculously achieved the status of a "high-quality" book thanks to everyone's support along the way!
Here, I want to sincerely thank all the readers once again! Really, without your daily updates, subscriptions, and monthly tickets, this book would never have achieved what it has today.
There are also readers who are used to quietly accompanying their readers.
I remember them all, and every time I see a familiar ID, I silently cast a few more monthly votes.
Although we had never met before, it felt as if we were old friends who had known each other for many years.
This is probably what it means to have "long-standing spiritual acquaintances".
Returning to this book, as a long-time reader who has followed One Piece for so many years, there are too many regrets and unresolved issues in the original work, and many people who shouldn't have met such an end...
I can't help but think: how wonderful it would be if someone could appear sooner, reach out and pull them out of those inevitable tragedies one by one.
And so, Raine came into being.
When I finished writing this book, seeing all those characters who had suffered so much in the original story now find a peaceful and warm home under my pen, I honestly felt a sense of satisfaction that nothing could buy.
That's why, in these last few days of writing, more than the relief of finishing, I felt a sense of reluctance to let go.
The characters in the book felt real, living alongside me through this entire period of time. Now, as I formally bid them farewell, the moment I put pen to paper, I felt far more reluctant to let them go than I had imagined.
Fortunately, I finally gave them an ending that even I was very satisfied with.
Actually, as I write this, I feel that this closing statement is far less satisfying than the ending of the novel itself.
Before it was finished, I always felt like I had so much to say, and I wanted to tell you all at once. But when it came time to put pen to paper, those words seemed to have been conspired together, all stuck in my throat, and I couldn't get them out properly.
But then I thought about it again, and as mentioned before, since we've been communicating for so long, there's no need to say everything.
A well-placed amount of white space might actually be better.
Finally, let me also give a shout-out to my new book.
The new book is expected to be released in early July. Please allow me a few days to relax and write some more drafts.
I initially had ambitious plans to write a "simultaneous time travel" novel, but as soon as I came up with the outline, my editor, Chuixue, and several other big names in this genre strongly discouraged me.
Listen to advice and you'll eat your fill; I have no choice but to honestly rethink my approach.
So I wrote the beginning of each of the three main worlds I had envisioned at the time—One Piece, Dragon Raja, and Harry Potter—and sent them to test drafts. In the end, only the Dragon Raja one was approved.
So the new book will most likely be a Dragon Raja fanfiction. The beginning is already written, and I think it's... pretty good.
With the lessons and growth I've learned from this book of over a million words, I'm determined to put all my effort into my new book, avoiding all the pitfalls it exposed, and striving to grab everyone's attention right from the start.
Therefore, I shamelessly request that you all continue to support me and the new book, just as you supported this book.
The story of this book truly ends here.
But our story is far from over.
The journey through the martial arts world is long, see you again with the new book!
Lastly, as is customary on Qidian, I'll dedicate a few books as a tribute. The following list is in no particular order; they are all excellent books.
The Demon Hunter's Notes of the Foggy City
The Mysterious Card Maker: A Night Parade of One Hundred Ghosts at the Start
"A Person in the Dragon Clan, Bound to the Naruto Counterattack System"
America: The Cremator
"Card Master of the Crossover Network: I Have a Compendium of Gods and Demons"
"Man Who Covers the Sky, Proving the Dao with Talismans"
My new book has been released; please support it!
The new book "Dragon Raja: Starting with the Azure Dragon Fruit" has been officially released!
Synopsis: Lin Yuan, after eating the Azure Dragon Fruit, unexpectedly enters the world of the Dragon Clan.
Here, the dragon represents the pinnacle of power and strength, and is a destiny that brings despair and destruction.
But Lin Yuan discovered an astonishing secret: the blood of these high and mighty dragons was actually the fuel to awaken the Azure Dragon Fruit within him.
Devouring, reviving, transforming... He feeds on dragon blood and ascends the long stairway to godhood step by step.
When the appointed day arrived, the sky-covering dragon parted the wind and rain, lowered its golden eyes, which shone like the sun and moon, and looked down at the trembling kings below.
Lin Yuan looked utterly astonished: "No... you winged lizards are also called dragons?"
This book is extremely friendly to those who haven't read the original works! Not having read *One Piece* or *Dragon Raja* won't affect your reading experience at all. Please support me, even if it's just by making a small investment to earn some coins!
The most important thing during the new book period is to keep reading. I would really appreciate it if you, dear readers, could spend just a few seconds each day to go to the last page and read it for me. It really matters to me.
Let me explain why the book was deleted and republished previously.
When the new book was first released, I tried to achieve the so-called "perfect new book period" by loading 20,000 words into the database. However, this backfired and caused abnormal data for the work. In order to avoid affecting subsequent recommendations, I discussed with the editor and decided to re-release it. I also took this opportunity to optimize the opening plot.
Sorry to keep you all waiting. *bows*
