After some deliberation, the company finally decided on its own ideas.
"Commander, I'm going. I have a feeling that if I don't go, I'll regret it for the rest of my life." Enterprise said this with a determined expression.
"Alright! Then it's settled!"
Upon seeing the company's statement, Rob immediately decided to join the fight, treating it as a way to help his sister-in-law. "Now, let's discuss other issues."
"Oh? Commander, it seems you have quite a few ideas. I'd like to hear them first."
At this point, Zhenhai suddenly became interested, and she gently rubbed her legs with her slender hands, which seemed to be one of her little habits.
"I just thought about it, and actually, to stop Sakura Empire's actions, there's no need to go directly to the front lines. We can just raid their base, and I don't believe Sakura Empire can still launch an attack on Eagle Union's base."
“Commander, your idea is indeed very good, but in fact, we have the same problem as White Eagle. We are also short of manpower, and our problem is even more serious.” Zhenhai expressed her disapproval of Rob’s plan.
"Please explain in detail, Sister Zhenhai."
Zhenhai gently rubbed his leg with one hand, picked up the teacup with the other, and took a small sip.
She said softly, "The Eastern Empire's coastline is too long, but its defenses are too weak. Although I don't deny that Miss Enterprise is very capable, extremely capable, one can't fight against many. Before we have enough ability to protect ourselves here, I don't recommend that the Eastern Empire jump out. To be honest, we are indeed somewhat weak against Sakura Empire. So we need Eagle Union to help us draw enough attention."
“I understand. This time we’ll act directly with the White Eagles. Anyway, Sakura Empire doesn’t know I’m in Donghuang now. Even if we get beaten up by Enterprise again like last time, they’ll only blame the White Eagles. As for the port area, we can pull our defenses out a little bit, just a little bit. Let Sakura Empire think that this is all the response Donghuang can give the White Eagles, and lower their guard here.”
Zhenhai remained silent, only glancing at Luo Bo with a slight glint in his eyes before lowering his head to sip his tea. After a moment, he casually remarked, "Commander, the White Eagles are only short of manpower, not money."
Rob suddenly realized, "Oh right, there's no such thing as working for free in this world. The White Eagle Navy is a big spender; they can't afford to let me off without taking a cut."
I opened the communication with Saratoga, and there was my lovely little Sara enjoying her breakfast.
"Dean, we've decided to go and help. It's just me and the company going anyway. But Dean, I have a small request."
"What request? Sarah, I have a feeling you're up to no good."
Although Rob agreed to help, giving me another trump card, I still feel like Rob's face is a bit too irritating.
Tsk, I should have knocked him on the head a few more times back then.
"It's like this, Dean. You might not know, but Donghuang's financial situation is quite tight. So, we might have to charge a service fee."
"Robo, are you alright? Are you trying to get money from me?"
"Dean, you don't know, this place is poor. The entire port area isn't even as big as the academy's dormitory area. The buildings are all decades old. The ships in the port area have to go out and perform for money!"
Rob started complaining about being poor, saying, "Making money isn't shameful."
"Stop!" Saratoga reached out to stop Rob's shameless pleading for poverty. "Just say it, how much?"
Rob glanced at the silver coins needed for the company's upgrade and transformation, then thought about the development of the port area and decided to make a big decision.
However, in reality, he underestimated White Eagle's financial resources, or rather, he had never seen money in his life.
"2000 million worth of supplies!"
Rob gave himself away the moment he opened his mouth, Saratoga thought to himself, "What a sucker."
"Why is it so expensive? Sarah can't get that much budget from headquarters right now."
She decided to trick Rob, since he had disturbed Sarah's sister's precious sleep.
"1500 million, that's the lowest we can go. Any lower and we'll lose money."
"Hmm~" Saratoga pondered for a moment, then seemed to grit her teeth. "Fine! I'll give it to you when you come over. Saratoga is definitely going to be left with nothing now."
The communication ended, and both sides felt they had gained something. So, who lost?
Chapter Twenty-Five: Night Talk
After finishing his "business" with Saratoga, Rob went up to the roof. It was a beautiful night; not a single cloud graced the sky. The dark firmament was dotted with glittering stars, and the Milky Way stretched across the night, captivating all who beheld it.
Rob was so engrossed in watching that he lay down on the roof, gazing at the starry sky and letting his mind wander. It felt as if he were already among the stars, traveling through the universe.
He didn't know how much time had passed. A sound of footsteps startled Rob awake. Rob sat up and turned around to see that the company had somehow found him.
"Commander, so you've been here all this time. No wonder I couldn't find you anywhere."
Rob patted him on the shoulder, gesturing for Enterprise to sit next to him. Enterprise didn't care whether the ceiling was clean or not (Robo washed all her clothes anyway), so she came over, lifted her hair, and sat down next to Rob.
"The stars are so beautiful tonight. It would be even better if we could get closer to see them." Rob lay back down and continued to look at the starry sky. Such a beautiful night sky was truly a rare sight.
"Want to take a closer look? Commander, would you like me to take you for a spin?" Enterprise laughed, teasing Rob. "But tonight's night sky is truly something else."
Perhaps finding sitting and stargazing tiring, Enterprise simply lay down like Rob, the two of them lying close together. Then, Enterprise seemed to feel unwell and sat up again.
"Commander, help me, I'm pressing down on your hair."
Rob reached out and lifted Qigong's long, silvery-white hair, then covered her with it after she lay down. "It's nice, it can also be used as a blanket, so you don't catch a cold."
"Commander, stop fooling around!" Enterprise brushed the hair covering her body away, a few strands brushing past Rob's nose, tickling him.
"Oh dear, seeing this starry sky, if it were another me, I'd probably say things like, 'All the light in the sky is stars, and all the light on the sea is the enemy.' But she did ask the right question: When will the war end? We're clearly in different worlds, so why are we making the same mistakes?"
"Perhaps no one learns from their mistakes. Businesses, tell me, when will people finally set their sights on the vast starry sky?"
"I don't know. Commander, you can think about that yourself."
There's a saying that goes something like this: The human soul should not be bound by gravity.
"Shouldn't they be bound by gravity?" The company repeated Rob's words thoughtfully.
"Yes, look, now we have such unreasonable energy sources as Rubik's Cube technology, yet everyone is still fighting to the death on this tiny patch of Earth. Even with external enemies like the Sirens? Oh, I forgot, some people have already defected. Why can't we look up at this vast universe? Humanity's journey should be to the stars and the sea!" Rob said excitedly, stretching out his right hand towards the sky, as if trying to grasp the heavens.
"Commander, if that day ever comes, would you be willing to take me with you?" Enterprise turned to look at Rob, seemingly trying to find the answer in Rob's expression.
"Of course! I've said it before, I'll be with you until the end of my life."
Enterprise smiled happily. "Commander, there's something else."
"what?"
"I'm hungry, I want a midnight snack! Commander, make me a midnight snack."
"Okay! I'll make you a midnight snack."
The next day, as Rob was handling business in the command room, Yixian walked in with new documents.
"Thank you, just leave it here. And these are all taken care of. Please accept them." Luo Bo looked up, saw it was Yi Xian, and continued to work on his tasks.
"Commander, did something good happen to Ms. Enterprise? I just ran into her in the corridor, and she seemed very happy."
"Ah, something good must have happened."
During his break, Rob went to watch Shuanghai practice his skills and pet the panda. However, this time Rob saw someone unexpected.
The company was striking the same pose as Shuang Hai, but for some reason, the company's pose just looked a little... comical.
"Hello Ninghai, Pinghai. And what's this company doing here?" Luo Bo was unsure what kind of performance art the company was putting on.
"Oh, I saw them practicing kung fu, and I just wanted to try it out." Enterprise stopped her stance when she saw Rob, feeling a little embarrassed at being bumped into by her commander.
"That's right! Ninghai, does anyone around here know how to use a sword? You know, a one-handed sword." Seeing QiCai learning kung fu, Luo Bo suddenly had a flash of inspiration. Wasn't this a perfect opportunity to give QiCai some close-combat skills?
“Sister Yixian knows it. And her boxing skills are the best here,” Pinghai replied.
To be honest, Rob was a little confused. He couldn't quite connect Yi Xian's seemingly delicate and frail appearance with martial arts skills. He wondered if Yi Xian had some kind of invincible iron fist or something similar.
"Does Miss Enterprises still have a sword?" Ning Hai asked.
"Yes." Enterprise glanced at Rob, and seeing Rob nod, she pulled out her beam saber from behind her back, and with a whoosh, a blue light blade popped out.
"Huh? What's this?" Ning Hai really wanted to say that the Star Wars set was next door, and they didn't play with the Force here, so what was this thing?
"Wow! Can I take a look?" Pinghai didn't think too much about it, and even wanted to borrow the company to play with.
"No, this is part of my ship's equipment. It won't light up if I take it off my hand."
The commotion caught Yixian's attention, and she moved gracefully over to see what was going on.
"Sister Yixian, look! So Miss Enterprise has a sword!" Pinghai, with his sharp eyes, spotted Yixian from afar and immediately called her over to see the novelty.
"Yixian, you've come at the right time. Pinghai said you also know swordsmanship?" As soon as Luo Bo saw that the person in question had arrived, he brought up the matter. "Why don't you teach Qigong a couple of moves? Qigong has this skill but has never used it."
"Commander, don't listen to their nonsense. I only have a little knowledge of it, and I would never dare to teach Miss Enterprise. However, if the Commander needs it, I can give Miss Enterprise some pointers."
"Then it's settled. This problem has been bothering me for a long time. You have no idea how much we suffered after the company got too close to Sakura Empire."
“Since the commander requires it, then Yi Xian will do her utmost.”
"Then I'll leave everything to you." With that, Rob pulled his white dog and bowed to Yi Xian, as if to formally become her disciple.
Chapter Twenty-Six: Old Acquaintances
For the next few days, Luo Bo would drag Qi Baishi to learn swordsmanship from Yi Xian every day. Qi Baishi only had enthusiasm for three days; after that, she would start to get lazy. If Luo Bo didn't drag her along, she would dare to skip class.
Yi Xian was both exasperated and amused by her student. Qi Ji was exceptionally talented, but prone to laziness. She could learn anything after being taught only once, but if you asked her to settle down and practice the basics, she would give up in less than ten minutes.
Finally, Rob had no other choice but to dedicate some of his time each day, doing nothing but guarding the company. After all, the main enemy at this stage was the Sakura Empire, where every ship was armed with a sword. Without melee skills, they'd be easy prey for dragons to charge at them.
At this point, the White Eagles...
"Has it been confirmed that it's either the AF or the Aleutians? The safe waters northwest of PH Port have been attacked? There are also reports of attacks southwest of PH Port? Ah!! How did it all happen at once! Saratoga is overwhelmed!" Saratoga looked at the intelligence reports in front of her, her head spinning. "Seriously, if MK7 could be completed by now, she could lead the fleet. The chances of winning this battle would be much greater. But there's nothing we can do; thinking about things we can't do is useless. Luckily, Saratoga had a backup plan!"
Rob, who was supervising the company's training, suddenly received a communication from Saratoga. He guessed that war was about to break out there.
"Dean Saratoga, I thought it would be the middle of the night where you are. Is there any emergency?"
"We've got a good idea of what's going on with Sakura Empire. It's probably either AF or the Aleutian Islands. Choose one to go to first. Enterprise and Hornet are already in the Aleutian Islands. AF also has people there to meet you. The supplies you need are with AF as well."
"I choose AF. How much time do I have left?"
"At most one week."
"Alright, I'll fly there in the next couple of days. Make sure to let AF know, I don't want to be caught out by our own side." Rob thought for a moment and figured he probably wouldn't make it by boat at this time.
"No problem, you absolutely have to get there! Saratoga's already tied up here; the Sirens have launched an attack, and it looks like there's more to come. If I weren't leading the fleet there this time, I wouldn't be bothering you, you're such a pain." With that, Saratoga hung up the call. Was she really worried about losing those 1500 million?
Seeing the situation, the company had already rushed over. After ending the call, Rob gently tapped her head. "Why are you slacking off again? Alright, no more training today, go pack your things. We're heading to AF. It's been so long since you've been on the battlefield, don't get rusty."
"AF? I understand, I'll be ready." The moment the battlefield was mentioned, Enterprise's previous lazy demeanor vanished instantly. Rob couldn't help but admire the seamless transition.
A few days later, Rob and the company landed at AF airport on a private jet.
As soon as he stepped off the plane, he saw a familiar figure waving at him. Rob paused for a moment, then quickly stepped off the plane.
"Why is it you?"
"Hmph! I'm in charge here now!" The girl in front of him tilted her head back, looking smug. Her coat was open, revealing her graceful figure wrapped in black stockings. Rob even wondered if she could walk in those high heels.
"Commander, who is this?" Enterprise followed him down and noticed that her commander seemed to know the other person quite well, so she asked Rob.
"Oh, this is New Jersey. I met her when I was a freshman at the academy, so we're old acquaintances. She was in the same tactical training group as me back then."
"That's right, I am the biggest and strongest Black Dragon—New Jersey." New Jersey put one hand on his hip, revealing his usual confident smile.
The company looked at New Jersey with slight shock, thinking that the White Eagle was doomed sooner or later, and what to do about this most advanced battleship that looked a bit clumsy?
"Wow! This is the other Enterprise Saratoga mentioned?" New Jersey walked up to Enterprise, looked her over carefully, and shook her hand. "This time, it's all up to you guys. My MK7 isn't finished yet, it's a real headache. Otherwise, I would definitely rush in and smash through the enemy, letting them see the power of the strongest battleship!"
"You're still the same as before, unchanged." Looking at the goofy battleship in front of him, Rob's thoughts drifted back to two years ago.
I was paired with her for tactical drills, and Rob really suffered. Her tactics were something most people couldn't keep up with; it was all about recklessness. In the end, Rob simply fought fire with fire: if you're going to be reckless, I'll switch bases. (My older brother's tactics were a hundred years ahead of their time.)
Over time, the two became acquainted. However, the following year, New Jersey left the academy, apparently to take charge of defense in the AF region.
"By the way, Saratoga said she left the supplies for me here?"
"That's right, that's right. By the way, Rob, what do you need so many supplies for?"
"You don't know, Donghuang is short of money. Sigh, I can't talk about it anymore, it just makes me more and more heartbroken."
"But there aren't many supplies. Not even enough to build a ship."
"???" Rob suddenly froze, realizing that he had been tricked by Saratoga.
"Hey? Rob, you suddenly look terrible. Are you airsick?"
"It's alright, take me to see the supplies. I need them now." Rob couldn't possibly tell her he'd been tricked, or this simpleton would laugh at him until Christmas.
"Use it now? AF doesn't have shipyards. You can't build one if you want."
"It's not about construction; I'll show you something new later." Rob didn't intend to hide anything from New Jersey. Back on Pearl Island, the old man had said that while the people at headquarters weren't necessarily trustworthy, the ships were definitely reliable.
"Is it that thing...that thing called Gundam?!" New Jersey suddenly jumped in front of Robo and grabbed him with both hands. Robo realized for the first time that someone could actually create a shiny eye effect.
"Yes, yes, let go first." Suddenly feeling the gaze from the company next to him, Rob quickly asked New Jersey to let go of him. How come this guy looks even more foolish after two years?
"Enterprise, make preparations. According to the ship's specifications, it needs to be upgraded." Rob decided to take advantage of the period before the major battle to carry out a round of upgrades and replacements.
"Renovation?" The company was completely bewildered; they hadn't been told about this before they came.
