"What exactly is that... 'monster'?"
Rorschach's expression remained unchanged, a smile playing on his lips, his tone nonchalant.
"That's Dagon, the king of the Deep from ancient times, the ancestor of nearly ten million Deep on Earth, and the 'god' worshipped by the hybrids in Innsmouth."
"Legend has it that He came to this planet 300 million years ago with His master, the Great Cthulhu, and has lived and multiplied ever since. His history is even longer than that of Abrahamic religions. In a sense, He is the true 'god'."
"And there are at least hundreds of 'gods' like Dagon on this planet, and the vast majority of them are 'malicious' towards us humans."
At this point, Rorschach slowly turned around and, together with the others around him, looked at the land that originally belonged to Innsmouth. His mind subconsciously replayed the scene from the previous night when the Hydra hunted down the fleeing Dagon's consort, the 'Mother Hydra,' and the elite Deep Ones guarding her.
That was truly... a thoroughly enjoyable feast (of slaughter).
Thinking of this, Luo Xia patted the policewoman's stiff shoulder and said earnestly:
"Welcome to the real world, Miss Jill Valentine. Now, do you understand why humanity tries to seize the 'authority' that belongs to God?"
P.S.: There's also a lineage theory regarding the Father God Dagon and the Mother Goddess Hydra. There aren't fixed 'Dagon' and 'Hydra'; instead, the strongest male and female of the Deep One race hold these positions. If one dies, the second strongest takes their place, a tradition that continues to this day. Synopsis of *We Come From the Ark of the Future!* (from P.S. Time): Kal'tsit: "I'm so stupid, really. I only knew he was from the future, but I never imagined he could cause so much trouble." No one expected that the young man who suddenly descended from the skies above Chernobog, claiming to be from the future, would possess such a bizarre ability! He could bring people from the future to the present! And because of this, as he brought more and more people from the future, many things on Rhodes Island began to become complicated. Ifrit: "Saria! Hemer! This time, it's my turn to protect you!" (Raises shield and musket) Jessica: "Franka-senpai... Liskarm-senpai... I... will never shed another tear." (Picks up two guns, covered in blood) Lappland: "Texas... I only hope you can live a good life." (Silently leaves with dual swords) Talulah: "You got away last time, this time, it's time to settle the score, Wei Yanwu!" (Holds Crimson Blade, smiles) ... Kal'tsit: "What exactly happened?! Tell me! What happened in the future?!" Chen Qi: "Don't ask me! I'm busy! Aunt Melansa and Aunt Shining are also clamoring to come! I can't stop them!"

Chapter 412 We are police officers, we are not afraid.
"Human beings are a sad species that will be swallowed up by 'history' if they don't keep progressing."
"In order to ensure the survival of the human race and the continuation of 'human reason,' sometimes we have to do things that are unconventional, even if it means raising a butcher's knife against the gods."
“Jill Valentine, I greatly admire your courage in the face of danger and your kindness and sense of responsibility towards the weak. If you want to truly understand the hidden truths of this world's dark side and live a clear and meaningful life, then come to me. I will always keep my doors open for you.”
With the astonishing remarks she had heard two weeks ago still echoing in her mind, Jill Valentine slowly opened her eyes from her sleep.
In the daze of just emerging from the dream, she saw an evil 'creature' with an indescribable appearance squatting at the head of her bed, staring intently at her with a cold and sinister single eye.
That single eye, devoid of any humanity or emotion, was so enormous, pale and lifeless, taking up a full four-fifths of the bizarre creature's head. It looked deformed and grotesque, involuntarily stirring a sense of dread and disgust within one's heart.
Seemingly sensing Jill's awakening, the terrifying monster let out a series of sharp, piercing, and eerie howls while shaking its long, twisted neck, as if mocking the woman's weakness or performing some unique pre-hunt ritual.
Upon suddenly seeing the terrifying and sinister creature before him, Jill Valentine was startled. His right hand instinctively reached under his pillow, and almost as soon as he touched the reassuringly cold object, he nimbly rolled to his feet and moved to the other side of the bed, away from the alien monster. Without even looking, he pulled the trigger of his sidearm.
'boom! '
'Bang bang bang bang bang! '
The magazine was emptied cleanly, and the orange-yellow bullets accurately struck the one-eyed monster crouching by the bedside, smashing its evil and cold eye to pieces amidst its incessant hoarse howls.
Panting heavily with tension, Jill, who was still subconsciously pulling the trigger, finally had time to carefully observe the details of the one-eyed monster. Upon seeing it, a bitter smile appeared on her face.
Jill tossed the still-smoking revolver onto the floor, slumped weakly onto her bed, and let out a soft sigh.
"I need to buy a new desk lamp after get off work tonight. At this rate, I don't know if my advance salary will last until next month."
After lying quietly on the bed for five minutes, Jill slowly straightened up, reached out and pressed the alarm clock, which was still 'hoarsely roaring,' to quiet the noisy room. Then, dejected, she walked towards the apartment's bathroom.
Two weeks have passed since the 'Innsmouth Hurricane Incident', and thanks to his outstanding performance on the night of the hurricane (as recounted by Paul, Nyaruko, and others), Jill Valentine has begun to integrate into the Arkham Police Department system.
Although she wasn't very familiar with her colleagues, basic normal communication went smoothly, and the Arkham Police Department was very welcoming of a colleague who could confront 'mythical creatures' head-on. Even though Jill was a woman, she was still better than those pampered soldiers from big cities who were so scared of seeing 'deep creatures' for the first time that they wet their pants.
Such fragile people cannot survive in Arkham. Most of them will die, and those who don't will end up in a sanatorium on the outskirts of the city, never to regain their senses again, becoming insane and useless.
Jill Valentine felt herself increasingly leaning towards the latter, which was definitely not good news.
Stretching her body, which was slightly stiff from poor sleep, the policewoman went to the bedside and closed the window that was flapping incessantly due to the heavy rain and strong winds outside, shutting out the pattering rain.
Passing by the temporary information board (with photos, information, and news records of criminals connected by red lines) on the dormitory wall, Jill, wearing cotton slippers, pushed open a half-closed door and entered the apartment's washroom.
Turning on the dim light, the policewoman lowered her head and leaned over the sink, staring at the leaky faucet dripping water drop by drop. The crisp, rhythmic sound of the liquid hitting the faucet always reminded her of some less pleasant scenes.
A fish-headed, human-bodied hybrid, the sound of pattering footsteps, a deep, wild bark, pairs of dazed eyes overflowing with madness and murderous intent, and finally, a massive storm that stretched to the heavens and swept everything away.
"Maybe I really should see Mr. Rorschach to help with my psychological issues."
With a wry smile, Jill shook her head, scooped up some water from the pool, and splashed it on her face, letting the cool liquid invigorate her somewhat dejected spirit.
As she rubbed her smooth face and recalled the suspicious points in the cases she had been in charge of recently, just as Jill was about to reach for a towel on the shelf next to her, her clear sapphire blue eyes, through the water droplets on her long eyelashes, vaguely saw a bizarre and fantastical world.
Color is meaningless, and there is no distinction between straight lines and curves. Everything is distorted and abnormal, all mixed together—evil, filth, and twisted. Even the legendary hell cannot compare to the world before her eyes.
Jill paused awkwardly for a second as she reached for the towel, then casually grabbed it and began vigorously wiping her face. When she looked up again, the bizarre world had vanished, and the world before her had returned to normal.
With a quiet sigh of relief, the policewoman forced herself to forget everything she had just seen. She took off her only remaining white sports vest and threw it into the bamboo basket next to the sink. Swaying her proud figure, she turned and left the washroom, heading towards the wardrobe not far away.
She donned a white shirt, changed into her police uniform, reloaded her pistol, slung it across her waist, and finally put on a peaked cap bearing the Arkham Police Department insignia. The short-haired beauty who had previously exuded a hint of vulnerability had vanished, replaced by a spirited, capable, and dashing steel rose.
Jill straightened the wrinkles in her police uniform and adjusted the brim of her police hat before picking up the black umbrella by the door and slowly pushing it open.
I walked towards the entrance of the Arkham Police Station, where the rain had subsided somewhat.
Before she even officially entered the door, she heard a slightly panicked middle-aged man's voice near the police station entrance.
"What I'm about to say...don't be afraid."
The middle-aged man's voice sounded somewhat broken, whether from nervousness or from recent strenuous exercise. As his voice faded, another, more familiar, steady male voice followed – that of James Gordon, the acting commissioner of the Arkham Police Department.
Since Chief Smith was injured and hospitalized, the middle-aged man had been in charge of all affairs at the Arkham Police Department. His voice was calm, as if he wanted to reassure the somewhat panicked man from before.
"Please rest assured, Mr. Delapour, we are police officers, we are not afraid."

Chapter 413 Widows and Orphans
"I'll say it again! I'm not kidding! I really saw it!"
Hearing the loud shouting coming from the interrogation room, Jill, who was warming up with a coffee by the police station's public coffee machine, looked up in confusion. She bent the hand that wasn't holding the coffee and nudged her coffee-drinking partner next to her with her elbow—Matt, a middle-aged officer who had been assigned by Acting Chief Gordon to mentor the new recruits.
Sensing the commotion, Matt swallowed the slightly hot coffee that was scalding his throat and gave Jill a puzzled look. Jill, seeing this, raised her chin, gesturing towards the interrogation room not far away from where a commotion was coming from, and returned the same puzzled look.
"Oh, that." Matt, realizing what his new partner was asking, calmly took a bite of the sugary and calorie-filled donut, then pointed with his coffee cup toward the increasingly loud interrogation room and quietly told her what he knew.
"The person talking to the boss is Mr. Delapour, the owner of an old manor on the outskirts of the city. His ancestors were once a very prestigious family in Arkham, which lasted for hundreds of years. But for some reason, they suddenly declined. I heard that they were wiped out decades ago, and only one son left the United States to live in England across the ocean."
"About a year ago, he suddenly returned to Arkham from England and began renovating the old manor belonging to the De La Pour family. It wasn't until two weeks ago, just a few days before you reported to the Arkham Police Station, that it was completely finished and he officially moved in."
Listening to Matt's information, Jill nodded, then asked with some doubt, "So what did this 'master' do today? Did someone break into his manor to steal something?"
"Not a thief. He has over a dozen servants at his estate, and several guards he brought from England. Nobody dares to mess with him." Stuffing the last donut into his mouth and swallowing a cup of hot coffee, Matt patted his increasingly large belly contentedly as he whispered in a deliberately mysterious tone:
“I heard from Mary at the front desk that this ‘gentleman’ seems to have been having nightmares for a week straight, and he is convinced that a hideous and vicious-looking man in a tattered black cloak, holding a bloodstained shepherd’s stick, is lurking in his manor and is eyeing his life.”
Matt seemed to shrug helplessly at this point, complaining in a somewhat troubled tone:
“He had called the police some time ago. At that time, we believed Mr. Delapour and even assigned a few people to the manor to search for evidence and protect his safety. But after guarding it for more than ten days, we found nothing, let alone any strange people, except for two policemen who were bitten by the old man’s cat.”
“Jill, you know our police station has a special situation; we're always short-staffed. After one last search of the manor to make sure nothing was amiss, we withdrew our officers to handle other more important matters. But who knew that just a few days later, he'd come back with another report. It's a real headache…”
Shaking his head helplessly, the middle-aged police officer Matt poured another cup of fragrant coffee from the coffee machine sponsored by the shop manager, who wished to remain anonymous, and took a small, blissful sip.
This is a recent perk; Matt wouldn't have dared to dream of it before.
That Doctor Rorschach was truly a generous gentleman. Not only did he sponsor a large sum of money for the Arkham Police Department, relieving everyone of their financial worries, but he also helped procure more advanced and powerful weapons and equipment. He even bought more than a dozen cars as police vehicles and purchased a whole row of houses near the Arkham Police Department as dormitories and rest areas for the officers.
Compared to that kind Doctor, the Arkham municipal government was a bunch of stingy vampires, penny-pinchers. The local government was not even as good as an outsider, which really chilled the hearts of hundreds of police officers throughout the bureau.
While grumbling about his boss's boss's boss, Matt sipped his hot coffee with a smile, preparing for his day's patrol. Today, he was going to patrol the neighboring village of Dunwich with Jill; it was a long journey, so he had to be on his toes.
Just as the middle-aged police officer was hesitating about whether to get a third cup of coffee, a new situation arose in the interrogation room.
The solid wood door to the Arkham Police Station interrogation room, which had only been replaced a few days prior, was suddenly flung open with a bang. A white-haired man in a suit and tie, dressed impeccably, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, with his hair neatly combed and sporting an elegant mustache, stormed out, shouting loudly in a thick London accent as he went.
"How rude! How rude! You guys are going too far! I've put up with you for too long!"
"You've all been laughing at me, it hasn't stopped!"
"You never believed me from the beginning, you thought I was lying, that I was a crazy old liar!"
"If my son were still alive! If my son were still alive... If my son were still alive..."
The white-haired middle-aged man who was roaring loudly seemed to have thought of something sad. The manic expression on his face gradually calmed down, and even became somewhat sad. He became somewhat listless.
He pushed away Acting Chief Gordon, who had come out of the interrogation room to comfort him, and turned around dejectedly, staggering towards the police station door like a soulless zombie.
Everyone in the police station watched as the dejected middle-aged man slowly walked out the door and disappeared into the bustling crowd. After exchanging glances, they returned to their work.
Acting Chief Gordon stood at the door of the interrogation room, looking worriedly in the direction the middle-aged man had left, his face full of regret.
If possible, he also wanted to help the man escape his nightmare. Unfortunately, he was just a policeman; he wasn't a doctor or a priest. He could only protect the safety of citizens with his gun, but he couldn't soothe their emotional wounds.
Next time I see old Delapour, I should try to persuade him to go to Arkham Asylum for a checkup. Unfortunately, the old man is stubborn and might not appreciate my efforts; he might even misunderstand and think I think he's crazy.
Gordon shook his head silently, preparing to return to his office to continue his work, when he casually glanced over and saw Matt and Jill eating breakfast in front of the brand-new coffee machine.
The acting director had a sudden inspiration, and a bold idea popped into his mind.
If old Delapour's son hadn't died, he would probably be about the same age as Jill, or at least the same age.
Women have a natural advantage in interpersonal relationships, and given that the other person seems to have a good relationship with Dr. Rorschach, if it were her, she would most likely...
With that in mind, Gordon didn't go back to his office. Instead, he waved to his two subordinates who were having breakfast across the police station's lobby, signaling them to come over.
Jill and her companion, who had been keeping an eye on the situation, naturally noticed the acting director's summons. After exchanging a glance, they tilted their heads back, finished their coffee, tidied up the scene, and chased after Gordon's retreating figure.
Chapter 414 The Call of Bloodline
Chapter 414 The Call of Bloodline
Ten minutes later, at the entrance of the Arkham Police Department. Matt and Jill, having received their new assignment, got into their newly equipped Ford police car and headed towards the outskirts of town.
Because she had received driving training in Boston, Jill was in the driver's seat, while her partner Matt was leaning back in the soft leather passenger seat with a file in his hand, his brow furrowed as he flipped through it. After a while, he sighed and put it away.
"I never expected that the two of us would be sent to deal with old Delapour. Although we don't have to go to that rural town of Dunwich to wade through the mud but instead go to a luxurious manor to investigate a case, I still have a feeling that it would be better to go to Dunwich."
Hearing her partner's complaints, Jill, who was focused on driving, smiled slightly and comforted him:
“That Mr. Delapour brought a lot of assets from England and is a successful businessman himself. I heard from Chief Gordon that he is even planning to build a factory on the outskirts of Arkham, providing hundreds of jobs for the townspeople. If we can get rid of this gentleman’s troubles, our bonuses for next month will be secured.”
"The idea is good, but that 'Master Delapour' is not an easy person to serve. I just asked the previous batch of colleagues who moved into the manor. Not only is that gentleman short-tempered and capricious, but he also keeps dozens of cats at home, which are never quiet 24 hours a day. Sigh, I hope the two of us can complete the mission smoothly this time."
The middle-aged police officer, Matt, tapped his head with the case file, then shut his mouth in annoyance, ending the unpleasant topic.
The black Ford drove smoothly through the streets of Arkham, attracting only a glance from pedestrians on either side before moving on. After two weeks of adjustment, the townspeople of Arkham had grown accustomed to the occasional black car passing by, no longer experiencing the novelty they once had.
After turning several small roads and passing several corners, just as the black luxury Ford was about to turn onto the road leading directly to the suburbs, Jill, the driver, suddenly frowned and slowly stepped on the brake.
Matt, who was leaning against the car window looking at the scenery, noticed the car stop and looked at his partner with a puzzled expression.
“I may need to attend to some personal matters. Matt, you go to De Lapur Estate first, I'll be there shortly.”
Jill, her eyes fixed on a certain direction outside the car window, spoke in a somewhat apologetic voice, while Matt, who was also looking in the same direction, raised an eyebrow and revealed a knowing look.
"Do you need any help?"
"No need, I can handle it."
"Then be careful. You can fire a warning shot if necessary. I'll go to the manor and wait for you."
"Thanks, Matt."
"We're partners."
Jill opened the door of the black Ford, straightened her clothes which were slightly wrinkled from driving, nodded to the car behind her that was slowly starting to move again, and then walked toward a small alleyway not far away.
There, a group of thugs were surrounding a young man, eyeing him with ill intent, as if they were about to do something illegal.
Just as the group of thugs were sneering and closing in on the young man who was holding a box that looked extremely valuable, making him tremble with fear, a sharp female voice with a hint of warning rang out behind them.
"APD! (Arkham Police) What do you want to do to this gentleman? Scatter immediately, or I may use force!"
The thugs, who were sneering and forcing the young man to hand over the expensive box, were stunned for a moment, then their expressions turned extremely ugly, and finally they became gloomy and ruthless.
They stopped surrounding the trembling young man and turned to look at Jill, who was a few steps away, pointing a police revolver at them.
“Outsider, this guy is a filthy Innsmouth, his veins are filthy, are you sure you want to stand up for him?”
Faced with the blustering yet incompetent threat from a thug who appeared to be the leader, Jill didn't waste any words. Instead, she fired a shot at the man's feet, the warning clearly intended.
With a grim expression, the thug leader stared at the bullet crater just centimeters from his shoe, and growled in a low voice that sounded like it was being forced out from between his teeth:
"When that guy turns into one of those half-human, half-fish monsters and bites your head off, you'll regret everything you've done today, stranger! Let's go!"
The group of thugs, no more than 16 years old, left angrily. Only after confirming that they were far away did Jill put away her sidearm and look at the victim of the incident, a young man who was holding an ornate wooden box and was turning his body to the side as if avoiding her gaze.
"Paul, where have you been for the past two weeks? I've been trying to find you, hoping to introduce you to some jobs, but I haven't been able to locate you. You..."
