The room fell silent.
As Cheng Fei stroked the girl's silky, waist-length hair in his arms, he pondered and said, "Speaking of Teacher Shen..."
"What?" Shen Xi remained motionless.
"Your logic is full of holes, don't you realize that?" the boy asked, puzzled.
"What's the problem?" The girl shifted slightly, seemingly displeased.
"It's nothing, I was just asking." The boy continued to hug her tightly. "I feel that someone as smart as you shouldn't make such a basic mistake."
"Shut up, I don't want to talk about this anymore." The girl buried her face in her hands, her impatience as it had been countless times before.
"Okay." Cheng Fei had no choice but to nod. "Then when we go out? I guess Nana will have already finished preparing dinner."
"You really are a vixen who misses you. Well, that makes sense, after all, she's always obedient to you and would never pry into your secrets." The girl sneered.
"Teacher Shen, I still think it's unreasonable for you to bring up such a flawed argument. Did you really not think about it at all?" the boy suddenly said.
"I said I don't want to talk about this anymore!" The girl punched him.
"Ok."
"Trash, so you're holding this meeting now, what are you planning to do tonight?" The girl's voice carried a hint of indescribable emotion.
"I'm sorry, but I still have to spend the evening with Nana as planned. If Your Highness doesn't mind, how about we postpone it to tomorrow..."
"As expected, don't even think about it!" The girl was instantly annoyed.
"Alright, there's no other way then. We'll just have to treat today as a short meeting. But setting a precedent isn't a bad thing; it'll give us more options in the future," the boy said thoughtfully, pausing for a moment. "But Mr. Shen, if you wanted to test Master Ye and my abilities, you really wouldn't have thought of Nana and Lin Xuanqi?"
"Cheng Fei, if you bring this up again, you're dead." The girl raised her head and stared at him with empty eyes.
"Okay." Cheng Fei nodded lightly again. "Then can I hold you for another ten minutes?"
"Whatever." The girl lowered her eyes, her face expressionless.
"You can touch my legs? Of course, but definitely not too high." The boy observed her expression and raised an eyebrow.
The girl turned her face away, her delicate brows furrowing slightly as she remained silent for a moment. "I'll reluctantly agree."
"Teacher Shen, you were absolutely unwilling before, why are you being so generous this time?" The boy didn't move, continuing to stare at that little face.
"Don't ask me all these questions. If you don't want to touch it, then don't!" the girl glared at him through gritted teeth.
The boy didn't speak, but just looked into the girl's eyes. When she unconsciously turned her gaze away, he leaned closer and whispered, "Teacher Shen, are you being so soft because you feel guilty?"
"Cheng Feiyu is just spouting nonsense. He just made a mistake in his guess. There's nothing to be ashamed of," the girl said, raising her voice as she spoke to the wardrobe not far away.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of if I guessed wrong; after all, even geniuses make mistakes. But," the boy changed the subject, "what if it was all an act from the beginning, a test to see what would happen?"
"This is absurd. What good is it to act with this Cheng Feiyu?" Shen Xi turned her head to meet his gaze, biting her lip slightly.
"Pretending to have a serious misunderstanding about me, forcing me to explain the truth, using retreat as a means of advance, feigning one thing while secretly doing another, Teacher Shen, do you think your little brain would make a flawed guess instead of playing a big game? I'm not that stupid." Cheng Fei moved closer to that beautiful yet fierce little face, their eyes meeting.
"There's a limit to paranoia and conspiracy theories! Or is this what they call mutual trust?" The girl narrowed her eyes and gave a cold laugh.
The two, locked in a fierce confrontation, were so close that they would kiss if they were even a centimeter closer, and could clearly feel each other's warm breath.
The air seemed to freeze for a moment.
"Shen Xi, stop pretending." Cheng Fei looked at her helplessly. "This isn't the first time you've used this trick. You can spend weeks killing the flowers to pretend to be pitiful and fool me. You're so clever and cunning. To be honest, Nana is more honest than you."
Shen Xi fell silent, then narrowed her eyes and turned her face away. "Heh, if you think I'm dishonest, you can just say so. Anyway, I've had enough of this Cheng Feiyu who's full of lies. Let's end it here!"
The resounding words fell silent, but there was no response from the room.
The girl waited a few seconds, her eyes flickering, and cautiously tilted her head to meet the boy's gaze, only to find him staring at her with a smile.
Cheng Fei suddenly pulled Shen Xi into his arms, buried his head in her ear and sighed, "That's why you're my little darling. You seem to follow the rules on the surface, but you're not honest at all. You're cunning and sly, just like me. How could I possibly dislike you?"
"Nonsense! You're the only one here who's cunning and treacherous!" The cold rebuttal, muffled and utterly unconvincing, left her slender, delicate body defenseless as she was embraced.
"It's kind of cute that you're always so stubborn." Cheng Fei patted her head affectionately.
"Heh, anyway, no damage was caused this time, it was just a test." The girl kept her face down, her voice still muffled.
"It's kind of cute to implicitly admit you did something bad but then emphasize that you didn't do anything too bad." The boy kissed her ear through her hair.
The girl's body trembled uncontrollably as she buried her head and took deep breaths.
Cheng Fei placed his palm on her rounded joints.
The girl grew increasingly uneasy, her slender, snow-white legs pressed together, her body tensing as she gripped his arm, but she still didn't try to escape. "Trash! What are you doing?"
"You just agreed?" The boy asked matter-of-factly and without any politeness. He paused and then said seriously, "Shen Xi, you've actually resorted to the same trick again. I really have to punish you."
The girl fell silent, then looked up at him after a few seconds, her delicate and pretty face revealing neither joy nor anger. "How should I punish you?"
681. Who isn't human?
the other side.
Under Nagasaki Asuna's smiling gaze, Ye Shuang put the sushi roll with fried shrimp, cucumber and avocado into her mouth.
"Does Shuangshuang think it's delicious?" Nagasaki Asuna asked, tilting her head with her hands behind her back.
"Mmm, it's super delicious~ It's even better than those Japanese restaurants." Ye Shuang covered her mouth, chewed, and nodded with a look of surprise.
"If Shuangshuang becomes Cheng Fei's girlfriend, she can eat my cooking every day?" Nagasaki Asuna's smile remained unchanged.
"Nana!" The girl with pigtails changed her expression and stomped her foot, her cheeks puffed out.
"Shuangshuang is so cute." Nagasaki Asuna cupped her face and rubbed it haphazardly.
The obedient girl quickly backed away and swallowed the food in her mouth.
Asuna Nagasaki gazed at her, lightly tapping her chin with her fingertips. Suddenly remembering something, she took her small hand and said, "By the way, Shuangshuang, don't eat yet, come with me for a moment."
"What are you doing?" Ye Shuang asked suspiciously, but still let the other party lead the way.
Asuna Nagasaki led her to the whiteboard in the study, "Shuangshuang, look at this."
The girl with pigtails leaned closer, frowning as she looked at the lines of text written in marker: "Search for the black umbrella, explore the crash site... What is this?"
“It’s our topic, or you could say our mission objective,” Nagasaki Asuna smiled.
"So why did you call me here?" Ye Shuang asked, puzzled.
“Look at this.” Nagasaki Asuna pointed to the bottom line.
"The three of them...together?" Ye Shuang glanced at the words, then at Nagasaki Asuna's face, her gaze flickering. "What does this have to do with me?"
“This needs to be changed now,” Nagasaki Asuna said, picking up a marker and eraser from the side.
Under Ye Shuang's watchful eye, the girl carefully erased the "three" and replaced it with "four".
"That works perfectly~" Nagasaki Asuna closed the pen cap and nodded in satisfaction.
"Nana!" Ye Shuang glared at her, then hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but couldn't.
"What's wrong with Shuangshuang?" Nagasaki Asuna looked at her with her hands behind her back, with an expression that seemed to say, "I don't think I have a problem at all, and I'm even quite proud of myself."
"I'm really impressed by you." The girl with twin ponytails stared at her for a few seconds, then sighed dejectedly.
Not long after the two returned to the living room, they heard the sound of a door closing in the hallway.
Ye Shuang, who was chatting and laughing with Nagasaki Asuna and had a cheerful demeanor, instantly put away her warm smile as a well-bred young lady and put on a cold look.
"Have you two had enough fun? It's time to eat." Nagasaki Asuna tilted her head and winked.
Shen Xi acted as if she couldn't hear or see her, and walked straight to the dining table and sat down with a cold expression.
"Nana, you've worked hard." Cheng Fei glanced over and saw that dinner was indeed ready.
"It's not hard work~" Nagasaki Asuna replied sweetly.
The four of them took their seats, with Shen Xi at one end, Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna on either side of her, and Ye Shuang quietly sitting next to Nagasaki Asuna.
Once all three had picked up their bowls and chopsticks, Nagasaki Asuna rested her chin on her hands, a smile playing on her lips as she scanned the room.
"Nana, what are you grinning about instead of eating?" Cheng Fei asked her casually.
“I’m not just grinning like an idiot.” Nagasaki Asuna first puffed out one cheek in protest at the boy, then paused and smiled happily. “I just feel like it’s more like home when the four of us are together. I hope the four of us can stay together like this in the future.”
"Nana, can you please stop saying such strange things!" Ye Shuang, who was focused on enjoying her sushi, glared at her softly, with a faint sense of despair.
"That vixen has gone mad again," Shen Xi sighed.
"Master Ye, come visit more often when you have time. Don't just stay at home reading comics all day." Cheng Fei said seriously.
"Who reads comics all day? I'm very busy!" Ye Shuang glared at him again, her face cold.
"I hope so, sigh, it's all about anime." The boy shook his head.
"You! You're so annoying, I don't want to talk to you." Ye Shuang frowned, but perhaps because there were other people around, she swallowed her words back, gritted her teeth, and lowered her head.
A brief silence fell over the dining table.
"Let me state the conclusions of this research project." Shen Xi lowered her eyes and spoke expressionlessly, "It can be assumed that the Stands are adapted to each person's special abilities, but this was not part of the Stands' original design. The origin of this mechanism is currently unclear. Initial suspicions suggest it is related to avalanches, but it is difficult to explain logically. That's all."
Asuna Nagasaki chewed on her chopsticks and thought for a moment, "Everyone...?"
"At least for the few of us, since we don't know if there are any more people with special abilities in this world, we'll just assume that for now." Shen Xi didn't even look at her.
"There must be some, right?" Ye Shuang pondered seriously for a moment before joining the conversation. "It's impossible that we're the only special ones in the whole world, isn't it?"
Nagasaki Asuna nodded, "It seems so, doesn't it? Even if Shuangshuang and Lin were influenced by Shen Xi growing up, Cheng Fei and I were just ordinary people before."
"Perhaps those who get close to Teacher Shen will awaken their own superpowers, after all, she is the Celestial Queen, a completely alien life form." Cheng Fei said with a serious expression.
"Cheng Feiyu, stop spreading rumors. I've already said I'm human." Shen Xi kicked him under the table, staring at him with a cold laugh. "Besides, the truth of the matter is probably best known to some scoundrels, but they just refuse to say it. Who in this room isn't human?"
As soon as the words were spoken, both Nagasaki Asuna and Ye Shuang cast ambiguous glances at the boy.
"What's with those expressions? I'm human too, thank you." Cheng Fei said with certainty.
"Actually, I don't really care what Cheng Fei is like. Even if Cheng Fei is actually a tentacle monster, I wouldn't mind~" Nagasaki Asuna tilted her head and revealed a bright smile.
"Disgusting vixen." Shen Xi glanced at her, making no attempt to hide her disgust.
"He's a scumbag anyway. Even if he's an alien, he's still a scumbag. It would be best if he were captured and dissected in a lab as soon as possible." Ye Shuang turned her face away and curled her lips, looking disdainful.
"Who knows, one day that guy surnamed Lin might grab me and slice me up," Shen Xi scoffed.
"Hey, you two, enough with the bullying at school!" the boy protested.
"Shut up, you're just a rotten person who knows the truth but refuses to tell it." Shen Xi glared at him, her little face displeased.
“Teacher Shen, I must emphasize that I don’t know the truth about these things either. And if I really have any special abilities, I only acquired them after I met you. You are highly suspicious. I now suspect that you knew from the beginning that you were the Star Spirit Queen, and that you were just pretending to be a girl named Shen Xi to use us.” Cheng Fei stared at her righteously.
"Cheng Feiyu is trying to smear me again and mislead the public. If I really were the Celestial Queen, I would be the first to eliminate you, the biggest scum on Earth." The aloof girl glared at him fiercely.
"Tch, what's with the fierceness? The Protoss have been extinct for countless millennia. You're just a weakling who escaped to Earth to eke out a living. You've seen through it all long ago." The boy shook his head nonchalantly and put a piece of sushi made by Asuna Nagasaki into his mouth.
682. Ye Shuang was flustered and confused.
"Trash! So this is your excuse for spouting such blasphemous nonsense?" Shen Xi was even more furious and kicked him hard.
"Um," Nagasaki Asuna said, resting her chin on her hands as she looked at the two, "Although I don't want to interrupt your daily conversation, since Cheng Fei also became special after meeting Shen Xi, maybe Shen Xi really does influence the people around her. Why don't we treat it as a test?"
"How do we test it?" Shen Xi looked at her, his eyes narrowing.
"It's simple. Let Shen Xi spend more time with Zhou Han and Ruan, and see if they change."
Cheng Fei watched from the sidelines, raising an eyebrow.
Shen Xi pondered for a moment, "How should we get along?"
"Treat them as friends, sit together and chat more often?" Nagasaki Asuna said casually.
Shen Xi paused for a second, her face showing difficulty, "It's disgusting."
"It's okay since they're all girls, right?" Nagasaki Asuna tilted her head.
“I have a phobia of stupidity and don’t want to associate with idiots.” Shen Xi frowned slightly.
