Michael stepped to Grant, "She's yours?" he tilted his head to the side with a knowing smile. "She didn't mention it when she kissed me last night."
"You were always her weak spot," Grant said closing the little space left between them. "While you were off getting married. Kara and I were..." He looked off into the distance and licked his lips, remembering their time together. "well," he turned back to Michael, "we were having fun," a big smile spread across the detective's face.
Michael's defined bone structure showed as he clenched his jaw in anger. He looked around the building, officers were walking to and from. Michael was on his turf and he was aware that Grant knew from that stupid smile plastered on his face. Disgruntled, he walked away, dropping the roses in a wastebasket nearby.
Grant flashed a victory smile and rejoined Chief in the observation room as Kara emerged from the adjoined room. Kara thought he saw Michael leaving out the station. There was no mistaking his blonde hair. She walked towards the exit, intending to catch up, but fell back when she spotted a bouquet of roses in the garbage. She pulled them out and the thorns pricked her skin. She raised the flowers to her nose and took a huge whiff. The fresh smell of red roses tickled her nose, then she noticed a note hidden among the stems.
Forgive me

Kara dragged herself across the threshold after a long day of work. She was physically and emotionally drained. She tossed her keys into the bowl, the metal clinked against the glass.
"Long day?" Logan asked, not looking up from his book.
"Yes," she said as she pushed his legs off the couch to sit down. She took a deep breath and laid back, her blond hair hanging over the back of the sofa.
"What's with the flowers?" Logan closed his book and crossed his legs as if he was waiting to hear a juicy story.
"A gift." Kara glanced at them in her hands then stood up. "Michael upstairs?"
Logan sat back to settle in his spot once more, then opened his book. "Yep."
As Kara entered the room, a cool breeze caressed her skin. Michael's hair was flowing in the wind as he gazed at the sky from the balcony. Although the manor was over 40 mins from the city, it was their solitude. You were able to see the twinkling stars clearly since they were surrounded by the ocean and woods. There was a faint click as Michael closed the french balcony doors to join Kara in the room.
"Why did you throw these away?" She pulled the flowers from behind her back.
"I...I was thinking about giving them to my dad, but it was a stupid idea."
"Well, I think they're lovely and a great idea." She stopped talking to gather her courage. "Also, you have nothing to be forgiven for, Michael. We both left you. We are the ones that need forgiveness."
"Wait, you think this is your fault?" he asked, shocked.
"If I never left in the first place−"
"You can't blame yourself for my weakness!" he protested. "I...."
Michael's voice fell into the background, and all Kara heard was her own heart beating. She recalled the crying woman and her words. Life was too short to waste being mad at the person she loved. Kara threw the roses down to the ground and jumped into his arms, her lips finding his. He placed his hand on the back of her neck, pulling her deeper into the kiss. They were breathing heavily when they finally pulled away. Both of them were locked in a trance.
They kissed their way to the bed, shedding their clothing along the way. Michael traced his hand along her spine, before unhooking her bra. The garment dropped to the floor as he ran his tongue across her collarbone. His hand traveled down to her behind and he gave it a squeeze, pulling her in closer. Kara gave a smile as she felt his erection against her hip. She pushed him down on the bed and worked her way down, kissing his smooth chest then firm abs. Kara slipped his underwear off, gently running her fingertips over his hips, then lower. Michael clenched the sheets, his body taut from pleasure. Kara worked her way back up, straddling his hips, "Don't do this to me." he choked out, his breaths ragged.
Kara hovered over him, drawing it out even longer. She teased him as she swayed her hips from side to side. Kara finally lowered her body, the heat emanating where their bodies connected. The ecstasy washed over them, making Michael groan. "Kara" he whispered, gripping her thighs. She moved up and down slowly, their hips movements syncing together. Kara threw her head back as they build up speed. Their hips rocked faster and faster, chasing the highest ecstasy. Finally, it burst and overflowed; the huge wave of pleasure washed over them. Their bodies slowed as Kara hunched over Michael, her breaths slowing. "I missed you," he whispered in her ear.
She kissed him once more, "I missed you too." She laid beside him, her head resting on his arm.
"You know those roses were for you, right?" he asked.
"I had a hunch." Kara smiled.
"I was coming to tell you that Hannah and I got divorced."
"Really? You don't waste any time."
"Actually, Hannah drew up the papers. She brought them to me to sign, and we were divorced within the hour."
Kara looked flabbergasted, "Huh?"
"But then Grant−"
"Grant?" Kara sat up, her brows furrowed. "What does this have to do with him?"
Michael sat up too. "He made some good points and said you two were together. He said you were his now."
"Together? His? I'm going to kill him. We went on two dates. Two!" Kara was visibly irritated. "I didn't even want to, but he wouldn't shut up, and I thought it would help me forget about you. It didn't."
"And what did you do on these two dates?" asked Michael.
Logan barged into the room. "Whoa. Sorry, I thought you guys were dressed!"
Kara jumped up and quickly pulled the covers over her exposed humps and lumps. "Logan, knock!" she wrapped the fabric around her body then picked her clothes up off the floor.
"But what happened on the−" Michael began, but Kara scrambled into the bathroom "dates?" He sighed and stood up to get dressed.
Logan watched Kara scurry into the bathroom then turned his attention back to Michael. "Glad you guys made up."
"You were always her weak spot," Grant said closing the little space left between them. "While you were off getting married. Kara and I were..."
