Chapter 2401 (6)

Upon arriving at the living room, the author said she wanted to start cooking, as it was already past 2 PM and she had many things to do. She suggested not cooking too late, explaining that after dinner, she would need to wash the dishes, rest, and watch the live broadcast of the evening program; without breaks, it would feel rushed. However, her family, busy arranging and admiring the flowers, disagreed, saying they needed to wait until they had arranged the large pile of newly bought flowers and flowerpots before going to the kitchen, and not cook early to avoid placing the dishes on the table and obstructing the photo opportunity.

I've bought dozens of bouquets of lilies and roses. I need to arrange them in a way that will please my family. I have to wait a little longer.

This year's New Year's Eve dinner was prepared by her family, with her children assisting. Some stir-fried vegetables and pre-cooked dishes were prepared by the author herself, while the braised carp, steamed shrimp, steamed scallops, and fried vegetables were cooked by her family.

After waiting a while, the large rear-projection TV in the living room was on, so we could watch programs. Finally, around 3 PM, we could start cooking.

Preparing this New Year's Eve dinner took two or three hours, which was quite busy. Thankfully, some dishes only needed to be heated, saving us the trouble and time of pre-preparing ingredients. Braised pork belly, sweet and sour pork, and pineapple sweet and sour pork were ready after a short heat, requiring no seasoning. The pork chunks for the sweet and sour pork and pineapple sweet and sour pork were semi-finished products; they needed to be deep-fried for a few minutes before adding the accompanying sauce. The final product wasn't outstanding, but it was acceptable.
