Warhammer: Return of the Dragon.
Chapter 1191 Changing Destiny
"What does it say?" the guard asked Marcus. He was worried that the document was picked up by the Imperials and they wanted to use Judith's reputation to defraud people.
"I can't read...but it seems to be the Ambassador of Caledor, who asked me to see him."
"Are you Markus Kruber?"
Marcus nodded and pulled the Imperial Provincial soldier's dog tags from his pocket.
It was clearly written on the mottled iron plate: Markus Kruber, Captain of the Swordsmen of the Third Border Regiment of Ostermark.
After checking the dog tag, the guard thought there was no problem. Unless this guy killed Marcus on the way, it would be impossible for two certificates to appear at the same time.
The guard waved his hand behind him and said loudly:
"Vlamir, take this southern brother to the embassy."
After successfully entering the door, Marcus was soon surprised by the bustling scene.
It is not easy to build a city in the ice and snow. As the economic center of Kislev, Erengrad is a huge city built with the whole country's strength.
After the Great Holy War and the Vampire War, large areas of the city have become ruins. After careful consideration, the legendary general of the Patriotic Army began to plan the reconstruction project in an orderly manner.
As you enter the city gate, you can see neatly arranged towers and bunkers, and soldiers armed with muskets watch everyone entering the city meticulously.
The sculpture of the giant bear Ursun, symbolizing Kislev, is placed in the center of the tower. Under the protection of the gods, they can become stronger. The brazier of Daz still burns during the day. The flame of faith can dispel all evil things.
The area near the central square is the residential and office area. The towering onion dome of the city hall announces to everyone that as long as this building does not collapse, Erengrad will exist forever.
The commercial district, which is the lifeblood of Kislev, is close to the port, but the Caledo Embassy is not at the port, but in a remote corner of the city.
With the embassy as the center, radiating outwards is a circle of elf buildings.
Scholars, merchants, artists, adventurers... the elves from Ulthuan began to get used to life in the northern wastelands and built a unique elven neighborhood with the embassy as its center.
Walking in the Elf Street for the first time made Marcus look a little dazed.
It’s so fancy... The white paint on the wall and the colorful tiles that look like they are worth a year’s salary.
When we arrived at the door of the embassy, the guard was the first to ask, "What's the matter?"
"This is...your ambassador wants to see me."
The guard took the document and checked it carefully. He did not ask Marcus to take out the dog tags, but raised his hand to invite the imperial man in.
The people in the office were very efficient and arranged an itinerary for Marcus in just five minutes.
Take a carriage to Judith's mansion, but it's best to have a change of clothes.
Marcus glanced at the flea-ridden clothes and thought that the elf had a serious obsession with cleanliness. If I changed my clothes, how could I prove that I was Marcus?
Since he was unwilling to change his clothes, the office couldn't do anything about it. He was Judith's guest and might be involved in some important matters. They had no power to force him to observe etiquette.
By the time Marcus actually met Judith, it had been a month since he left the barracks.
But the way the two met made Marcus feel a little special.
A Sun Dragon was staring at the newcomers with curiosity, while Judith was carefully using a newly developed water gun to wash away the dirt between the dragon's scales.
"So you are Markus Kruber."
The ambassador's voice was sonorous and powerful, like a sharp sword piercing Marcus's brain, and he felt his temples buzzing. The swordsman shook his head, trying to drive away the strange echo: "I am Marcus, and you are Judith, the ambassador of Caledor?"
"It's rare that a human would speak to me like that... but whatever."
After turning around, Marcus saw Judith's face.
By human standards, Judith looked very... serious. His tightly pursed lips showed that he was not a joker. His high palate and eyebrows made the elf look very cold.
"Markus Kruber, do you know why I want to see you?"
"If I had known, I wouldn't have come."
The elf smiled and thought that this human was indeed interesting.
"Okay, okay... I actually don't know why I asked you to come...
But the order from Ulthuan was one I could not refuse."
"Now, you will take a break from the provincial regiment in Ostermark and stay in Kislev for a while as my guard."
"Yes."
Judith found the answer without question very interesting.
The Dragon Prince stared at the human, trying to see something strange on that face, but Marcus just stood there with his legs together and solemnly.
"Now, your first mission," Judith waved to Marcus, handing him the squirt gun as the human came over.
"Clean the body of my dragon companion."
This matter...Marcus really didn't do it. His direct answer just now was just a soldier's nature. Since the commander has already sold him out, he will listen to the elf for once.
But cleaning the scales... He looked at the hose in his hand that was emitting a thin stream of water, and an unknown device, and couldn't figure out what was going on.
Humans? Cleaning the dragon's scales, and judging by the dragon's eyes, it seems like they're looking forward to it.
Marcus glanced back at Judith and saw that the elf was watching with her arms folded, as if wanting to see his next move.
"Never mind. Old Kruber is no coward."
Marcus turned the device to the maximum, and a violent stream of water instantly gushed out of the hose. Relying on his strong arms, he held down the hose as thick as his thigh, and did not care which part of the dragon was dirty, and sprayed it indiscriminately.
This rough action caused Marcus to be covered with splashing water all over his body, and he became a drowned dog under the mocking gaze of the dragon.
The arm strength is good, but the body coordination needs to be improved...
Judith made such a judgment about Krupp, and not long ago, a decree suddenly came from the royal court, which was of course written by the Phoenix King himself, requiring her to find a human named Marcus Krupp in Ostermark. It also included various detailed information, including his background, hobbies, and beliefs.
After finding it, he didn't plan on asking this human to do anything. Instead, he hoped to train him specially, at least to reach a level of strength that was acceptable.
This strange request could only have been made by the Phoenix King, otherwise the ambassador would have simply ignored it.
Cultivating a human being...I haven't done this in many years.
Judith looked at Kruber who was holding the hose to steady himself as the dragon roared, and thought that this might be a different kind of challenge, to find some fun in the boring life. (End of this chapter)
