Chapter 623 Night Guard
As the sun rose, the peaceful city of Baixi was filled with excitement.

The Rock People, living in rows of stone houses, went out to work, their animal-skin garments adding to the hustle and bustle. A few Rock People children played on the road, while Rock People warriors, spears in hand, patrolled their settlement.

Amidst this tranquility, the group dressed in black quietly entered the Rock People's territory.

The group of four men in black all wore curved swords at their waists. The two leaders had eyes like lightning, and their bodies churned with blood energy. Their bodies were vaguely distorted, as if shrouded in smoke. This was a phenomenon of blood energy transforming into qi, enough to indicate that the newcomers were quite powerful.

The rock people were quite hostile towards these uninvited guests, watching them warily as they entered their encampment. Many rock people even carried spears, standing ready to observe their movements.

"Messengers of the Azure Sky Tower, why have you come to the Rock People's territory?" A tall figure emerged from among the Rock People, standing over two zhang tall, his body as hard as solid rock. A surge of blood energy swirled around the long spear in his hand. This was a hero, a Rock People warrior worthy of being called a hero.

The man in black calmly observed everything, remaining completely unfazed despite being surrounded by countless rock warriors. He simply took out a bronze short sword from his robes and addressed the rock warrior hero, saying, "We are here on Elder Ao's orders to invite our Baiyi friends from among the nobles to the Azure Sky Tower."

"Hmph, the Baiyi people are honored guests of our Rock People clan. How can you invite them as you please?" The Rock People hero sneered, his eyes fixed on the crowd. "Our honored guests should know how to be treated. If you neglect them, then test the sharpness of the Rock People's weapons."

"This is Elder Ao's order," the man in black said calmly. "Even the Rock People cannot disobey the elder's command."

"Elder Ao of the Azure Sky Tower? He's nothing but an incompetent fool," Yan Renyinghao sneered. "If it weren't for that accident that year, how could he have been appointed as an elder? Since it was his order, let me test your abilities."

After saying this, Yan Renyinghao was about to step forward with his gun when he was stopped by a shout and then stopped moving.

The person who had called out slowly emerged; it was none other than the elder of the Rock People tribe.

"Senior citizens."

"Senior citizens."

The rock people bowed and made way for the elder, clearing a path for him. The elder, dressed in animal clothing and leaning on a cane, slowly approached the man in black.

"Please forgive my children, sir, for their rudeness," the elder said, stroking his beard and chuckling at the black man.

The men in black all bowed their heads and paid their respects to the elder.

Knowing the elder's identity, they dared not be negligent. They knew that during the competition for the twelve elder positions, this elder had almost become an elder. If not for that accident, perhaps this person would be among the elders currently in charge of Baixi.

No matter how arrogant and domineering the messengers of the Azure Sky Tower were, they were all extremely respectful in front of the elders.

“Elder, we are here on Elder Ao’s orders to invite our distinguished guests to the Sky Tower. You should know the elder’s orders…” Before the man in black could finish speaking, the elder waved his hand to stop him.

“Of course I know the rules of the Sky Tower, and I also know your purpose in coming. However, that person is an honored guest of our Rock People clan, and it would be inappropriate for him to go with you today,” the elder said with a smile.

“Of course, we cannot treat our distinguished guests in such a way.” The leader in black nodded repeatedly. “If the elder feels there is anything that needs to be done, please do not hesitate to speak.”

"My request is not high. There are a few youngsters in the clan who also want to see the world. They can go with our distinguished guests. I'm sure you won't mind," the elder said slowly.

The man in black paused for a moment upon hearing this, then a conflicted expression appeared on his face. He had only invited those two outsiders on Elder Ao's orders. Moreover, Elder Ao had instructed that no one else should accompany them. But given the current situation, if he disagreed, he might not even be able to enter the Rock People's territory.

Seeing the elder before him, the leader of the men in black had no choice. Finally, he bowed and agreed to the elder's request: "In that case, we will naturally follow your instructions."

"Alright, then you may go in. Your distinguished guests are waiting for you. I am old and will not disturb you any longer." With that, the elder leaned on his cane and left. The rock warriors who had been blocking their way also sheathed their weapons and ceased their obstruction. The rock hero snorted coldly at the man in black, picked up his spear, and strode away.

The leader of the men in black finally let out a long sigh of relief, deeply aware of the arduousness of this mission. He had thought it would be just a routine matter, but he had almost been trapped among the Rock People.

Although he wasn't afraid of the Rockman hero, fighting among the Rockmen was ultimately not a good thing. The Rockmen were no small tribe; they had many heroes and warriors. If a Rockman hero were to arrive, the four of them would likely have to stay here.

After wiping the sweat from their palms, the four of them headed towards Yanming's house.

Upon reaching the entrance, the man in black met the person the elder had invited. It was a very young man, exuding laziness and composure. His aura was completely flat, unlike that of a cultivator. He seemed more like an ordinary person, whose bloodline hadn't even been activated.

The man in black explained his background, and the young man readily agreed. He called his companion, a beautiful woman. Neither of them possessed any aura of surging bloodlust; they were simply unremarkable.

Elder Ao, however, sent his night guards to invite him, which was somewhat of a waste of their talents.

The leader of the men in black, guessing the elder's intentions, respectfully invited the young man to the Sky Tower. He was accompanied by four people: a four-armed tribesman, a rock-man tribesman, and two mountain tribesmen.

All four are men of great vigor and vitality, already approaching the realm of heroes. They are also quite young, undoubtedly outstanding young talents of their clans. Given time, they may all become heroes of their respective tribes.

As for why they were going to the Heavenly Tower, the leader of the men in black had no interest in knowing. The Night Guards served the Heavenly Tower and only carried out the elders' orders. As for other matters, they had little to do with the Night Guards.

As the group left the Rock People's settlement, they saw a giant beast resting outside.

The colossal beast resembled a rhinoceros, standing five zhang tall and nine zhang long. It carried a satchel on its back, large enough to seat dozens of people. Like a small mountain, it stood quietly before the crowd.

"Please." The man in black leaped onto the giant beast and stood side by side with the crowd on the ground.

Climbing this giant beast is not easy; the two-zhang (approximately 6.6 meters) gap is enough to stump many people. Normally, if you invite people from ordinary tribes, they will lend a hand.

But this time they wanted to see what the people the elders had invited were capable of, so they chose to stand by and watch.

The four who followed were all skilled and quickly climbed onto the back of the giant beast.

The remaining youth and woman simply looked up at the group on the giant beast and smiled.

"Go ahead," the young man said, waving his hand.

The woman nodded, her toes barely touching the ground as she lightly landed on the giant beast's back, her expression utterly calm. The young man glanced at the beast, then vanished. He reappeared a moment later, standing beside the man in black.

"Let's go," came the young man's gentle voice.

Upon hearing this, the leader of the men in black felt a cold sweat break out all over his body.

The young man was completely unaware of the giant beast's movements.
