Chapter 683 Everyone gets something
She told Liang Yuan what she had seen and encountered in the Heavenly Palace. After listening, the woman looked at the baby girl in his arms with a slight surprise.
"Brother Jiang, are you saying that the child in your arms is the one you obtained from the palace that day? That's quite strange; I never imagined she would have such an experience." Liang Yuan sighed, reaching out to tease the baby girl's fair face. A gentler look appeared between his brows, a tenderness even Jiang Wen rarely showed.
It was clear that she was very fond of the baby girl; after all, no one would dislike such a precious child.
"Could she be..." Liang Yuan hesitated for a moment before cautiously asking Jiang Wen.
Jiang Wen knew what she meant, but shook his head and sighed, "I don't know either, maybe so. In any case, it's fate that we met like this."
"That's true. For Brother Jiang to encounter such a person must be a great stroke of luck. If he is indeed a legendary immortal, then it must be extraordinary. However, raising children is no ordinary matter, especially since he might be a reincarnated immortal. Brother Jiang, are you confident?" Liang Yuan chuckled. She rarely saw Jiang Wen with such a helpless expression, as he always maintained a calm and composed demeanor. It seems that even a strong person has their weaknesses.
"Don't laugh at me, what kind of adventures have you had in this Heavenly Palace?" Jiang Wen said, somewhat annoyed, upon seeing her expression. Not wanting to dwell on the topic of childcare, he changed the subject and asked the woman.
Upon hearing this, Liang Yuan knew when to stop. He then told Jiang Wen what he had seen and learned in the Heavenly Palace.
After separating from the others, she sought enlightenment on the Heavenly Ladder. However, she was unwittingly drawn into a celestial palace containing countless ancient texts. The palace's collection was as numerous as the morning stars. After undergoing considerable trials, Liang Yuan successfully obtained one of the texts. However, before she could even glance at it, she experienced a renewed inner demon. But she had already overcome this inner demon, thus surviving the ordeal.
"When I opened my eyes again, I found myself here and saw Brother Jiang," Liang Yuan said.
"What book are you reading?" Jiang Wen asked.
"I don't remember very clearly either, but I do remember that the book seemed to record some ancient legends." Liang Yuan looked somewhat confused as she mumbled these words. As if intentionally or unintentionally, she slowly uttered a strange language that she had never heard before but could understand.
"In the primordial chaos, the Dao Ancestor opened the mystery. Once the pure and the impure were separated, Yin and Yang were complete. All things were born and transformed, and the most intelligent beings appeared. In the beginning, there was evil spirits, and calamities lurked within."
Five immortals descended to earth, each possessing a hidden abyss. Calamity arose, spreading across the heavens. The Heavenly Venerable, patrolling the universe, pitied the sorrowful smoke. He sacrificed himself to mend the calamity, but the regret remains forever.
The Heavenly Emperor, in his wisdom, has established these rules and regulations. The paths of the Five Immortals shall never intersect…
Jiang heard it but only vaguely understood it; she grasped some of it but couldn't fully comprehend it. However, those strange words were etched into her mind like a carving.
"In the primordial chaos, the Dao Ancestor opened the mystery..." Jiang Wen murmured a few times, understanding the meaning behind these words. It was a story about the creation of heaven and earth, the origin of all things.
Just thinking about it made him feel dizzy and lightheaded. It was as if something was preventing him from exploring that ancient past.
Forget it, I won't think about it anymore. Gathering his thoughts, Jiang Wen didn't dwell on the past. He looked at Liang Yuan; the woman's expression wasn't any better than his, perhaps even worse. Her pale face was covered in sweat, her lips trembled, revealing a look of utter exhaustion.
Upon hearing this, Jiang knew she had encountered trouble. He placed a talisman made from a Bodhi tree on the woman's forehead.
Liang Yuan felt his dazed mind clear up, and he calmed down. He looked at Jiang Wen with a hint of lingering fear, and forced a smile, saying, "Brother Jiang, please forgive my ignorance. Such secrets are beyond my reach."
"Forget it for now, don't remember it." Jiang Wen pointed a finger at her forehead, sealing away the memory of the Heavenly Palace scriptures. When she can pursue a higher realm in the future, that memory will naturally resurface.
Liang Yuan bowed to Jiang Wen in gratitude, knowing that the other party had good intentions for him, and did not resist too much.
After resting for a while, the two took some medicine and sat quietly.
All that could be seen was a sea of clouds surging and the glow of the sunset flowing.
Jiang Wen held the still-sleeping baby girl, waiting quietly with Liang Yuan. As time passed, figures began to appear one after another at the various entrances to the Heavenly Palace.
The first to appear was an elderly man in hemp clothing from the Baixi tribe. He slowly walked out from a passage filled with flowing light and color. Although he looked slightly tired, his eyes shone with a sharp light. He held a newly acquired dragon-patterned wooden staff in his hand, the dragon's mouth at the top of the staff holding a pearl, and it faintly emitted the sound of wind and thunder. Upon seeing Jiang Wen, he nodded slightly in greeting.
Following that, the four holy maidens of the Baiman tribe also returned one after another.
The Celestial Serpent Saintess now wields a serpent-shaped jade staff, its tip gleaming with a faint, eerie light. The Crimson Water Saintess wears a pair of crimson jade bracelets on her wrists, the fire patterns seemingly dancing slowly within them.
The Holy Maiden of Cloud-Piercing Maiden, clad in heavy armor adorned with cloud patterns, exuded an even more imposing and majestic aura. The Holy Maiden of Dark Moon held a moon-shaped magical artifact, its light shining brightly. They exchanged a glance, then each sought a place to meditate, clearly having each gained something from their time in the Heavenly Palace.
An elderly woman with white hair from the Baiyi tribe slowly emerged, leaning on a dove-shaped staff. Several bells hanging from the head of the staff jingled, emitting a mesmerizing sound. Her gaze swept over the crowd, lingering briefly on Jiang Wen, before she closed her eyes to rest.
Several elders of the Hundred Seas tribe arrived together, one carrying a shimmering coral staff, another with a jade bottle dripping water at his waist. They conversed in hushed tones, their faces showing satisfaction. However, not everyone was so fortunate.
Several elders from other clans walked out of the passage with gloomy faces. The one in the lead looked somber and his sleeves were torn, clearly indicating that he had gone through a fierce battle, but he came up empty-handed.
They scanned the entire room, their gazes sharpening like knives when they saw what the elders had gained. Finally, they snorted coldly and walked away to meditate.
One by one, several elders from other tribes returned. Some were beaming with joy, admiring their newly acquired magical treasures. Others shook their heads and sighed, their bodies bruised and battered, having returned empty-handed. Still others were weak and exhausted, needing the support of their tribesmen.
Throughout the entire training ground, the elders of various clans displayed a range of expressions, a mixture of joy and regret.
Liang Yuan watched this scene and sighed softly.
Her face was pale, and fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. The oppressive power of the second heaven was constantly eroding her spiritual energy. Although she had received help from Jiang Wen, staying here for an extended period of time was still a great burden for her.
“Brother Jiang,” she turned to Jiang Wen, her voice weak, “the pressure here is too heavy, I need to go down first.”
Jiang Wen nodded. He could feel Liang Yuan's breath slowly fading away: "Take good care of yourself after you go down there."
Liang Yuan forced a smile, glanced at the baby girl in Jiang Wen's arms, turned around and stepped onto the jade steps leading to the first heaven, his figure gradually disappearing into the clouds.
The number of people in the training ground dwindled until only Jiang Wen and a handful of elders who were still adjusting their breathing remained.
Just when Jiang Wen thought that Jiang Su might need some more time, a white rainbow suddenly appeared at the entrance of an ice crystal palace in the distance, landing in front of him. It was Jiang Su.
She still maintained her aloof demeanor, her white robes spotless, but upon closer inspection, one could detect a subtle weariness and enlightenment in her eyes.
"You're back." Jiang Wen looked at her, noticing that she didn't have any obvious magical artifacts in her hands, and couldn't help but ask, "Did it go smoothly?"
Jiang Su nodded slightly and took something out of her sleeve. It was a palm-sized fragment of a bamboo slip, dark yellow in color, with jagged edges and blurred writing on the surface. It looked unremarkable, like a corner that had fallen off some discarded ancient book.
"This is all I have," Jiang Su said calmly.
Jiang Wen examined the bamboo slip fragment closely, but couldn't discern anything special about it, not even a trace of spiritual energy fluctuation. "This is...?"
"I don't know its name, but I do know its function." Jiang Su carefully put away the fragment of the bamboo slip. "When I touched it, I naturally understood a power in my mind that can promote the growth of all things."
As she spoke, she extended her slender finger, a faint wisp of blue spiritual light swirling around its tip. She casually flicked the light towards a spirit herb in her hand that had withered from the oppressive aura.
The herb stood upright at a speed visible to the naked eye, its leaves turning a vibrant green, and a flower bud quickly formed at its tip, blooming into a fragrant little flower. The entire process took only a moment.
A hint of surprise flashed in Jiang Wen's eyes.
This ability to bring forth all things is almost a creation of nature; though it may seem insignificant, it is in fact infinitely mysterious.
"I never expected to have such an opportunity," Jiang Wen exclaimed. "Such power is of great use in cultivation and in creating destiny."
Jiang Su nodded, her gaze falling on the baby girl in his arms. A barely perceptible ripple appeared in her cool eyes, but she did not ask any further questions.
As the two spoke, the last few elders who were meditating in the dojo also got up one after another, each with a different expression, and embarked on their journey home. Soon, only the two of them and the sleeping baby girl in their arms remained in the vast second heaven dojo.
The glow above the sea of clouds gradually dimmed, signifying that this journey to immortality was coming to an end. The jade steps leading to the third heaven disappeared into the depths of the endless glow, their oppressive aura deterring everyone from venturing forward.
“We should go too,” Jiang Wen said to Jiang Su, glancing at the ladder to unknown heights.
There was no objection to ginger extract.
The two walked side by side up the jade steps leading back to the first heaven. Their figures quickly disappeared into the swirling clouds.
