Chapter 760 Continued Development of the Space Program

"Judging from this corpse, the alien's physique and appearance are very similar to the werewolf in Western mythology. Is this a coincidence, or did aliens really come to Earth in ancient times?"

"Currently, the latter seems highly likely. Many myths and legends left behind around the world may be evidence of ancient extraterrestrials visiting Earth."

"Alright, stop discussing a corpse and get to work. First, take X-rays and analyze the alien's skeletal structure." With the old professor in charge of the laboratory giving the order, more than a dozen researchers immediately got to work, using various medical and experimental equipment to analyze and deduce information such as the alien's body structure, vital locations, living and eating habits, living environment, and age.

The small spaceships and experimental instruments discovered along with the aliens are being dismantled and studied by another team in order to deduce the aliens' technological level and technical processes.

Judging from this alien's research into synthesizing a zombie virus and deliberately spreading it to exterminate humanity on a large scale, these aliens harbor immense malice towards Earth. What could possibly drive these aliens to take such a huge risk, traversing billions of miles of interstellar space to reach our solar system and Earth? Could it be simply to wipe out a group of unrelated native humans? That clearly doesn't make sense, unless these aliens have some ulterior motive regarding our solar system and Earth. The most plausible explanation is that these aliens, for some reason, were forced to flee their Sirius system. Earth in our solar system happens to be one of the suitable planets for their survival; the distance between them isn't too great, and there's a stellar passage connecting them—an ideal escape route.

The numerous alien spaceship wreckages previously discovered by the Chinese interstellar expeditionary fleet in the asteroid belt, along with the alien who luckily arrived on Earth and created the zombie virus, are likely just advance troops sent by aliens from the Sirius system. The real large-scale interstellar migration fleet has not yet set off, or is already en route to the solar system.

Of course, the above are just reasonable inferences based on existing intelligence. As for their authenticity, we can only make a judgment after the unmanned deep space probe sent by China passes through the star flow channel, reaches the Sirius system, takes pictures and conducts reconnaissance, and sends back the information.

For the past six months, both international and domestic news have focused on the zombie virus crisis. Other news reports have rarely appeared in newspapers or online, and have received little attention. Only after the emergence of the MY-1 drug, which completely ended the zombie virus crisis, did the news focus gradually shift to other areas. The achievements China has made in the aerospace industry over the past six months have undoubtedly been the most brilliant and newsworthy, attracting nationwide attention as soon as they were reported.

China's large-scale development of Mars has begun. Several large mining bases, smelting plants, synthesis plants, machinery factories, intelligent robot factories, and space docks have been completed and put into operation on the Martian surface or in the vicinity of Mars. The production capacity of interstellar ships and robots has increased several times over.

Over the past seven months, China's exploration and development of Proxima B has continued uninterrupted. A permanent planetary research base has been built and put into use, with human astronauts and intelligent robots already stationed there to conduct comprehensive investigations of Proxima B's environment, flora and fauna, mineral resources, magnetic field, and other aspects, thus building up technical data reserves for large-scale human migration.

In early April, the China National Space Administration and Ruida Space Company jointly dispatched a second expeditionary fleet to the Proxima Centauri system. Compared to the first expeditionary fleet, the second fleet is larger, with more spacecraft of various sizes, carrying several times more supplies, and a crew of over one hundred astronauts. Currently, the second expeditionary fleet has entered the stellar passage from our solar system to Proxima Centauri and is on its way. It is estimated that in another two weeks, the fleet will pass through the stellar passage and reach the inner periphery of Proxima Centauri. With the addition of this second expeditionary fleet, it is believed that humanity's development of Proxima Centauri b will be put on the fast track.

Two brand-new space docks are under rapid construction in Mars geosynchronous orbit. Compared to the four space docks already built and in use, these two under construction are significantly larger and equipped with more advanced equipment. In particular, the giant slipway for producing large spaceships is over ten kilometers long, making it the ideal choice for building the latest, finalized starship designs.

Nearby, on two smaller slipways, construction was in full swing, with dozens of spacecraft of varying sizes and shapes being built simultaneously – a scene of bustling activity. Numerous fully automated small cargo ships, carrying components many times larger than the ships themselves, moved back and forth. A large number of automated robots climbed up and down the laid-out keels, performing welding operations. Sparks from multiple welding points flashed and crisscrossed, illuminating the surrounding dim cosmic void.

What's rather strange is that the space dock is bustling with activity, dominated by robots and automated equipment; human operators are surprisingly few in number. This is because when the space dock is in use, most of the area is a vacuum, weightless environment with severe cosmic radiation. Human operators working in such harsh conditions would need to wear heavy extravehicular activity (EVA) suits, hindering their movement and reducing their dexterity. It's far more efficient to remain in the dock's core control room, where there is air and gravity, or even better, to stay on Earth and remotely control intelligent robots via brain-computer interfaces to complete the spacecraft construction. This minimizes the risks and significantly improves efficiency. Some highly skilled operators can even multitask, remotely controlling two intelligent robots simultaneously, performing two different tasks and earning two separate payments.

The reason why the China National Space Administration and Ruida Space Company are investing so heavily in building space docks and creating more and larger spacecraft is to develop Proxima Centauri b and to deal with the potential crisis of alien invasion.

As early as after China's first expeditionary fleet discovered alien spacecraft wreckage near the asteroid belt, China launched several unmanned probes to the entrance of the stellar flow passage between the solar system and the Sirius system, using the passage to explore the Sirius system. Nearly a year has passed; of the four unmanned probes that ventured deep into the stellar flow passage, two have lost contact and are likely destroyed. (End of Chapter)
