In the dock, two Type 001 light aircraft carriers are under construction. The construction of these two light aircraft carriers began shortly after the launching ceremony of the first ship.
These two Type 001 light aircraft carriers, one is for the Chinese Navy's own use, and the other is ordered by Saudi Arabia.
The two Type 001 light aircraft carriers had the experience of building the first ship, so the construction speed was much faster. They were expected to be launched in July 1997 and officially put into service in July 7. Liu Tao came this time because Saudi Arabia ordered two more Type 1999 light aircraft carriers when he was attending a meeting in Beijing.
Saudi Arabia plans to establish three aircraft carrier formations, one in the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea, to ensure Saudi interests.
Saudi Arabia seems to have let it go. Instead of paying protection fees to others and having to look at the faces of Europe and the United States from time to time, it would be better to invest the money in military construction.

The Type 903 supply ship is a new type of large-scale comprehensive supply ship of the Chinese Navy. There are currently two of them, namely Weishan Lake and Qiandao Lake.

He wants to develop a large comprehensive supply ship, a supply ship specially built for aircraft carrier formations, with a displacement of about 4 to 5 tons, which is twice the displacement of the Type 903 supply ship.
And because it is used as a supply ship for an aircraft carrier formation, the design speed of this new type of supply ship is no less than 25 knots.
Liu Tao's positioning of this supply ship is that it is a new type of comprehensive supply ship that reaches the world's advanced level and can provide maritime accompanying supplies for the Chinese Navy's aircraft carrier formation and far sea exciting formation.
This requires the use of a new type of offshore supply system, which needs to have stronger dry and liquid cargo diversified supply capabilities compared to other supply ships. Only in this way can it truly take on the fleet's long-distance accompanying supply mission.
The new replenishment system includes horizontal dry cargo replenishment, horizontal liquid cargo replenishment and vertical liquid cargo replenishment systems. It can automatically adjust the tension of rigging and pipelines to compensate for the distance changes between ships caused by waves and navigation during horizontal replenishment at sea, and can ensure that multiple ships can receive supplies and fuel at the same time.
At the same time, the system must meet special requirements such as explosion-proof, anti-static, low-temperature-proof, and moisture-proof.
Precisely because the technical design, processing and manufacturing are very difficult, Liu Tao has no intention of letting the research institute set up a project to overcome them, because the Ship Research Institute has already tried its best to come up with the Type 903A supply ship.
If we ask the Ship Research Institute to study and solve the problem, it will probably take at least ten years.
So, Liu Tao took matters into his own hands.
