Bronze door through time and space

Chapter 882 The Tower of Destiny Descends

Chapter 882 The Tower of Destiny Descends
As soon as she stepped outside, the sight of countless eye-shaped flying insects alerted Lady Shangdu that the worst had happened; Kent still hadn't been able to suppress the strange changes in his body.

"Are we just going to leave like this?" Lady Shangdu found Zha Kang, who was trying to start the helicopter, and grabbed him, saying.

"What else can we do? Are you expecting me to solve the problem?" Zha Kang said with self-awareness, leaving Lady Shangdu speechless for a moment, because she was truly useless.

"Damn it, Kent is Doctor of Fate. The worst thing would be if he opened the Tower of Fate and released Naboo, the source of the mutation." Lady Shangdu said anxiously, knowing Naboo's power and authority very well.

"Now we can only hope that we can lure those old guys out, or that Zatanna and the others can return in time and bring enough strength," Zha Kang said, his eyes gleaming, clearly not even believing it himself.

Perhaps it's time to prepare a few more trump cards and find a few more escape routes. However, having only one teammate isn't enough. Should we find a few more? Zha Kang thought to himself.

However, given his reputation, it's difficult for him to find teammates.

Fortunately, he is now a member of the Dark Justice League, so perhaps he can persuade a few honest, reliable, fearless, and dedicated teammates to join him.

Lady Shangdu, unaware of what Zha Kang was thinking, was still trying to divine the future, seeking a way out of this crisis.

At this time, the underground building where Kent was imprisoned was not only filled with swarms of eye-shaped flying insects, but also filled with a thick blood mist. This blood mist traveled out through the ventilation ducts, and although it became thinner, its effects were still there, and so some people were unlucky.

The Red Ribbon Legion soldiers who arrived suddenly found themselves extremely thirsty, as if they had swallowed burning coals, which was unbearable.

Ultimately, their deep-seated hunger led them to focus their attention on their companions, and they couldn't resist the urge. Or rather, having been infected with the Red Ribbon virus and lost all sense of propriety, they never considered restraint. They tore at each other, causing blood and flesh to fly everywhere, yet they seemed to feel no pain, only concerned with enjoying the blood that suddenly made them crave so much.

The soldiers parasitized by eye-flying insects fared even worse; their flesh and bones dripped like melted wax, revealing the writhing nerves and blood vessels beneath. Even a slight breeze caused their nerves, as long as three thousand strands of hair, to feel excruciating pain, twitching as if dancing.

As Chris Connor boarded the helicopter and it ascended, he suddenly noticed that the silver bracelet on his wrist was glowing red and was burning hot like a branding iron. He looked up sharply and saw that the clouds above Pearl Harbor had begun to swirl, forming a huge vortex, with the faint phantom of a towering pagoda appearing at the center of the vortex.

"My God, it's the Tower of Destiny!" Lady Shangdu exclaimed, her bottom soaked through. The area beneath her became even wetter, as if still dripping water. Luckily, she hadn't turned on the seat's electric heating function, or she would have been numb.

"This is a huge problem." Zha Kang didn't have time to look anymore and left as fast as he could. He was afraid he wouldn't be able to leave if he was any later, but he was still a step too late.

The helicopter's rotors hummed shrilly through the blood mist. Zack Kang stared at the wildly fluctuating needles on the instrument panel and noticed that the fuel gauge was dropping at a visible rate. It turned out that the blood mist was corroding the helicopter's outer shell and even seeping into the interior, causing the fuel lines to leak. This forced Zack Kang to use magic to create a protective barrier in an attempt to make the helicopter last longer, or at least escape danger.

Just then, a shadow suddenly swept past outside. Zha Kang looked up sharply and saw tens of thousands of eyeball-shaped flying insects forming a black vortex. The frequency of their wing membrane vibrations gradually synchronized, forming an infrasound wave that could penetrate metal, making the cockpit glass buzz and making the situation even worse.

"Fuck!" Having only recently escaped his debts, Zacon had to borrow magic from the demon again, unleashing one powerful spell after another to finally shake off the eyeball flies.

Unfortunately, his joy was premature; the Tower of Destiny arrived sooner than he anticipated. Although the Tower of Destiny carried the laws of order, locked down Earth's spacetime, and protected the fate of all living beings—making it a powerful artifact—its exterior was merely an ordinary stone tower, neither majestic nor spectacular. Yet, it was no longer constructed of bricks and stones, but rather composed of countless twisted flesh and blood, like the internal organs of some giant creature forcibly stretched and stacked, growing wantonly in violation of biological norms and all common sense.

What should have been a wall had transformed into layers upon layers of intertwined fascia and tendons, covered with a spiderweb of blue blood vessels, and protruding with huge tumors, each covered with open eyes that scanned the surrounding void as if observing the trajectory of fate.

Meanwhile, this strange tower that pierced the chaotic sky rose and fell slowly with a certain rhythm. With each contraction, it squeezed out a sticky, strange liquid that fell like raindrops, causing even more severe flesh and blood distortion. Even buildings and ships began to grow moldy flesh and blood carpets.

"Looks like things have really gone too far." Zha Kang clicked his tongue, unsure of what to say for a moment.

Lady Shangdu fared even worse. As a prophet, she was more sensitive and knew far more than Zha Kang. At this moment, she was trembling all over, her brow twitching as if something was about to emerge, and she began to ramble incoherently. Zha Kang, with quick eyes and hands, knocked her unconscious with a punch from a brass knuckle inscribed with sacred script.

But the changes in the outside world did not end there. Kent, having broken free of his restraints, flew out of his underground confinement and entered the tower without hesitation. He merged with the jellyfish-like helmet, and countless nerves hanging from the helmet pierced into his body, becoming one with his nervous system. At the same time, the brain inside the helmet connected with his brain, completely taking over the body.

Kent, or Naboo, who transformed into a gourd-headed being, became more powerful than ever before, and the tower evolved accordingly.

The top of the tower was hidden in the rolling gray-black clouds, with only some writhing, tentacle-like structures vaguely visible. These structures intertwined in the clouds and eventually merged into a giant eyeball. Wherever the eye looked, flesh and blood grew, and everything twisted.

Pearl Harbor seemed to have been taken over by the Zerg, with thick carpets of flesh and blood everywhere. Even metal equipment began to grow flesh and bone, becoming a mixture of flesh and machine. Warships roared, submarines leaped, and even the harbor hummed. As for humans, they had long since blended into it, becoming an insignificant part.

Soon, countless eye-shaped flying insects flew out from the bottom of the tower and began to spread towards the archipelago, creating countless mutated monsters and causing the chaos to continue to expand.

Looking at the hellish scene before him, Zha Kang recalled the prophecy made by Lady Shangdu before he knocked her unconscious.

When the god of order begins to crave chaos, the whole world will become his toy.

Who exactly is this "He" referring to? Is it Naboo, or...?
Zha Kang's expression was somewhat gloomy and uncertain, because the water was deeper than he had imagined.

Lady Shangdu, who had been knocked unconscious, suddenly began to convulse. In her delirium, she uttered incomprehensible babbling, and spiderweb-like veins appeared on her skin, as if countless small snakes were crawling under her skin.

With a sigh, Zha Kang reluctantly pulled a small bottle of high-grade holy water from his pocket, roughly pried open her mouth and poured in half of it. He breathed a sigh of relief after seeing the veins and lines temporarily subside, but he couldn't care less about the rest.

Zack threw away his cigarette butt, pushed the lever, and sped away. As for saving the world, that wasn't his job; he should go find Superman.
