Chapter 24 Name and Reason for Adoption

The idea was wonderful, but Guo Mi soon realized that the plan was not so easy to implement.

The essence of the chase game lies in the back-and-forth pursuit and mutual tug-of-war.

This male bear, whether it was due to extremely sensitive senses or an exceptionally keen sense of smell, would always sound heavy footsteps behind Guo Mi whenever she tried to sneak away.

After several unsuccessful attempts, Guo Mi was already out of breath and finally sat down heavily on the snow, panting heavily.

The cold air rushed into her lungs through her nostrils, making her shiver. Out of the corner of her eye, she subtly glanced at the male bear that had stopped and was quietly watching her not far away.

They looked energetic and in high spirits, clearly not done playing yet.

Guo Mi twitched her lips. Her claws were injured, yet she could run for so long. Her stamina was amazing. If this continued, she would be the first to collapse!
She hadn't rested for long when she heard the male bear's panting again. Turning around, she saw the male bear already standing in front of her.

Guo Mi shuddered as the male bear sniffed her ear, then suddenly opened its mouth and bit down on her round cheek!
He didn't use much force; it was more like he was holding it in his mouth than biting. Guo Mi knew he didn't want to fight but wanted to switch games.

Bears opening their mouths and colliding their teeth and noses is also a game, and friendships often begin from these affectionate little actions.

However, even knowing this, Guo Mi couldn't just accept the game so easily!

Because the level of trust between her and the bear was far from sufficient for them to play this kind of game!
What's the difference between this and shoving your neck under someone's mouth?!

Guo Mi has completely given up. As a human, she spent half her life as a corporate slave, and even as a bear, she can't escape this fate and is forced to play along.

After catching his breath, he resignedly got up and started jogging away into the distance, calling back twice as he ran to signal the male bear to follow.

Caesar tilted his head, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.

Aren't you already tired? Why not just switch to another game? Why keep running?

Does she really like this game?

Caesar shook his head, then his dark gaze fell on a snowdrift protruding in the distance from the cave entrance.

Those two little cubs are hiding there; he's already smelled them.

Watching the round-faced bear run further and further away, Caesar stood there for a while before finally looking away from the snowdrift and chasing after it.

After the two large bears ran away, the two cubs behind the snowdrift only dared to peek out tremblingly after confirming that there were no other bears around.

Fishbone asked in a low voice:

"Are we going to catch up?"

The salmon remained silent. The fishbone looked again at the footprints left by the two large bears, then leaned its small body against the salmon.
"How about... we stay here and wait for Guo Mi?"

"no!"

The salmon rejected the offer, its eyes resolute:

“We can’t stay here. That male bear has already spotted us. If we stay here, we’ll be killed. Even if we aren’t killed, Guo Mi will eventually come back for us.”

The salmon raised its head, sniffing the remaining scent in the air, and resolutely stepped out of the snowdrift:
"We'll follow them, but not behind the male bear; try to stay on higher ground."

Fishbone nodded obediently and followed behind the salmon, while the two bear cubs quietly followed along, following the scent they left behind.

……

Guo Mi gradually led the male bear away from where the cub was hiding, and only then did she secretly breathe a sigh of relief.

She was too exhausted to run any further, so she sat down to rest in the snow.

Caesar shuffled over and unceremoniously sat down next to Guo Mi, his bear paws slowly scratching at the snow. Guo Mi resisted the urge to get up and move away, trying her best to shrink herself and avoid touching Caesar.

A voice suddenly rang in my ears:
"What's your name?"

Guo Mi was startled, then realized that it was the male bear next to her speaking.

This seems to be their first conversation; they always started fighting as soon as they met before.

The male bear beside her stared intently at Guo Mi, silently awaiting her answer.

Guo Mi hesitated for a moment, then said in a low voice:

"My name is Guo Mi."

It's just a name. Anyway, this male bear doesn't need her to raise him like the other two cubs, so telling him is fine.

Guo Mi?

Caesar tilted his head and pondered the name carefully.

The name reminded him of the berries that grew on the island in the summer, some round, some thorny, some sweet, some bitter, and some even very irritating, causing a slight pain when eaten.

Caesar's gaze fell on the sullen, round-faced bear sitting beside him, whose front paw, bitten by her, was still throbbing. He thought the name suited her well.

Guo Mi kept her head down, neither looking at the male bear nor asking his name.

But the male bear spoke up:
"My name is Caesar."

Guo Mi's eyes flickered; this was a name that was both unexpected and perfectly logical.

The name Caesar generally symbolizes a king or a warrior in human society, which is quite fitting given the large size of this male bear.

Even after exchanging names, Guo Mi still didn't want to talk to him!
Caesar didn't care whether Gomi responded to him or not; he simply asked the question he had always wanted to know:
Why did you adopt those two bear cubs?

The survival rate of polar bear cubs is not low, but it is definitely not high either. It takes a lot of effort to raise two cubs.

For Caesar, even if the two cubs weren't his own, he wouldn't raise them.

Therefore, Guo Mi's behavior was undoubtedly strange in his eyes.

Caesar told Guo Mi his thoughts, which instantly lowered Guo Mi's opinion of him even further.

This is yet another "bad dad" who only cares about planting but not watering!
However, this is not entirely his fault. Humans are highly social beings, which is why they discuss human relationships and kinship.

It was precisely because Guo Mi had once been a human that she chose to adopt two bear cubs.

Polar bears do not have this condition, so cubs can only rely on the maternal love that their mothers have from birth to get through their infancy.

However, such a reason is clearly not appropriate to tell this male bear.

Sensing the bear's persistent gaze, Guo Mi could only offer him the simplest reason:
"It's cold at night, and the two little bears can help me keep warm."

Caesar was filled with surprise upon receiving the answer. He speculated on many reasons, such as food reserves, or simply because it was interesting.

But I never expected it to be for such a simple reason!

He looked Guo Mi up and down. This round-faced bear had very thick fur, even thicker than his own. The whole bear was fluffy and fluffy. He hadn't expected it to be so weak at keeping warm.

Caesar couldn't resist the urge to part the fur on Guo Mi's body to see how it differed from his own.
The simple-minded and foolish male bear did whatever came to mind, completely unaware that it was a rather offensive act!

When Caesar's bear paws scratched at Guo Mi and he tried to sniff her, Guo Mi finally couldn't resist and slapped him with her paw!
