Chapter 25 The Mysterious Male Bear

After Guo Mi finished fighting him, she was prepared to fight again. Her bear claws lightly stepped on the snow, secretly gathering strength, ready to launch a counterattack as soon as Caesar made any rash move!

Caesar stared intently at Guo Mi, a hint of coldness in his eyes. The atmosphere that had just eased instantly froze, and the air seemed to be filled with tension.

After a while, Caesar withdrew his gaze, casually put down Baragomi's paw, twitched his ears slightly, and remained unusually calm on his furry bear face. However, there seemed to be something hidden in his eyes, which looked like... a little pleasure?
Guo Mi's gaze towards him instantly turned strange.

Caesar felt uncomfortable under Guo Mi's gaze and stiffly looked away, but his eyes couldn't help but fall on Guo Mi's claws out of the corner of his eye.

When the round-faced bear raised her paw at him, he vaguely saw that her paw pads were pink.
Polar bears have black paw pads, which is a very distinctive color.

Upon closer inspection, Guo Mi's nose isn't pure black; it seems to be pink, or rather, it's pink with a hint of brown.

And because we were fighting all along, I didn't notice until I just scratched her fur a couple of times and realized that her fur doesn't feel the same as a polar bear's; it's soft and fluffy.

It feels very comfortable to touch.

Guo Mi followed his gaze and looked over, her eyes landing on her own paws.

It raised its paw and looked at itself, a hint of frustration flashing in its eyes.

Normal brown bear paw pads are either black or brown, and after years of walking, they are worn down beyond recognition, so that when you lift them up, you can only see the dirt and bits of grass that are embedded in the paw pads.

But she's an albino bear, a genetic disorder that causes her to have less melanin, resulting in pink paw pads. Since arriving in the Arctic, the changing environment has reduced wear and tear on her paws. Plus, when her paws get cold and painful, she often licks them to keep them warm, so the thick calluses on her paws have significantly decreased.
—It's easier for their paws to freeze.

Guo Mi sighed inwardly. She was indeed a bear unsuitable for survival in the Arctic. If only she could find a way to go back.

Little did she know that while she was feeling down, Caesar had already silently scrutinized her from head to toe.

The huge white male bear's gaze lingered on Guo Mi's round ears for a moment, and he began to think to himself that he remembered Guo Mi's tail was also round, hidden in her thick fur.

So Caesar was the first to stand up from the snow, and under Guo Mi's bewildered gaze, he twitched his ears and muttered two words:

"continue."

Guo Mi was completely confused. Continue? Continue what?
Caesar had already started running, and after jogging for a while, he turned back to look at Guo Mi.

Guo Mi was dumbfounded. Did she still want to continue playing?
This bear looks boring, but I didn't expect it to enjoy playing games with other bears so much?
But to prevent the male bear from going back to find the cub, Guo Mi eventually got up and ran alongside Caesar.

Caesar jogged a few more steps before stopping.

Guo Mi understood immediately, took two steps back, turned around and ran away, and then, unsurprisingly, heard the sound of a male bear chasing after her.

Caesar finally got to see the tail he wanted to see, and sure enough, the tail was round!

Unbeknownst to them, the two bears had already run back to the foot of the snow mountain, far from where the cub was, and they wouldn't be able to get back in a short time.

Guo Mi felt something was off. If she had felt like she was playing a game just now, that feeling was completely gone, and it felt more like she was completing some kind of task.

Looking at the majestic snow-capped mountains, she felt a growing anxiety. It was too far from the two bear cubs, and it would take her a lot of time to go back and find them.

She can't even get back right now.

After running for a while, Guo Mi stopped and prepared to hand over the run to the male bear.

Turning around, I happened to see Caesar had stopped.

Her gaze lingered on Caesar's massive bear paws for a moment, then she looked away, letting out two distant calls. The bear in her line of sight turned, but stopped after only a couple of steps!
Just as confusion welled up in Guo Mi's heart, she suddenly heard two childish cries!
Upon hearing the sound, Guo Mi's mind went blank. Looking in the direction the sound came from, she saw two little bears stumbling and struggling to walk on the snowy mountainside!

She instinctively looked at Caesar, only to find that he was no longer there!

Guo Mi felt a tightness in her back, her fur stood on end, and she shouted loudly:

"Salmon, fish bones, run!"

She paused for two seconds, then immediately added:
"Run up the mountain!"

Upon hearing her voice, the two bear cubs glanced in this direction from afar and immediately obeyed, running wildly up the mountain!

Guo Mi ran towards them, glancing around as she went, trying to pinpoint Caesar's location.

The large male bear was easy to find.

Caesar stood on the snowy slope by the mountain. Although he only watched the bear cub run away without chasing after it, he could still see the murderous intent in the cub's eyes!
Guo Mi felt a chill in her heart, realizing that her brief peaceful coexistence with Caesar just now meant nothing.

Male bears are naturally hostile towards cubs.

Most male bears will temporarily give up killing cubs because of the mother bear's interference, but some male bears are not in this category; they are always determined to kill all the cubs.

Guo Mi didn't know which class Caesar belonged to, but she knew that taking the little bear away from Caesar was the best and most appropriate way to avoid tragedy.

She turned away from the male bear standing there, never looking at him again, and chased after the two bear cubs without looking back.

The Arctic mountains are covered in snow all year round, and the snow layer is thick, but the thin snow layer cannot support the huge weight of a male bear.

Guo Mi had just noticed that although Caesar was standing still, his body was uncontrollably sliding down slightly.

He is very large, and it would take him a lot of time and effort to climb to a higher height.

Originally, Guo Mi planned to use this to get rid of Caesar quietly, and then take a detour back to find the little bear.

Unexpectedly, the two little ones caught up with us on their own.

She looked back after confirming that she had climbed to a height that the male bear couldn't reach anytime soon.

What met the eye was a vast expanse of white snow.

Guo Mi's gaze fell on the place where she had just been chasing and playing with Caesar. Perhaps it was too far away, or perhaps Caesar had already left, but in any case, she did not see any bears.

She breathed a sigh of relief, confirming that she and the bear had temporarily escaped Caesar's clutches.

The two little bears sat beside Guo Mi with their heads hanging down, looking like they had done something wrong.

The fishbone buried its face under Guo Mi's stomach, not daring to look at her. The salmon, while not hiding itself, wasn't much better off, and whispered an apology to Guo Mi:

"I'm sorry, Guo Mi, we shouldn't have run around like that."

She just wanted to follow Guo Mi and the male bear at a distance with the fishbone, so that there would be less danger and Guo Mi wouldn't have to find a way to circle back to find them.

I never expected to run right up to the male bear.

You must have caused Guo Mi trouble again, right?
