Chapter 26 Another Polar Bear
Guo Mi wasn't actually very angry, because staying in the same place was just as dangerous, especially since male bears had been seen there before.

Polar bears do not have a sense of territory, and male bears socialize with each other, so there's no guarantee that another male bear won't appear in that area.

However, she has to ask the two little ones some questions before deciding whether to criticize them.

She tried to soften her voice, hoping the two bear cubs would sense that she wasn't angry.

"Could you tell me, if you just wanted to follow us, why didn't you just follow behind us instead of going around us from their direction?"

The place where the two bear cubs appeared was even higher than the location where Gomi and Caesar were.

It's impossible to avoid taking a detour.

The salmon glanced at the fish bones hidden under Guo Mi's belly, then looked at Guo Mi again, making sure there was no anger in her eyes, before answering softly:
"My mother once told us that if we encounter other big bears, we should run to higher ground as much as possible."

The two cubs were clever; they chose to follow from higher ground, which not only reduced the chance of encountering other male bears but also protected themselves.

Guo Mi suddenly realized, and a touch of melancholy crept into her heart upon hearing those words.

The deceased mother bear not only gave life to her two cubs, but also left them something precious: the ability to protect themselves.

If the mother bear hadn't properly trained her two cubs, the two little furballs probably wouldn't have been able to escape from Caesar's claws until they met her.

Guo Mi lowered her head and licked the foreheads of the two little furballs, then whispered:
“You’ve done a great job. Although I’m not as experienced as your mother and may not be able to teach you better ways to survive, I will do my best.”

"Every day from now on should be like this: don't wait in one place, don't surrender, run away, run, and do everything you can to survive."

The two bear cubs, comforted, raised their paws and touched the spot where they had been licked, their round little eyes gradually glistening with moisture.

After resting for a while with the two bear cubs, Guo Mi began to look around at her surroundings.

Snow-capped mountains offer many advantages, the biggest being the significant reduction in the risk of being harassed by male bears. However, they also have their drawbacks, one of the most significant being the difficulty in obtaining food.

After leading the bear cubs around the snowy mountain for a while, Guo Mi realized that it was not a place to stay for long and that she would probably need to take the two bear cubs back.

Until she finds another source of food, that lake is their only resource for survival, and they can't afford to give it up.

The polar bear's sense of smell is too keen; going back would mean he would still encounter Caesar.

The thought of that strange male bear gave Guo Mi a headache.

After much deliberation, she finally decided to let the two bear cubs sleep on the mountain for one night, and then go down the mountain to the lake where they could find food.

……

After finding a sheltered spot and barely managing to spend the night, Guo Mi got up early and led the two bear cubs down the mountain from another direction.

The thick snow on the hillside made it difficult for the two bear cubs to move, and the mountain path was too steep, so they could only hop forward, leaving two rows of small bear-shaped snow pits in the snow.

Guo Mi couldn't bear to watch any longer, so she decided to carry the heavier salmon on her back, then bite the fish bones and take the two little furballs down the mountain.

The two little ones looked at Guo Mi with sparkling eyes. Guo Mi turned her head away and said awkwardly:
"This is just an occasional occurrence, and you'll have to help me even more!"

The two bear cubs immediately clung to Guo Mi's paws, rubbing their little heads against her. In the end, Guo Mi, with salmon on her back and fish bones in her mouth, struggled to make her way down the mountain step by step.

Although the fishbone was a small bear, it was quite heavy. After a while, Guo Mi felt her teeth ache and had to throw it back into the snow to rest for a while.

As a result, the little ball of fluff released its grip too early, and before it could land properly, it slid right down the snow slope!

The slide was very fast. Guo Mi chased after it for a couple of steps but couldn't catch up. So she simply stood still, carrying the salmon on her back. The two bears watched as the fish bones rolled all the way and finally crashed into the raised snowdrift!

A moment later, a small paw emerged from the snowdrift, followed by a tiny white ball of fluff that shook off the snow vigorously!

Guo Mi's eyes lit up, and she immediately sat down, gesturing for the salmon to get off her back.

Just as I was about to bite her, the salmon obediently jumped forward and slid down the steep snow slope!
Guo Mi watched leisurely, then finally lay down, trying to spread her limbs to increase the contact area with the snow. With a push from her hind legs, she began to slide down the same path that the two little fur balls had followed!

The salmon had just emerged from the snowdrift and hadn't even had time to shake off the snow when a giant ball of fluff grazed her side and crashed into the snowdrift next to her!
After a while, a round bear head suddenly emerged from the snowdrift that had been smashed apart. Its pinkish-brown nose, covered in white snow, twitched and it suddenly sneezed!

Guo Mi climbed out of the snowdrift and shook her fur vigorously!

The snowflakes stuck to their bodies were flung everywhere, and the two little bears next to them, who had just cleaned themselves off, were flung all over again!
The round-faced bear felt a little guilty, but not much. He chuckled and reached out his paw to pat the two little furballs.

The road ahead was much smoother, the snow wasn't as thick as before, and the two little bears had less trouble walking, no longer needing Guo Mi's help.

The three bears, one large and two small, slowly embarked on their descent down the mountain, leaving three sets of paw prints in the snow.

They didn't return to the area around the lake until the sun began to set.

It's impossible to fill our stomachs at this time; we can only rely on luck and catch as many fish as we can.

Guo Mi led the two bear cubs toward the lake, but little did she know that there were already guests there!

Upon spotting the polar bear in the distance, she instantly stopped in her tracks, alert.

I initially thought it was Caesar lying in wait, but upon closer inspection, it seems that wasn't the case.

The bear was much smaller than Caesar, probably about the same size, and was soaking wet, looking like it had just come out of the lake.

Guo Mi examined it for a while and finally determined that it was not Caesar, nor any other male bear, but a female bear!
She felt relieved.

If it were a female bear, she might try to negotiate with the other party to see if they could share the lake.

Even if the negotiations fail, she can wait for the other party to leave before fishing.

There are many options to choose from, and most importantly, there is no physical imposing presence, so she is not afraid of the opponent suddenly launching an attack.

After waiting for so long, the mother bear opposite her seemed to have caught her scent, her nose tapping lightly in the air as if searching for her.

After hesitating for a moment, Guo Mi finally decided to take the initiative to contact the other party, so she jogged towards the polar bear in the distance.
